After surviving the perilous events at the barn, Danny finds himself in an uncomfortable position. His friends demand to know the secrets of the past, and he feels obligated to comply. After all, his past did almost get them killed.
Danny struggles as he reveals his dark past. He had so desperately wanted to keep it hidden. However, he is surprised by his friends’ unexpected reaction.
After his near-death experience, and reliving his painful past, matters are made worse as Danny has another run-in with Sheriff Rhinehart. The sheriff seems to know something about Danny’s past, and their encounter leaves Danny fuming.
Just when Danny thinks things can’t get any worse, another mysterious note appears with a vague but urgent warning.
The Warning is Book 3 of The Carterville Series, written by Percival Pack. In this episode, Kelsey, Bethany, and Buck find out who Danny Porter really is, and that he is in their town of Carterville as a part of the Witness Protection Program. Sheriff Reinhardt finds out that Danny isn't who he says he is because of what Mr. Walton told him about the two bad guys who were looking for Danny, alias Cody. So, the sheriff runs down information about Cody and that he used to deal drugs, but is now in Witness Protection. The sheriff tells the mayor, who tells the sheriff to leave out the past about Wit Sec and have Pastor Pearson make an announcement about Danny being a drug dealer. When Kelsey and Bethany hear what the pastor is talking about, Kelsey shames him an reminds the congregation what Jesus said about "He who is without sin, let him cast the first stone." Kelsey gets so angry with the hypocritical pastor and his lies, that she and Bethany storm out of the church. Kelsey takes Bethany to the mayor's office to pick up some stuff she left there when Kelsey was kidnapped. Kelsey went to Mama Sue's to tell Danny what happened and to warn him. Mama Sue sides with Danny, saying she didn't trust that new pastor. Bethany finds incriminating evidence at the mayor's office. The sheriff takes Danny in for questioning. What evidence did Bethany find? What questions did the sheriff ask Danny? And who in the world left a warning on Danny's car to "Run!" I absolutely love, love, love this series, and will read Book 4 next. If not for the Final Voting episode of The Voice tonight, I would have finished this book in about twenty minutes. I gave this episode 5 big fat stars and would have given more if I could have.
Nice development ... Danny has new friends, and new enemies (the sheriff and the mayor); since all people in the small town are about to learn about his past (that was supposed to be secret, since he's in the witness protection program), I wonder why is he not contacting the police officers that found him this town to be the hiding place. We'll have to wait for the next book to learn what are they into next.
I enjoyed the previous books leading up to this book and had a great expectation for this book. However, it left a little to be desired as it didn’t have as much of a cliffhanger as the others had before it. It was an excellent addition I would have just wanted a little bit more! Great book series through love it!
