Interesting sci-fi romance with a twist. Very creative.

Intriguing premise but no, not a good novel. So we get invaded and the aliens make a fifth of the population disappear. They take over and start regulating people’s lives. Anyone resisting disappears. Along comes our hero who falls in love with the alien leader, even after he knows that the leader has taken over a human body without the original occupant’s consent. This is all too offensive for me and I cannot feel any empathy for the main character. This story is a slow burner and I feel like my sympathy for the main character is supposed to keep me interested. Like I said, and I don’t want to give too much away, it’s an interesting premise but don’t ask me to feel sorry for the main character at any point. Not for me.

Human protectors are trained and sent out to enforce the new healthful laws. Drugs, 🚬cigarettes, 🍸alcohol, are all confiscated when discovered.
Clark🐺 is a young gay man who becomes a protector in order to find his father, who has been imprisoned by the squids🐙.
At his graduation ceremony, he meets Lex, another young man who is attracted to him. When the ceremony starts, he realizes Lex🐙 is the head squid in a handsome gay man's body!

I thought this was an intriguing story from the science fiction/alien side, but I wasn't really sold on the romance side. The romance came across more as just a physical attraction for most of the book.
Clark is a human who goes to work for the aliens who have invaded Earth to try to find his father. Lex is the alien who lead the attack against Earth and has plotted out most of the rules that now govern human society. Lex's race the Nynals take over a human host in order to interact and experience life as a human. Clark is initially attracted to Lex without knowing that he is a Nynal, that he is the enemy that killed so many humans. As Clark tries to discover if he is a traitor to the humans or to his new boyfriend, Lex is discovering that humans with their crazy emotions may have more to teach him than he could have ever imagined.
At first I had trouble seeing any redeeming characteristics in Lex. He came across as very self-centered and egotistical (his way was right and there was no other). But as the story progressed he grew emotionally and became much more likable. While I could understand much of Clark's problem with trying to balance his loyalty to the human race and his growing attraction to Lex, I felt like his attraction to Lex came across as too much a physical connection and not enough of an emotional connection.

This was a very sweet and lovable love story starting off as aliens invaded earth and billions of people disappeared and the Aliens took over making the human that is left vessels for the aliens could switch bodies with. The Aliens were a lifeform that lived in a water solution like there home planet but moved to a ship to explore space and different civilizations and lifeforms. They goal was to learn and experience what every body they took their feelings, and other things. But they had arrived on earth they did the same thing but they did not take in consideration the feeling the human had they never ran into and they started living experience they had not know and did not know how to cope with. They soon learn it was them who was changing and learning feeling they had lost over the centuries and seeing the mistakes they had made.
This is a beautiful Male to Male romance between a human and an Alien who took the time to move into a body in doing so he lost his heart to the human and wanted to try to make better for both the Aliens race and the Human race

This was an intriguing approach to a sci-fi book. In the story line, Clark becomes a protector working for the aliens who invaded Earth. He is trying to find his father, who has been imprisoned by the “squids” which, in their alien form, look like little squids. The rumors say they crawl up the human’s nose and stick tentacles through the brain to control the host. (Ewww!)
Clark meets Lex, a young man who is attracted to him. It turns out that Lex is the alien who led the attack on Earth and he is actually the squid leader in a handsome man's body! But being in a human body allows him to interact, feel emotions, and gain experiences – and maybe a bit of understanding and compassion that will bring about a change in him he wasn’t expecting. Does Earth have a bleak future? Will Clark decide where his loyalties are when he knows the truth?
This was an interesting read. The emotions are all out there, touching the reader and reminding us what the characters are experiencing. Very powerful stuff!

This was a very interesting story about the earth being invaded by highly intelligent beings with an underlying romance. Clark (the human) has went through training as a Protector to gather intel on his missing father. Lex is the the commander of the aliens and he has invaded a human male body. Clark is attracted to Lex but when he finds out that Lex is an alien, he is disgusted but still intrigue. Lex is getting use to his host body and feelings. He is falling for Clark but he can see Clark is fighting his own demons(being a traitor) with his attraction to him. After a few dates and intimate times with each other, the two guys come together. There is some trust issues tested throughout the story but they were able to overcome most and have a wonderful HEA. There is definitely a twist at the end... I was pleasantly surprised and it made the story all the more sweeter and romantic.

I was so glad i stumble upon this one. I needed something different than my usual romance reads and this was just what a needed. It was romance and scifi all in one. This one was a page turner for me with all its twist and turns. My heart broke for both chatacters at times but i love when i book can rip my heart out and put it back together. I really enjoyed both characaters especially lexs character. Watching how adorable it was for the big, bad alien fall in love for the first time was the sweetest thing because it was so innocent and new for him and it made it easy to see past all the bad he had done. Then he finally understood why humans continue to live the way they did and started to see thing from a different standing point. Overall i really enoyed the story and felt both characters were very well written leaving the reader to feel everything they felt.

Losing freedom of choice makes you think! After an alien invasion, Clark joins The Occupation as a Protector in an attempt to locate his missing father. Clark met Lex on the rooftop just before graduation. He shared his philosophy and a cigarrette. He thinks his new friend may be an ally in the future. Then Clark finds out Lex is the Commander and Commencement speaker. Clark found himself attracted to Lex, an alien Commander. Lex has a human body subject to physical feelings and emotions. So, how will that work out? Will the complexity of human emotions defeat the Nynal? Can Clark befriend Lex wthtout feeling a traitor? Will humanity rebel? Totally interesting story. Clark is brave and likeable. Lex is likeable as a human. Nicely done! I received an ARC from Booksprout and am voluntarily leaving a review.

This was a great story to read. A real pager turner. Clark signed up to be a protector that he could find his father. Lexington is the Commander of the Nynal people. Clark cannot believe that he did not know that Lexington was an alien. Clark goes undercover and then tries to help the people by giving them some medicine that they need. Clark is asked to bring Lex to a prearranged place and can not go through with it. Clark tells Lex everything that he has done and is ready to be processed. Lex tells Clark that he knows what was going on because he had someone on the inside the whole time. Can Clark save the people? Will Clark find out what happened to his father?

2.5 stars cuz it pissed me off so bad throughout, but it was entertaining. Although it required me to ignore much ridiculousness and unrealistic reactions. Plus, while I could not understand how any of it could be ok EVER, the author worked it out so it turned out mostly tolerable.
The length of this is perfect, I would not have stuck it out much longer with how horrified I was most of the time. Good work, Kayci.
To note that I could not stand a SINGLE character but I HATED Mario, that sociopath asshole and his brat little sister. Ew. Kayci, you utterly failed at selling him as any kind of friend, and his sob story was not enough to make him even a little bit human. He is deplorable and a disgrace to everything humane and decent and I was very sorry he existed in this book at all.

3.5 stars for alien romance
This was surprisingly good alien romance and the action was on Earth and not in space. It was a bit different approach to the aliens (I think that author like The Host and there are some similarities), especially how human souls are saved.
Main characters were good and I liked that they were both struggling with their feelings and their relationship, especially since they supposed to be enemies (will not go in more details to avoid spoilers).

I really enjoyed this despite all ghe angst from both parties! Both Clark and Lex have issues but despite them find ways to make their lives work! The tale flows well and it's well written with characters that are not perfect but are likeable nonetheless. The romance between Clark and Lex is almost an aside to the whole but without it, the whole would definitely be lacking and that would be a pity!

I really liked the idea of reading a romance with aliens not in their own bodies, but using a human body as a host. I've only read one other, so I was looking forward to this. Seeing an alien who doesn't experience human emotions experience them for the first time in a human body was interesting and I loved that aspect of the story. Lexington and Clark were attracted to each other right away, until Clark realized Lex was one of the aliens taking over his world. This is an enemies to lovers romance and I enjoyed the interactions between the two men. 5 stars.

Lex is an Alien with deeply held, strong, convictions, yet somehow he's been tempted to try something different, and it has opened up a world of possibilities.
This done in one quick read establishes an interesting world, playing fair with the reader as Clark plays a potentially dangerous game in an effort to find out what happened to his father.

I liked seeing how Lex needed to learn that being in a host is nothing like what he expected. As he learned about all of these new experiences, he also opened himself up to adapting, where he never permitted it before. I also liked that Clark needed to really think about his priorities and his loyalties at almost every step of his journey so that he knew that he was doing what he believed to be the right thing.

Clark and Lex are hot even if they shouldn't be attracted to each other or be together. They're technically fighting on opposite sides but it's hard to choose who you fall in love with. I love how Kayci Morgand does MM romances. I was hooked and was on edge the whole time too because I need to know if we would find out what happened to Clark's father.

Loved this booked it had a little bit of everything and a whole lot of chemistry, sparks and definitely passion. I can say I was not disappointed these guys had me glued to reading page after page nonstop. Highly recommend reading and you will enjoy this story

Aliens comes amd take over the planet, some of the aliens merge eith humans. Lex is the comander of the invation force and get interesten in Clark, Clark change his view on humans and falls for Clark. Clark working both sides and falls in love with Lex. Clark struggles with his feelings for the alian, his friends and humanity. At the same time as he’d looking for what happened to his father.

This sort of reminded me of The Host in a way, but the very idea of “processing” is very neat! You don’t find out what it is until the end but I figured that’s what it was after you find out the aliens were in a mainframe. It’s all very intriguing and I really enjoyed the plot. I just loved Lex and Clark.

The Collaborator should be made into a movie. The novel itself was so deep and intricate in the emotions and understanding of humanity and about choices and misunderstanding. I really enjoyed reading this so much. I really enjoyed the main characters, Lex and Clark, and their journey together.

This was a great read. Great read from start to finish. This was a great read. The storylines are interesting and the characters are fun and exciting. If you love a great m/m romance adventure with fun characters are interesting people then this story is for you.

What a fun and sexy read. Aliens take over, but the fight is on. What would one man do for his family-just about anything. The one thing he didn't expect to do was fall for one of "them." What will he do when his people look at him as a collaborator?

This book kept glued to its pages. The plot was intriguing, the characters were well developed, there was action, adventure, and emotional angst. A great m/m romance and definitely worth the read.
