What if you lived another life?

A life you thought only existed in fairytales.

What happens when both worlds collide?

A silly accident puts Elle Worthington into a coma, and when she awakes, she can’t remember her name or anything about her life. She leaves the hospital and returns to a home that’s anything but ideal—her stepmother loathes her, her stepsister resents her, and her father’s a workaholic who’s rarely ever home.

She soon discovers that she is the head cheerleader and is dating Edward Kingsley, the golden-boy quarterback who’s madly in love with her. Everyone tells her how lucky she is to be with Edward, but for some strange reason, Elle is instead drawn to Rush Porter, her next-door neighbor—a brooding, reckless newcomer who’s too good looking for his own good! From the moment she sees him, he captures her attention and haunts her dreams, and he seems to know an awful lot about her.

When Elle goes to work for her eccentric aunt Adele who owns a chocolate shop, she begins to get a glimpse of another life—a magical life in which she was a simple peasant girl whose life changed forever the day she caught the eye of the prince. A girl who might have lived happily-ever-after had her heart not had other ideas.

She becomes trapped between loyalty and duty—betrayal and love, and a forbidden attraction so strong that it has the power to destroy her.

All is not as it seems on the surface. Dark forces are watching and waiting to claim what they deem to be theirs, and the fate of a kingdom rests in the hands of a girl who cannot remember who she is or where she came from.

This book grabbed me right from the very first page and I literally could not put it down!!! Jennifer Youngblood is an author that has been on my want to read list for a little while and I am so glad I started with this book because it is right up my alley.

There are a couple different storylines that make this interesting and kept me turning the pages very quickly! What I loved most was the love triangle between Elle, Edward, and Rush. Elle has woken up in a contemporary world but cannot remember anything about her life. She only knows that she is dating Edward, the football quarterback at school, who is very much in love with her. She quickly discovers she is attracted to Rush, her next door neighbor, for reasons she cannot understand. After starting work for her aunt at the chocolate factory she begins to have glimpses of another world that she feels drawn to and starts to question her relationship with Edward.

J.L. Youngblood created a magical world with a prince, a love triangle, a girl who can’t remember her life, and a woman trying to get in the way of true love. I am a huge fan of the show Once Upon a Time and if you are too you will want this one on your list. The story is told between two realms with back and forth scenes much like OUAT. This book is so well written and unique with intriguing, well developed characters. I enjoyed the medieval fairytales scenes and modern scenes equally as much. Such a great YA Cinderella retelling that I will pass on to my daughter to read next. It ends on a cliffhanger so be sure to grab the next book in the series and block out some reading time because once you start this series you won’t want to stop until the end. I am ordering my copy of Remembered this week and cannot wait to continue!

I received a complimentary copy of this book as a gift from the author. All thoughts and opinions are my own.

Forgotten-Grimm laws book1

This book is enjoyable. I found it once I got started that I read the whole book quickly. This is a Cinderella retelling with a bit of differences.

I'm interested to see what the next book has in store.

I read “The Grimm Laws” many rears ago shortly after the first two books were available. I watched as the two books were separated into four under different titles. Now the four are combined back into two with a brand new book soon being released soon as the first in the series.

The series does need read in order to get the full benefit of each book. “Forgotten” now contains a few updates which include and more fully explain events from “Bonded”.

I’ve loved “The Grimm Laws” since my first reading of it years ago and the additions tying it to “Bonded” are fantastic!

I just finished Forgotten by J.L. Youngblood. I am so in love with this series. That is a bit strange because I don’t usually like fantasy, and I also like a good solid ending instead of a scene that leaves things open for the next book. That being said, I still gave 5 stars to both Bonded and Forgotten. Why? One reason is being totally in love with these characters that feature so strongly in both books. (I’m still not sure about Adele. Is she new in Forgotten or did I miss something in Bonded? It doesn’t really matter because I love that lady so much.)
I’m not sure that I’ll change to be a fantasy lover after reading this series, but I do know that I will read anything that Youngblood writes. It’s a given that I will totally enjoy those books.

I have mixed thinking about this story. I was a little confused with the beginning 1/3 of the story. The rest of the story is interesting & different than other Cinderella retellings. It jumps back of forth between the present & medieval like times. I wish all the books were written because now I have to wait to find out where it all is going.

I am a big fan of fairytale retellings. I struggled to follow this one at first as it jumped around through several time periods and points of view. Eventually I got my bearings and could then relax and enjoy the story. This is a complex story with parallel story lines in two different realms. There are 2 strong heros and a very confused Cinderella. I am so glad that I was prepared in advance for the cliffhanger ending and have the 2nd book of the series close at hand to jump in to. Looking forward to seeing how this tangled mix of characters find their happily ever after! I can see how that might take a full series to accomplish.

The conflicts of power that were in the fairy tale kingdom of Aandover Peaks are brought into the modern era in this story. Some of the characters remember what happened, while others do not. It was interesting to see the two young men who were in love with Cinderella (Elle) in the past are fighting for her love once again in the modern era. It appears that love is timeless and that Elle will need to decide between Rush and Edward. This is just the beginning of the series, so her decision will not be revealed until later.

I liked the fairy tale twist and was engaged throughout the story. Not only is there the story of Cinderella, but also two brothers vying for the kingship, good vs. evil, and other side characters that you are just not sure of the role they play in the story yet. I am looking forward to reading additional books in this series. If you have ever watched Once Upon a Time and enjoyed it, then you will be happy to have found this series.

I was given a complimentary copy of the book. I was not required to give a positive review. Opinions expressed are my own.

Forgotten is Book 1 in The Grimm Laws Series by J L Youngblood. This story is no fairytale but, it does have a Prince and Cinderella. I liked that the story began in the time of magic and then modern with Elle not remembering anything. I found this story to be so interesting and well written. I can't wait to see what

Fairytale meets real life. Two worlds collide. People from one enter the other but only a few remember all. What happens when history repeats itself? Who do you trust when everything goes sideways and you're told the fairytale is reality? Timeline flips back and forth. Where should they be and with who?

Ends with a cliffhanger.

I received a copy of this book from the author. Review voluntarily given.
