Okay, so… still very good, but definitely not as good as the first two.
As I said previously, adding more POVs is not helping at all, everyone is starting to sound waaayyy too similar. And again, the clichés keep on coming. It’s all very well written and I like most of the characters, I want them so succeed, but a lot of the plot is too predictable.
Other bad aspects of the book are that the bad things never end and that people are making a lot of bad decisions. There’s absolutely no way a senior officer (captain, I believe) would accept the help of a kid who turned thirteen the previous week to fight against two mob groups. And the whole cult thing (Clockwork Orange much?) is infuriating.
I do love Zara (who got much better after last book) and Alex’s whole group (but the serial killer detour was… a choice). And Candice, surprisingly enough.
I’m still enjoying the series and I still recommend it cause it’s VERY interesting, but I feel a bit disappointed because the first book was simply amazing and this one could’ve been even better, but it didn’t even come close to the same level.
This was generally a good addition to the series. The plot moves well, as do our groups of characters, and Walter Peters continues to be a nicely complex character, particularly in his relationship to Zara. I usually don't care for the inclusion of a serial killer, because it has been done so often in this genre, but in this book, it had a twist which was nice. For all his smarts, Alex was a bit slow on the uptake there. The CONmen, Russo and Boston Police conflict was a bit drawn out and I'm kind of tired of Frank Russo. George really got a chance to shine here and I'm also glad the bikers were good guys for a change. There were minor editing issues (teeth are bared and not barred-unless they were wearing orthodontic braces). The segments about Lizzy's horrendous brainwashing were quite vivid and I'm curious where that takes her.
B.K. Boes and Mike Kraus' 3rd novel, in the sensational No Tomorrow Series, is Attrition A huge swarm of mutant mosquitos is cutting across the States, killing all but a few, without regard to race, gender or age. Throw into the mix escaped convicts and a large biker gang, at violent conflict with one another on a rampage, a murderous cult and a slew of disparate survivors trying to find refuge, and you might just get a flavour of what happens in Attrition. Who is Jesse King? Why does Walter Peters flee with Zara? Grab a copy to find out!
Recommended to fans of Aldous Huxley, Kevin Partner and Stephanie Mylchreest.
This is NOT a stand alone. Must read books 1 and 2 to find out who these people are and how they got to where they are. But, that being said, this is a good series and I like all the characters and their stories except for Lizzy. I don’t like where her story is going. But…there is a book 4 coming out and we will see how it all turns out. Oh…wait…there might be book 5, also.
Mike Kraus, and BK Bose, have truly written a brilliant post apocalyptic survival series. Boston, the main stay of the series, mobsters, Conmen, Police all fighting to rule, while a team of survivors unite to find a cure, a Cult, fights on to stop a cure.
This third book is unbelievable. Mutant mosquitoes, convicts and biker gangs to add to the danger. The survivors have a definite problem. Well written, strong characters that will have you gripped to the very end.
Totally different from other stories that I have read! Fresh take on things! There is a lot going on in this story so you have to keep up! Looking forward to what happens next!
