It was a new feeling, but I couldn’t stop thinking about the hunk I met at the Olympics.

Ty
When Declan Moore knew who I was at the Brisbane Olympics, I was speechless. Embarrassingly so. It took a lesson in sexuality from my bestie Luke and his secret boyfriend to blow the doors off my entire identity. They referred to it as a bisexual awakening, but it felt more like a bisexual slap-in-the-face.

My strength and reflexes rewarded me with Declan’s phone number by the pool, and it’s all I could think about when I got back to the states. Despite multiple tries - more times than I should’ve - he never texted back.

According to everyone, I’m supposed to get out there and explore the world of other dudes and their junk. There’s just one problem.

None of them are Declan Moore.

Declan
Returning from Brisbane with a gold medal in the decathlon was a dream come true, and I’d do anything to repeat it. But four years is a long time, and for now, all I can think about is the muscular blond gymnast that caught my eye and then caught me in his arms, saving me from a likely career-ending disaster.

I complimented his pommel horse routine - perfect - I flashed him my smile - also perfect - and I gave him my number. Was I supposed to lift him onto my shoulder and carry him back to my room?

Because it’s been months with no texts and no response on social media, and I can only last so long against my mother’s attempts at setting me up with “nice boys.”

I don’t want a nice boy. I want Tyler Hale.

Dickathlon is a full-length gay romance novel about two men who felt an instant connection trying to find their way back to each other. It features a made-up sexploratory checklist, the educational misuse of produce, a pants-tearing Santa, and a brat that doesn’t know how to spell ‘chastity cage’. As part of the Champions Series, it takes place between Rings of Lust and Floored by Love. While it’s not a requirement to have read those books first, it would enhance one’s Dickathlon experience.

Do you ever read a book and you can just feel the dudebro fumes emanating from it? Yeah, this is that’s book for me. This was very clearly written by a male man. The humour was so… indicative…

Anyway,

1. This book bothered me so much with the pacing like oh my god why was there such a disconnect between the progression of time, which by the way was fucking break-neck, and the development of feelings? Lemme explain. Took two fucking years for them to admit they loved each other and like one whole year to have penetrative sex. Which ok im all for taking it slow but with how head over heels they acted around each other i just didnt think it made sense for them.

2. As someone who is usually very accepting of time jumps, like i mean i dont usually mind the jumps if the characters come out of the other side having made progress, i dont give a fuck if its tell not show. As long as i know time has passed and that things have changed. But HERE????????? TIME HAS PASSED AND THINGS STAYED THE SAME. A ridiculous amount of time at that.

3. Man i love POC men. They’re usually written so well. So charismatic. And sure i could say that about Declan, im just fucking annoyed that he was never as much as described to us in a way that would actually indicate his heritage. We were told he’s black but while we had extensive detail about Ty’s long blond hair, we got nothing about Declan. Idk im just annoyed about that. Could be a me thing.

4. There was just too much fluff for this book to be so long. There was a golden opportunity for angst but the author didnt take it. The plot got to be a fucking drag at like 70% mark and i honestly stopped giving a fuck at that point. The whole sex thing towards the end made zero sense to me.

5. All that said, ill give it props for having me entertained for a solid two hours at the least.

Dickathlon is a must read if you’ve read any of the Rings Trilogy. Best book ever!! I’ve been hoping for a story between Ty and Declan since Rings of Lust. Tyler is an Olympian and Declan a Decathlon champion. They have a moment but then go separate ways. Due to a miscommunication, they struggle to reconnect. But when they do, all bets are off. Such a fun book to read, I giggled throughout most of it. Then the other times my glasses were fogged! Sweet, steamy and swoonworthy!! Overall, a phenomenal must read!! Well written with addicting pacing that kept me flipping the pages.

Oh yes. Yes, yes yes yes. This was exactly what I wanted for Ty. I loved him from the very first book of the og series, and I could literally read another entire book just based on him and Declan alone.

It was the literal perfect blend of sappy and steamy. Every bit of dialogue was perfectly tailored to read exactly how they would sound/think, and that’s literally the best in my opinion. I hate when a book is written in a way that doesn’t match up to the characters. I’m all for things being precise and whatever, but give me a book that feeds the movie in my head and I’m a goner.

I also love that there’s no bs in this book. Ty was always such a supportive and loving character for everyone else that he deserved to have a love story that was happy. They made space for each other, they made time for each other, and they grew together. There was a clear learning curve to full communication and it was well-developed. Even for young guys in a very unforgiving environment, they had so much consideration for each other that I wanted to force this book down my husband’s throat as learning material. I didn’t, but I wanted to. I’m sure he’s grateful for my infinite self-control.

Also! ~Casually~ D/s is a thing now. If it wasn’t before, I’m making it one now. And, like, had Declan not been exactly the *cAsUaL Dom* he was, and Ty hadn’t been exactly the *CaSuAl sub* that HE was, it wouldn’t have worked and I would’ve hated it. It was just.. actual perfection. The entire book was like reliving memories of actual people I know instead of reading a story. It GAVE.

The editing, proofreading, and consistency were great. Of course there are things I would’ve done differently, but that’s just personal preference and being really old, I think. Not everyone is going to format the same when they edit. Your commas and my commas aren’t the same, but neither of them are wrong, you know? Even as an ARC, there weren’t even ten things I got hung up on, so that’s like, pretty much a unicorn these days.

I’m so happy I got to be an ARC reader for this book. I already know this author and love their work, so it was really fun to feel special. The fact that it was so well done and amazing was a HUGE bonus, and made reviewing it part of the fun. I love when I can gush and be hype and have a million things I could talk about. It’s the best feeling, that good book high.

5/5. Congratulations, and well done, Finn!

4.5 stars. A very enjoyable and interesting read. I haven't had a chance to read the Rings trilogy but this works perfectly well as a standalone. I enjoyed the writing style, lots of humour and quite light but certainly not meaningless fluff. It's really nice to read about different types of sports, especially ones that don't generally appear in books. The title is unusual and daring, and absolutely fits.

So amazing! I haven’t laughed as much in a book in a while! Ty and Dec are so awesome together and vibe great, communication is a key ingredient to their success and feeling of strength with each other!

Our side characters play some key parts and add to the humorous moments in a big way!

These men are truly loveable and just ooze charm and delight with life and each other!

This is my first book from Finn Dixon, and won't be my last as I really enjoyed the characters and the low angst romance story.
To begin with, we join the story one month after the Brisbane Olympics where Declan and Ty first meet. However, texts and Instagram DM's go unanswered and so both feel like they missed their chance, even with the strong connection they thought they felt. That all pales into insignificance, though, once Ty experiences a huge, life changing event. Accidentally running into Declan brings him out of his funk and wanting to experience everything with the Olympic gold medalist.
A story that is quite fast paced and keeps things moving along. I really felt for both at what felt like their missed opportunity, and then for Ty, it gets quite intense for a while (a content warning at the beginning of the book should be read for this). When it comes to exploring his newfound bisexuality, Ty isn't interested unless it's with Declan and as his luck would have it, several months later he gets his chance. Declan is so sweet when it comes to being with Ty. He knows what he wants but also wants Ty to take his time and not rush into things. They seem ridiculously well matched but especially with their sexcapades, things get interesting and a little bit kinky. Emotions run high between them as they spend a lot of time apart, train for tournaments and make life changing decisions.
Dickathlon is set between books from other series but you can read it as a standalone. Other established couples are met and/or mentioned but it didn't impact my understanding of any of the friendships or relationships that occur.
An enjoyable romance that is very low on the angst apart from in the beginning when they had yet to reconnect and with Ty's incident. There are several loving and very nosy friends, once big oversharing family and a couple that were always meant to be together.
I received an ARC and am happily giving a review.

I'm so in love with this book! Tyler does not disappoint....his humor and goofy attitude is perfection. Watching him come into his own sexually was so great! I so often feel kink is thrown in your face or talked at me in a book and this Dom/sub was beautifully written in away that both characters were growing and maturing together in their sexual relationship. I also really appreciate time lapse in books that make relationships more realistic and this was done so well! Watching them navigate long distance and athletic superstitions and putting the goal of Olympics 1st was fun to watch....."I missed you" was maybe one of my favorite lines because you saw so much of Declan's vulnerability in it.....ugh! These two! These two were just so in love and you could feel it so strongly with how it was written!

Also.....we all need a Quinn in our life! This side character by far won my heart! She's so witty and her friendship with Ty is just the best!

I'd be remiss if I did not mention the perfection that was the Trader Joe's trip and subsequent fruit/vegetable sex ed discussion.....the friendships from this Champion Series is one of my favorite parts of the books!

I also read this at the same time I read the 2nd in the Rings trilogy of the Champion series. I would 10/10 recommend reading this before the 2nd book to chapter 24 and then pausing this book. Jump into book 2 and then finish this one once you finish Floored! Happy Reading!! Can't wait for more in this series!

**ARC COPY REVIEW***

When reading Rings of Lust by @finndixonwriting while I love Cam and Luke...Luke's bestie and fellow Olympian was there in the background just knocking on my heart wanting to come in...I had to read it to be able to get a better understanding of Dickathlon which is Tyler and his love interest, Declan's book...I was gonna try and read in Dickathlon up to where the 2nd book of the trilogy began..I just couldn't I had to finish their story...I had to see them through...i could not leave it I needed to know how Declan did in the London Olympics...but first I am getting ahead of myself...

Y'all we first see Tyler and Declan's first meeting in Rings of Lust..where Tyler has a self discovery that he is bisexual...he gets Declan's number...when Dickathlon picks up it is a month after and he has texted Declan but he never gets a text back, not knowing he had the number wrong in his phone...and he starts to go look for potential men to date but Declan is always in the back of his mind..Declan, takes a different approach taking the off season and having his fun but Tyler is still there in his brain...a few months later he dm's Tyler at Christmas unaware that Tyler had deleted his Instagram...the following year at a meet Tyler is severely hurt and is not able to return back to competing and is having a very difficult time..his brother takes care of him and offers him a chance to get out of town on a Bros trip..he is walking on the beach and stumbles into a guy and when he is helping the guy, his name is called...the person who calls his name is the friend of the guy he stumbles into turns out to be none other than Declan...they discover the mishaps and start journey of love and the game that Declan comes up with Dickathlon...the heat and the love and fun while they go through the ten levels of the game is so worth the ride...mixed with a little bit subbie mentality..😉😏

This is a spin off of the Rings of Lust trilogy, set between the first two books (which I had read). I was really looking forward to Tyler's story as I really liked him in the Rings books, and wanted to find out what happened with Declan.

I really enjoyed this, for the most part. I liked the start, Tyler was such a good character and I was enjoying his story, I felt so bad when he got injured though but was hoping for good things for him. I liked Declan too, and I really wanted these two to come together. When they did, it was fun. They had a lot of chemistry, and it was hot too. I liked the slight D/S dynamic there, and I was all for Tyler exploring his bisexuality and the whole Dickathlon idea was brilliant, too. It was fun, sexy, and hot.

The reason it's not a 5 for me, is because I wasn't really a fan of Tyler becoming so obsessed with Declan's junk. Like the moment they got together, he was magically better and all he thought about was Declan's junk, he either was getting it, wanted it but was being denied it, touching it, thinking about it, talking about it, looking at it like that was literally all he was from that point on. I think it was meant to be funny but it got a little wearing for me, seeing Tyler reduced to that. He was so much more than that at the start. I get it, Declan's got a big package but he's more than that too and I wish we'd seen that.

Overall this was fun, hot and I really enjoyed it.

I received an ARC and this is my honest review.

Tyler is an Olympic gymnast and Declan is an Olympic Decathlon Champion and ESPN Athlete of the year. They are attracted and after Tyler sustains a life altering injury, meet again. Slowly but eagerly, they get their sexy on making a game of it. They enjoy a world of smutty times while being sweet as sugar to each other. There is quite the focus on underwear, family and feelings in this story with lots of humor and refreshingly, no fuss about race. I enjoyed Finn's latest venture into his Olympic athletes lives. I received a copy of this book and this is my honest opinion.

I have loved Ty since we first met him in Rings of Lust and I was so excited to see him get his own HEA. He and Declan were just perfect together and this book was filled with all the good things! Laughs, sexy times, fantastic side characters, truly all the good things. An excellent read!

I have been waiting for Ty and Declan's story and I thoroughly enjoyed reading it. It was was sporty, fun, flirty, full of sass and banter and so hot 🔥 But it was also full of sensitivity and vulnerability. They were such a sweet couple that had their insecurities but I liked how supportive they were of each other. I enjoyed meeting some of the other characters too. I definitely feel we need Freddie and Dante's story too.

I needed this book after all the dark books I’ve read lately . I can’t count how many times I laughed at the comments most the characters came out with. It’s my first book by Finn Dixon but I’ll be reading more of his work.

(DNF@37%) Apparently in this case the summary is not an actual book summary but Tyler and Declan's complete backstory which happens somewhere during the Rings Trilogy, another series by the author about Olympic athletes falling in love.

We jump straight into the story a month after Brisbane Olympics to newly bisexual Tyler texting his Olympic crush, Declan, and then proceeding to mope around when Declan never replies to any of his messages. His friends Quinn, a female gymnast, and Luke, a male gymnast, are trying to cheer him up and talk him into hooking up with some other guy without much success. Luke is going through his own drama after breaking up with Cam, and I know their story is the focus of already mentioned trilogy, but I would have appreciated getting at least a little background information who these characters were even supposed to be instead of feeling completely lost.

Tyler goes on a trip with his brother and his friends and bumps into Declan again. Turns out they both have been pinning for each other for months and lack of communication on both sides has been an unfortunate mix up. So the two pick up right where they left of last time with Declan taking his time to educate Tyler on all things gay sex.

After their first encounter is where I decided to finally pull a plug on this story as both the writing and the characters left a lot of things to desired. The writing itself was not very good, it lacked a descriptive quality and mostly seemed to consist of dialogues. Declan came across as an asshole half the time. While his actions were actually quite decent, I found his thoughts off putting at times.

That was kind of a lie, because my dick was just fine with the assortment of holes it had been offered lately. Not that I was a slut, but since I don’t fuck during comp season, I had taken the opportunity to sow my seed amongst the local, younger-than-me twunk population.

Tyler seemed quite inoffensive as a character for the most part, but what can I say him constantly calling Declan 'bro' while they were getting it on really didn't do it for me.

This was my second story by this author (first one being a standalone Snowballing) and I had plans on reading the Rings Trilogy once it was finished but after this story my plans have changed as it has become obvious that despite the intriguing themes of athletes falling in love during the Olympics the actual execution leaves a lot to be desired.

Themes: dual POV, Olympic athletes, bisexual character,

What an awesome M/M sports love story by Finn Dixon! I absolutely enjoyed reading this one! He certainly put in some funny scenes, especially the one that takes place during Christmas!!!!! That one was pretty funny and an awesome scene. I love how Finn throws in the idea of a dickathlon where one MC has to do in order to get something at the end. That’s for you to read and find out! Definitely a 5 stars reading from me! Can’t wait to read more books in the “Champions” series!

The story starts with Ty, an Olympic gymnast who was “pining” over Declan, an Olympic decathlete as well. They had bumped into each others during the Melbourne Olympics and exchanged phone numbers. However, Declan didn’t seem to be receptive to it. Ty had thought Declan had moved on but continues to “stalk” him on social media. Declan had done the same thing.

A disaster struck Ty during one of the gymnastic invitation and he got badly injured as a result. He was out of competitions leading to the London Olympics. In the meantime Declan was getting tired of his parents throwing potential suitors at him. With the last suitor being thrown at him, it turned out the suitor preferred to do women but wanted to get under Declan’s father’s graces so he could get the fellowship. That was Freddie. No it’s not a M/M/M trope. How does Ty and Declan reconnect? That’s for you to find out. Just trust me and pick up the book to read to find out!

This review is really hard for me to write. But I need to be honest. There were parts of this book that I loved. I laughed several times. I even cried at a few points (happy tears). But I was not all in with it. There were too many things that bothered me. Which are pretty much all me things and not the authors things. For me personally **spoilers ahead** I was irritated that they didn't even run into each other again until 23% of the way into the book. I wouldn't say I was bored reading but I wanted to see them together. I hadn't read the trilogy and this is supposed to be a standalone so I just wanted them to get on with it. Then they just seemed to have constant sex, and while yes I know they were long distance we didn't get to see them develop the other part of the relationship. They talked about moving in with each other before either one said they loved the other and that was... They both thought it way earlier so I don't know why it took so long to say it out loud. I understood why Declan didn't want to because of Ian but not Tyler. The other thing that was weird was Tyler calling him bro. It felt very disconnected. All of that being said I did finish the book and I loved the last 4 or 5 chapters. They were what I wish the rest of the book had been.

This book takes place in between the events after the first book, but before the second book. While this is a novella type book, the length is that of a regular book.

I liked that we got Tyler and Declan's story, we got a glimpse of them being awkward with each other in the first book. In this one we got a follow up with what happened between them.

There was a case of Tyler texting the wrong phone number, a heart crushing injury, family shenanigans, and spicy times.

I loved Tyler's family, each and every character added so much humor to the book. I think his family have been my favorite out of all the Olympians families.

I liked this book, it was just as good as the other two in this series. I wish there weren't so many spicy scenes, I wanted more cutesy bonding moments, but that's just a personal preference of mine. Overall though I really enjoyed getting a different characters perspective. I really hope at some point we get Orion and Austin's story, I really want to know how they navigate their feelings for each other.

*I received an early copy of this book and this is my honest review.*

And The Gold Medal Goes to…

“I feel like I need a list of what we should do. Like, I’m about to compete in a sex competition or something.” “What? Like a dickathlon?” Declan suggested. I sat up. “Oh my God, bro. That was so smooth. And yes, exactly that. A dickathlon. Ten events I need to complete to win.” “And what do you win?” He raised his eyebrows. “I think the competition is the prize, but we can see once I’m finished.”

Declan and Ty’s romantic tale is Finn Dixon’s fourth book, and is part of his Champion series that revolves around olympic athletes.

Dickathlon is a unique, steamy, and fun story of two men, one who unexpectedly realizes he is attracted to a particularly exquisite specimen of a man, and can’t shake the feeling that they are meant to be together. After a horrific accident Ty’s world is upended, but he does find something quite special when he reconnects with gold medal winner Declan.

In Dickathlon, you find some angst, lots of physicality, tons of humor, lustful thoughts and actions, and the most sweet and special emotion - LOVE!

This book started in a very weird way. You will see 2 friends who sleep naked and cuddle and one of these 2 friends is our MC but the other is not and who are also bi and gay respectively. I was almost tempted to DNF as the first 70 to 80 pages out of 310 pages is completely a filler with this nonsense of how Tyler is being a good friend by cuddling his heartbroken friend, Luke, sleeping naked every night. And on top of this, they get caught doing the same in their parents house by Tyler's brother and surprise of surprise, family says how good Tyler is being a good friend to provide comfort to Luke. I mean, seriously?

Least to say, I hated the 1st 1/3rd of the book and it took this much of filler for the MCs to even meet after their initial meet up (which happens off page). It frustrated me!

2nd half of the book was more to my liking where such nonsense was not there. 1 extra * only for the saving grace of later half of the book.

This was my first book by Finn Dixon, and I had no problems reading this as a standalone. You could tell some of the friendships/relationships were developed in the previous series but it was not hard to decipher. I absolutely adored Declan and Ty. The initial meet/cute then wrong phone number then beach reunion sounds like a bad romcom, but it worked so well for these two. Ty had the time to understand his sexual revelations and to explore before pursuing the relationship he had already decided he wanted. It might have been a disaster if they had tried to jump right in! The pace that Declan pushed was surprisingly slow, but the relationship bloomed. I loved every excruciatingly sluggish step! I cannot wait to get more in this series, and will definitely going to read Finn's backlog!

Welcome back to the world of men’s Olympic Gymnastics. Tyler is an Olympian turned coach and Declan is the reigning Decathlon champion. No spoilers, but there are sex lessons with fruits and veggies, mild BDSM, and so much spicy sex. You find out the “why” behind the name of the book, and you get to see all your favorite gymnasts again – Lucas, Cam, Colton, and a couple of new ones. If you have read Rings of Lust and Floored by Love, then this is next. I read this between the two when it actually takes place and there are a few spoilers if you read it that way, but nothing that ruins Floored by Love.
I read Finn for the first time last year (2022) – Rings of Lust – and he has quickly become one of my one-click authors. It is nice to read about sports other than baseball, football, and hockey.
I received this book as an ARC, and this is my honest opinion.

So the main word that comes to mind after finishing this is “crass”. Just everything about it, the characters, how they spoke, their actions just bordered on crass the entire time. That doesn’t mean I didn’t enjoy it! I had a ln overall good time but it was definitely giving high school/college boy lingo. Twas very sexy which I appreciated. Definitely kinkier than I expected. Twas also verrrry much instalust/love but I accept it. Having this be the first book I’ve read from this author, I felt like I was missing some pretty significant scenes that take place in the original series this one is spun off from and I kinda wish I got those but alas I had to fill in those blanks. From the amount of cross over that these books seem to have it feels like it would be redundant to read that series after I’ve read this - and vice versa. Overall I had a good time though

I jumped into Dickathlon because I read Finn Dixon's holiday book, Snowballing. I didn't read the Rings of Lust trilogy so this review will showcase the book as standalone.

There were a lot of moving parts at the beginning because it's a spin off - we miss the initial meeting and the main characters don't connect with each other right away, but once you're situated the book flows really well and the humour, attraction and steam take over! I had to adjust my mental picture of the main characters as we went along, because I wasn't party to past descriptions, but that didn't take away from my enjoyment of the story.

If you like sports romance, especially featuring Olympic sports, you'll definitely want to add Dickathlon to your TBR.

I finally gave up; the slowness of the plot combines with the disconnectedness of the characters in the first half of the book to make you wonder why you actually care that these two got together, and whether it’s more than “they’re both Olympic medalists” and “one has an enormous wang and the other has no gag reflex”. I’m sure there is more, but I don’t care enough about these characters to find out.

Also, the plot somehow starts out with “we’ll go through a series of sex acts in a list”. Normally, I hate this plot trope (which comes up a lot), but conveniently here, it doesn’t seem to actually dictate much of the action of the book, though maybe it does in the second half. Guess I won’t be finding out.

I have read all of Finn's other books, so I knew I was going to love this one. Ty and Declan met at the Brisbane Olympics (via Finn's other series), but their story needed to be told. They had exchanged numbers, but through some error, the number was wrong, hence their ships passed in the night. Luckily for us, their paths crossed again by accident and their love story went from there. Loved the no angst love story that is full of steamy sex, though a very slow burn due to Decan being conscious of Ty's lack of experience, funny moments and a love that grew. Always a pleasure reading one of Finn's books. I look forward to many more.

I was looking forward to this book for a bunch of reasons - I loved seeing Ty and Declan’s meet cute in the precious books, I wanted to see more of Finn Dixon’s sexy as heck athletes and I knew it would be steamy and roll on the floor funny. Well, I got all of that and something rather unexpected. Knowing the author is AMAB and writing MM stories that he would want to read brought a different feel and I truly enjoyed the experience. Really great story and I look forward to more from this emerging author!

Great Read

I loved this from start to finish.
As well As the detailed sexual part of the relationship, the time out in to the quality and depth of the characters just 'topped' it off.
I wasn't expecting such a mixture of sex, love, humour, family and sincerity that I was hooked in reading the whole book by the time I'd read the first paragraph!
So thank you Mr Dixon for an intelligent, loving, caring and downright good fuck of a book, as good as I've read in a long time

I loved this story so much! Tyler is first introduced in the author's Rings series, where he's a promiscuous hetero guy. At least until he met Declan. In this book, he and Dec reconnect and things get wild. And these two guys are fun and funny and just a bit kinky. I also loved the Olympics background and how Ty, no longer able to compete because of an accident, becomes a coach. This was an excellent read that kept me entertained.

Another fantastic story from Finn Dixon! If you’ve read the Rings of Lust series you’ve already met Tyler and Declan, if you haven't you REALLY want to. Tyler and Declan’s story is wonderful, heartfelt, and HOT, so incredibly hot. The relationship between Tyler and Declan is swoony romance, fantastic connection, and a perfect HEA. Highly recommend it!!
