Maddie MacDougall has spent all of her childhood among horses and she can’t imagine a life without them. The yearning for adventure she has always harbored in her heart will lead her to a match sent from heaven, Carter, a horse breeder in Wyoming. She will soon be intrigued by his tales of wild mustangs and his chivalrous manners but she will also realize that his obsession with Thunder, the legendary stallion of Croy Canyon, can endanger both the animal and their relationship.
When love fuels the heart though, all obstacles can be overcome…
Carter Stone has led a harsh life among the wild horses, full of challenges and adventures. He has always wished to have someone by his side who shares this passion and when the match with Maddie is arranged, he is overjoyed. What he did not expect was to find himself stricken with her unique beauty or her rare wit, with which she challenges him when she differs from his methods.
Will he be able to tame her wild heart?
When the wild stallion and the herd that Carter and Maddie so much admire, are put at risk by a covetous man, they will be willingly thrown into a hazardous and possibly deadly situation to save them. Can their love for the horses and for each other be enough to save them? Or will the fate that brought them together eventually bring them to an utter end?
"A Heart as Untamed as Thunder" is a historical romance novel of approximately 80,000 words. No cheating, no cliffhangers, and a guaranteed happily ever after.
A happy ever after. I have yet to read a historical where a horse is the main character and I loved it Maddie and Carter were pretty awesome too. When I was much younger I got to see a herd of wild horses in Colorado it was such a beautiful sight. This story has villains, danger, suspense, and a beautiful love story to enjoy. It was a pleasure spending time with the book. It is a book I am happy to recommend.
This book has everything that makes it one you can't put down once you start reading! I love a good horse story, with hard work, overcoming, patience, and heart felt love. Maddie lives in the East, and answers a mail order bride ad from Wyoming, from Carter, a rancher. Carter's family has a horse/cattle ranch that is prosperous and run with heart. Maddie's family lives in Virginia, also raising horses, and Maddie is the best of the best at training. They decide to marry, and Maddie's mother and father accompany her to Wyoming to meet Carter and his family. They all get along grand. These two are soul mates. There is a wild amazing stallion that roams free, and one crazed maniac that wants to capture him. All the characters are bigger than life, and you will love most of them. (Can't love the bad guys!) This is one of those books that "takes you there" right into the story.
Liked this book from the first chapter to the last chapter. But I will have sol that I didn't like the fact that everyone achievement, illness. Injury, and disappointment was an event to fix with liquor. First book I've read where liquor was a big part of an event in early family life. Other than that, I liked the characters, the Story line, and that Maddie and Carter's families liked each other right from their first meeting. M
A fantastic story! Two horse trainers marry and protect this magnificent wild stallion, to keep him wild and free, from a greedy monster of a man.
Thanks to the author for providing this book for my honest review!
Reasons I enjoyed this book: Easy-to-read Unpredictable Entertaining Page-turner Original Romantic Realistic Action-packed Tear-jerker Happily Ever After Wonderful characters
I’ve always enjoyed your books and I still do… you’ve brought Thunder and all of these horses to life for us… we can all envision them as well as the characters in this story; they are each one completely filled out - even the dreaded Ollie Mason!!! Thank you for all the pleasure you have brought to all of Western and Horse Lovers who have read your books!
Maddie falls for Carter through a mail order service. When these two meet, they have an immediate connection. As Maddie helps Carter protect the stallion in the wild mustang herd, they learn to overcome their differences. This story has an excellent story to tell and is filled with horses, cowboys and those who protect and exploit the land.
I liked this story of two people who are passionate about animal welfare and horses in particular, were able to have a very happy marriage, stand against a nasty bully, and also help their friends.
Ahh, love horses, especially when like these in this story. A real page-turning, enjoyable story from start to finish. The characters are really engaging, you can identify with them and what is going on. Really enjoyed every minute of it.
