[I died and was accidentally reborn as an angelic monstrosity, so now I'm building a holy dungeon-tower that is tall enough to reach the gods; so that I can complain about it! But the humans think that I am trying to destroy the world.] [Volume 1]
The senselessness of so much of the world’s death and suffering is made apparent to the dying paladin, Isaiah, in his final moments before he perishes and is, shortly thereafter, reborn into a comparatively quiet and peaceful existence as a simple blackbird.
However, the powerful magic of the god whom Isaiah himself had served in his prior human life upends this latest existence, as a spell goes awry, turning the entity instead into a strange, angelic monstrosity that is neither man nor animal.
Isaiah, desperate to return to its simple life as a blackbird, sets out to build the tallest tower ever seen by the eyes of the world in order to reach the reclusive gods who reside in the heavens above and make them undo the transformation in a bid to allow itself an escape from the complex suffering of intelligent, self-aware mortality.
Will Isaiah be able to create the greatest construction that the world has ever seen? Or will its efforts be misconstrued by both the pious people of the world and the gods above, leading to a new age of strife? The ivory tower rises over the world, yet as it grows, so does its dark shadow stretch further over the landscape. Can Isaiah’s wish to reach the heavens ever be made true, or will it find itself tumbling back down toward the distant world below amidst a collapsing ruin and testament to mortal folly?

I liked the whole theme and style. The worker summons were fun And had excellent personalities. I didn't care for their race name though, I kept reading it as urethra which made it a bit jarring. I was hoping that the dungeon core's personality would develop a bit more humanity by the end. Also, unless I just missed it, I don't think the reasoning for the first minor deity basically pranking the MC with the blackbird reincarnation was ever explained.
Isaiah's route to becoming a core is interesting and results in it's taking a different path than usual. I like the characters, writing style, the vignettes of history of the novel's world and real-world information, and the plot. It was also really interesting to see a unique twist for the higher level inspector adventurers. The dungeon core has new threats looming and a pretty big decision to make. I'm looking forward to the next book.
I know it's for chafacter development but I was really hoping Isaiah got his bird life wishes
Love the story, love the informational tidbits, I even love the level up/monster descriptions. The lore is just so wonderful. Even if I am (a tiny bit) frustrated about how some events things go I can only just,,,keep reading. This story has me copletely enraptured. I can't wait for book two. Going to read it at the park perhaps, it's a wonderful Spring.
Isaiah dies gets reborn and then remade into a Dungeon. But he wants his old life back and plans to take it up with the gods. He builds up, makes friends, and survives a near death experience because of friends. He learns he can’t really go back but he can still confront the gods? A fun fast read, creatively and wonderfully told. Good pacing. Neat world building and interesting real world tidbits thrown in. Please enjoy.
A 14hr audio book. This is one of those stories that my imagination loves more than the actual story, the idea of a holy dungeon, a tower dungeon vs sub terrain, and a creature that was misused by all and still tries to not be evil. Overall, I am enjoying this story and its characters, I do not enjoy the major repeating stuff like all 34 floors telling the stupid levels over, or the stupid repeating of words "As if".
This has one of the worst starts that I have come across in quite some time. The nonsensical beginning that just screams pointless incompetence gives you nothing to go on. The initial building aspect is therefore vague and once more leaves you wanting. The characters are lackluster, the idea is okay but poorly executed, the dungeon is just bad.
Paladin/blackbird Isaiah wings it on how to be the world's first holy dungeon tower. It's really well thought out, and I like how the progression works.
