She was caught red-handed. There was no way around it. Suzie Fairstone had been caught trying to steal booze from the corner store.
Since her marriage went up in flames, everything in Suzie's life has been a mess. But even this was a new low.
Now she is stuck in Boothbay, at 45-years-old, with nothing to her name except a tiny apartment, a car full of memories, and twenty years’ worth of regret.
Oh, and a weekend in jail it seems…
Sheriff Freddy McCutcheon has the power to solidify her descent to rock bottom, but in a moment of empathy, he gives her an unexpected second chance - with the promise of keeping a close eye on her while she’s in town.
So much for her clean fresh start.
Then just as Suzie begins to get back on her feet, something even stranger starts to happen to her - it appears she’s being followed by someone who has secrets about her husband.
Who is this woman? What does she know? And what does she want from Suzie?
Maybe it isn’t a bad thing Sheriff McCutcheon is keeping an eye on her after all, because he might be the only thing that can help save her.
This is Book 2 of 6 of the Second Chance Romantic Mystery Series
Another will written romantic family and friends relationships mystery adventure thriller short story by Sage Parker (A Second Chance Romantic Mystery book 2). Suize continues to search for answers to Roger's murder. Abigail is a world of support at the lunch shop. Suize finishes her day and is entering her apartment when she is struck on the head. Continued in book three. I would recommend this series and author to 👍 readers of romantic mystery novels 👍🔰. Enjoy the adventure of reading 👓 or listening 🎶 to Alexa read books 📚. 2023 👒😤😮🏡
I enjoy Sage Parker books because I have been too most of the places where the books are located. Happy reading and have fun 🌙😀
Too many authors and series that I have started because the first book was free.
Parker doesn't waste time in setting up the plot of this series as Suzie is brought in for questioning in the death of her husband, Roger, in this second installment of the series. I highly recommend reading this series from the first to the sixth book as each installment ends on a cliffhanger that picks right up in the next, and is concluded in the sixth. I absolutely LOVE this formula that Parker writes in.
Roger's dead. Some woman is stalking Suzie all over town and demands that she turn over SOMETHING, but never states what it is, and Suzie can't quite hate our charming Sheriff, Freddy. But she sure as heck can hate on his partner, Jack, who is an absolute Ahole of the first degree.
Abigail continues to be my favorite as she does everything to help Suzie through this news and is right there when Stalker Woman comes into the café and makes demands of Suzie.
Suzie, is not my favorite. She is spiteful towards pretty much everyone, and though at first I found her lack of grief to be a bit suspish, it wasn't long before I was reminded of my own behavior during times of grief and that there is not a set of rules to follow, especially when you've just been slapped with the news that not only is your soon to be ex-husband dead, but he was mere minutes away from you and you didn't even know it.
This installment could do with another pair of eyes for editing and proofreading purposes.
Sage Parker frames the story that answers questions, but new questions pop up. Suzi is reeling from the mystery surrounding her husband. Now a mystery woman is making threats for her to hand something over. She is at a loss as to what she is referring to. Something happens to Suzi at the end of the book. You will have to wait for the next book to find out what happens next.

This story picks up where book one leaves off. Suzie is dealing with a strange woman stalking her and then is accused of killing her husband. Freddy is trying to figure out the connection and motive. It's an interesting read with descriptive scenes. I'm looking forward to the next book.
I voluntarily reviewed an ARC of this book. All opinions in this review are my own and freely given.
SAGE PARKER IS THE AUTHOR OF THE BOOK STARTING OVER IN BOOTHBAY. IT IS THE SECOND BOOK OF ITS OWN SERIES. AS MYSTERIES UNFOLD, THE BOOK ADMITS ITS TIME TO COLLECT AN UNREQUITED REMORSE FROM MOVING OUT. THERE IS NO ESCAPE BUT THE ACTUAL PROBLEM. THIS IS BETTER THAN A HEADSTART. IT IS A TERRIFIC TRIBULATION TO UNDERSTAND. WHAT THE HELL. IT'S THE NEXT BET.
Intrigue and drama are abundant in this book. Interesting characters that have complex issues that have to be addressed in this story. Keeps you guessing about what is going to happen next. Good read.
