Road Kill
On a road extraordinaire, I met a deer who wasn't there.
Emily Charron is only a few weeks from getting her Ph.D., but getting the final parts of her dissertation done in time for the graduation deadline is becoming increasingly hampered by academic power struggles. Chris Rodriguez, her best friend since kindergarten, is doing all he can to keep her from being overwhelmed.
Hampering both is the fact that Emily is one of a small number of people born with what some might call superpowers. But super is the last adjective Emily would use to describe her totally useless ability. The ability to travel in time is considered one of the iconic powers, but Emily can only use it to go back and keep animals from getting killed on the road. She's managed to keep it a secret from everyone, until now, and its revelation is going to change everything in her life, including her relationship with Chris.
Together, Chris and Emily need to find out what's happening at the university as well as what's happening between them. They've never lied to each other, but it's becoming increasingly clear that they haven't been entirely honest either.
Road Kill: A humorous, geeky, urban fantasy, romance, mystery with quirky time travel superpowers, academic skullduggery, a sarcastic Eurasian lynx, and two childhood friends that seriously need to sit down and talk to each other.

About the author
P.D. Haggerty
5 books5 followersPaul Haggerty is a semi-respectable SF fan, having read almost enough of the classics, though never being able to remember the details when pressed. Not being particularly clever, he is human, after all, Paul has entered into a partnership with the house cats, being their literary catspaw to ham-handedly transform their brilliant ideas into hopefully acceptable English.
In addition to writing fiction, Paul provides occasional reviews for SFRevu and Gumshoe Review
The second book in the planned trilogy, Road Kill, was published in August of 2022. The first book, The Lynx Who Came in From the Cold, was published in July 2023. Yes, it is possible time travel was involved.
The third volume, The International Criminal Conspiracy, was released in September 2025, and the fourth volume, Slayer of Rats and Other Stories, was released in August 2026. A fifth volume, focused once again on the adventures of Hyperion and Meagan, is now in preliminary plotting.

Road Kill
This was the second book of this series and it tied everything together. Hyperion the Lynx and Chris and Emily plus Meagan go through many fantastical events on the way to Emily becoming a doctor. Emily has the ability to touch road kill and time travel to different places. I thought this series was very well written and the plot was pure joy. I would highly recommend you try this author.

I am not sure why I liked this book so much. Parts of it were slightly boring, parts too funny, and some too exciting. Yet in the end, I was sorry to see it end. And so long until the next book. Tears, tears, tears.
