This is somehow the 6th volume of a one-note joke series (former Yakuza becomes stay at home Husband and approaches housekeeping like gangster life!), but it somehow works and doesn't devolve into endless sexist jokes like I thought it might. This isn't high literature or even comedy, but the art is very expressive, the comedy is cute, and there are enough side characters and new situations to keep this diverting. The household economy and women's guild set pieces work pretty well here. A fluffy, cute, murderous kitten of a manga series.

**Thanks to the artist, publisher, and NetGalley for a free copy in exchange for an honest review.

I've read the individual chapters months ago, but reading them now in a collected version still claims a hearty laugh from me.

The funniest chapter 49, where Tatsu works with the recurring nameless otaku guy to get Miku (a huge Policure fan) some quality limited anime merchandise.

The last bonus story is also spot on. It features Tatsu's cat getting cut, if you know what I mean.

The anime kind of dampened my enthusiasm, but getting to the original source reminded the reader of how funny this series is.

Still hilarious, but I'm still wondering if this is going to take a very dark turn at some point ^^'

Another funny as hell volume.

This time we have the adventures of our house husband joining the group of Dragons, a very fierce group of house wives and women who don't fuck around. Then we have our hero try to get a cd for his wife only to have to showcase the secret password and moves. Another hilarious story with our main hero and his wife trying to help their friend save money.

This is such a great, funny, and enjoyable manga.

The Way of the Househusband, Vol. 6 continues where the previous tankōbon left off and contains the next nine chapters (46–54) of the on-going manga series with three bonus chapters.

It continues the adventures or rather misadventures of Tatsu, once an infamous and feared yakuza boss nicknamed "the Immortal Dragon" and now a househusband. The episodic series depicts a variety of comedic scenarios where Tatsu does ordinary things, but cause humorous results with his fellow his wife, family, former member of his yakuza, and other yakuza members from other groups.

This tankōbon is written and illustrated by Kousuke Oono. For the most part, it is written and illustrated rather well. About half of the stories centers on Tatsu's relationship with his wife Miku, like helping her get a limited and rare Policure card, helping her friend to be a better saver and housewife, watching a horror show together, and piggy out on a mountain of junk food to win a Policure rare collective plate.

A rare two part story has Tatsu wanting to join the Women’s Association, but have to face the formable Eight Dragons – Presidents of the Women’s Associations in nearby cities. Other humorous story has Tatsu helping out a friend to expand his menu, bringing Masa to the dentist, and dog sitting and bonding with fellow dog lover – Kunimi, a rival Yakuza boss.

All in all, The Way of the Househusband, Vol. 6 is a wonderful continuation to a series that seems really intriguing and I can't wait to read more.

I will not get tired of saying how wonderful this freaking book is! Augh, I love Tacchan's character so damn much! I've been squealing like a pig. I really adore this freaking series! I found out about the Netflix adaptation though, and am so disappointed. Why you gotta do Gokushufudo like that? Best manga, worst adaptation.

By the way, the 2 or 3 panels for flashback are making me hungry for more! Augh!

I am late to the party with this fun manga release. This ongoing series shows the adventures of a Japanese mafia member trying to go straight and be a stay at home husband. As a wife myself, it is hilarious watching someone’s husband try to do the job with which I am so familiar. It is so gratifying to see a tough guy (or a wise guy, really) have such a hard time with tasks some do every day, while being honest and comical. The list of adventures that he could get into are endless and really build up the balancing act that those that stay home and work must juggle. The artistry is beautiful and there is so much to see in each panel. With an adorable main character, all the mini stories I have encountered so far end happily. In addition the Japanese culture seems to transfer over with no problem, making me excited to learn more similarities. I will be reading the backlist on this manga, and looking forward to more in the future. I thank NetGalley for an ecopy of this release for an honest review.

This was quite fun! Its basically random adventures like Tatsu joining the women's association and learning the flower arrangement thing and then there is the deal with his wife and her obsession with Policure and then too much food adventures or getting Masa to a dentist, its fun and one of the best manga's out there! Also the art gets so good like some close up panels particularly! And loving the different personality sides of Tatsu and how when he says one things people assume extreme yakuza things...its super funny!

Can't tell you enough how much I love this series.

Still surprising how wholesome an ex-mafia turned househusband can be when he's out shopping, cooking, dog-sitting, and the like. Never disappoints.

Thank you to Edelweiss and Viz Media for the ARC

By most reasonable logic, this series should have run its course by now. 6 volumes in and Kousuke Oono, in theory, should have either run out of ideas for the main conceit of this series or should have started repeating some of the same notes to the joke. However, this volume proves there is still unexplored territory for the author and the characters.

I really enjoy this series and was really afraid that I was coming to the end of solid performances from it. This volume though makes a smart pivot, it introduces a new group (the local women’s association who all have some stellar nicknames) and it features more of his wife Miku and the dichotomy between them. Especially when she tries to do things in public with Tatsu you can lean into the yakuza tropes and the suburban gags and it lifts the stories.

A fun volume with a couple sillier side stories included and some great husband/wife dynamic.

Every time I pick up a new volume of this series, I think "what can the househusband get into this time?" "How can the joke keep going without getting old?" Well, somehow, this series is so funny through both the illustrations and the dialog. I love the characters and how they defy one's expectations of what will happen. I love the dog sitting adventure, and Tacchan's disgrace in front of a panel of expert house wives. Tacchan just always seems so sincere in completing all his tasks to perfection, despite his flashbacks to Yakuza bloodbaths in which he participated. Crazy as it seems, this volume provides lots of fun once again.

Okay, so, I didn't immediately request this volume as soon as it came out, because while I was amused reading the last one, it felt stagnant. This volume, while still lacking in giving us either a big arc or the backstory/courtship of Tacchan and Miku that we deserve (but will likely never, ever get, *sighs*), but it almost annoyingly gets away with it because the situations are still so laugh out loud hilarious.

Este tomo es genial y casi todo está en la segunda temporada del anime.

Mis capítulos favoritos son el de los ocho dragones, el del festival y el de los perros. ¡Me encanta como mantiene el nivel y el humor la serie!

Tatsu helps out his wife’s friend, tangles with an ominously named women’s association, and takes care of an overly adorable pooch. Also, this title appears to be really, really in love with its Precure parody.

Another volume, another heaping helping of absurdist goofing around courtesy of Tatsu and company. If you like this style of ‘Yakuza in an apron equals funny’ comedy, rest assured that nothing has changed.

For the most part, I still like the joke, which is quite remarkable given the length of time we’ve been going with this. The story where Tatsu is helping a housewife learn to save is fine enough, but definitely more of the same.

Once the women’s association shows up (and is given an appropriately ridiculous name), things kick up a notch, largely because this involves the mundane being amped up by Tatsu’s perception, rather than the former reacting to the latter - the introduction of every association member as some sort of kingpin is absolutely perfect.

As I mentioned, the very odd Precure parody, Poli-cure, shows up rather a lot in some odd ways, fuelled by Tatsu’s wife being a major otaku for the show. There’s an incredibly strange chapter where an incredible amount of bread is consumed (no thanks to Tatsu).

The better use of this comes when Tatsu attempts to get a limited edition item and manages to convey the exact wrong thing to a poor clerk, which leads to him teaming up with a different otaku for one hell of a floor show. It’s fun and the otaku makes a couple more amusing appearances throughout the book.

Honestly, the best chapter is probably the one where Tatsu is looking after a fairly adorable dog that does go the usual route, but juxtaposes the usual overboard interpretation with some darling visuals. The last shot of the chapter is pure gold.

Top it off with some bonus manga that are fairly cute - the look of betrayal on that cat might be the funniest thing in the book - and you have another solid entry for a pretty fun series.

3.5 stars and the dog park and the cat antics will nudge this one up. Now that we seem to have this on a less frequent release schedule it makes it far easier to appreciate the joke when these do come out.

I pretty much binge read the first 5 volumes of this manga in one afternoon a couple of weeks ago and ADORED it, so I was super excited to see volume 6 on netgalley.

This manga is just hilarious, I love the characters and the situations they're but in. The author manages to make it interesting throughout even though it's not following a linear storyline. I got super attached to the characters and love seeing all the shenanigans they get up to.

Volume six was my lest favourite of them so far, but to be fair I read it while feeling really sick so I can't say that didn't impact the enjoyment. Will continue to buy the volumes as soon as they hit the shelves and I highly recommend to anyone looking for a fun manga series :)

Six volumes in and this series continues to put a smile on my face with every release. This time around Tatsu finds himself having to pick up an item for his wife, take his friend to the dentist, and deals with a case of insomnia. Seems pretty easy...unless you are a former Yakuza member who has absolutely no way of dialing it back a notch.
