This series has a special place in my heart. It was the first BL manga series to hold my attention and start me down the path that eventually led to MM romances.

The first few volumes were AMAZING and I always had a hard time waiting for the next volume to be released. I've noticed, however, that everything after volume 9 has been kind of... meh. The stories aren't terrible but they're just not as interesting or fun as they used to be and I honestly think that the creator has simply run out of things to write about. Masahiro and Kousuke are together, both friends groups are aware of their relationship, and Natsuo has been put in his place for trying to break them apart.

At this point I'm more interested in what's going on between Natsuo and Yuge or, God help me, Hasekura and Kensuke. This same thing is happening with another series I like, Candy Color Paradox. All good series are only good for so long and after that it's just nostalgia that keeps readers coming back. It's that nostalgia that's going to ensure that I definitely buy volume 13 when it comes out even though I know it probably won't be that good.

Random thoughts and comments (minor spoilers):

Each volume seems to be less and less coherent and while I understood what was going on, the translations made it more difficult to follow than it needed to be.

There were time skips in this volume that weren't immediately apparent and that made what was going on feel rushed and kind of confusing (example: Masahiro moved back in with his mother for an unknown period of time, probably a few weeks, and you'd miss it of you weren't paying attention).

Kousuke used to be so cool but lately he's been acting so weird that he doesn't even seem like the same character from the beginning of the series.

I have no fucking clue what the hell is going on between Hasekura and Kensuke. Kensuke is now calling Hasekura "Big Brother" for some reason? And Hasekura kind of... likes it?

I'm equally confused about Houjou and Ayaka's marriage. Did they not love each other when they got married? Like I said, it was hard to understand what was going on in this volume.

I hate how kid-ish all the grown ups now look. Houjou, Kousuke, and Natsuo all still look the same but they're aging backwards. I pulled out volume one to compare and it's undeniable how much more attractive Kousuke and Natsuo used to be. Even the kids are looking younger than they used to.

Finally, the main story of this volume pretty much follows the same established pattern of 1. Masahiro has problem, 2. Masahiro does not want to talk to Kousuke about said problem, 3. Kousuke feels confused and left out but tries to help Masahiro out anyway.

I hate giving anything from this series less than 4 stars but this really doesn't deserve anything higher than 2.75 stars.

*Sigh* I am just going to say it, I think Masahiro and Kousuke's story is at its end or should be. This volume added nothing to their story. They finally have told the parents, Masahiro stood up to Kousuke's friends, and they are living together; Masahiro has come far from the first volume, and so has Kousuke. At this point, I feel like there is not much more to tell.

This series is the longest Yaoi romance series I know of in the manga world, and I love every character and the relationships. I think that there is no more to write about Masahiro and Kensuke. I am interested in seeing the relationship between Natsuo and Yuge and seeing where that goes. I would love to see more of the backstory of the teacher's assistant Kaide and her love interest. Other than that, I feel like the series has run its course.

Also, as each volume passes, I get more and more lost. In this volume, in particular, random flashbacks occur and are confusing, scenes that don't make sense occur more often than not, and Masahiro is with his mom, but you don't know why or for how long. Also...why in this volume is Kensuke calling Hasekura "big brother"...did I miss the context behind it? We get this flashback with Ayaka (Hasekura's sister) and her husband Houjou, and it makes no sense to the story and is randomly thrown in. Also, is it just me, or did the art style change for some of the characters like Kousuke, Natsuo, and a few others? Do they look younger? They don't look anything like the earlier volumes. Also, this volume, in general, looked more cartoon-like than average.

I'm not saying that I won't buy volume 13, as this series has a firm place in my heart and tons of nostalgia. I think the sun is setting on the story of Masahiro and Kousuke.

I love this series and this was a really good entry. I've been thinking of buying the hard copies of the series and this just makes me think it's a good idea. I've been wanting to reread

Uh oh. Hasekura’s gonna flip his lid if he has to share Kensuke with yet another friend.

I’m glad Masahiro and Kousuke are working through things. It can be a very fine line letting someone keep some of their pride when finances are involved.

The Ohshiba parents are still conveniently parked in Tokyo while Setagawa and Kousuke figure things out at home. Two big issues are coming up: finances and exes.

Setagawa hasn't bothered telling his mom what's going on with him, because she's genuinely such a bad parent, she possibly hasn't even noticed that he hasn't been sleeping at home for weeks. What she has been doing is spending his school money on other things - like alcohol and host clubs, probably - which leads to some awkward situations with the teachers having to come to Setagawa directly to ask him how he'll handle the bills for his practice tests and an upcoming school trip.

Some of this wouldn't be that hard to sort out, since Kousuke is more than willing to throw money at the problem, but Setagawa's pride is kicking in hard. He wants to take care of it himself without always relying on his boyfriend/fiance to bail him out. And Kousuke is trying his best. It's tough for him, to sit back and not barge in to fix things or shout at Setagawa's mother for consistently putting her son in such awful situations.

What I like is that, as always, they talk about things. Kousuke even apologizes for getting too angry at Setagawa's mom, because he understands that at the end of the day, Setagawa does still love her and wants to take care of her, even if that isn't supposed to be his responsibility. That's just the kind of person he is, and it's one of the things that makes him someone Kousuke is head over heels for.

Meanwhile, there are some hints about Kousuke's past dating life strewn in, with an ex-girlfriend who'd worked in a diner and taught him some recipes. My guess is that's the woman who's helping out at the ramen shop where Setagawa works, although we'll see. It really shouldn't be anything dramatic; people have exes, and Kousuke was never in love with anyone he'd dated in the past, so it's not as though anyone reentering their lives would present a problem.

Houjou and Ayaka are having some relationship troubles; she wants a divorce, although I doubt that's going to happen. I would like to see more of the good parts of their relationship, though, and what made her love him to begin with. That flashback talk about "one of us should marry Ayaka" was a little bit weird. Were they not actually in love? What caused them to get married?

It looks like the Hasekura mother is back in the picture, so we'll see how that impacts things, including Ken and...possibly Onda? That part was still kind of out of nowhere.

There's another new character entering the picture, possibly as some sort of competition for Ken's time, since he's a gaming prodigy and I guess that's turning into Ken's skill area. I don't know how I feel about that. It kind of seems like a stretch to try to keep their part of the story interesting, but I was actually perfectly fine with them being a calm background couple while we figured out the more interesting dynamic between Kousuke and Setagawa.

Another wonderful volume from Me eco Arii

The wait for volume 12 was Apollo worth it. Volume 12 DID NOT disappoint. As Kousuke and Masahiro navigate their relationship with the Oshiba family's blessings the two venture into life as a family and how it's ok to rely on your loved ones but also work hard for what your heart desires. I love seeing the bond between Masahiro and his friends and how much their relationship has grown. The foreshadowing was epiiiiccc!! Can't wait for volume 13!!! Please make season 2 for the show!!

I kind of feel like the series is starting to lose its steam. I do still love the series but it feels like there's not a whole lot going on. There's only a little development here and there. I kind of wish the story would progress faster. Masahiro and Kousuke's story feels 'finished' and Kensuke and Hasekura's relationship is getting there too. There are two other couples that I would love to see get more screentime but they barely get acknowledged until the bonus content.

I have volume 13, I'm going to continue reading of course but I hope something happens soon.

Would probably give this 3.5 star rating. Enjoyed it more then volume 11. Bit of a slow, and slightly confusing start but picked up after a bit.

I’m still enjoying the couples and the story, though... yeah.. I wonder what else can be written for them? I like seeing them develop, and its always a good read, even if not amazing. I just... wonder how much more there could be to cover?

Guess I will have to wait and see.

The begging was a little bland but it really started to pick up there in the middle. I can’t wait to see the development with this new character and the possible talk with his mom. So excited!
Also though is anyone at this point curious how many volumes this will eventually have or is that just me.

3.5 because I like how serious Masahiro and Kousuke's relationship is getting, but a big part of the book focuses on Kensuke and Hasekura and I really don't get that relationship or Kensuke's attitude.

The exploration of the little bumps in the road in a relationship is always done nicely, the over all story stays sweet but had its own depth!
