When the ghosts of his past rise, both beautiful and ugly.

After the attack on Melanie Fitzpatrick, the Fitzpatrick family of mountain lion shifters summons its allies to Evergreen--among them, Daisy Kelly, a young lioness shifter with special gifts and a rocky history with Sam Fitzpatrick.

Sam wants nothing (and everything) to do with Daisy. For the last eight years, his best friend's little sister has represented all that he wants but can't have. The traumatic events of his past won't allow him to get anywhere near someone so seemingly perfect.

But Daisy's not the unblemished princess Sam thinks. And when his daring leap at love ensnares him in ways he hadn't seen coming, he soon discovers there's a mole working from inside the Fitzpatrick camp...and it just may be the young lioness Sam loves.

Fans of Kresley Cole and Gena Showalter will devour this steamy continuation of the Secrets of the Northland Shifters series.

USA Today bestselling author A.S. Green lives in chilly Minnesota and spends the all-too-short summers on Lake Superior, which is the muse for her paranormal and contemporary romances. She writes complex characters, action-packed plots, and snarky in-your-face banter. And, of course, loads of steamy love scenes.

When she's not writing romance, she's probably watching Outlander or pleading (unsuccessfully) with her husband to don the kilt she bought him last summer.

Fae hunters were going to be the death of me, but in the usual way. Nope. With my luck, those bastards would indirectly lead to my death-by-broken-heart.

4.25 stars!

Trigger warning: child sexual abuse/child grooming, sexual assault, physical abuse

Up until now, this series has been a fairly light-hearted and easy-read, but this novel and these characters will break open your heart. Sam is such a tortured hero after everything he has been through, and I'll be honest I cringed while reading his flashback scenes. My heart absolutely broke for him and his feelings of unworthiness, but at the same time I admired Daisy for her relentless hope and spirit despite her past traumas. These two broken souls were made to heal each other, and I loved their tender yet passionate encounters. I cannot believe that Anne left us on the cliffhanger that she did, but I still cannot wait for the next book!♡

Tropes: fated mates, childhood trauma (sexual abuse), tortured hero, broken heroine, childhood friends-to-lovers, second-chance romance, reluctant hero, secret pining, will they/won't they, cliffhanger ending (part of a series)

A.S. Green's Love That's Lionhearted is the next book in her Series - Secrets of the Northland Shifters and concurrently takes place at the same time as Renegade's Lionesses is ending. It focuses around the mountain lion & lioness Sam Fitzpatrick and Daisy Kelley. We start to learn about them in previous books and now it's their turn next.

A.S. Green takes us on a roller coaster of all types emotions & action! Be prepared to experience it all!! Heartbreak, longing, lust, protecting your Family first & your needs/happiness coming in second, swoon-worthy sex, danger (new & old), trauma, trigger warnings of a brief mentioning CSA & assault, acceptance that you are worthy of love all wrapped up in the magic of the fae world.

I read this in one setting, took a few days to process - cried over some parts, laughed at others and sighed in contentment as I re-read some passages. What Sam & Daisy experience in their own lives and together - has you becoming their cheerleader for them to succeed. A.S. Green is a master story teller in her world-building craft, emotional development & range of her characters & their chemistry together, twists in her engaging storylines and overall enjoyment. Part of her many talents is having her books become a part of your own life - you care what happens to each couple.

If we all could be kissed like Sam kissing Daisy...

"...He yanked me closer, and my heart jumped when his mouth hit mine. There was nothing slow or hesitant about this kiss. He kissed me hard and fierce like a lion staking his claim. Like my lioness wanted to be kissed. My blood pounded in my veins, and when he tore himself away, all I could do was stare at him in wide-eyed wonder..."

⚠️ Love That's Lionhearted ends on a Cliffhanger, but we all know A.S. Green will have answers for us in her next book - His Lion's Pride coming out soon.

Definitely treat yourself and read Love That's Lionhearted... double treat yourself and read everything from A.S. Green...I have!! 😉

Revelations and mystery, but still waiting on resolution
This author is a master of the cliffhanger! But please, do not let that deter you!! Love That's Lionhearted (Secrets of the Northland Shifters Book 5) by A.S. Green is such a good read. Sam is a very conflicted, confused and emotionally scarred mountain lion shifter. To most everyone, he appears normal and happy, not a care in the world. But inside he is dealing with a secret from when he was a boy and this secret haunts him presently. So much that he has denied himself everything and the one who could make his happiest.
Daisy is a ray of sunshine on one hand for Sam, and a harbinger of dread on the other. They have an opportunity for a second chance, but forces seem to work against them in addition to the negative self-talk Sam feeds himself constantly.
The plot is robust and at the end, even more mysterious. As two other clans join the Fitzpatricks to put an end to the threat to their family, there's more danger, a direct and imminent threat to Sam, and assumptive facts as to who a mole may be in the combined groups.
Overall, with Sam in peril, I am on pins and needs for the conclusion of this series! At the same time, I am sad that the last book is coming. I have so many questions!!! With Daisy in the dark and missing, Sam held captive, the next book feels like it is gearing up for a major and shocking resolution in His Lion's Pride.

Daisy has travelled to the lodge to be with her family as they were called in to help with the Fitzpatrick’s dangerous situation. Daisy is nervous about seeing Sam again after what happened.
Sam didn’t expect to see Daisy and is struggling to cope with having her around. He doesn’t feel like he is good enough and doesn’t want to taint her with his darkness but, he can’t stay away as Daisy is drawn into the danger.
This is a great book about trying to overcome their past to have a brighter future. Please bear in mind that this is only part one and does end on a cliffhanger!

I loved getting to read Sam and Daisy's story and with each page I read I was pulled into the story. Both Sam and Daisy have their own past traumas but these two were so perfect for each other. Love That's Lionhearted is book five and a great addition to the Secrets of the Northland Shifters series. After that ending I can't wait to read the next book in the series to find out what happens next. I voluntarily reviewed a copy of this book.

Loving Sam and Daisy's story!

There is so much going on with these two. Strong characters on their own, together they could be an incredible force. If only they (and others) would allow it to happen.

It's a roller coaster of a ride, and will leave you on the edge of your seat. Can't wait to see the outcome in the next book!.

Each book is better and better

I’ve read all of the books and am about to start the last one. This has been an exceptionally good series. Lots of different stuff then other shifter series. I can’t wait to get into the last one .
