Riley Malloy, vet tech and dog whisperer, suspects her father’s death seven years ago was not an accident. Her enemy waits for an opening to kill Riley. Riley Malloy is the only person alive who can solve long-ago murders and expose the crimes of an international ring. Riley doesn’t realize the significance of her grandmother’s letter or the documents she finds or how desperately her unknown enemy watches and waits for an opportunity to destroy the evidence and kill Riley.
Award-winning author Judith A. Barrett lives in rural Georgia with her patient husband, FarmerMan, and two spoiled farm dogs. When she's not writing, you'll find her outside gardening or with her husband and dogs.
Judith A. Barrett writes thriller, mystery, and survival science fiction series. Her unusual main characters are brilliant, talented, and down-to-earth folks who embrace solving difficult problems and righting wrongs.
Good story, and we are friends with these characters by now. Unfortunately there are some serious plot holes. Riley learns about a vital bit of her own past on page 76 and on page 84 suddenly they’re talking about it at dinner as if everyone always knew. There’s a big gap it almost feels like a chapter or 2 are missing. A key is mentioned in a grocery store conversation with Mrs. S , but later Riley says she was given the key. In the story written by one of the characters there’s a spot where the Rita character is referred to as Riley. Overall it’s a good story and a fun mystery but these things made it a much more awkward read than the other 3 stories.
Another exciting Riley story. Seems like this book left lots of loop holes for additional books in the series. Now if Barrett could write faster so we weren't left waiting so long for the next book it would be great. This series is similar to the Maggie Sloan series and I love it as well. Both are great reads for virtually anyone. Clean language and no sexual content so a youngster could enjoy. The characters are wonderful and well developed so they seem very real.
Enjoyable and easy to read. Love the chatter between Riley and the animals and enjoyed the addition of new animals such as horses. Riley and Ben also enlarge their circle with more friends and family and it will be interesting to see where things go from here. Keep writing Judith!
It was fun catching up with Riley and Ben but this time the story fell flat. Too much talking and eating, not enough story or animals. And it didn't really end. I'm disappointed.
