Feral Shifters #1-4

Feral Shifters: Complete Series

Rate this book
Dangerous. Alluring. Ruthless.

They're the villains of this story... and my fated mates.

Three years ago, a darkly handsome stranger stole my heart. After one night together, I was certain I’d found my fated mate—until he rejected me and disappeared like a shadow.

I never told anyone about that night. I shoved the shattered pieces of my soul into a locked box and pretended I'd never met Kian.

But when a witch whispers a dire warning in my ear one day, everything changes.

Because I don’t just have one mate. I have three.

Feral shifters, she calls them.

Wild, untamed, and fueled by darkness, created by a magic no one has ever seen before.

These three dangerous, psychotic monsters could tear apart the world as we know it, unless I hunt them down and stop them first.

They say all's fair in love and war... but sometimes love is war.

The Feral Shifters series is an action-packed paranormal romance with cursing, violence, anti-hero alpha males, high steam, and a badass heroine who isn't afraid to get her hands dirty. This set contains all four books in the series—Rejected Mate, Untamed Mate, Cursed Mate, and Claimed Mate.

This was an OK series for me. I recognize the guys' are assholes for a reason but I was never really able to get over their dickish behaviors in the beginning. While I truly appreciate a completed series all in one, this one dragged for me and it didn't help the heroine just gave in to them at every turn. I was also on vacation when I started this collection so it was hard to stay focused because of that but I also wasn't a fan of the mate bond being treated as it was. Sometimes a harem situation can seem overwhelming especially when the men literally or just metaphorically gang up on the heroine and that's the vibe I got here too often.

Oh, this book was such a ride, and I loved it. I was craving a shifter storyline, and Callie Rose did not disappoint!!

This was my first book by this author, and I was really excited to see that it came in an Omnibus version. I bounced back and forth between the Kindle edition and the audiobook.

The narrators for the audiobook were phenomenal.

Feral Shifters is a quartet of cracking books that follow Amora (FMC) on her quest to stop a prophecy that involves her and 3 shifters - Malix, Kian and Frost as well as the end of the world. One night with of them leads her on roller coaster ride of journey of discovery for all of them. Chock full of great plot twists & turns and fast paced action. With cracking characters and plenty of steamy scenarios too. Its one hell of a read and i loved reading it

Im going to leave a review for each book, here, adding thoughts periodically, too.

Book 1:

I am at only 8% into this book, and I am struggling so much. There is a 3 year gap, and when we pick up, supposedly there has been a whole war, losses, and she gains a best friend who is her friend's mate. That's about all we learn about it, too. I was curious, so I started reading some reviews, only to find out that this is a spinoff series. All the world building was done in the first series.

You can't do that! If your world building is another series, then this cannot be a spinoff, it has to be all part of the same. At the bare minimum, there need to be some sort of disclaimer or note indicating that everything really starts with this other series over here, then you will understand this one more.

As it is, we find out that some random witch told her that she has 3 mates, and they will end the world, so she has to stop them. So, she decides to just randomly drive around looking for them so she can kill them? This is just so disjointed. I have no doubt I wouldn't be as confused if I read the other series, but here's the thing: I don't want to. Not only that, but as a spinoff/standalone, I shouldn't have to. The author majorly dropped the ball here.

OK, I have finished the first book now, and things did get better. I also now see why we have the single POV, so we dont have any more insight to the guys than she does. I have to say, I totally did not expect that twist at the very end. It was completely unexpected, and I don't see how they would move foward from there. The other thing I don't get is that they had alllll that time together, why didn't she explain and try to reason with them? Plus, their reason for doing it seems weak. Do they just not care if everyone dies?

Book 2:

So, something that just doesn't make sense to me is, they are willing to condemn millions of people to death just to they don't have to be in pain anymore? That is totally selfish of them.

OK, I'm glad she actually flat out asked them that.

Since the stone was so important,  I'm surprised they didn't at least take a minute to look for it. Sure, it would have been difficult,  but due to its importance, i think it was worth at least a minute to check before running.

Book 3:

So, there were definitely some important things that happened in this book. At the same time, it feels like there wasnt much that did happen. I got bored, and started skimming pages here and there, just to keep going.

My question is this, if theor old pack didnt like them for what they were, and then their alpha started forcing shadows on everyone, why would they still follow him?

We hate these guys, but since you want to do the same to us, that's ok?

Also, if forcing all those shadows into Frost killed him, even though he was born with them, how is it that Quinton was able to take so many?

Book 4:

This one was spread out too much.

When Amora was taken, why didn't they follow right away? That seems to be their thing, just letting them get away. It worked out eventually,  but those things just spread out the book for a dumb reason.

Overall:

I do like multi-book stories like this. They allow feelings and situations to develop, rather than just suddenly appear. I like that. But at the same time, there is inevitably going to be a lull somewhere,  or multiple spread out, where things get a little boring. I think that is what I ran into.

How many times over these 4 books (well the last 3 anyway) are you going to tell us that the bonds snapped when they took the potion, but something stronger is somehow still there? I was only pages into book 4, and already tired of hearing it from just the middle two books alone.

This was a good shifter series (honestly the bar is low for that genre, anyway), and it is one I would recommend.
I rate this 3.5 stars, rounded to 4.

Title: Feral Shifters: Complete Series (Feral Shifters #1-4
Author: Callie Rose
Format: Audio
Narrators: Lia Holland, CJ Grey
Genre: Paranormal Romance, RH, Shifters (Wolf), Suspense
Standalone: Yes but Amora is a side character in another series
Part of a Series: Feral Shifters Books 1-4
POV: Amora, Kian, Frost, Mallax
Steam Level: Steamy
5/5

I'm so glad I read this series in the box set. The first three stories all ending on cliffhangers and I loved that I didn't have to wait to find out what happened next. This series is full of action, excitement, and steam along with drama, betrayal, and intensity. Wolf shifters, witches, prophecies, magic, adventure and love. So much fun

Book 1: Rejected Mate
POV: Amora
5/5

We meet Amora in Callie Rose's Claimed by Wolves series. While you don't need to read that series I highly recommend it since it's a fabulous series. Also, this book answers the questions left open about Amora as to where she went and why. In Rejected Mate we see when Amora first meets one of her mates and how he rejected her. Now Amora is on the hunt for him and her two other mates on a mission to destroy them before they destroy the world. This first book is action-packed with adventure, steam, and betrayal. Callie Rose knows how to write a story that keeps you on the edge of your seat and leaves you guessing and wanting more. Rejected Mate is an amazing start to this series which is proving to be deliciously dark with a side of steam and humor to balance it out.

Book 2: Untamed Mate
POV: Kian, Amora, Frost, Mallix
5/5

Untamed Mate starts right where the first book ends. The mate bond is broken. Or is it? Amora's mission hasn't changed and the search is back on. But things don't go as planned when Amora catches up to the guys. Alliances are formed, bonds are broken and they need to work together to fight a common enemy. The climax of this book is intense and the cliffhanger even worse. Callie Rose kept me guessing throughout and I cannot wait to see what will happen next in this series.

Book 3: Cursed Mate
POV: Amora, Kian, Frost, Mallix
5/5

Cursed Mate starts right where book ends. Holy heck this book was a wild ride New allies are formed and battles are waged and enemies new and old are revealed. I was hooked from the start and cannot wait to see what happens in the series finale..

Title: Claimed Mate
POV: Amora, Mallix, Kian, Frost
5/5

Claimed Mate starts right where the previous book ended. Any oh boy was this book crazy intense. Action-packed with tons of unexpected reveals this book was the perfect ending to this wild series. Amora and the guys cement their relationship, create new allies and encounter old enemies. The climax of this story was unexpected and gripping. I didn't want to stop listening until the end and wanted even more of the HEA. Claimed Mate is a fantastic conclusion to an amazing series.

If you haven't read the other series, then don't read this one!

I had no idea this was a spin-off of another series. I have NO idea what the hell is going on. It starts out with a woman who can shift into a wolf, then out of nowhere, she says there was a war, magic, and witches. Literally, that's what she says in less than a paragraph. WTH? Since when? What is she talking about? You tell me the FMC went to war, lost friends, and her BFF found his mate, but we don't get to see any of it, and you throw it out there like a leaf. ???? I felt like I was missing everything, so I went back and checked. While this is book ONE of THIS series, it apparently is part of another series, so yeah. You can't just assume that all the readers have read your previous work. Therefore, you have to fill them in on things they need to know. Just saying nonchalantly that all that exciting stuff happened and changing the world all in one paragraph is not enough. The world, up until that point, sounded like ours, just with wolf shifters. Then, all of a sudden, you mention magic, witches, the end of the world, and I felt like I got whiplash.

According to other reviewers, the guys are jerks, and I've already seen that Kian rejected her not once but twice, so I'm not interested in finishing.

Disappointing and Unbelievable

I had high hopes for my first read, but unfortunately, this one missed the mark for me. While I appreciated that the series was all bundled together in one book—a rare find—it ultimately fell flat.

The FMC, Amora, chasing down her "mate" after he left her following a one-night stand felt demeaning and counterintuitive. If someone abandons you, why chase after them? It set a frustrating tone for the story. The premise—that she had to stop him and others "before they destroy the world"—could have been thrilling, but it didn’t feel believable. The stakes never felt genuine, and I struggled to suspend my disbelief.

I couldn’t connect with any of the main characters. Amora, supposedly a confident and badass heroine, didn’t live up to that description for me. Kian, Frost, and Malix were equally uninspiring and lacked depth. None of their dynamics drew me in, and the story felt emotionally flat.

Overall, I had mixed feelings but ultimately didn’t enjoy the journey. While the title was intriguing, the execution left much to be desired.

Massive ending spoilers as I just left frustrated.

I didn’t mind the series, but the ending was just cut short and wasn’t a huge fan of suddenly living happily ever after in her OG pack. It’s like all of sudden she completes the bond and then can magically taken on shadows and then gets stuck in the shadow world and in an instant the 3 guys can figure out how to get into the shadow world to get the girl who is not even getting attacked by shadows and is still passed out or whatever and then to top that off she has her own shadows who don’t cause her any pain like it causes the other 3 who are born with shadows. It also doesn’t go into any more detail about the shadows or what it means, like nothing. Does she turn into a shadow wolf? Does she become strong? It describes her as having more shadows than the guys but that’s it? Honestly needed more chapters to just maybe explore the her having shadows as a permanent thing and how that affects the bond or even another book. Idk I was just left with too many unanswered questions.

Feral

The entire series is pretty epic. When shifters, witches and shadows hold the fate of the world in their hands it makes for a real complicated story.

The entire series had me at the edge of my seat because it was literally non-stop from the moment she met her other mates.
I liked everything about these books, 1st Amora finds her mate only for him to leave her. A witch gives a prophecy that sets her on a path to stop destruction, then she meets her other mates only to find out they also had a prophecy given to them by another witch.
There was so much going on. I love it. They fought, hurt and lied to each other, kept each other at arms length for a bit but the bond won slowly and when they came together, they came together savagely. Except for Frost. God that walking encyclopedia had me melting for him.
Totally recommend if you want non-stop action, angst, betrayal, danger and some fierce love and strategic spice to relieve the stress (cough cough)

DNF review-

I completely stopped within the first few pages.
Here are some quotes from just one page (technically page 2 to be precise) that had me just STOP:

"Mind-speak" (When the pack communication is telepathy in wolf form but you don't word it right. Mind-speak sounds wrong. Telepathy communication, pack dialogue, I'll even take wolf coms...there has to be something better than repeating "mind-speak"several times in the first chapter when no other communication was being had.)

"Yeah. I feel you, deer dudes" (female wolf spots deer in woods while hunting with her pack, not clear if this was just inner dialogue or pack Mind-Speak.)

"Tonight, I'm wound as tight as a nun's legs." (Really?! That's what you're going with? It was so left field and is completely out of place for this type of story.)

SMH, I'll try again but that put me off something fierce.

I read these books as they were released, and I'm glad to see them combined in a box set. I've reviewed each one individually already, if you want specifics!

Amora has been told by a witch that she has, not one, but three fated mates - and that they will try to destroy the world. This leads to a rollercoaster of a hunt across several states to find them and try and change fate!

I'm not going to lie, some of what the guys put Amora through, especially in the first half of the books, makes tough reading, but it's worth sticking with it, as the eventual pay off is worth it!

This is the second series in this universe, and I'd love to see more, especially looking at the connections between shifters and witches!

all four books in one made my heart happy so I wasn't searching for the next one in the series.

A lone wolf searching to fullfill a prophesy of saving the end of the world from her 3 mates. 3 brothers born of shadows searching to fullfill a prophesy of saving the end of the world from their mate. Two goals at odds intertwining into a wonderfully chaotic challenge against one another.

The amount of rollercoasters of hate and love was perfect. I loved seeing the beauty and simplicity of Frost, the playful softy of Malik and the iron stubbornness from Kian. Then add Amore, a badass lone wolf that is stubborn to a fault, fight her way to save what started as enemies and became true mates.

FANTASTIC!! LOVED IT!!

Started reading this after Claimed by Wolves as it introduces you to many characters in this one ( it’s so good in itself btw) and this Feral Shifters take things to a whole another level!! Amora starts out needed to find and kill her 3 fated mates and the journey, the knowledge that gets uncovered, the pull between them all , is page turner after page turner. You definitely get your value from this as I got a few days of intense reading from this great story that has tons of omg moments, thrills , and jaw dropping moments….. I’m SOOOO glad I took a chance on this author as I’ve never read her before until these two books , a GREAT decision on my part !!

I don’t know if it was the combination of the audible voices, the ridiculous main character or the fact that there was sexy time every three seconds that made me just not like it. I’m all for spice and sexy time but this was just nuts. They are sad loved ones died so clearly let’s have a quick orgy, they are mad at a passerby so obviously they are going to get it on 2 feet from others. It is just too ridiculous. The inner dialogue of all the characters was so outlandish and bipolar with the thought process that it was laughable.
I have an issue with leaving books unfinished so I pushed through it but I have to say I have never been more happy for a book to be over.

I had a hard time with this rating. I wanted to give a 3 because it was fine. But I’ve rated so many books that are way better than this one as a 3. So a 2 it is. The smut was fine. No MM, which personally I would’ve enjoyed but whatever. Mostly what I didn’t like was that some of the plot was really glossed over. They spent a lot of the time on the sex. It could have been a better book if there was time with the world development and character development. It got to the point at the end I think I even skimmed over the sex; which is unheard of for me. I think it was free on audible plus, or on sale. It’s on kindle unlimited.

This was an entertaining story. She is cocky and sassy, and mated to three Alpha holes. The push and pull of the power dynamic between them is both entertaining and frustrating in equal measures. The spice hits early and then takes a lengthy hiatus before picking back up and eventually dominating the last book in the series. The female narrator was fantastic. The male narrator was OK. Some of the voices he did, I had to turn the volume up super high in order to hear him. During those parts, it was difficult to do other things as it took all of my concentration to be able to hear him. Otherwise, he was good. Overall, I do recommend this series.

Great series

I really enjoyed reading / listening to this series. I love the characters, I felt they were well written and enjoyed how the characters had differing relationships between each other, it was very relatable and I liked that. I felt that the storyline and plot twists were interesting however, rather than four books it's possible that it could have been maybe three longer books but I'm not sure and it did keep me engaged so that wasn't a big deal to me. I also felt that the narrators did a good job. Overall, I did enjoy the series and I am glad that I read / listened to it. I will probably check out other books by this author.

so sexy!

So much passion and emotion in the way the story is written and the portrayal of the characters in this book. Although my one complaint is that the villain of this story seemed to me like he was kind of just written into the story line. Otherwise, the spice is very passionate when it happens, the characters emotions are so well written that you feel it as an empath, and the story line of events is constantly evolving but of course ends where it begins☺️

it was alright

The story was good I feel like the plot holes in it took to long to come to a climax and be filled (that ending was pretty good though wink wink)
By the end of Book one I didn’t think I wanted to continue- I did though because momma didn’t raise no quitter and I am kinda happy I did. I wish we could have had more time with Amora’s original pack though.
Not my favorite writing style but definitely one that ended up being a ok read. (no offense to the author intended whatsoever).

How should I say it?

I mean, I enjoy it, very much, but... Uhm.... Yeah... So, the story, the plot line, the dialogue, the narrative had a lot of potential and it felt to me like the author was a bit scattered, the beginning of the first book was the real deal, then it felt like she lost confidence and influenced her to change something, editorials and editors do that, even readers, but overall I liked it.

Feral Shifters

"I am nothing but shadow. More and more darkness is being forced into me. More than I can take. More than I can survive. I throw my head back and scream over the distant sound of Amora calling my name, my brothers begging me to be strong, the people I love fighting to reach me. It isn’t enough." - Frost

Rather than rate each of the books separately, I'm giving the series an overall 4 stars because we listened to them all straight through as a complete story. Overall, the storyline was good, even though a few of the books were weaker than others. One of the best parts of the book is that we get to see the personalities of each of the male love interests outside of the sexual relationships. That's often missing in a why choose novel.

Was this good? No. I truly cannot tell you what possessed me to listen to all 29 hours of this. But I did and here we are.

Also apparently this is a spinoff. There is a time jump followed by one paragraph that's like "our whole world went to war and there was magic and witches" that likely would have been less jarring had I known I was supposed to read like four other books first.

Wildly disappointing that this woman has three boyfriends and none of the boyfriends are boyfriends.

I enjoyed the story, but sometimes the characters or dialog bugged me - it could've just been the mood I was in at the time. I can't knock the book as I was intrigued and had to finish it.
I thought the writing was good. I love the title, and it was a solid 4 for me because there is a good chance I'll read it again.

An entertaining series

Feral Shifters Complete Series by Callie Rose: 4 stars
So many twists! Danger, war, death, grit, love/hate and mates… Non stop action, with an engaging storyline. Likable characters and good chemistry, but a bit too much graphic steam distracts from the story.

Entertaining

I enjoyed this book! I’m not the biggest fan of romantisy but I really enjoyed this book. I read them as a complete series so at points it did feel a little drawn out but over all really enjoyed it. Wasn’t the biggest fan of how the spice was written. The way they spoke to one another just seemed off to me. Over all I recommend.
