Brief Summary
Whilst this is part of the Masters of the Zodiac series, I do feel it relies on the reader having knowledge of the Bad Boys of Bevington series - Teddy's Boys. One of the things I love about this author is how deeply she delves into the relationship between the main protagonists and she certainly convinced me of the depth of Rachel's feelings for Evan, or at least her longing for him whilst he was keeping her at arm's length.
Although we learnt of their liaison in BBoB, we didn't experience it first-hand, so when the characters reconnected in this story I did struggle to fully connect with their feelings for one another. That said I feel the author's hands were tied by needing this to fit the multi-author world of MotZ, I suspect she would normally have either made the book much longer or a duet, neither of which were available options. Whilst I loved both characters, and them as a couple, I didn't feel secure in their connection, and I think in part it was because I hadn't seen it form and grow. I still very much enjoyed the book though, and the chemistry of this couple is off the charts.

Themes and Trigger Warnings
There are so many themes in this one, friendship, forgiveness, redemption, and good versus evil to name but a few.
TW - There is the death of a loved character from BBoB and our protagonists have a Daddy/little relationship, though not in a specific age-play way (not that I consider it a trigger warning topic but others do). This felt more like a D/s relationship where Evan is a caregiver and looks after the welfare of Rachel, but she does refer to him as Daddy.

Star Rating
4.25 stars. I loved how this one balanced the relationship between Evan and Rachel with the mystery/action/peril side of things. It readily held my attention throughout.

The Characters
Evan was quite a mystery in the first three BBoB books, older, wiser and in a position of authority, so it was good to finally meet him in person, where he turned out to be just as self-contained, dominant and focused. I really liked this man who only wanted the best for those he cared about, and when he cares he cares deeply. Evan will also admit when he made a mistake and feels remorse on those occasions.
Rachel is much more of an open book, very firmly wearing her heart on her sleeve. Despite being somewhat emotionally vulnerable, and definitely a people pleaser, she's also pretty kick-ass too. I love how Teddy's men worked, in whatever the throuple equivalent of tandem is, to platonically support her needs whilst Evan was in prison.

The Plot
Complex, layered and with a good air of mystery the plot moves at a steady pace and easily kept me entertained. There are some good twists and turns that I didn't see coming but which also felt very believable within the storyline.

The Writing and The World-Building
I adore this author's voice, she has a good understanding of fantasy which results in some excellent world-building and a feeling of really knowing/understanding the magical systems in use. Again, some of this world-building has taken place in previous books but is sufficiently covered here to allow a new reader to follow events. She also manages to make me feel as though I know the main characters in her books and might bump into them in everyday life. There is also a good chance she channelled her own experience of pond-hopping when she described Evan's reactions to moving to the UK.
The ending to the story was incredibly satisfying and best of all was that it laid a little hook out for a future book and all I can say is "count me in!"

E.J. Frost wields her magic,yet again,with Capricorn!
Going back to the world of Bevington,Evan and Rachel’s story comes after Quaternion,so if you haven’t read that, and still plan to,it might make you enjoy this one more if you wait…..
Luckily,i have, and E.J. was so very generous to give me the ARC of Capricorn,so i dove straight in.
Because i needed to see if Teddy, her boys and everyone else could get Evan out of prison, badly!
He was convincted of a crime he didn’t commit, and spent the last 7 ! years in prison.
And if that wasn’t bad enough,he’d decided to tell his Little girl,Rachel,to stop visiting,to stop writing, and to move on with her life.
Sometimes Daddies make mistakes, and this was a big one.
And when he was finally released, she was going to make him see why, that’s for sure!
The reason why he was released was a big one,one that counted, and he had a very important task ahead of him.
If he was going to survive it,it might even mean he was a free man, permanently.
And Rachel was going to make sure he’d survive, even if he didn’t want her anywhere near the evil he’d be facing…..

In true E.J. style,Rachel was a strong girl,a girl i loved from the moment i met her.
She fought for what she believed in,in any way she needed to.
For her Daddy, for her friends, she never gave up.
Evan may have thought he was doing the right thing by releasing Rachel, the silly man,but once he saw the light,he did his best to make it better.
He’s a good man,a strong one,with a big heart,and i adore him.
Seeing Teddy and her boys again was a treat, and where they were now,was só much fun to see!
I see a lot of headaches in their future though…..

And a future we’re going to see,because there’s another story coming in the world of Bevington,called Ulune’s Daughter,and i can’t wait!!!

This is a seriously terrific Paranormal romance with a Daddy and his little girl. The Daddy was locked up for seven years for a crime he didn’t commit and now he has an Important job as Capricorn Primus. There is lots of Danger and Mystery with Major Forces in play and Order vs Chaos. You should note that the number 9 is significant.

There is a very nice Epilogue with a teaser for Ulune’s Daughter which is E. J. Frost’s next book. I am really looking forward to it.

First of all I have to say I love the way EJ paints such vivid descriptions of the settings and characters in her books, and Capricorn was amazing. I was fully immersed in the colorful personalities and creatures living out this tale. I was so glad to revisit many friends from Teddy's Boys...Uncle Jou, Teddy and her husbands and kids, and many more. Last, but not least, we have Evan Lord...so stubborn, yet trying to temper his love for Rachel, I wanted to throttle him, but as I read more, I could understand where he was coming from. Seven years is a long time and there is danger coming their way. I don't want to give anything away so I may appear to be vague about the story. There were hilarious parts ("me Lucky Charms") sizzling moments, deep sadness, terror, but also such a feeling of family and belonging that I know you will love this book as much as I did. I received an ARC of this book and my comments and opinions are solely my own.

Will definitely read the next

I didn't love this quite as much as the stories with Teddy at the centre, but the MCs are growing on me and of course the others do pop up in this story.
I was a bit confused about what the various zodiac signs have to do with anything tbh, although that could be because I was trying to read it in among family holiday chaos, so I'll give it another read when the next book is released and hopefully it'll make a bit more sense.

Based in the same world as the author's Bad Boys of Bevington series with Teddy and her husbands with quite a few character cross overs, this story focuses on Evan Lords and opens on him being released from a 7 year prison sentence for a crime he didn't commit. His release doesn't come without strings, though, as he is immediately tasked with not only joining the Capricorn Guild, but to take on the mantle of the Guild's Primus. And oh, by the way, Capricorn members have been mysteriously dying and it's his responsibility to figure out why As with all of this author's books, there is no dearth of plot and action....nor is there a lack of an emotional punch.

Along with his new responsibilities and new danger, Evan Lords (I can't think of him without full naming him), is having to face Rachel, former Bevvy student, bad@$$ warrior, loving Little and the woman he pushed away for her own good. Like the independent woman she is, Rachel gave Evan Lords a big old raspberry and refused to leave his metaphorical side during his imprisonment and she is the first person to see him when he is freed. I love her so dang much. Watching (Daddy) Evan Lords finally allow himself the comfort, happiness and love of his Little was everything I could have asked for. He and Rachel are perfect for each other, and my greedy heart wanted more scenes with the two of them together immersed in their dynamic.

This story obviously takes place after the end of Teddy's trilogy and it was really wonderful to catch up with her, her husbands and children a little further into their lives together. In addition to some familiar faces, there was a nice balance of new characters; each with their distinct voice and agenda. Trying to figure out the big picture of the plot as well as determine who was trustworthy and who was not made the story move at a nice pace...and the ending legitimately made me heart swell and then break.

This book is part of a larger series based on the astrological signs, but I read it as a standalone very easily.

Capricorn
EJ Frost

The book opens to Evan being released from his long sentence. Without the use of his magic for so long or anything beyond his captive enclosure, we are in the head of a character who's like newborn, rediscovering his surroundings all over again. Not only is he free, he has a new throne -Capricorn Primus- to occupy. The man went from a convict over night to be summoned by his guild to give them the last bit of hope to survive.

We see characters from the Boys of Bevington series. It's a MMMF why choose romance, three books long. It was easier for me immerse I to this book with their story fresh on my mind. But it's not entirely necessary to do so. Just a plus, if you are like me and want all the deets.

There's never a dull moment within the book. Chapters are descriptive, and EJ is ever the talented word smith who puts the reader through a trance. The pages flew by like the book was animated in my head. The sass, back and forth exchange and all those information that shaped the world - I soaked it all up.

While Evans tries to fit into his newfound role, he's placed with the dilemma of throwing off his Little, Rachel. He wants her safe and a part of him, still very much wants to be her daddy. Rachel is not one to give up. The sword yielding, pink haired snarky packed little knows she will have to win her daddy over again. Even it means walking a thousand miles in her combat boots.

A fast paced story, with something happening in every single page and it's going to keep you amused. Lovelier even when paired with hot chocolate and momos. Warning: EJ's book tend to make you hungry too.

Well, this was a fun romp. Much more of a Greek gods type of trope, with the Zodiac thrown in. I want more of this story. Evan and Rachel's story takes, almost, a back seat to the rest of the story, though I'm not mad about that. I was very entertained.

I just love the way this author writes. It's the relationships she builds...not only between couples, but friends, colleagues, family members. They're all just amazing. I'm glad I got a peek into the love of Lords and Rachel. I'm hoping I see more of this world. I'm loving the new characters we've been introduced to. Where can I grovel?

The couple: Evan and Rachel

Romance trope: paranormal; DDlg
Series: Masters of the Zodiac/Bad Boys of Bevington
Length: 306 pages

Plot: Evan has been in prison for years, falsely accused of murder. But he's been set free, with help from friends. The one person he wants to see most though, his Little Girl Rachel, is the person that he should stay away from - he doesn't think he's any good for her anymore. But Rachel is stronger than she was when he went in and he'll find that in his new position as the head of the Capricorn Guild, she will be his biggest asset and supporter, if he'll only let her in.

Commentary: I loved this story - even though I came into the series in the middle without having read any of the other books (either from the Masters of the Zodiac or the Bevington series). I was able to pick up most of what I needed to understand the plot. The only thing I wanted was a little more of the DDlg relationship between Evan and Rachel, maybe a little more of them reconnecting after his time in prison. I mean, he was at work within an hour of getting out of prison! I realize things were dire, but I wanted to see him settle in and reconnect with Rachel just a little more. However, reading this does make me want to read the Bevington series, so I'll be getting on with that.

Previous book in the series: Sagittarius
Next book in the series: Aquarius

Increasingly paranormal

So far each installment of the masters of the zodiac series has become increasingly paranormal with rules of their specific worlds not entirely clear as some have been taken from other worlds and adapted to this one. It's interesting but can be a bit hard to follow if you're unfamiliar with the context world some of the characters originally came from. This author outlines an appendix which is helpful. The story itself is intriguing even if I did get a little lost. I'm sure the inside jokes are a delight to fans of the previous books. I enjoyed this read and it's made me mildly curious to read the books which came before. I already know the conclusions are spoiled but the world is so fantastical I am curious for more of it.

Ms. Frost once again wraps us in her enchanting world bringing us the story of Evan and Rachel and how they were and thief wonderful friends save the world again. I'm so glad that it appears that Ms. Frost intends to do another book in this world. I'm not quite ready to give them up and neither should you.

I'm enjoying this new series. Each book of the Zodiac is written by a different author and, so far, they've all been wonderful. This book is no exception. I haven't read much by this author, but I'm going to start.

Magical

Evan Lords is released from prison to learn he is the leader of a Zodiac group.
A stand alone story, this is a sequel of sorts to Teddy's Boys, as well as being one of twelve stories by different authors based around the Zodiac.
Mages, fae, witches and demi-gods come together to create a wonderful story.

Firstly I really enjoy, this Author's Story telling style -providing a fast paced story, enjoyable, resolute and cut to the chase read!

It’s part of a shared world series called Masters of the Zodiac - Im always impressed when different authors complete a book in a series with an overarching theme -it works.

Capricorn, Evan Lord's a true hero very dominant. Imagine a strong adherence to right over wrong. Evan has an attractive strong sense of self that even imprisonment has not affected- that needs to be believable, which E.J Frost wrote well.

Rachel will burn down the world for the man she loves.

Spicy and power exchange banter and action 👋🥵between Evan & Rachel.

✔️Action-packed
✔️Hero to anti-Hero
✔️age-gap
✔️daddy more D/s-dark&hard and slow&sweet
✔️paranormal

Loved this book. Read this first in the series and immediately added the rest of the series and other related stories to my TBR.

Book stepped right into the story and kept up a great pace. The characters are relatable and wonderful and want to read so much more about Evan, Rachel and Teddy.

Mystery with a slow burn as you follow Evan along as he takes up the mantel in Capricorn and investigates the murders of his fellow capricornians. With fascinating morally grey villians and amazing world building while touching on established mythology and lore, this is a definite must read for anyone who is fans of the zodiac or ancient gods.

First I will say that this book is a must read if you are a fan of Teddy's boys, the bevington boys series. As this book includes many of the characters from that world. I loved Rachel. She was funny and a little bratty, kept Evan on his toes and wouldn't give up on her Daddy. Evan only wanted what was best for his baby girl. Pushing her away seemed like the right thing to do at the time, but as the new Capricorn primus he starts to see he needs her at his side. Brilliant read, I can't wait for more.

Great read!

This was a complex and compelling read. I loved the characters and the storyline though I did feel like I had missed a book in the series as I felt like a lot of information was thrown in that I had no understanding ok. This however didn't stop it being a great read.

'Capricorn' by E. J. Frost is the fourth book in the "Masters of the Zodiac" series. Now, I have to admit, this author is new to me and I haven't read her "Bad Boys of Bevington" series, so all these characters are new to me. That being said, familiar or not, this story was riveting with all the gods, demi-gods, fae, and a host of other beings. Not only that but we get a first-hand look at the politics involved between them. Our Hero, Evan Lords has been in prison for seven years for a murder he did not commit. On the day he finds out he's free he not only is required to join the Capricorn Guild, which he's had nothing to do with up to this point but is told the deity announced his name as the Guild's Primus. That's a lot to take in for someone who has been sequestered but then he's tasked with not only finding out who but stopping whoever they may be from continuing to kill them. And then we have our heroine, Rachael. She not only was Evan's little in their D/s relationship before he went to prison but now she's a warrior in her own right. Unfortunately, Evan has been trying to do what he thought was best by pushing her away when he had no idea when he would be free. This author definitely kept me pulled into the storyline and relating with the characters who continued to grow throughout the tale. The world-building was phenomenal and now I want to read the series this story came from because I want to know more about them. It's a wonderful read with a powerful punch, including a good vs evil battle.

As soon as I finished Quaternion I dove straight into Capricorn. I had to know what happened to Evan Lords. While he was only a side character in EJ’s Bad Boys of Bevington series, he was definitely a pivotal part of the plot and was such an amazing character that I had to know how his story played out.

Evan was sent to a magical prison having been convicted of murder but finds himself released only to be thrown into an investigation that he was chosen to lead. His life was completely upended because of his conviction and then upended again when he was let go.

Evan is a fatherly figure and super protective of everyone, especially those he loves which is why he pushes Rachel away, he feels she can do better. Evan is protective, possessive, and very alpha. Rachel is feisty, strong willed and stubborn; she is Teddy’s best friend so that explains a lot. Evan and Rachel were in a secret relationship in the Bad Boys of Bevington series so it doesn’t take long for the fire to get rekindled.

Teddy and her boys also make an appearance in this book which of course leads to quite a few funny moments. There’s humor, spice, mystery, and suspense all tied up into a fantastic plot. I haven’t read any of the other Masters of the Zodiac books but I’m definitely intrigued after reading this one.

if you're going to write an astrology oriented book please do two seconds of research

DNF, couldn't hang, too much astro illiteracy. Call me an elitist but given that this series is (i presume) targeting astro-interested readers, some basic research on the sign you're supposedly writing about would have been cool. i understand wanting to be a part of a series with a popular theme to boost your work and get more new readers, but this author lost me with Capricorn being a water mage. The sea goat is cardinal earth baby!

warning: daddy and little

The writing is solid - but the daddy and little kink is not for me and there was no warning for it. I got to the part where he was watching. The parents have two kids on their lap and he got nostalgic for her on his lap and doing that and that was just icky. I know we’re not supposed to review on shaming somebody’s kink but this I can’t do it.

This was ok but I am going to end this tale here for now. I expected a lot more from this still no idea who killed the dean the vagueness over the charges well over the whole plot and all this happened over few days. this is not my kind of reading for enjoyment.
