This was a good book. I enjoyed many different parts of the book. The romance was very sweet and I was very happy how things worked out. The book kinda gave me a standard ailen book, but I am interested in reading more from this series and from this author.

2.5 stars. The action is somewhat interesting and the world building has some great ideas. I like the idea of shared magic and I want her to use her wings in her acrobatics.

It feels very sex-forward rather than relationship-forward. Which is weird because we’re just getting to their sexy times 3/4 into the book. With this one, I just wanted more depth. Can’t completely explain it but there’s too much “I gotta have you” in this and not enough real buildup and getting to know each other.

Almost stopped at 69% but sped through just in case my instinct to DNF was wrong. This reminds me that I should just trust myself and not force me to continue reading. I’m pretty sure the author is trying to be good/woke in her writing. “Matched pair” doesn’t have to mean romantic in this world and the hero tries to be informative and open and put consent forward. At least there’s a lot of lip service to that idea! But consent is also built around shared information and the fact that he is not willing to share information with the heroine before they have sexy times even though his friend tells him to share, he started to share previously, and he knows his lack of sharing is going to cause an issue… Well, you know that there’s gonna be drama based around that! And that just feels lazy with the author. I hate drama built around miscommunication!

I’m not a fan of couples not sharing with each other pertinent facts before they get intimate. Makes me feel like the author is leading up to a big misunderstanding that just doesn’t have to be there! We keep on getting forewarning that there’s going to be a “big misunderstanding” and that just exhausts me when those are caused by non-communication.

Frankly, the hero is emotionally immature and doesn’t grow throughout the book. The relationship seems based on the first attraction on his part and the heroine’s willingness to get over her distrust of him because they’re under attack. And she thinks he’s cute. It just it’s so shallow when I have characters that can’t remember some thing important because they just have to have sexy times with their significant other. And they hardly know each other! Nor have they talked about what this all means until the very very end! And then all of a sudden she’s moving into his home? I know we’re trying to have a little bit of a cliff hanger so that you want to read the next book in the series, but I really don’t care at this point.

A hundred aliens stared up at the platform where Emily Saint stood on the ledge, all waiting for her to fall to her death. Then she was flying through the air, reaching for the bar, flipping and landing on the opposite ledge. Her childhood gymnastics training served her well as she was forced to perform night after night. And even if she failed and fell to the ground on occasion, they cheered even louder. And if she tried to do something easier, like a cartwheel, while her sprained ankle gave her pain, they would grumble because they knew it was easy for her. Because they still wanted more, she continued her performance and ignored the pain. When her performance ended, they cheered wildly. Their captive animal had done well. Emily and the other Earth captives must entertain or die. And the rest of the time, they become medical lab rats.

Malsan Ozar (“Oz”) was a Synnr on a mission and had to remember not to stare at the captivating woman. The Apsyns saw anyone who wasn’t Zulir as an animal, incapable of thought or feeling, and certainly not worthy of attraction. There was no obvious difference between Apsyn and Synnr. Their differences were political and philosophical, not physical. The Zulir were a people divided. And war was coming.

This is a new series that will definitely keep the reader’s interest. Emily is not only a capable gymnast but a smart lawyer, skills which will serve her well in her present and future situation as she and the other humans get caught up in a political war. Because she turned out to be Oz’s mate, his distraction with her jeopardizes the mission. Grab your copy and see if everything works out despite all the twists and turns!

3.25⭐️ Interesting premise, decent execution, not a fan of insta-love at all but if you are this is a good choice. The world building was alright, at least its somewhat understandable but I wish there were a ranking or something for power in this world system. I liked that there were queer, nonromantic, and poly-romantic bonds of power. I just thought it sucked that the skills set forth in the book by the FMC at the beginning (gymnastics) was not put more into use in this book. And that it didn’t get better when she earned her powers. Overall this book was pretty good. I had an okay time.

I was sucked into the world from the very beginning. It's intriguing and exciting but also dangerous, suspenseful, and mysterious. The chemistry between Kil and Emily is amazing and the world-building had me picturing this in my head like a movie.

This is a new series by this author, and I just had to read it. Emily is abducted from earth by aliens and they abused her but she shows fortitude and strength by never giving in to the horrible experiments that were performed on her. Oz is a Synnr and part of the Zulir Warriors who are rescuing beings that are being mistreated by the Apsyns. Emily and Oz work together and save each other creating a bond which is unbreakable. Will Emily want to return to earth? Will Oz finally find his Match?

Just another alien kidnaps human, but with less smut than the others. I do like the idea of the humans now trying to integrate into this world, so I will be continuing in the series.

Emily and her fellow Earth abductees have learned to entertain or die. When they are not being carted off to be esperimented on, She and her fellow Earthlings are expected to perform like trained animals for their captors. Her gymnastic ability has never been a handier talent to have.

Oz may look like her abductors but he is nothing like them on the inside. His planet is split by morals and outlook rather than what they look like. The Apsyns are deplorable xenophobes. Oz and his team are much happier to have a wider pool of people to attempt to find a mate with.

But Oz missteps in his plans to rescue the Earthlings from their captivity when he tries to "buy" his human flier! Now he's going to have to work even harder to get her to trust him!

Emily and the others; Lena, Luci, Zac & Joel soon find themselves rescued but are they really any better off?

I loved that Emily was able to use her education as a lawyer on Earth in her new found freedom. Her gymnastics may have saved her butt but it's her mental talents that are just as much use in her new normal! Oz makes a bit of a hash of rescuing his potential mate and I love how he has to essentially grovel to get her back. They abilities they share later are amazing! The little twist of the Earthlings capture was one I did not see coming.

There is a lot to like about this new series Zulir Warriors by Kate Rudolph. Oz is an undercover Zulir infiltrating the enemy Apsyn's world. The problem is the Zulirs and the Aspyns were once one race, but are now at odds. Emily was kidnaped from Earth by the Apsyns, crudely experimented on, and made to entertain them if she wanted some peace. Here's where I got confused. The author kept going back over and over again about the conflict between the 2 groups, went over and over what a Match was, and over and over his and her conflicted feelings. That got to be a bit too much for me. I found myself skimming through a lot of the repetitive stuff. But overall, I liked the book, I enjoyed the interaction and chemistry between Oz and Emily and I thought the set up for the next book was great.

There's a very pre-US Civil War/Civil War era theme at the start of this new series: humans have been taken from earth and brought to a new planet, something that has clearly been ongoing for sometime. The faction that lives on this new planet sees humans as pets to perform for their entertainment, and a tool to be used to gain more physical power, at the expense of the human of course. The faction residing on the moon is against the abuse of the humans and advocates that they be treated as any citizen, and not be treated as a lesser being. But even among those on the moon who want to liberate the humans, there are many who still don't see them as completely equal. They aren't in favor of enslaving humans, but they don't want to interact with them. They are against the cruel abuse of humans, but still think it's okay to do things to the humans without their consent. In short, many of them are against abuse of humans, but they really don't see them as equal.
Oz certainly becomes one who sees humans as equals in all ways, especially after meeting Emily. Emily has befriended a small group of humans who are prisoners for experiments and entertainment who become caught up in an intelligence gathering mission by Oz and one of his crewmates.

Emily, Oz, and their respective "crews" are thrown into this sudden escape/rescue mission with little planning, and, on Oz and Solan's case, without the consent of their captain. Emily is assaulted with a barrage of new information about the socio-political climate of the Zulir, pulled in one direct and another while trying to escape the hostile planet, learning new information about her fellow captives and their situations, and becoming the match to the alien who helped rescue her.

Review of Synnr’s Saint
By Kate Rudolph

A Good Story With Some Steam

Emily Saint had trained as a gymnast when she was younger, which helped her now as she performed for a hundred aliens, doing flips and twists off a trapeze bar and more stunts on the ground. It didn’t matter if she failed a landing or injured herself or not, in fact, the aliens cheered even louder at her failures. But she noticed one particular alien looking at her with interest, unlike the rest of the aliens.

Malsan Ozar, or Oz, found himself strangely drawn to Emily. He was a Synnr rather than an Apsyn, but both were Zulirs; the Synnrs lived on the moon, while the Apsyns inhabited the planet. Their differences were political and philosophical, not physical. The Apsyns were performing tests on the captive humans, which the Synnrs found reprehensible. Oz managed to sneak backstage and introduced himself to Emily just before the woman who handled her scheduling appeared. After all, she had another performance. But Oz was determined to save Emily.

This sets the stage, but you’ll have to read the book to find out whether or not Oz can save Emily. And if he does, what sort of problems does he encounter? Is Emily something special or not? This book is filled with narrow escapes and lots of action. The world building is well done and the character development is also done extremely well. While reading the book, I found the start to be a little slow, but looking back at it, I don’t really know why. There is some steamy sex, but there is really a story here. So, if you like alien and human romances, this is the book for you!

My Rating: 4 1/2 Stars

The writing and editing of this novel was super clean, with few if any typos that I caught in the ARC version of this manuscript. The world building was vibrant, with me getting a vivid picture of this alien culture, technology, and environment. The characterization was great, with both hero and heroine being vibrant, sympathetic individuals. The development of the romantic relationship happened organically, especially considering that this novel used a variation on the Fated Mates trope. The plot and pacing was exciting, with me rapidly turning pages to find out what was going to happen next! There was low angst and very high stakes in this novel, which is one of my preferred narrative structures for a romance novel. This novel used the Alien Abduction trope and the Fated Mates trope. It also used the Partner in Trouble trope and the Road Trip trope. The plot, pacing, and world building in this novel were all four stars. The characterization and development of the romantic relationship also rated four stars. The combined score of this novel was therefore four stars. This novel had a Happy For Now ending instead of a cliffhanger, so that is a big plus for this novel. I recommend this sci-fi romance to readers who enjoy sci-fi romances that read like adventure novels. I am looking forward to reading the next novel in this series when it comes out.

Emily is human and the apsyn aliens have captured her, among others. She's been in captivity for what she believes has been six months. She an aerial performer, entertaining the apsyn in order to survive and avoid more intense testing. One night, while on a mission, Oz sees Emily perform and is entranced, drawn to her for reasons he can't explain. Oz is a synner, another faction of Zulir, like the apsyn, that formed after their different beliefs grew and caused tension between the Zulir. After some complications with the mission, and a botched attempt on Ozs' part to "buy" Emily, which she overhears and is angry about, Emily and the other humans put their escape plan into action. Oz and his team help and end up taking the humans in. However, Emily and Oz become separated from the rest of the group while trying to avoid being caught in their mission, by the apsyn. During this time Oz and Emily grow close and discover they're a bonded pair, or a match. This was an interesting story and cool world building. The Zulir have electric wings, too, which is pretty awesome. I'd recommend giving it a read.

Zulir Match

Emily Saint was abducted from Earth n now performs aerial feats in front of aliens for her abductors, the Apsyns. They also perform painful tests on her n the other humans in their possession. She n the others have been performing on stage for over 6 months, but everything is not what it seems. There're secrets withheld from them. Afterall, humans r an inferior race incapable of intelligent thought, cruel to each other, destructive to their planet n no better than animals. They deserve whatever fate has to offer them.
Malsan Ozar, a Synnr, is working undercover , his mission is to retrieve the asset, gain the information she has, n return home. That priority changes when he sees the most stunning woman who stirs his emotions n calls out to him. His basic instinct is to protect her from her captives. Why? He's not really sure. No way can a human be his Zulir Match. Matchings r rare n extremely powerful, a matched pair can generate enough electricity to kill a entire platoon.
This story was interesting as you learn about the difference between the Apsyns n the Synnr philosophy. War is on the rise n the humans r part of the key. This is a great story to begin the series.

I was enthralled right from the start and It just got better and better, I loved all the characters but Emily and Oz made it much more believable. Emily and the other humans Lena, Luci, Zac, Joel where all kidnapped by Apsyn aliens and taken to the planet Kilrum where they where tested on by day and had to entertain the aliens at night and if you didn’t perform the testing was day and night. Emily was a lawyer on earth as well as a gymnast and she used her gymnastics to entertain them and stay alive. Until one night she meet a man that seemed to be interested in her and she found that she liked his attention but was not sure why but he made her feel safe. Oz and Sloan was there to complete there mission and get there asset out and Oz falling for one of the humans was not supposed to happen but it did and his plans have changed because she was is match mate and he must protect her at all cost. This story is amazing and with so much drama, suspense, adventure, fear, anger, labs, Scientists, cruelty, hatred and revenge all rolled into one how will it ever work out between Emily and Oz. Get this book to find out what happens next.

When your feet are put to the fire...

A lot of people think they know what they believe, what they would do, or what they are capable of, but not until their feet are put to the fire do they truly discover what they are made of, or how deeply their convictions run.

Oz is a soldier who knows what he is fighting for, but on this mission he faces the challenge of not just doing the mission, but standing by the beliefs of his people, defending them, and taking risks for them.

Emily’s journey of discovery in this story is equally interesting. She thought she knew her strengths and talents, but that was back on Earth. This is an Alien world, and the ultimate experience of rediscovering herself, what matters to her, why she does things, and what she is willing to do.

This done in one quick read reaches a solid conclusion, no cliffhanger here... but it does hint that there is more to come, and the second tier characters were interesting, and involved enough that there are several I would enjoy reading in future stories.

Emily was a lawyer/gymnast that was taken from earth. She thinks it was only 6 months ago since her abduction and she is trying to figure out how to get back to earth. She runs into Oz after one of her forced performances for the aliens and a case of misunderstanding leads to some erroneous assumptions on Emily’s part.

Oz is working undercover to try and stop abductions like Emily’s from occurring. He’s not looking for a mate, despite finding himself being attracted to Emily.

Once the misunderstandings are taken care of Emily and Oz are now having to deal with the other effects of their bonding taking place.

Oz does the typical thing where he kept a secret from Emily past the point where it made sense which gave us some avoidable angst. Thankfully Emily didn’t go too far into the drama queen area and was able to roll with it and move the story along.

While there are some areas that could have been tweaked a bit, Emily and Oz make a good team. For me this was a high 3.5 stars I rounded it up because there was a bit more happening and it wasn’t all horizontal times.

Fun, swoony, and exciting alien romance

I really enjoyed Oz and Emily’s alien-human, fish out of water, forced proximity, fated mates romance with a side of danger. Emily was abducted from Earth six months ago and now is a prisoner on an alien planet. Along with a handful of other humans, Emily undergoes medical experiments during the day and has to perform as a gymnast/trapeze artist at night. Oz is an undercover alien when he first sees Emily performing. He is immediately drawn to her though he is not sure why. Emily is also drawn to him. To get to their HEA, they will have to escape from the bad guys, deal with prejudices, rescue more humans, and figure out a new normal together. This alien romance includes all the goodness that you’d expect from this genre - sweet moments, steamy scenes, fighting, dangerous situations, alien physiology and cultures, evil actors, henchmen, loyal friends and family, painful back stories, mystical coincidences, mystery, revelations, and laughs. The story was well written and included witty dialogue, three dimensional characters, and an engaging storyline.

An enjoyable read and an exciting introduction to a new series!
by sewsummore

Emily had been abducted from Earth and had become a slave for Apsyn aliens. She had once been trained as a lawyer but now was forced to participate in painful experiments. Emily and several other humans saw a chance to escape and would have been quickly re-captured if not for the help of several undercover spies. Oz was working undercover when he first saw Emily, he felt compelled to try and save her by offering to purchase her from her masters. His offer was refused but, when he saw a group of humans escaping he gave them aid and was able to send several of the humans who had been hurt back to his base for care. Unfortunately, there was not enough room for them all to leave together and Oz and Emily were forced to remain behind. Ther were almost caught twice and had bonded over their time together. This was an exciting read and an introduction to a new series. Ox and Emily became matched, where their electricity in their bodies became useful for protection and could also be used as a weapon.

So I'm just gonna put this out there… the narrator was terrible for this book. Since the book is dual POV, AND a slow starter, the narrator's tone of voice was very monotone and boring. He didn't change his voice for the characters, not even the females. It was so flat that I found it hard to pay attention to the very beginning of the book. I had to start over a couple of times and I HATE doing that because it's a waste of time. As for the book itself; it's ok .. nothing fantastic. I honestly liked the different description of alien and and their powers worked especially when matched. Once the story got started it was a little more interesting, only because there were some answers that the author that tripping over herself to keep to a secret until the end but they were really easy to figure out. I DID enjoy that matching with the aliens allowed the humans to gain powers as well and made them stronger. That was a cool concept. I wasn't to continue this series so hopefully either the narrator will change or the story will flow better.

Wings? Yes, Please!
Abducted and used for entertainment like a beast in a circus, but mainly as a research instrument to advance their own electrical powers, a group of humans is kept prisoner by the Apsyn part of the Zulir world. Unbeknown to them another group of Zulir warriors, the Synnr, are planning to free them. Emily is one of the humans and Oz is Synnr. There is instant attraction, which flares to life when they are left behind, while the first part of the rescued humans are brought to the Synnr ship.
The book gives a lot of action scenes, fast flowing, keeping you enthralled. At the same time Emily and Oz find themselves in a bonded Match with all the unknown consequences. Their interaction is very realistic, even when everything happens in just a few days. Their love for each other blossoms and is wonderfully sweet to read. Great world-building. Enjoyed the book very much and read it in one go.

A fantastic new alien series by Kate Rudolph! If you liked her Detyen warriors, you'll love her Zulir! This is a wholly different setting with completely different characters and alien races, so be ready for a new adventure.

Oz is a pretty average soldier living a pretty normal life besides the whole inter-species divide that has them at war thing, and I think that might be what had me adoring his story the most. It's a nod to the notion that everyone has a destiny and sometimes it might be something completely different than what you could have dreamed.

Emily, in contrast, was a pretty stellar example of a human. I really liked her stubborn side and the fact that she never lost herself despite all that happened. She and Oz made a great opposites pairing in my opinion.

Anyhow, if you like aliens (with wings, lets not forget the electric wings), feisty heroines far from home, action and adventure, some really awesome romance, a little bit of steam, and an all around entertaining new universe, this is a book you should pick up. I look forward to Solan's book next!

Loved this book, well written and the plot was easy to follow, the author has a great imagination and I can’t wait for the next book in the series.
Emily has been abducted from her home on earth. She has to perform gymnastics for aliens who pay to see all sorts of aliens performing tricks and talents. One day oz turns up, he takes one look at Emily and knows he has to save her, despite his commanding officer telling him no, in trying to save her oz tries to buy her and Emily is gutted and disgusted with him. When one of the other captives tells Emily and a few others that they are escaping, when the time comes and they escape they are taken to a safe house, the last person Emily thought she would see is the alien who tried to buy her. They are eventually found and oz and Emily have to try and hide. They each help each other out and are eventually free. They have a happily ever after guaranteed

A great story that grabbed me from the beginning to the end. Oz is undercover on Kilrym to find out if the rumors of experiments to increase the Apsysans powers one gets from mating is true. He attends a circus of humans who perform that has a hidden asset that can give him proof, when he sees Emily Saint doing her gymnastics act. He goes back stage and runs into Emily and is drawn to her so the next day he tries to buy her and that night a group of performers escape and they are lead by Grace (the Asset) to Oz and Solan. Only the group could not all escape to their ship so Emily volunteers to stay with Oz. When the Patrol finds them and they escape the city, will Oz tell the truth that they were not suppose to help them escape and that there is no way to return them back home to Earth which she desires? This story has chemistry, action and drama in a engaging storyline which was well written. I volunteer to read and review this ARC via Booksprout.

This is book 1 in Rudolph's series Zulir Warrior Mates. Well written and narrated this read / listen provides a great descriptive of a new world we as the reader are introduced to, as well as characters and the background needed for future reads in this series, I suspect. This read focus' on Emily and Oz. Emily was abducted from Earth and not only used as a lab rat but also for entertainment purposes. Oz is undercover to meet with an informant who is also being held which is were her meets and is immediately enraptured with Emily. Obviously the humans all need rescuing but of course that's easier said than done. This read is romantic, fun, adventurous and will leave you wanting more from these other worldly guys as well as what will happen to Emily and Oz as they fight those who kept the humans captors...

This book was given to me for free at my request and I provided this voluntary review.
