"2023 Speak Up Talk Radio Firebird Book Award Winner"

Are the moments in life and love just coincidences or could it be destiny?

Curvy Chantal-Marie Delacroix is a proud biracial woman focused on her successful international career. Over the past few years, she's preferred wine, gourmet food, traveling, fine literature, and being with her college sister-girlfriends. Happily, she has remained celibate and single with no interest in dating. However, a chance encounter with a foreign man feels cosmic without reason.

He lives by a strict set of codes, unbending rules, and traditions. Although desired by many, he selects only acceptable females for brief and private dalliances. He doesn't deviate. But strong forces pull him toward this unknown American woman with rare and mystical eyes.

Willfully throwing caution to the wind, their magnetic chemistry lures her into a world of seduction and secrets, while simultaneously igniting an inferno that can engulf and destroy everything.

I found this book emotional, unique and remarkable. “Place a high value on owning your faults and weaknesses,” and “Coming out on the positive side of life’s adversities with the help of loved ones, unwavering friendships, and certain beliefs of faith” are especially well-conceived. Problems, pleasures, and pain is a part of living life, and how we overcome these problems can divide us into those who think the moments of their story ends with each solved problem and those who allow you to look beyond the here and now.

In “Moments with You,” we are reminded to be patient, and to take time to think before taking action because our actions or inactions, both, have consequences. If something in our life is meaningful and it’s worth knowing, it will require time; time which is not often promised to us. The immediate satisfactions we tell ourselves to be happy with and the results tend not to be as important in the larger view of life.

The author's emphasis on empathy requires the ability to put your perspective and viewpoint aside for a time to take on the story from the character’s point of view. I believe Ms. Waters’ writing draws us in and consumes us in a way that although it’s a lengthy read, it’s a journey well worth taking. She teaches while taking you on a rollercoaster ride of humor and humanity, that without understanding and entering into another's feelings, we couldn’t grow. If we’re incapable of growth and change will we ever feel we’re understood by those who claim to love us?

Even though this book is full of angst, passion, and emotional triggers in many ways it's cathartic. O’Shan Waters writes with quirky humor and a deep understanding of the suffering of others and a wanting to do something about it. The book is sexual to push the experiences and intimacy in the building of characterization but it isn’t an erotic read by any means for those familiar with the “erotic” genre. It is romantic, but not a simple formulated romance because the emphasis is on human growth, weaknesses, friendships, family secrets, and the structure of faith are also driving forces that take place in “Moments with You”.

I highly recommend this epic reading experience for your library. It’s one of those books you will want to read more than once in a lifetime.

This story is an absolute journey. It took me a month to read it in its entirety, and that’s ok because I believe as the reader, I needed time to digest all that goes on throughout.

We start out with Marie, a strong independent female who is half African-American and half French, and a mystery man. They have a previous encounter in Paris prior to the beginning of the book. Eventually we find out that the MMC is an international superstar.

He is enthralled with Marie, his Arabian Sands, and she is just as head over heels for him. However, his strong cultural traditions keep the two of them from having an open relationship. They do have a secret love for years.

I may have wanted to slap him a time or ten throughout this book! But his love for Marie overshadows any reason I may have felt that way!

There are TWISTS and TURNS that I didn’t see coming. Like, hard core twists and turns! My goodness, when I try to think back on then all I just can’t wrap my head around them! But it made the story so compelling. Throughout it all, Marie has her Delta sisters to help her (omg these women are fantastic!). I don’t know how she handled all that she did; I wouldn’t have been able to.

The MMC and his brothers were great. They love each other and have lots of fun together. That bleeds into the relationship with him and Marie, there is a closeness between them all. Even if at first some of the members don’t understand what the MMC sees in her. (Oh, they figure it out eventually. They’re just a little slow to pick up what HE gets immediately 🥰)

Everything he does, he does for Marie. And that continues to the very end, of the book.

If you like drama, love, angst, friendship, romance, crying (lol), and a story that sucks you in and makes you live years in a single book? Then read this story. Please.

I’m not sure what I’m going to do with my life now. This book has been with me for a month. I feel like it’s going to live with me forever. Thank you O’Shan Waters for sharing your story, your thoughts, your input, your characters, and friends with me. I am grateful and forever humbled by this opportunity. 🩷

A Literary Masterpiece
Moments with You
Is about exactly what the title says. It’s Moments with the people you love.

I don’t even know how to categorize this book.
It’s a story of love, family and friendship but also about loss, trauma and self healing. It’s about culture and pushing boundaries. As you read you will be happy and sad, you will laugh, cry, you will hurt and you will love!

If you have the opportunity to read this, Don’t rush through it!
There is so much information, details and depth to this. Take it slow and enjoy the journey. Let the writing do what it is meant to do! This is way more than just a story it’s an experience.
There is some spice and I thought it was so well done, that it’s beautiful! It’s LOVE!

O’shan Waters has a such a unique style of writing that can be a bit overwhelming at first.
Oh but it is so WORTH IT!
Never read anything quite like this.

This is definitely a book that will live with me always!

Excited to continue this beautiful collection!

You know that feeling when a book completely consumes you? That was Moments with You by O’Shan Waters for me. This story had me questioning fate, love, and the choices we make. Chantal-Marie is a woman who knows what she wants—her career, her independence, her peace. She’s not looking for love, at all. But then he walks in. Mysterious. Intense. The kind of man who lives by his own unbreakable rules—until her. And whew, the chemistry? It’s like a slow burn that explodes in the best way.

But what hit me the most wasn’t just the romance—it was the journey. This book is deep. It’s about growth, faith, and the weight of our decisions. It made me think about how sometimes the most unexpected moments change us forever. The writing is beautiful—it’s emotional, raw, even funny at times, but also heavy in a way that sticks with you. If you love books that make you feel something long after you turn the last page, this one is so worth your time. This book will sit with me for a while.. this book was raw, real and took me on such a roller coaster.

Warning: a few spoilers here.

Moments With You wasn’t the easiest read for me, but it definitely left its mark. This interracial, intercontinental romance between Marie Delacroix, a driven and successful biracial woman, and Jae Sung Kim, a global singing sensation bound by cultural traditions and a major secret, dives deep into emotional territory. Despite some challenges with the writing style, the love story at its core makes it worth reading.

Where Moments With You really shines is in the emotional and romantic arc between Marie and Jae Sung. Their connection is intense, raw, and beautifully complicated. Both characters bring layers of depth—Marie’s strength and determination are captivating, while Jae Sung’s internal struggle between his cultural traditions and his undeniable attraction to her adds complexity to his character.

This isn’t just a romance; it’s a story about navigating differences—cultural, personal, and emotional. The way O’Shan Waters digs into the psyches of both characters is impressive. You might not always agree with their choices (I didn’t!), but you’ll absolutely feel invested in their journey.

The intercontinental setting adds richness to the story as well, giving it a global feel that enhances the narrative. The cultural elements tied to Jae Sung’s heritage and Marie’s own identity create a nuanced backdrop for their romance.

The writing style took some getting used to. There were a lot of POV changes mid-chapter, sometimes without much warning, and the shifts in tense were jarring at times. It felt a bit disjointed and made it harder for me to stay fully immersed in the story.

Then there’s the exposition. There were long stretches of explanation that slowed the pacing quite a bit. I found myself wanting more natural storytelling through action or dialogue to keep the momentum going.

MWY has a lot of heart. The romance between Marie and Jae Sung is what keeps this book afloat—it’s emotional, deeply felt, and will stick with you. If you’re into romances that explore the messiness of love while diving into cultural and emotional depths, this one’s worth checking out.

Ahhh…deep breath. Just finished! Never have I ever read a book that came with a list of songs to listen to prior to reading to set the mood of the book! Never have I started and finished a book at my beach home. With the author name O’Shan Waters, I felt this was very fitting. This author made me laugh, cry, feel love and joy and added just enough “tasteful spice” to the read. As a white woman, I thank you for providing me with a beautiful look into the lives of the wonderfully black Delta Sisters and the joy of being a black woman. Our beautiful cultures make us all the wonderful people we are. Thank you for sharing this wonderfully warm story with me. I am hooked and will read more of your amazing set.

There’s so so so much to say about this book that I am going to try to make it short and sweet.
This book, I felt like I was in the story with O’Shan and it was her story. In so many different ways and that it could be ours in many other ways. If we stop and look at our lives. But this book kept me on my toes and I got some of the outcomes right. But I am glad I didn’t get them all. I truly enjoyed reading this book so much that I would recommend it to those who like slow burn and strings pulled in so many go ways. I loved it.

I enjoyed this love story a great deal, though it may be too graphic for some. I am sorry to hear it is no longer available, as it is the prequel to her Moments of Reset which is a bit confusing without it.
It's a story well worth searching for!

📚BOOK REVIEW 📚

⭐️Goodread Rating: 4.95/ 5⭐️
💫My Rating: 4/5 💫

📝My Review📝

“Moments with You ”(MWY) is a fascinating novel that provides a descriptive dual POV in which it allows the reader to immerse oneself into the MMC and MFC’s captivating journey. A reader will be drawn into the character’s past and present experiences through a dual time line that may elicit STRONG emotions. While some of the storyline is expected, O’Shan Waters takes the readers on a roller coaster with many unexpected twist and turns. Durning my reading experience with MWY, I found myself enduring tears, frustration, laughter, vulnerability, curiosity, and moments of sensuality. Water’s writing style was a format that I have not experienced as a reader. At first , it was difficult to get use to her writing style, but once I got “into the groove” I enjoyed it. Her writing style added an extra flare to the storyline. Furthermore, she adds details that bring humor and a greater understanding to the storyline. Added musical elements in the writing are also included so one can refer to them as they read to enhance the mood and aesthetic of the novel. It was a great experience as I had not heard of some of the songs she had listed in her story.

Due to the descriptive and detailed writing, it did take me awhile to read the novel in its entirety. This also was influenced by my need to emotionally process and conceptualize each dynamic level of experiences and emotions that were drawn from this reading experience. As a music therapist, it was intriguing to not only see the musical influences in her writing, but also the psychology and behavioral influences within it. Waters understood and expressed what her characters would truly feel in these specific experiences and how it would affect them in their journey in a realistic way. The realism in the plot and writing made the story much more moving and influential!

If you are open to deep emotional and descriptive storylines with sneaky twists, I would recommend that you check out O’Shan Water’s “Moments with You”! Just make sure you allow yourself time to not only physically read the book, but to also experience it, understand it, and feel it. This is what makes her novel stand out amongst others within her genre. In addition, due to the sensitive and at times intense storylines, I recommend having a support team available to help process any emotions that may evolve from your journey. What was also great with this series was Water’s willingness to interact with me as a reader. In addition to the extra fun information she provided through videos and images, she helped cultivate the experience by becoming a person on my support team as I walked through this world she created.

🤍Thanks to O’Shan Waters for trusting me with their novel in return for my personal review🤍

Whew! Let me breathe!

This amazing literature is a slow burn love story that took me on an emotional roller coaster of a lifetime. It is filled with trauma, love, heartbreak, overcoming fears, desire, passion, raw emotions, family love, true sisterhood and so much! There are many unexpected twists and turns that will have you gripping the pages, screaming, tears, ready to throw the book across the room, LOL laughter and clutching your pearls moments and believe me so much more. Be prepared to be on the edge of your seat and fall in love with the main characters.

It is truly a beautifully, well written journey that captures the characters, events, emotions and relationships with vivid perfection. I could visualize so many aspects of this read. Often, I felt like I was in the room and feeling the emotions of the characters. It made me reminisce about the good ol’days with family and friends. It was so relatable with my upbringing as an African American woman.

If you love a great love story, buckle up! This is a literary journey for you! Be prepared to love each character, keep tissues on hand, don’t hesitate to laugh out loud, and allow yourself to embrace any triggers as there is impact to the heart in so many ways. Oh, shall I not forget… You must review and play the music playlist while reading. It fits PERFECTLY!!! I had to save all on my drive to play leisurely. 😊

Message obtained from this journey…
The bonds that tie us together can never be ignored and believe that having the love of your family friends, and God you can walk any path without regret. We may fall, but at the end of it all success is inevitable.

Really a 4.5/5

There comes a time when you read a love story that turns you upside down and inside out. A love story so organically beautiful that your feelings about love is transformed. I have had the privilege to read such a story.

Ms. Waters introduces a love story between Marie Delacroix and Jae Sung Kim, star crossed lovers whose story crosses ethnicities and countries.

Marie, African American French woman who is the Director of International Music with Sony, work takes her across the globe frequently. During her traveling, she meets Jae Sung Kim, South Korean international mega star, singer, songwriter, and producer.

The two meet and are immediately attracted to each other and spend the first night together that leads to a long distance love affair. Hearts entwined and commitments made, they forge ahead, building a life together even though their work often keeps them separated. But even with undying love, comes turmoil, strife, secrets, conflict and loss. And when you thought that that was more than enough drama in a love story, there are some twist and turns you would never expect.

Ms. Waters gives you a front row seat to Marie and Jae’s attempt to navigate these obstacles as they live a life that they fill with memories of moments shared between the two. Standing against time and distance, they recognize their love is unbreakable.

Ms. Waters creates a love story that tells the unique journey of these two lovers. Told through the eyes of Marie, Ms. Waters captures the moments that Marie and Jae share across a ten year romance. Revealing complicated and complex characters that burrow into your reading soul and attach to your heart strings. You experience the whole gamut of emotions as you read this lengthy but engaging novel.

Ms. Waters writing style is phenomenal as she captures behavior nuances that clearly establish each character’s personality. Character dialogue that captivates, bringing to life each character’s motivations, feelings, including their fears, goals, and ambitions. And, her use of detail descriptions to create the scenes make you feel apart of it and makes the moments transparent.

What a love story that was told that will remain embedded in your memory for a long time

Excellent story! This book was well written and intriguing, romantic, mysterious and sexy. So many things happen in Chantal Marie thirties.

Her family relationships are one. Her French dad is my favorite person in her family. Her mom and sister I hate. Her supportive crazy fun friends are another. Can’t get enough of their clowning. Then we add this man and the world of KPop, his secrets, his “idol brothers” the crazy games, and the family. I literally was drooling over the hotness. Then sexy Adois. That’s a black man was to die for! I laughed, cried, and sometime held my breath in shock reading this book. The chemistry between Marie and J was so hot I had to take a break a few times just to come back and read it twice! Nothing like erotica but it’s sexy and romantic classic and real. A gifted writer with classy style and wisdom.

Loved the music and movie references that made me feel like I was in the story. The details and playlist I could see what was happening as I read and could play the music she was listening to in her sadness or the fun ones. There are serious issues and triggers. I think the way this author wrote them was very therapeutic and not sensationalized or creepy.

Awesome novel! Hard to believe this is Oshan first book. Definitely will read more than once. High recommend if you want a real good story that will make you feel, think and dream.

I give this book 5 stars. It was such an incredible experience and emotional ride. I truly enjoyed it. The story was well written; the characters were well developed and I could see so many people that I know coming to life. I could feel the love, hope, joy, sisterhood among the female friends, sisters and cousins as well as the heartache.

I also enjoyed the relationships between the male characters - the trust and support among the "brothers". They really had each other's backs - whether it was keeping secrets or playing pranks.

I was laughing, crying, and cheering throughout the whole book. The twists and turns kept me reading until I could not keep my eyes open any more. I especially love the growth of the main female character. The vivid imagery of the places they went for work and for pleasure were fantastic; I was transported through the pages. Many of the places, I had visited and some are on my future travel list.

I would love this in an audio format.

Thanks O'Shan for a great read. Can' wait to read book 2.

Debut book?

Wow!! Outstanding! Emotional ride of a strong yet vulnerable half black and half French woman. Her girlfriends are hilarious! Her family dynamic is interesting. Her business life is fierce. Her secret love is fire!! The chemistry between Marie and Jae melts the words off the page!
Classic ky written not erotic but hot. He can’t keep his hands off her! I think all women including me want to be loved like this.
Oh and the. His family Oh God! Learning about Asian culture was deep and really added a twist to this book. Not a typical international romance at all. So many triggers and secrets. Never would have guess it all the way through. When I thought I knew what was going to happen it turned out to be something completely unexpected.

I couldn’t put this book down hill early. I have read it twice.

Highly recommend for a complex and deep story of love, loss, trauma, and the power within a beautiful black woman.

After getting a recommendation to read this first-time author's debut book, I took on this big one. It sucked me in right at the beginning and I couldn't put it down. I finished it in four days and took a break then read it again! There are so many hidden secrets, levels of intrigue, heat, and passion in this love story.

The chemistry was so hot even when they were just in the same room. WOW! I felt like I was in the story as it was happening. All the craziness between girlfriends had me laughing just about every time they got together. Real friendships. I didn't think I would learn about all types of music and Korean culture but I did. But the real lesson was in real love and that was the cherry on top.
Excellent. I recommend if you want something different, that makes you think, holds your heart in suspense, and makes you laugh, and cry as you feel like you are the characters.
This is the right book!

Marie, Marie girl what a life! Can I have your wardrobe?!! Each chapter is definitely a page-turner. I was intrigued from the beginning and emotions made me feel as if this was my own reality. The diva dolls were ride or die sistas, which I relate very well. By the end, I was overwhelmed with the vast feeling from all cells in my body but I wanted more. There were tears, loud laughter, outbursts of frustration, and shocking gasps that kept me up until 3 am many a night. I love this ride! Highly Recommend to read more than once!

This book was not just words on a page... it was more than the ink and paper used to bring together the paragraphs and pages.... it was a journey!! It was a full on experience. I felt like I was with the main character (with her "self talk") and her working through things like we all should do... with her group of friends ... and all the different aspects of love- the journey was everything!
Recommend 100%!

It took me a while but it was worth it! Good book. Deep and interesting. Surprised me because I only like romance and this was drama and intense but definitely a love story. I laughed, cried and sometimes had to reread parts to get the details all right. So much happening it sucked me in. I really liked it.

It’s a long road but there are lots of twists and turns you don’t see coming and I followed all the way. I am so impressed with the storytelling of this author.

Intimidatingly large novel I admit I had to make time to read but once I did I couldn’t put it down. Finished it three days.
A sorry that is all things and I highly recommend.
