Tessa wasn't looking for forever; it found her anyway.

When Tessa goes to the Advena Club, all she wants is a gin and tonic, a dance, and maybe - just maybe - a make-out session. What she finds is a man with glowing golden eyes too beautiful to resist.

The only issue is, he isn't human.

He also comes as part of a package deal.

Aster, Morgan, and Cy have been travelling for five years straight to find their elyn - a being who will bring harmony to their world. Tessa is everything they've dreamed - but she might not be willing to give up Earth for the stars.

They have eight hours to convince her.

Let the count down begin.

COUNT DOWN is a fast burn, insta-connection, low-angst, super spicy, MMMF sci-fi alien romance suitable for adult readers only. Swords (and tentacles) will cross, there will be a lot of swearing, and the human heroine will not be choosing at the end. If any of this is not your scene, please read a different book.

COUNT DOWN is the first book in the Advena Abductions series, which continues with INTO ORBIT and DARK SPACE. Though each book features a different heroine and has a resolved why-choose romance, they have a series arc and are intended to be read in order.

Tropes:
- why choose/poly
- Fated Mates
- Aliens/monsters/cyborg
- Tentacles *eyebrow wiggle*

What should have been just a one night stand with a sexy stranger turns into something Tessa never expected—she is the elyn (fated mate) to 3 sinfully sexy aliens who have spent the last five years looking for her. Tessa only has a few hours to decide if she is willing to leave Earth to be with the beings who she’s inexplicably drawn to, or if she’s willing to part ways with them for years at a time.

Count Down is a short and super spicy why choose/poly MMMF romance that is 100000% a binge read. I liked Tessa, but Aster, Morgan, and Cy stole the show for me. These three sweet men are the perfect mates for her, and I just loved them so much.

Multi-alien polyam

I really enjoyed this book and all the foibles of the MCs. I was surprised how quickly the author was able to get me invested in their love story and I still can’t pick a fave MMC. Aster was confident and a little enigmatic next to Cy’s quiet steadiness and Morgan’s over the top caring possessiveness. They dealt with boundary setting in a way I enjoyed and had a few tests of relationship strength. Looking forward to the next book!

Spice: 5/5

Triggers: domestic violence (off page), fat phobia, PTSD, discussion of cannibalism, mention of family death

First, I want to start off by saying that I am not a RH/Multiple Partner trope reader. But, once I saw this book as a choice for an ARC read, I just felt drawn to it. And let me tell you, I am SO happy that I decided to step out of my comfort zone. As my first “Monster Smut”, “RH/Multiple Partner” book I felt this book had grabbed me by the throat and yanked me into this sexy sic-fi world; where I felt nothing but pure bliss! As I have told the extremely lovely Author, this book has brought me over to the Dark Side of “Why Choose”!

This is a perfect book to dip your toes into the world of the “Sharing” trope. The Author was able to deliver a beautiful story of love, trust, the true meaning of being cherished, lots of very spicy scenes, and also laid out such a descriptive sci-fi world that was truly palpable.

The book has multiple POV’s, which I am always a fan of. We first are introduced to Tessa, FMC, who is a curvy FMC. And I have to highlight this fact…one of my pet peeves is when Authors’ don’t deliver on promises (ex: character is supposed to be curvy, badass, strong, etc….and then the character ends up being nothing as promised. I seriously get so frustrated on the characters that flop). But, in Count Down the “curvy” FMC has fantastic descriptions of her body that back up her being voluptuous. This scores big points in my book. Moving on, Tessa is just barely stretching her independent wings after a bad breakup with her emotionally abusive ex-boyfriend. Tessa decides to listen to the encouragement of her girlfriends and takes home the sexy stranger with golden eyes she dances with at the club, Aster (MMC1). But, Tessa soon finds out he is a package deal and her world is turned upside down once she meets Morgan (MMC2) and Cy (MMC3).

Aster (MMC1) is a Starlight being and he is the sexy, flirty, jokester of the boys. Morgan (MMC2) is a Cephalopod being (he has tentacles that unlocked new kinks for me🥵) he also happens to be a Prince from his planet and is the broody OTT male with a soft side (only for his loves). And lastly, there is Cy (MMC3) he is the most beautiful of the trio and happens to be a cyborg. He is the gentlest and the most pure of the boys. There is such a great background told of each male, that you are able to really get a grasp on their pasts.

One of the biggest things that made me love this story so much is that the males ALL love one another just as much as they do Tessa. There is MM/MMM/MMMF/MF action in here. And I just couldn’t help but swoon so hard when you could feel the bonds of each male towards one another. There’s so much trust and devotion between them all, it is chef’s kiss!

I would recommend this book to all of my friends that venture into this territory. But also to those that are like me and not super comfortable with RH/Multiple Partner books. I feel that this Author delivered an organic relationship between all the characters. Gave incredibly spicy scenes that had me blushing. And she also created a great inter-galactic world that I can not wait to get more of in Book 2!

Yeahhhhhh I'm gonna need an epilogue here!!!! 😁

Had me reeled in from the beginning and I read it all in one sitting (minus kids/dogs duties)

Tessa meets and falls for 3 non-human beings and has to decide if she stays on Earth without them or leaves with them. 🌎

The spice in this one.... 🥵❤️‍🔥🌶🌶🌶🌶
Whew! MF/MM/MFMM 👾🤖💫👍

I will be waiting for book #2 in the series Hollie!!!

Hear me out. I've read some excellent alien smut. We're talking Ice planet barbarians..
Dare I say this is just as good if not better.
I loved the writing.
Fast paced with a good story line
Short read (Do I wish it was longer? Yes.)
Alien RH (first of this kind I've ever read and gotta say i love it) and a standalone. Gotta love those.
BUT THE REPRESENTATION OF INDIAN CULTURE TOOK THE CAKE. I'm Bengali and I squealed out loud when my language was mentioned.
And Tessa the FMC had her period which is very uncommon. Usually the FMCs in the books I read never get their period... Like bruh?!
Here's some of my favourite quotes from Count Down:
we do not gaslight ourselves, Tessa.
.
She was my elyn; I’d bring her every star in the sky if she asked for it. I’d never let her feel like I’d refuse her.
.
My mother had always told me that there is one main desire at the very core of every being, one thing that they want more than anything else in the world. She told me that if I used my instincts to try to find that thing, everyone around me would become easier to understand.
.
You must wait til dark falls to catch a star, Tessa.’ I grinned. ‘But tonight you have a star begging for you to catch him. You can always throw him back later if you change your mind.’
.
‘The black might be big,’ he whispered, ‘but we conquered it to find you.’
.
Arc was provided in exchange for an honest review.

This was a fast burn, sweet alien sci-fi why choose romance that ticked all the right boxes for me. The spice was next level, but so was the romance. I really enjoyed the writing style and the storyline and found the "men" to be very endearing and caring. This book was right up my alley and I am very excited and determined to read the next in the series of standalones!

COUNT DOWN was a completely random find and I'm so glad I read it because it was really good! Each of the MCs was distinct and interesting and it was a fun combination of beings - Tessa, a human, was strong and independent; Aster, a star being, was charming and easy going; Morgan, a cephalopod alien, was possessive and primal; and Cy, a cyborg with feelings, was sweet and shy. All together they made a great group with lots of spice.

The guys were already in love and together when they met Tessa who is their "elyn" which is like a fated being who can bring harmony to their lives. I adored how affectionate the guys were with each other since a lot of why choose with MM content doesn't always include the softer moments between the guys. They fall quickly for Tessa and she for them but I loved seeing it.

My only small complaint is that I wish we had seen the first 6 weeks on the ship when Tessa left with them rather than jumping over that part and summarizing those early adjustments and growth of their relationship. I would have much preferred seeing that over a quick space battle. We don't see a ton of the universe outside of Earth but there were some new things toward the end so I'm looking forward to learning more in the next book.

Content Warning: past abusive relationship; past death of parents and sibling

We have Tessa, the human, Aster, the star, Morgan, the tentacle being (he wasn't really a monster so I can't call him a tentacle monster) and Cy the cyborg.

The book started off well until we get to the apartment scene. From there it felt like they were on a looooooonnnnnnngggg date with a time crunch.

Then, how do you just clean out your apartment and leave a note, and your friends saw you leave the club with a random one night stand, and then that plot point isn't picked up again? Your caring ride or die friends, not just some random people you live with?

Then at times, the four of them meshed, then at other times, I just wasn't feeling their chemistry. I felt Cy was put in the back burner category when it came to her beaus.

So, wasn't all good, wasn't bad either. I'd have loved a second epilogue.

If you are looking for short, fast paced book, with plenty of spice then look no further.

This is the first time I’ve read anything to do with Alien spice but I most say I am quite intrigued.

Count down is an insta-connect MMMF romance in which Aster, Morgan & CY are searching for their Elyn - someone who will bring balance to their world and that apparently is Tessa.

This is a four book standalone series in which every book follows a different heroine! I enjoyed Tessas story but I’m definitely looking forward to Mauves.

Nice read!

Peasantly surprised by this book! Alien RH aren't usually my type of book but this one is interesting and I like the world building.

The characters are likeable with their own originalty. They're from different species which is captivating. I would like to know more about them!

The plot is ok, a bit predictable but not boring.

Expect very good steam😏🤯

I really enjoyed this book. I love monster/alien romance and this felt like it ticked both those boxes. The fact that it was MMMF was a bonus.

The author did an excellent job of giving me an instant romance/love without it feeling contrite or forced. The characters were all likable to the point where I could honestly not give you a favorite as I loved all the guys.

I loved Aster, as I did the others BUT his species was amazing and one I have never seen before in fantasy romance. Would I like to see this species more and in a possible series? Yes… yes, I would. I laughed so hard when he just disappeared as soon as he got… should we say "too excited"?

This is a great book for lovers of alien/monster romance and if you like authors like Lillian Lark you will love this fantastic little read.

There was a beautiful balance of sex scenes to the point where I could not label this smut or spice. There was just enough not to swallow the plot. I will be looking out for this author's future work.

This book was a solid 4 out of 5 for me.

An alien reverse harem that is high on steam and low on ick

You might want to step way if you can’t handle a fair bit of alien kink - but if that is your thing, dive right on in, because this one is a cracker! The pace of this story is great, and the intimate scenes are well written with plenty of steam. About half way through the book it felt like the story was coming to a natural end, and I was thrilled when I saw how much I still had to go - I wasn’t ready to leave Tessa and her men just yet. The story comes to a very satisfying conclusion, and I am definitely going to be keeping an eye out for the next in the series.

Full disclosure: I was given an ARC of the book, however this review is my own honest opinion.

Count Down is a delicious, why choose, "fated mate" Monster Romance. Hollie Hartwright writes a spicy romance with a truly fun world to step into that is contemporary, and futuristics all at the same time.

Tessa is a spunky female lead who ends up countering more than she expected wearing a new dress and dancing with a mysterious bright eyed man.

Aster is from beyond the stars looking for the one meant to be with him and his loves. Bumping in to Tessa he gets everything and more, but will Tessa accept him and his partners as they really are?

Absolutely adored this story and couldn't put it down if you like alien/monster romance that is spicy this one is for you!

This book should have 5 stars for the idea and writing. However, the lack of detail and resolution was enough to take away two stars. This story needed at least one (if not more) books following it. I understand that this is in a series, but each book in this series centers on a new harem and their own adventures, leaving so much unsaid for this story.
We literally end up knowing nothing. We have a dutiful prince with intense hunting and mating instints, a few thousand year lifespan, and a scary mother, whose planet they are headed to - but haven't made it yet, so we don't experience any of that.
We have a cyborg who is on the run, a large bounty on his head, who is an anomaly and has the biggest peen to be found (she takes him one time in the final chapter), and a hundreds of thousands of years lifespan.
We have a reluctant starling politician who is shirking his duties, can change his form at will, and has a lifespan of eternity.
We also have a human female who will die in 40ish years and is pregnant with 2 heartbeats and friends back on earth who will miss her.
Does she ever return to earth to contact her cousin or roommates? Does she find some way to extend her lifespan so her harem doesn't fall apart in such a short time? Does she have a tentacle or star or machine baby (or two)? What do they look like? Where do they settle? Do they like it? Is the bounty ever lifted? Do they take down the horrible Roth race? Does anyone find out she's human and it is forbidden for her to be off earth? Does she miss living with just her harem on the ship? Can she swim? Does she get to watch her harem with each other? What other preferences do her other mates have? What is sexy time like with a mate connection? Do they get in trouble for creating the mate bond without the ceremony? Does starling change his appearance to suit her preferences or stay the same? And so many more questions are never answered. For tentacles and endless stamina and monster cocks, there wasn't any creative bedroom or harem play.

I adored this book! It is definitely one of my favorite reads this year. Not only is it spicy and sweet, but it's also funny and emotional. Between Aster, Morgan and Cy, I love them all equally. This book has everyone's POVs which is *chefs kiss*.

When they find their elyn, or Tessa, they are so sweet to her. When describing the three of them, Aster is charming and eloquent. He will cheer you up whenever you need it, no matter how hard that might be. Morgan is brave and loyal and will care for you even when you don't care for yourself. And Cy, he is kind to a fault and will love you until the stars burn out. Who would not want any of these beautiful beings?

Tessa is a human, but she's also who will help balance these three. She is their other "mate" basically. So this relationship dynamic is MMMF, which I'm 100% down for. She spends time with them while they try to convince her to go with them, but they only have 8 hours to do it because they're not allowed to be on Earth for any longer than that.

There isn't that much action outside of the romantic side of things, but there is enough going on that you will be hooked. The fifteen point ninety K thing, I'm glad to see where that went at the end because I was wondering when that would pop up.

My favorite thing in the book by far are the scenes with Tessa and her "view", as she was describing it to Aster. When she was looking at her reflection the first time and then all four of them. That there are two scenes that connect to that later on, like she was sharing a secret with Aster, ugh, so good.

They are all so perfect for each other. This is the first book I've read by Hollie but I plan on reading more. I can't wait for the second one :) I received an advance review copy for free, and I am leaving this review voluntarily.

I was immediately hooked by the premise of this story, and Hartwright did not disappoint. I've read a lot of poly romances. I've read a lot of monster and alien romances. But I haven't read a poly monster/alien romance that involves four different species, so Count Down really stood out to me.

At just under two hundred pages, this was very much a quick, binge-able read. It doesn't take long for the action to start, and once it gets going, it seems like Tessa and her guys always have something going on.

I truly appreciated that we get many lesser-used creatures in this romance. With characteristics that I don't normally read about, and abilities that aren't always common, it was easy for this story to be wholly unique to anything else I've read.

I loved Aster, Morgan, and Cy. They were all essentially the perfect guy alien for Tessa. They balanced each other so well, and adding Tessa to their mix helped complete them both as a group and as individuals. And I thought that balancing was such a well done part of the plot. I don't usually like the idea of needing another person to feel whole, but Hartwright put the emphasis on balancing each other, rather than completing each other. Morgan, Aster, and Cy would have survived just fine without Tessa joining them, but adding her highlighted their own strengths within their group.

I thoroughly enjoyed reading about Tessa's new experiences with both aliens and a poly group. Whether you're into alien/monster romance, poly relationships, or both, Count Down is sure to be a different kind of read for you.

ARC Review
10 out of 5 stars!!!!

Hollie absolutely smashed this debut book. This book will be in the Top 5 of this year (and most Top 5 overall).

Troupes -
Why choose romance!
Sci-fi w/ aliens species (tentecles…).
Fated mates and much more.

I absolutely adored each character in this book as well as how each one interacted with one another. Now, I won’t spend too much time on the plot because well you should read it and see it. ;) Tessa planned for a one-night stand but, it was much more for the hot mysterious stranger named Aster (and his friends: Cy and Morgan). She’s their elyn but, isn’t part of their world. Will Tessa be able to get past this new information for something that completes her and all of them (Aster, Cy, and Morgan)?

I read this book in one sitting and then stormed all of Hollie’s pages looking for more! I can’t wait for her next book, Into Orbit, and all those after. Hollie gave us sweet, patient love interests who are unique from other sci-fi books with a female main character who ACTUALLY isn’t okay right away when finding out there are other “humanoid” species out there in the galaxy.

Anyways, I could go on and on about this book and everything I loved or adored about it. As this book hasn’t left my mind since I read it!

I didn't know what to expect when I started this book but I went into it with an open mind. And heart. It did not disappoint and was infact hard to put down cause unfortunately, I am human 🙄.

I loved that the author had adequately offered trigger warnings and we didn't go into this blindly but also, the book didn't focus solely on the abuse but the story of what was happening.

I love growly characters and Morgan just did it for me. I mean, I'll take a serving of grumpy, muscular, dominant, huge and seemingly scary but safe, sweet and attentive man any day🥵 cause he just does it for me. Cy is just adorable but I know he could be a deadly weapon if he wanted to and Aster is just so sweet when they meet with Tessa the first time.

Though the story is kinda fast paced( count down tittle) but the fact that Tessa felt safe with them even after the first initial meet, speaks volumes.

It is my first book by the author and I wouldn't mind reading more from her. Also, can't wait for the next book in the series.

(Amy) Hollie Hartwright’s Count Down is the first book in the Advena abductions series. It’s a polyamorous why choose, science fiction romance. I loved the rich characters, especially the personalities of the three aliens who venture to Earth in search of their match. Each is so different, but you can tell their bond is strong , and they relate to each other in such a beautiful and often hilarious way. Their match is a human, Tessa, who’s been fairly unlucky in love at this point.

The only thing I was uncertain about in the beginning was a sense of the time and location. Eventually I just assumed that it was current year, typical big city. It’s not a big thing, and it didn’t really impact my enjoyment of the book.

This book was so fun. It’s fast-paced, with lots of adventure, and a real sense for their developing relationship. I love Tessa’s attitude and sarcasm, and the flirty vulnerability of the space men. If you need some alien spice (tentacles?) in your life, this could be the book for you!

Thank you to Hollie Hartwright and BookSirens for the ARC in exchange for an honest review. My opinions are my own.

I loved this!

The premise is something I think we've seen before (girl meets alien, falls in love etc) but I love the twists that make this an unique story. First off, the aliens in question have only 8 hours to convince their human mate - elyn - to trust them and leave with them, or else two thirds of their group cannot visit for 5 years. Talk about long distance relationship. They are also all very different from one another, so it's not just one alien species Tessa has to get used to quickly. Oh no, we have a cyborg, a starling (he's made of stars) and one of them sports several tentacles in his trueform.

But it works. The story is soft and sweet (not the mention spicy) and even at under 200 pages, we manage to get individual moments with all the men alone as well as a good amount of plot and group activities also. And the pacing of the story works so well, there wasn't a moment where I felt overwhelmed or lost in the mix.

Cy was my favorite of the men, but Archer and Morgan also stole a piece for themselves and their package deal is definitely a good one. A very good package indeed.

This was a pleasant surprise. I wasn't sure how it was going to go and I'm not the biggest reverse harem fan so my expectations were pretty low. However, I really enjoyed "Count Down." This ended up being much sweeter and fluffier than I was expecting, there was a little angst, and a lot of spicy scenes, but overall this was just a really sweet love story with aliens.

Tessa was interesting enough as a MC and I loved how she made her three alien beaus play Monopoly to determine their true personalities. Our three love interests were unique and they never blended together. There wasn't a lot going on with the plot, this book is focused on their relationship versus anything really happening, but there is some spacey action towards the end.

At first the title confused me but I quickly understood a few chaperts in and I have so say it was very clever, I like when the author makes that connection with the content in the book.. Also this is a M/M/M/F romance where the leading lady don't have to pick between her suitors, it was a strange take on it considering these guys are "Alien", it made me wonder how physicaly things would work ... But it worked the author has such a amazing writing style it all came together, it was never boring, warning there is a lot of graphic sexual parts...But over all I did enjoy the book first book in this series and I hear it's a 4 book series so am kinda looking forward to the next one.

Oh my holy stars! I’m obsessed with the Advena Abductions series. I’ve been on the hunt for an alien boyfriend for ages, and I just found NOT 1 BUT 3.

A cinnamon roll space nerd, a smooth-talking pretty boy, and a water-loving beast with tentacles made for pleasure.

I don’t know where to begin with this series…Hartwright has crafted the erotic alien romance of my dreams. Smutty and spicy, but still sweet enough for me to enjoy it, and there’s plenty of playful domination without being cringy.

Indulgently seductive and clever, Hartwright wisks you away into a fantasy world, where you don’t have to choose. You can have your cake and it too, along with a trio of alien boyfriends!

All in all, a pulse-racing erotic romance and a sexy escape from the daily grind.

I don't really know what to rate this. It was a fun and short book that can be read in one sitting. It's not perfect, the pacing was off at points, it can feel rushed, but for what it was I enjoyed it. I skimmed some stuff that wasn't really up my alley (I'm OK with some alien romance 'parts' and others are not my jam) but that is a personal preference thing.

I predicted the end and it wasn't my favorite (Not a fan of that trope) but I know some people love it.

I feel there was some interesting dynamics between the characters but it wasn't pushed quite far enough for me and left me wanting more; as if the story was unfinished.

I think if you are a fan of all the tropes in this book and want a fun quick read you might enjoy this one.

So this was my first alien spicy story and I can whole heartily say that Hollie Hartwright has just unlocked a new favourite trope for me!

This story was everything I was looking for, a great story line, Tessa is a very relatable and I loved she was also curvy FMC. Then there is the sexy trio of Astra, Cy and Morgan. I won’t go into heavy detail but I will say you will be thanking Hollie once you start to read this book! 😁 The spicy scenes in this books are toe curling good.

I highly recommend this book. I cant wait for the next book in the series!

Tessa goes to the club to get a drink and maybe have some fun. But she didn't count on the tall drink of water giving her his eyes. He didn't count on finding the perfect other half of their souls in the club on earth. Tessa and the trio of men who are so different from each other and yet they all fulfill a special need she has must convince her to give up her life on earth for uncertainty beyond the stars.
While I liked the story, I felt that it was rushed in some spots, and the book ended much too soon. I suppose in a way its a good thing, the writing was done very well and I look forward to getting the next book. I received a free ARC and voluntarily decided to leave a review.

So...... I think we're going to have a problem here. Number one being that Hollie Hartwright only has one book out and now she's become an auto buy author for me. Number two being, no other book I read this year is going to live up to this one. This book is on par, if not above, with Knot Your Damn Omega, which was my top read of 2022.
I stumbled upon this purely by accident, while going though Amazon recommendations and I am so glad I did.

Including the moment I knew I was going to rate this book 5 stars:
"Tessa toyed with the handle of her mug. ‘I’ve never balanced anything.’ Morgan tilted his head and studied her face. ‘Maybe you just haven’t found the right weights,’ he said."

No geral eu curti e pretendo ler o próximo quando for lançado.
Meu único ponto negativo é que o livro precisa de uma nova revisão, pois encontrei alguns errinhos.
