Love the idea of thrilling international espionage with sexy spies and secret missions? Then this book is for you! This is the first book in a fast-paced romantic suspense trilogy featuring a strong FMC and a super sexy secret agent hero. While the first book is slow-burn, there is mature content and should be considered 18+. Mild TW of animal (off-page) and psychological abuse.
Anne Roman is the author of suspenseful and thrilling romance novels. Her books are fast-paced, steamy, and will leave you on the edge of your seat! When not writing, Anne can be found at home with her kids, pets, and a husband who still sweeps her off her feet.
✅free ✅good reviews ✅great blurb ✅Nora Roberts comparison ❌ cliffhanger ❓what if I read this now and it ends up as a trilogy / 3 instalment read or God forbid 4 books about the same couple and a long drawn out or NO HEA 😭
❣️Amazon description: To find her sister's killer, she'll need to become her sister.
I'm an FBI Agent about to close the biggest case of my career.
But when my sister is brutally murdered in the city I'm sworn to protect, my world is turned upside down.
It looks like a simple break-in turned deadly, but my gut tells me that there is more to the story. And when her boyfriend shows up at my agency office with a file full of secrets about her, my suspicions are confirmed.
Now, I must step into my sisters' role as an undercover agent to bring down an organization stealing deadly government secrets in order to find her killer.
And suspect number one? Simon Gallagher, the boyfriend, and apparently a spy for hire. He's sexy, dangerous, and hides a dark past. But there's something about his darkness that calls to me.
I need to work with Simon long enough to prove he was behind my sisters' murder. I just hope that the same dark charm he exuded over her, doesn’t lead me to my death too.
This is the first book in a fast-paced 18+ romantic suspense series that is perfect for the fans of Colleen Hoover, Michelle Heard, and Lucy Score.
I don’t often read thriller romance books, but after SEE ME, I might have to change that! This was an incredible read, and while it is a small book, it’s telling of how much I enjoyed it that I devoured it in two sittings. The quick pacing kept me at the edge of my seat, and thanks to the incredible narrating voices of Hannah and Simon, I was feeling all of the emotions: suspicion, outrage, pain, betrayal. The author really enjoyed ripping out my heart and playing around with it!
Speaking of Hannah and Simon, you’re going to be adding these two to your lists of favorite characters. Hannah is a no-bullshit woman, full of fire, spunk and determination, which made her easily relatable to me. Something else we have in common? An appreciation for men with accents. And that’s where our boy Simon comes in! You’ll have your next dark-haired heartthrob with this one. The banter and chemistry was out of this world, and Simon has magic fingers. If you know, you know.
I am now impatiently waiting for the sequel, because the cliffhanger had me screaming!
Read this in one sitting! Loved the characters and the dynamic. Definitely looking forward to the next book. The story was so heartfelt! I read thrillers every so often and this one is definitely one I would love to continue on!
I’m not one to read romance thrillers, but I am so glad I picked this book up. It’s incredibly fast paced and you don’t want to put it down! I loved the chemistry between the characters and the end made me want book 2 like now!
New to me author. I read this in one sitting as I couldn’t put it down. It has an original plot and is executed extremely well, so well I had to move straight on to the next book in the series
Wow! I came across this new author and I’m desperate for more! The crescendo of the events had me rapidly turning the pages! Exciting! Twist and turns! Incredible read!
I'm not much of a contemporary lover. A lot of contemporary books miss that little bit extra for me, that little something making the book different, that little extra helping me to forget about this world and my own life for a little bit. But I love mysteries, crimes and once in a while a maffia novel. So, when I was asked if I wanted a review copy for this book I didn't hesitate. The concept sounded intriguing and like the kind of contemporary I DO like.
I was not disappointed! This book was relatively short and therefore a quick read, but there was a lot going on and I loved how this book even managed to give us quite a few answers already in the end! Although nothing too bad happened in this book yet, I loved how there was a certain kind of tension throughout the book. Weird things were happening, our heroine felt a little lost and although I had an inkling what was going on, I couldn't predict the depth of it.
The heroine in this story is an interesting person. Mostly because it feels like she's not entirely sure herself who she is. And although it's clear that she feels a little uncomfortable with her new job, rightly so if you ask me, I think she has the personality to grow and learn a lot and to become a true bad ass at some point. And I love that. I like to see my heroines grow and learn and deal with life when it's unfair and horrible to them.
I also can't wait to learn more about Simon and the others in the next book. Although we've read a few chapters from his point of view, which added quite a lot to the tension, I don't feel like we really know who he is. And I'm pretty damn sure that's on purpose. It's clear that he does have a great hart and that he does fight for people when he cares about them, but I get the feeling that his fighting ways are not always on the legal side.
Wow. ☆ duel pov ☆ slow burn ☆ forbidden love ☆ fake dating ☆ spies & assassins ☆ no dull moments ☆ crazy twist
I went into this book completely blind. Was not disappointed one bit. It was quick paced. And never a dull moment. I was nervous about how thin the book itself is...but there was sooo much packed in the 214 page book. I didn't feel like anything got left out...least not could be resolved in the next book. The slow burn of this story was also pretty worth it. A bit of a teaser, but I have hopes for the 2nd book. The banter between Hannah and Simon. Damn. And can someone call me "lass" please 😆 Just absolutely loved this murder mystery secret spy romance story. Haven't read one like this before. That plot twist though !!! I seriously did not see that coming. At all. Usually I kinda figure out a twist, but this one completely surprised me.
Seriously highly recommend. Can't wait to start book 2.
This book was absolutely amazing! The premise was very much one I haven't read in a while so it was nice to bounce back into the world of thriller romance! One of the best things that Anne does in this book is write really well thought out and complex characters that make the plot so much more interesting!
I was obsessed with our FMC, simply because she comes off as this badass woman who takes no shit but is also on a very clear mission. She's brilliant and smart, which makes the reader more invested in her story and what is going to happen to her throughout the investigation!
See Me is the first book in the Dangerous Entanglement series. I have actually never heard of this author until recently. But man, it is so good. It's not my typical read, but the intense action, mystery, suspense, epic chemistry and attraction...Definitely edge of your seat fun. Hannah was a strong willed, smart, yet a bit flawed character. Simon, I actually really liked him as he added on to the mystery. Lawd!!! I definitely can't wait to see what happens next!
This was a very interesting book. Just when you think you have it all figured out the plot changes and you are left guessing again. Loved seeing how Hannah and Simon both changed throughout the book. Very excited to see where this goes in the next book.
Hannah is an FBI agent and is about to bring down the Hildago who are human traffickers. Things start to go off like the information changes his mind to testify. Her sister Sybil is murdered. Her sister’s boyfriend Simon comes to see her with information that rocks her world. She finds out Simon is a ghost but ends up going to help him, and find out who killed her sister. Great characters and storyline. Highly recommended Amazing book. I love that Hannah is an extremely strong woman and Simon is strong enough and finds her strength sexy. Amazing supporting characters. This is my first book by this author definitely not my last. This is book one and ends on a cliffhanger book two is out called Find Me
This was an action-packed suspense that had me reading it all in one day, I couldn't put it down, and now I need the next book to find out what happens.
This book is the first in the series and the story does continue into book 2. The book takes us on the journey of Hannah as she tries to work out who has betrayed her at work and why her sister has been keeping secrets.
I love the way this book was written, the way little crumbs were dropped and hints made about what might or might not be happening. It was frustrating in a really "I need to know what happened!" way and I enjoyed all the twists the story took me on.
Hannah.... she made me like her one minute and then want to knock some sense into her the next. She was a strong, albeit flawed FMC, which made me like her more. She has a bizarre relationship with her sister, we get some flashbacks to their childhood which was intriguing and I hope we find out more about how it came to be the way it is.
Simon.... mysterious, secretive, and so much more. I loved his character and the teasing he directed at Hannah, there was some serious attraction between them, but they have so many hurdles between them. I have a feeling we have only scratched the surface with him.
This book had it all, mystery, espionage, lies, betrayal, deceit, chemistry, interesting characters and a great plotline. You won't be disappointed.
See Me, the first book in the series by Anne Roman is an intriguing romantic suspense that will suck you right in. Roman developed intriguing characters and a new world to immerse yourself in with plenty of action, drama, lies, deceit, secrets and suspense.
Our FMC Hannah is a woman on a mission to find out the truth about her sisters death and she’s willing to do anything to find the answers she seeks, even if it’s working with the man she thinks was responsible for her demise to get the revenge she’s seeking—and pretending to be his girlfriend. However things don’t always go as planned—especially when things start to get to close, attraction builds, lines cross and secrets are revealed.
The chemistry and banter between Hannah and Simon was utter perfection and drew me right into the story alongside with them as they worked to find the answer they were looking for. Roman truly knows how to plot out a book full of deception and suspense that will take you on quite the ride!
If you love fast paced, intense, romantic suspense international spy stories with string and sexy agents with off the charts chemistry that are forced to work together on secret missions with a twist then this is the one for you!
Fantastic Start To A Spy & Espionage Romance Trilogy ❤️❤️
⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ Review
This is the first book I’ve read by Anne Roman and I am definitely looking forward to reading more. She truly knows how to write a book full of spies, espionage, lies, deceit and a ton of danger that will keep you on the edge of your seat desperate for more.
This is Hannah’s story and The man named Simon who she believes is responsible for her sisters death. She wants the truth and she wants revenge so when he proposes a deal she instantly takes it. Simon needs her to take her sisters place on the mission and be his girlfriend. The chemistry and attraction between these two are off the charts. You really must read their story and see just how intense this first book is for yourself.
Though this first in trilogy is slow burn there is still some heat between Hannah and Simon. It’s fast paced and intense. I seriously can’t wait to start book two and see where Anne takes us next with these two. Highly recommend this book and the trilogy!!
Wow… I wanted to like this book, but unfortunately I found more to dislike than to like about it. I felt so confused for the first 100 pages and keep in mind that the book barely breaks 200 pages (so my head was spinning for over half the book 🫣😅). The character work felt sloppy, there was no growth done by any of the characters (and I’ve read novellas with better character work tbh), the romance was unbelievable (in not the greatest way), the plot (if there even was one) was all over the place… so yeah, I really can’t think of anything that I particularly enjoyed.
Unfortunately I will be DNFing this series because I don’t feel it valuable to waste any more of my reading time and I don’t foresee myself picking up another Anne Roman book anytime soon 🫠.
If you do like cliffhangers, spicy books, fbi-agent/criminal romance, while there are so many other books that would satisfy those requirements in spades, this book may also be for you (just keep everything else above in mind as a warning)
This is my first time reading a book by this author and I couldn’t wait to get started after everything I have heard about it. This book is a fast pace romantic trilogy, but the first book is slow burn. This book has been done in MPOVS. Simon is the sexiest most infuriating man Hannah has ever met. To top it all off she thinks he killed her sister. But for hannah to get justice for her sister s murder she will have to work with Simon and get close to him as he has all the answers she seeks. The deal she took was to become her sister to take her place on his mission and be his girlfriend. This mission will take everything she has ever learn as an FBI agent to manoeuvre the dark underground world of illegal weapons assassins and spies. As every becoming to untangle Hannah is finding it harder to resist Simon. There is something about that call to her but if she gives into him she risks him breaking her heart. Loved this book can’t wait to read the next one.
‘ I looked over, her lips were parted, her eyes shining bright in the dim car interior and for a moment I thought I saw longing or desire reflected there. The same longing and desire that echoed inside my own soul. Then her eyes shuttered again, and she turned away to look out her window.’
In her debt book, See Me, Anne Roman has set us up for a romantic and suspense-filled adventure. Fortunately, this is book 1 of 3 in her Dangerous Entanglements series.
A quick read, the intricacies in this story of Hannah, an FBI agent, and Simon, a ‘ghost’ in the mercenary world, pull you into the story and do not allow their grip on you to loosen.
Not usually a ‘mystery’ reader, I thoroughly enjoyed the cat and mouse games between several of the main and supporting characters.
I haven't read anything in the romantic suspense genre lately, but Anne Roman knocked this one out of the park. It was a lower spice burn, and she is aware of that, seeming to hint book 2 and 3 will pick up. However, don't let a lower spice burn deter you. There is still sizzle and spark, but it is the drawn out and slow burn kind that leaves you wanting more. Aside from the spice, the plot was impeccable. You are riding Hannah's overall confusion and despair, with hints of the deeper plot from Simon, and the twists and turns as they clash together. This was written with a mind that appreciates the procedural crime thrillers, and the way you are led into a belief, only to question all you know by the end. The sinister underpinnings were a delicious taste of what's to come, and I can't wait.
I loved everything about this book! It ticked so many of my boxes. This story is so well crafted, honestly, it surpassed my expectations. I really enjoyed getting to know Hannah, and gosh, Sybil is so twisted. So much mystery to still unravel. Hannah is a great character (they all are!) but I like her persona as an FBI agent. I have a feeling there’s still a lot of messed up stuff that Hannah will uncover. I really like Simon, I have high hopes for him, and his crew - I love Rue! I’m looking forward to seeing more of their adventures. I’m curious how Hannah will proceed, and ofc Simon’s reactions to her. I love this possibility between these two, it is sizzling! If you’re looking for a unique mystery with twists, espionage, and betrayal, this is the book for you.
Welcome to a world of secrets, lies, espionage, danger, intrigue, deceit, a little bit of heat 😉...and sooooo many more crazy twists and turns. W O W what an amazing read indeed! Hannah and Simon drew me in instantly! I loved their chemistry- the snarky back and forth hiding thoughts they shouldn't be having 😉. I loved this world and all the layers of secrets within. Such a delicious treat! Get ready for one intense mindtrip, deception to a whole new level, and the start of one crazy suspense filled adventure!! I can't wait to see what's up next for Hannah and Si.
I like to read the occassional romantic thriller but often they can be a little predictable. This one however although I did see some of it coming there was a surprising and shocking twist towards the end. Hannah is an FBI agent and after her sisters brutal murder is approached by Simon who she believes is her sisters boyfriend to help catch her sisters killer. She agrees to help and embarks on a journey that reveals lies and betrayal of a magnitude she could have never perceived. A brilliantly written and well planned plotline keeps the reader hooked till the end and as I have discovered this is a trilogy I am excited to see where this will go next
This story has promise, with a little tweaking and some typo fixing this would be a solid 4 stars. Hannah is a Special Agent and her sister has been murdered. She learns that her sister lived a whole separate life and must pretend to be her to find out why she was killed. She also needs to find out who is jeopardizing her job and setting her up. Simon enlists her in a plan to become her sister and finish the mission. This has a lot of twists and turns that keep the story flowing. I enjoyed the connection that Simon and Hannah had. Just with the typos and some sentence issues I couldn’t give it more then 3.5 stars.
***4.5 stars*** Dangerous Entanglements series is off to a great start. Hannah is determined to find her sisters Sybil’s killer. She is sassy, strong and sure of herself. Hannah believes that Simon is the number one suspect. Simon is a mercenary that worked with Sybil and is a mystery. Their banter back and forth and chemistry is excellently written. As Simon and Hannah work together and the secrets blows her mind. The story had me on the edge of my seat trying to uncover the secrets, lies, twists and turns, betrayal, and murderer. Can’t wait to see what happens next after the cliffhanger ending.
I am normally not a fan of contemporary, but occasionally I make an exception and I am definitely happy I made the exception with this book. The combination of mystery, thriller, espionage, drama, and romance creates a potent, well-told story with a relatively naive heroine that grows into strength with each secret revealed and each betrayal realized. The chemistry between Simon and Hannah is undeniable, the relationships are complicated, and especially Sybil is a very interesting character in the game, same as the company Simon keeps. I am very much interested how the story will develop with the ending of book 1, and to see how Hannah will change under the circumstances.
Hannah is just waiting for someone to See Her, but her sister is taking the spotlight until she isn’t! As an FBI agent, Hannah knows when people are shady and when to take precautions. Simon - the Ghost - is ringing all of her bells. Also bells she does not want to be rung. A huge loss has her making rushed desisions and soon she is in a forigin country with poople who she does not fully trust. This ends on a slight cliffhanger, but I was off to book two withing minutes. I just binged both of them LOL It is an outstanding debut novel and I can’t wait to get the conclusion once the third and final book releases.
