Bowie is the first book of a new series by Jules Ford.
Get ready to meet the Speed Demons MC.
Welcome to Hambleton, Wyoming, where on the surface everything seems idyllic, but dark secrets threaten the town, and nobody is who they seem.
Bowie I was content being the Enforcer for the Speed Demons MC, while building custom cars at their auto shop, until one day, a girl walked into our bar and she blew my mind. I got spooked and screwed everything up. Now I’m out to prove I can be the man Layla needs. Layla Hardin and her daughter are mine to protect, but can I keep them safe from the threat that’s sweeping the town? Or will the pressure break us?
Layla Being a single mom the small town of Hambleton made me a social outcast. Then one day the man I had loved since I was a girl, finally saw me, and everything changed. Bowie says I should trust him, but can he give me everything that’s been taken from me? Or will the dark forces from my past tear us apart?
I have to admit, I found this a little tough at first. I wasn't really a fan of how Bowie treated Layla initially, but I eventually warmed up to him. ....... and now I feel pretty confident saying I've found another author to add to my favorites! With that being said, everyone, let's buckle up cause it's going to be a wild journey.
In this quaint Wyoming town, it's safe to say that this is just one of the numerous backstories, as everyone is familiar with one another and knows each other's affairs.
In recent years, young women from Hambleton and nearby towns have been showing up at the local ER, heavily drugged. The MC was working to uncover who was behind the crimes targeting these women.
Layla Hardin has called Hambleton her home since the day she was born. During her school years, she experienced neglect from her classmates, and as an adult, she faced ostracism for having a child out of wedlock. Branded as the town's promiscuous woman, she is far from fitting that label. She works hard to improve her circumstances, but opportunities appear limited
Gage ‘Bowie’ Stone is a blend of a thousand poor choices and a million heartbreaks, all combined to create one stunning biker. You see, Layla has had a crush on Bowie since her freshman year in high school. Sure, he was older, but he never paid her any attention as they drifted through the years.
Fast forward some years to when they are older and When she spends a night with the sexy enforcer of the Speed Demons MC Bowie,, she believes her fortunes have shifted, only to find he treats her like just another fleeting encounter.
Regrettably, when Bowie sensed a strong connection with Layla, he panicked because he hadn't moved on from a former relationship, causing him to act poorly and hurt Layla. Thankfully, he recognizes his wrongdoing and strives to rectify the situation with Layla, hoping for another chance... even enlisting the help of Layla's beautiful child.
Okay. I've tried reading this author twice but had to dnf her books both times. I've dnfed her previous book then this book was published and I thought I should give her another chance. But I had to dnf this one too.
Here are the reasons why I hated it so much:
1) Insta-love. The H literally told her he loves her in first two weeks.
2) The heroine's "throat was always burning with tears" in every chapter. She was a classic doormat.
3) Every male in this book was holding the back of his neck while pacing. I've never seen one male in my life doing that. Maybe it's an American thing idk.
4) The Hero was an okayish character but the heroine was extremely stupid doormat. I can tolerate doormats to some extent but stupid heroines? No. This guy who publicly disrespected her , harassed her, and insulted her - she went to him asking about was I drugged in your party? I mean how stupid are you, lady? You have a boyfriend who is in MC and who is handling this case you tell him and let him handle this. How stupid are you to go to the guy who harassed you thinking he will tell you the truth? And what she did then? She shut him (Hero) out. Literally acting like a bitch till he was shot and was dying in hospital. Then she was all sorry and guilty. ugghhh. By this point, I was done with this book but I still tried reading it. And by 80% in the book I was done. I really didn't care about the h or H or Robbie. They all can go to hell.
5) Heroine's bestfriend was equally stupid like her. And I think she is heroine in next book so I'll pass that one too even though I love cheating romance books.
What I liked about this book:
1) Freya! She was the only interesting character for me. And Atlas too. kind of. Maybe some day I'll read their books if the author plan on publishing them.
Now you maybe asking why are you so annoyed, Ms. Rainbow? It was just a book, right? The thing is I love MC romance books and I try to support new authors but working for 16-18 hours every single day for 6 days a week and still taking out time to read while compromising my sleep I think I am eligible to give a review If I didn't like it.
So, that's it. If anyone of you know new authors who write good MC books please mention them in the comments.
This one was comically bad and fine, at the same time!? Insane small town.. never read about such a mean bunch of stuck-up people.
She was such a sweet h, but also a weak character, since she accepted so much bullying from an entire town. Wild behavior of the town's people... judgemental as*holes. I hoped she'll get her revenge ... but nope, it didn't happen. I also hoped she'll make him work harder. Since he took such stupid decisions in the beginning. Did he redeemed himself by the end? Sure, he did.
I might try the next one, even though I know I might roll my eyes a lot. I'm curious if it has enough groveling for my liking 😂.
What to expect - 4 years age gap - MC setup - single mom, her daughter was adorable - instant everything, but he's got cold feet after their first night, and he messes up big time - he does grovel - no cheating! some slight OW drama, but he was not interested - drama drama drama in general, some TW - spicy, not overdone, the spice was fine - HEA
I wish I liked this more. I'm having trouble finding a good solid MC book, and this wasn't it. My biggest issue? The FMC Layla. I couldn't stand her. And when bad thoughts start in your head like not even caring if she kicked the bucket you know it's bad. She probably cried 95% of the book. Eye's glazed over with tears. A knot in her throat. Better get that checked out sis. She was the town trash, but nothing to really back up that claim other than she was a single mother. Really? Weak AF. Then she mopes and continues to mope without doing anything about it. Poor little old me got tiring real quick. She's one word. Pathetic. Not doormat. Pathetic. She was unfortunately TDTL and well. Not cute or endearing. None of these things the author could back up. And you know what? I liked Bowie. To be honest he deserved better, but unfortunately he was attracted to the damsel in distress created by her own weaknesses and not telling Bowie what happened to her in her past. Miscommunication at it's finest. Or more like zero communication. She made her daughter walk everywhere without asking for help. And I'm not talking about around the block. I'm talking miles. Miles! For a five year old. Seriously I was so frustrated and just couldn't wait for it to be over. I'm more interested in the other club members and their FMCs. But since this is a series you usually get an info dump setting the scene for the rest of the series to come, so I didn't want to skip the first book. Overall big disappointment. Sorry 😐
Bowie is the first book in a new MC series, The Speed Demons MC by Jules Ford and there was just so many things I loved about this book! The storyline was great and moved well, but the characters were really what hooked you. Layla was just so earnest and sweet. Even after being subjugated to the town's wrath for so long, she still tried her best for her daughter, with a smile on her face. I loved Bowie. Once he realized he screwed up, he was a man who wasn't afraid of groveling and making things right. I loved how he loved her daughter like his own. At it's core, Bowie was just a really cute read about how family isn't always about blood and I went away with a smile on my face thinking about the next book in the series with the little teaser that was given. Can't wait!
Layla Hardin has lived in Hambleton, Wyoming since the day she was born. She was ignored in school and when she became an adult she was shunned because she had a baby out of wedlock. Treated like the town whore, which was the polar opposite of who she was. She does her best but doesn't seem to get many breaks. When she has one night with Bowie, the enforcer of the Speed Demons MC she thinks her luck has changed, until he treats her like any other one-night stand.
Bowie know she made a mistake and when he realizes it, he is determined to fix it. Layla and her daughter's life is about to change and in only good ways. What happens though when Layla finds herself in danger though as a serial date rape drug keeps circulating around?
I really enjoyed this one. Small town narrowmindedness plays a big part in the story. I felt for Layla, she finds support in unexpected places. Bowie was terrific once he could admit his feelings. Definitely would read more in this series.
Layla and Bowie's characters were such a joy to read . I loved Layla's daughter Sunshine she was so adorable and fiesty she had me smiling a few times through our this book .
There's so much I want to say but I don't want to give away any spoilers. Aarrggg it's so hard to write reviews sometimes.
This book was a good read I loved the storyline and the way it all unfolded and how interconnected Layla was with Bowie's dad the president of the Speed Demons MC being her God Father . But after her dad died her mother had stopped him from having anything to do with her Bowie didn't know the connection until he stuffed up and hurt Layla in a way that broke her heart . She had been in love with him since she was 14 years old and had always carried a torch for him .
As a single parent myself, I could relate to Layla's character and how she was often ridiculed and spoken about by the people in her town . The way she was treated was horrendous but she always walked with her head held high.
When Bowie realised his mistake he knew had a lot of groveling to do but Layla didn't make it easy for him .
She'd already been through to much and she was to broken .
Cara was Layla's best friend and the only one she could count on unfortunately she was marrying a horrible man and Layla was concerned for Cara and so she should be.
Lots of twists and heart breaking secrets are revealed and soon Layla finds herself in danger at the hands of a psychopath .
I do have questions about other characters in this book that I hope will be answered in the second book otherwise it will have left major plot holes and that will just take away from the essence of the storyline.
But all in all I enjoyed reading this book and look forward to reading the next book in this series.

I was excited to get a new MC to fall in love with, by an author new to me. While I didn't love this one, I did like it.
Bowie and Layla have a history that is one sided (hers) and basic at best. The brotherhood is good, and expected. There's very little clubhouse roughness and women who hang around. The drama and danger for these characters is good, as is their chemistry.
Layla's character is constantly in trouble, needing so much help! While it was nice to see her ultimately get a HEA, I was frustrated to find out she could have (possibly) avoided her drama.
There is a lot of "you get me?" and similar standard biker language that got a bit much by the end of the book. I guess that’s most of why this is a three star...it's all a bit cliché for me.
Overall, this is entertaining read. I do recommend this read, I just wanted to like it more than I did.
😂😂😂😂 best banter ever “Atlas glanced over his shoulder, lookin’ me up and “down. “What the fuck are you wearin’?” he barked. Had he lost it? I was wearin’ the grey sweatpants that Layla liked with a white tee.” …… “Colt put his tablet on the table. “Did Layla tell you to wear them?” I looked at him like he was touched in the head. “No.” He shrugged. “It’s a thing. Woman like men in grey sweatpants ‘cause they’re revealing.” His voice was matter of fact. Heads whipped round to stare at him, everyone’s eyes bugging out. Dad looked at Colt and winced. “What the fuck?” he said at exactly the same time as Hendrix muttered. “Jesus Christ.” Colt shrugged. “Yeah. It was all over social media a year ago “ It’s their catnip.” “So. What you’re sayin’ is, bitches like men wearin’ grey sweatpants ‘cause they can see their shlongs?” Atlas asked, eyes still huge. Colt shrugged again. “Yep.” Atlas looked dazed. “Un-fuckin’-believable.” He cursed under his breath. Ice’s throat let out a whimper. Abe looked up at the ceiling again, and his shoulders began to shake. Dad glanced around the room, then crossed his arms in front of his chest. “Tellin’ ya now, if you assholes talked about sweatpants and dicks durin’ Church when Bandit was prez, he would’a shot you all in your goddamned heads. Now shut the fuck up. We got business to discuss.”
This story seems like it has potential. But unfortunately, THIS A WRITES CHEATING!!!! The two mains this book one don’t cheat, but there is slight OWD. But you get a LOT OF DETAILS about the cheating that takes place between Cara and Cash, the mains in book two. It is REAL cheating, you learn how she walked in on him actively you know whating with a club girl while they were IN a relationship. The characters in this book all acted like him cheating was no big deal and she should take him back. I did not come across a warning that this A writes cheating or that this series has cheating. So if you don’t want to read cheating, you might want to skip this series. Cause even though this couple doesn’t cheat, you have to read a lot about the next main couples cheating situation. Had I saw a note by the A that she writes cheating, I’d have skipped this series. The main couple of Layla and Bowie in this story were okay. She has a five year old daughter. And Bowie was in a previous relationship with a then pregnant girlfriend or fiancé. There was potential for this to be an in-depth and decent series, but I don’t think there was enough development and there is cheating. If you don’t mind cheating, then you might want to give this series a try.
I’m usually wary of MC books because the guys are always assholes and manwhores and there’s women drama galore but I was pleasantly surprised by this book. I loved both of the MCs. Even though Bowie was cocky he was possessive and really cared about Layla and Sunny. I loved that this was also an MC book with no cheating which is so hard to find these days. There was a great mixture of suspense and romance. The sex scenes were HOT!! I loved all of the secondary characters and I’m so excited to read the rest of the series.
Layla had crushed on Bowie since she was little, now they share one night together but then Bowie messed up big time has he just lost his chance forever? I loved Layla and Bowies character add her daughter Sunshine into the mix and its a heart warming story with emotions, heartbreak, desires, grovelling to the max and more! Well written the story captivates you from the start and holds your attention through out. I can't wait for Cara and Cash!
I could forgive a biker story that has the typical "save the girl," our-club-is-semi-legit, bikers-are robin hoods-who-fight-the-sinister-so-u-don't-have-to and give it a decent 3+ stars if the story is somewhat engrossing, I'm not skimming from 20% in, and the characterization is written well.
HOWEVER, in this one, I thought the characters were a bit stupid. They were put in serious situations and in serious conversations, but their reactions and decisions were either comical or too perfunctory to get me invested (insta-love and insta-coupling, sans development, didn't help either).
The only redeeming part of this plot is that the biker club guys spent time investigating and patrolling, trying to find out who has been targeting women in their town because the police were not getting it done. It is a sinister plot that is plausible, but the suspense is ruined by delay and obtuseness in the characters, as the culprit practically wears a neon sign.
I love layla! I mean I love Bowie too but Layla is my hero! How strong is she? I was a young mum at 18 and the stigma that followed me around because of it was devastating at the time! I really sympathised with this character and not ashamed to admit that this part of the story made me cry. It pulled the emotions out of me.
Bowie treating her the way he did after everything she had already been through was the icing on the cake for my emotions.
But I loved that he redeemed himself. I loved how he was with Layla and I adored how he was with sunshine.
I love the whole group of them!
There were no skimming pages, no eye-rolling at ridiculous monologue or internal thoughts.
I read this in one sitting because I couldn't put it down.
I know that Jules will be a continued author for me.
What a wonderful book, i just loved both Bowie (once he gets his head out of his ***, and as for Layla, she really is a beautiful soul, and really not a mean streak in her till the end. When Bowie and Layla met up at the Club, Layla thinks she is lucky as she has always liked Bowie, but then Bowie after one night sends her packing. Only to find out she is his fathers best friends daughter. Bowie has regreted the what he did, and now he has to try and fix it. Thing is though will Layla forgive him?
This was such a good story, it really is a bit emotional in parts and ones heart has to go out to Layla and all she has been though. On a lighter note though her little girl was such a delight and a pure joy to read about. Jules Ford has certainly captured my attention with this book and as such im looking forward to reading the others story.
After finishing a series I loved, I was worried starting a new one would miss the mark but I LOVED Bowie! I usually love when MCs are 1%ers and really raw and gritty, but I actually loved that the Speed Demons got rid of their 1%er patch and were softer while still being the protective, sexy bikers we love. I also loved the humour, the names they sometimes call each had me cracking up, especially Bowie’s dad, the club President.
I’m really excited to continue on with this series and get to know the other characters better because they’ve all made an impression on me already.
Good start to a new MC. Some of the side characters get a little confusing, but I think that will handle itself with more books.
The only thing I had trouble with was the overuse of commas. They were stuck in places that didn’t really need them. There are a few other issues, mostly typos and misspelled words, but on the whole it is readable and those issues don’t really interfere with understanding.
You're in for a real treat with this one! Layla and Bowie's story is such an emotional journey and absolutely fantastic! For Layla the attraction has been there since she was a teenager, Bowie was every girls good time. Years later these two find themselves together for a night and things get really interesting after that. This story is one wild ride and once I started reading I couldn't put it down. Can't wait for Cash and Cara's story.
1. Bowie was more worried about his father's punishment for his treatment of Layla than the fact he had treated a sweet woman like crap for no reason at all. 2. If an author is going to make a character drop their "g's", it should ONLY be done during their dialogue. 🙄 3. I hate a H who thinks the words "women" and "bitches" are interchangeable. 🤬 DNF

The story was ok-ish but I'm not a fan of insta-love, and "you're it baby" from the first sight/ $ex. But that would be fine, each story is different... but author needs to go back to school and learn where to put commas in the sentence. It was ambarassing at the beginning but now I'm just angry.
She is a huge doormat and weak and should be stronger for her daughter and not let everyone walk all over her. She just takes everybody’s crap and does not say or do anything to stand up for herself pathetic. What a dumb doormat
She gets drugged and r@aped and does absolutely nothing. Does not go to cops or hospital or report it nothing.
Overall I really enjoyed this! I loved that Bowie had to grovel for his second chance. This had some of my fav tropes too: motorcycle club, found family, single mom, etc! Good bit of angst and drama mixed in, too! Will likely check the others in the series out as well!
