Does your family read a book together for Advent every year? We did that a lot when our son was younger and all through the years. Seven Words of Christmas by Robert Morris would be a good book to read with the whole family through the Advent season.

Seven is a special number in the Bible. Pastor Morris says that the number seven signifies completeness or perfection. In Seven Words of Christmas, Pastor Morris says that God heralded His son into the world with seven unique prophetic words that still speak to us in our world today. Those words are: Salvation, Favor, Blessed, Guidance, Joy, Redemption and Peace. Throughout Seven Words of Christmas, Pastor Morris shares Scripture and stories around each of these seven words as he shares the story of Christmas.

I read through this book in a short amount of time and enjoyed it so much. Seven Words of Christmas brought the Christmas story to life for me today starting with the Scriptures in Luke as Zacharias and Elizabeth find out from Gabriel that they will give birth to John. He goes on through the whole story of Jesus' birth through Scripture. Yet, Pastor Morris brings out some things that I haven't really thought about before, at least for awhile. Each chapter gave me something new to think about and reflect on. I could also see where our family could have some good discussions after each reading of a chapter. The chapters are also a short length to hold everyone's attention span if someone is reading them out loud. I would recommend Seven Words of Christmas if you are looking for a new book for advent readings.

This isn't a big or long book, but it is interesting and has a lot of great content. As the description says, it focuses on seven words that have something to do with the Christmas story. It is set up to use as a 21-day devotional around Christmas time. Each of the seven words has 3 chapters titled "day 1, day 2", and so on. Each chapter is usually 5 pages, and doesn't take long to read. There are no Bible verses at the beginning of the chapter, but there are some spread throughout each chapter.

It is an easy book to read, very interesting, and is a great way to focus one's thoughts and attention on the true meaning of Christmas. I did enjoy reading the book, and may use it again close to Christmas.

Seven Words of Christmas is a small, easy-to-read-and-digest book that is perfect for use during Advent. In the book, Pastor Robert Morris goes through seven words of prophecy spoken around the time of Jesus' birth. Each word is broken up into three days' readings, and each reading takes maybe five minutes to complete - making this perfect for use as a devotional in the three weeks leading up to Christmas. But if you don't want to use it that way, you can also just read through it - it would only take an hour or two to read the whole thing.

Because this is a coffee table/gift-style book, I need to mention that it's really pretty! I love the way the pages are laid out and the touches of color. The one thing that isn't great is the divider pages. They look really pretty, but the font used for the Bible verse that goes with each word is printed in a very light font that's a little difficult to read, just because it's so light, printed on a darker (colored) background.

This is a book that I would definitely recommend as we head into the Christmas season - it will help cut through the hustle and bustle (although it might not be as crazy as normal this year!) and get your heart focused back on the true meaning of Christmas.

In Seven Words of Christmas, Robert Morris explored the power of the number seven in the Bible and how this number means completion and perfection. It took God seven days to create the world, seven golden lampstands, and seven bowls found in Revelations. There are also seven key prophetic words surrounding the greatest birth the world has ever heard of, the miraculous birth of Jesus. These included: salvation, favor, blessed, guidance, joy, redemption, and peace. The book also looked at the Christmas story of Jesus but he also included how Mary, Joseph, Zacharias, Elizabeth, Simeon, and Anna all fit into the story.

He begins the book by explaining the story of Elizabeth and Zacharias and how it led the story of salvation. They were an older couple who didn’t have any children and, in that time, and culture people could be judged. Back then women who was childless was viewed as less than and if their husband was to die before then they would be looked at as charity. They couldn’t own property or handle the money. One day, Gabriel appeared and told him that God heard his prayer and that they would have a son and he would be called, John. He would become a special forerunner to the Messiah who was to come. Zacharias explained to him that he was old and his wife couldn’t bear any children. Because he refused to believe the message that was spoken, he became mute until the words were fulfilled. Eventually, she conceived and had a child, named John. Robert explained how in that culture the child normally takes the name of his father and some of the people around them was confused by this dramatic change. Next, he also goes into detail about how Mary was told and how she would give birth to Jesus.

I would recommend this awesome Christmas devotional type book to anyone who is eager to learn more about this joyful birth of our Savior and how we can have hope of one day of being with Him forever. I immensely enjoyed how he connected other stories to Jesus and His birth and how prophecies were being fulfilled and how everything come together. I liked the 7 words he used to describe the story of Christmas and how the words can still change our lives. I loved how Robert included some personal stories from his own life and some of these were Christmas stories. I connected with the one Christmas that they couldn’t afford to buy their kids gifts and he explained to God how upset he was at Him. God helped to change his perceptive and how he instead found true joy. He shared how they relied on God’s leading and instead prayed over their children and asked God what spiritual gifts to empower over their children. This turned out to be the most important Christmas gift they ever received and remembered.

This is a beautifully-written book perfect for reading during Advent. There are 21 devotionals with seven sections. Each section focuses on 3 words and is broken up into 3 days per section. I read this book in one afternoon so as to write a review on it. The words described are as follows:

Salvation

Favor

Blessed

Guidance

Joy

Redemption

Peace

The book would also make a great gift. I plan to go back through it focusing on one devotional per day. The book is hardback and appears to be durable. The only thing I didn’t like and would love to see changed is that the Scripture verse for each section is difficult to read. The verse is very light on colorful paper (snowflakes falling) with a darker background. Even with my reading glasses on I had difficulty reading the verses.

The number seven holds great significance. God created our world and everything in it in seven days. He created a rainbow of seven colors. This number symbolizes unity, completion, and perfection, so, it’s no secret why this lovely inspiration book proclaims Seven Words of Christmas.

Salvation. Favor. Blessed. Guidance. Joy. Redemption. Peace.

I love everything Christmas. The significance, love, celebration, decorations, and treasured traditions. And meditating on prophecy and God’s promises goes hand in hand with the “Good News” season.

This advent devotional can be read in one sitting, or as it’s presented: in twenty-one daily installments. The devotions are meaningful, and the Scripture verses are timely and encouraging.

If you enjoy devotions and everything Christmas-y, like I do, I’ve no doubt you’ll savor every word of this book.

A Wonder Book to Celebrate Advent

Robert Morris has boiled the prophecies of Jesus Christ down to seven prophetic words: Salvation, favor, blessed, guidance, joy, redemption and peace. This beautiful well-designed gift book includes three devotional readings for each day combined with an attractive opening page for each word with a Bible verse. I loved the simple focus on the prophecies of the birth of Jesus and the reminders how these prophecies changed the world. As Morris writes in the introduction, “Is it any wonder God heralded the entry of His Son into the world with seven unique prophetic words??” (Page 5)

I loved the focus of SEVEN WORDS OF CHRISTMAS. Families can get this book and read through it every advent. I highly recommend this book.

As a child, I always wondered what Advent meant and why people made such a big deal about it. As an adult, I have since learned the meaning and tradition of it. Seven Word of Christmas is a perfect little book to read with your children and family during the Advent season.

Through Seven words of Christmas, the reader begins to understand why the number seven is special in the Bible. Not only do you understand the mean, you will also learn of the seven prophetic words of Christmas, which is something I never knew. These seven words invite the reader into a journey of the story of Christmas.

This book is a short read, with each chapter being small, but giving the reader something big to chew no matter their age or walk with the Lord. If you're looking for a new advent read this year, pick up your copy today. #sponsoredbyfaithwords

I received this book from a Goodreads giveaway. Although I did not read it during Christmas-time I rather enjoyed it. It is designed to be read at advent and is separated into small chapters. I read it in two sittings and found it follows the pattern of an expository sermon. I rather enjoyed the information as it was both biblically-based and interesting. Since one of my daughters is named Charis I especially enjoyed the Greek etymology that is included in the book.

If you are looking for something to add to your advent celebration or if you just want to expand upon your knowledge of the Christmas story this would be a great book for you.

Good book about the kindness, peace and joy (fruit of the spirit) associated with Christmas. The fruit of the spirit brought a woman with no credentials from a backwater village on the edge of the Roman Empire favor in the kingdom of God. Bob Morris discusses the importance of gratitude as well. Jesus, who was rejected by many people, exposed the hard hearts of the hateful, prideful and hypocritical. He showed us how much God loves people. "I bring you good news that will cause great joy for all the people." Luke 2:10 Christmas is a happy season.

This was a quick and easy read that was especially powerful during this Christmas season. Pastor Robert does a great job of explaining the seven words of Christmas. For me right now, I definitely resonated with the words “peace” and “joy.” I can promise you one of the words will also be just for you and whatever you are experiencing in life right now.
