A Kiss on Crimson Ranch by USA TODAY bestselling author Michelle Major
After a dead-end career in Hollywood, Sara Wellens plans to sell her half of the guest ranch she inherited in Crimson, Colorado. But when her property partner turns out to be handsome single dad Josh Travers, Sara is surprised at how quickly she bonds with the charming cowboy and his daughter.
I'm not one of those people who knew from birth she was destined to become a writer. I always loved to read and throughout my childhood I could usually be found with a book in my hands. To the disgust of my friends, I even enjoyed creative writing assignments that made them all groan. But I had other dreams besides writing. I wanted to be an actress or a teacher or a lawyer.
Life took a different turn for me, though, when my mother made me take a journalism elective in high school (thanks, Mom!). I knew the first day that this was where I belonged.
After I graduated from college in journalism, I took a job at the local daily newspaper and I reveled in the challenge and the diversity of it. One day I could be interviewing the latest country music star, the next day I was writing about local motorcycle gangs or interviewing an award-winning scientist.
Through it all -- through the natural progression of my career from reporter to editor -- I wrote stories in my head. Not just any stories, either, but romances, the kind of books I have devoured since junior high school, with tales about real people going through the trials and tribulations of life until they find deep and lasting love.
I had no idea how to put these people on paper, but knew I had to try -- their stories were too compelling for me to ignore. I sold my first book in 1995 and now, more than 30 books later, I've come to love everything about writing, from the click of the computer keys under my fingers to the "that's-it!" feeling I get when a story is flowing.
I write full-time now (well, as full-time as I can manage juggling my kids!) amid the raw beauty of the northern Utah mountains.
Even though I might not have dreamed of being a writer when I was younger, now I simply can't imagine my life any other way.

Two great stories under one cover by two amazingly talented authors.
Snowed in at the Ranch by RaeAnne Thayne is a story of one hot, steamy night between Katie Crosby and Peter Logan. Although their families are bitter enemies, Katie has had a crush on Peter since she was a chubby, shy teenager and he asked her to dance just as she was being bullied by the popular girls. Now as adult, she has transformed her image and even her family barely recognizes her so when Peter asks her to dance at the Bachelor Auction Fundraiser, she lives her dream for one night but soon learns there are consequences to their unbridled passion. Peter has searched for his mystery woman for the past three months but when he learns that she is the daughter of his family's enemy, his emotions are all over the place and he goes to confront her at her family's isolated ranch where she is staying alone. When a snowstorm strands the two together, secrets are revealed and feelings grow but can they overcome the family turmoil to have a life together. Great story filled with raw emotions and wonderful characters who are made for each other.
A Kiss on Crimson Ranch by Michelle Major is a story of Sara Wellens, a former child star who is trying to resurrect her career as well as repay her best friend the money that another friend lost causing her to lose her studio. Upon learning that she has inherited something from her grandmother, she travels to Crimson, Colorado only to learn that it is a ranch that she has inherited but there is also a handsome single father and his teenage daughter occupying the property. Josh Travers is a former rodeo rider whose career ended when his leg was crushed during a ride but is now trying to create a new life partnering Sara's grandmother in a guest ranch. When Sara announces she plans to sell, Josh asks her to wait until the end of the tourist season so that he can get a loan and she reluctantly agrees. As the two spend time together, old issues as well as Sara's narcissistic mother threaten the growing feelings and relationship that is building between them. This is a wonderful story filled with a range of emotions and struggles to overcome the past that each character faces.
This novella kicks off with a classic Thayne setup: a moment of vulnerability, a spark that shouldn’t have happened, and consequences no one expected. Katie Crosby, overwhelmed by invasive tabloid attention and a pregnancy she hasn’t processed yet, retreats to her family ranch hoping the world — especially Peter Logan — will forget. But Peter’s no coward, and when he arrives at the ranch demanding answers… Mother Nature traps them together under several feet of Wyoming snow. ❄️
What unfolds is tender, emotional, and beautifully character-driven. Peter’s reaction to the pregnancy is genuinely heartfelt — he wants to step up, be present, and rebuild trust. Katie’s guardedness makes sense, shaped by fear, scrutiny, and the weight of her choices. Their forced proximity gives them space to communicate, confront the hurt, and rediscover what drew them together in the first place.
It’s warm, atmospheric, and deeply romantic, with Thayne’s signature blend of snowy setting, emotional honesty, and small-town comfort.
A Kiss on Crimson Ranch — Michelle Major
Sara Wellens arrives in Crimson hoping to cut ties with her past and start fresh — emotionally and financially. She’s ready to sell her half of a guest ranch she inherited… until she meets her co-owner: handsome, steady single dad Josh Travers. His daughter immediately steals the show (and the reader’s heart), and the dynamic between Josh and Sara unfolds with surprising tenderness.
This novella shines through its themes of reinvention and belonging. Sara’s Hollywood burnout adds depth, while Josh’s grounded, gentle way of loving slowly softens the walls around her heart. Their connection feels natural, earned, and incredibly sweet.
The ranch setting adds charm, humor, and a touch of holiday coziness. It’s an uplifting, satisfying romance that complements the first story beautifully.
Book one: Katie Crosby has a one night wonderfulness with family enemy Peter Logan, but he doesn't recognize her. No wonder. She used to be overweight, dowdy, with thick glasses and no self esteem. But at the charity auction where they met, her transformation has changed her. And Peter is smitten with this anonymous girl he only knows as Celeste. But the night has consequences, an a paparazzi's photo leads Peter into hunting Katie down. And now, they are stuck in a snowstorm at her family's cabin in Wyoming. Good story, and probably part of a series on Katie's family.
Book 2: Kiss on Crimson Ranch - Sara Wellens is in Crimson, Colorado, to get her inheritance, which turns out to be a ranch on the cusp of becoming a vacation destination. And her grandmother's partner, Josh Travers, isn't interested in selling at this point. But Sara, a once child actress, is looking for a safe place. Can this be it?
Both authors have written great stories. Both are Christmas romances with good characters & great conversations. “Snowed In At The Ranch” is about someone not using her real name& then a pregnancy shows up! “A Kiss on CrimsonRanch” is about a former TV star who inherits her grandmother’s ranch. She meets the owner of the rest of the property & works with him to give him time in order to raise money to buy the house that has always been part of the ranch until Sara’s grandma died. A relationship starts with Josh, the ranch owner; and add to that a teenage daughter of Josh’s who he barely know but is now living with him! Definitely both books are great!
Two books in one from great authors. Snowed in at the Ranch & A Kiss on Crimson Ranch. RaeAnne Thayne takes her readers to a snowed in ranch with people who have secrets. One of the secrets is an unplanned pregnancy, how it is announced and the forever life they want. Michelle Major, author of the second great story, is filled with angst over a failed career as an actress, an inheritance that gets everyone's attention and a young girl who bonds with the actress in a mother/daughter way. Both books are great and made my reading over the holidays filled with smiles, laughs and a few tears. Thanks for a Merry Christmas.
RaeAnne Thayne is the reason I bought the book. She is always a "must read" for me, and this book was no excellent, as expected. I love her voice.
For the second book, I'm glad I kept reading even though I disliked the characters at the beginning of Michelle's book so much I almost closed the book to look for another one. Fortunately, it got better, and I couldn't stop reading, wanting to know what happened next with each of the many relationships the main character had--lover, mother, lover's daughter. It was intriguing.
RaeAnne Thayne is one of my favorite authors. She handles the relationship between Katie Crosby and Peter Logan perfectly. Their families are at war with each other but the chemistry between them is beyond incendiary. Great book.
Michelle Major is becoming one of my favorite authors. Sara Wells and Josh Travers have more emotional baggage than most people. Neither had a great childhood with Sara being a child star now a has been while Josh was a champion bull rider until an accident cost him his career.
The narrative definitely keeps you turning pages, especially with book one. Sheila is such a terrible mom, but it was wonderful to see how much Peter grows throughout the story to confront her and speak his truth about how he truly felt. It was uplifting to see how things workout for Katie in the end.
This review is for Snowed In at the Ranch. I started A Kiss on Crimson Ranch but couldn't get into it. I'd just finished one book with a malicious mother, so I didn’t want to read about another. I have several books of RT, and enjoyed them. I liked this one, too. Good enemies to lovers read.
My type of romance! Snowed in at your families ranch when the father of your unborn child shows up angrier than a bull. RaeAnne did a great job writing this romance. I cannot wait to read more of her books.
There are two stories in this book. I agree, kind of like a Harlequin romance, but still enjoyed main characters interactions and I heard RatAnn was a good author! Ire ommend this book! I am almost done second book, A Kiss at Crimson Ranch and it’s another great Harlequin story.
I have read a couple of RaeAnne Thaynes’ books and loved them. I saw this and thought it was a good bonus to have two books in one. Both stories were raunchy which was not what I got from RaeAnne’s other books books. Both stories themselves were good just not what I was expecting.
I have read many books by RaeAnne Thayne and enjoyed them... this one Not so much...as one reviewer said it was too raunchy for her... I felt the same way.
Great characters! Super stories. Loved both of these stories. Hard to put them down once you start reading. The characters are well developed in believable stories
Again, not one of my favorites by this author. Maybe I don’t like her Christmas books as much? This was fine. Quick read and I liked the characters but not a lot happened.
This book consists of two short novels. The first by RaeAnne Tayne was very good; the second, A Kiss on Crimson Ranch by Michelle Major was not as well written and was at times difficult to follow.
I only read "Snowed In at the Ranch" by RaeAnne Thayne so it's 3 stars for that title.
I am having real difficulty finding holiday romances I enjoy this year. I'm assuming this is because of my mood, but they all seem to be trying too hard. Though this is a reprint from long ago so it's not trying to be anything but sweet and short.
