MY NEW FAVORITE!!! Title: Alpha's Secret Series: Bad Boy Alphas Author: Renee Rose and Lee Savino Designation: Book 10 of Series, Full-Length(Approx 250 pages), Can Be Read As Standalone, No Cliffhanger #paranormalromance #bearshifter My Rating: Five Sexy Stars*****
Wow, I loved, loved, loved Alpha's Secret. I've been a diehard Renee Rose fan for years, so I had zero reservations about buying and trying a book co-written with Lee Savino, but I had no idea I would become so addicted to the Bad Boy Alpha Series. I'm the proud owner of all ten books(to date) in the Bad Boy Alpha Series and loved them all. But - yeah, yeah, there's always a but - I do believe Alpha's Secret may be my new favorite. This story just seemed to have so much more everything... more danger, more action, more suspense, more drama, more angst, more passion, more steam, and just more! lol... I adored the two protagonists, Grizz and Jordy, which I never thought I'd say. We met beautiful, sweet, kindhearted fox shifter Jordy in Alpha's Obsession, the second book of the series and, even though it was only a small part, I really liked her, and she was an absolute delight in this story. My heart literally ached for her. But, and there's that but again, I did not like fierce, gruff, growly bear shifter Grizz, at all, when he was introduced earlier in the series as a bouncer/fighter working for the pack at the Fight Club. Actually, I kinda hated him in the last book, but I can't tell you why. In the famous words of Dr. Who's Riversong - spoilers! lol... Anywho (see what I did there?), Grizz slowly grew on me and as his backstory was revealed, and my heart broke for him. But all it took was one sweet, beautiful, submissive fox to bring this growly, loner bear to heel. From their very first encounter, Grizz and Jordy sizzled together. It was so much fun watching Grizz try to deny his true feelings for Jordy and even more fun watching Jordy bait the big, bad bear. (And yes, I actually see characters in my mind as I'm reading. Doesn't everyone?) No spoilers from me, but I will say this... Fierce, angry bear shifter out for revenge-check! Beautiful fox shifter looking for safety-check! A crazy trio of shifters that reminded me of The Three Stooges-check! Danger, drama, angst, action, suspense, and malevolent enemies-check! Humor, sweet romance, steamy passion, and a whole lot of heart-you bet! That and a whole lot more!
Did I like this book? No, I loved it! It was smart, original, well written, and well crafted. Each of the books can be read as a standalone, but they're soooo much better when read sequentially. Would I recommend it? Absolutely, and I am but only for adults. It does contain some violence, explicit language and sex, and maybe even some spanking. After all, this is a Renee Rose and Lee Savino book. Enough said! lol... Will I read this author again? Yes! I can hardly wait for the next book in the series, Alpha's Prey. And finally, was I entertained? Completely! Fabulous entertainment and an awesome read!
Premise: Grizz, a bear shifter, is on a mysterious revenge mission when he comes across Jordy, a submissive fox shifter who is being mistreated by her master.
I enjoyed the ‘relationship’ part of the story (wounded bird FMC + protective MMC dynamic, with lots of caretaker vibes) but found the action B plot too busy for my liking. There were a lot of threads left unresolved (I’m guessing to set up the next couple of books), and the ending of this story was also a little abrupt.
Overall I did really like this book and found it very readable, but would have preferred a more streamlined B plot and more focus on the main couple.
I absolutely loved this shifter story. I have enjoyed every book in this series but this one was extra special. Grizz and Kit are both a little broken and the sweetness they find together has me smiling like a loon. Jam packed with growly goodness. Definitely recommend to my PNR book loving friends.
Renee Rose and Lee Savino are one impressive writing duo! Fast paced and thoroughly engaging, “Alpha’s Secret” is another excellent addition to the “Bad Boy Alpha’s Series”. “Alpha’s Secret” thrusts the protagonists on sweet journey toward love with a few twists along the way. Readers of the series will find the tone of this entry a bit different with a dominant hero who is not into the typical D/s relationship and an abused heroine who learns the true meaning of submission. The story unfolds to produce a fast-paced cohesive plot including various types of shifters, mysterious vampires and pure evil. With a multilayered story-line the plot engages readers interweaving a developing romance, intrigue, suspense, humor, betrayal, revenge and a bit of cage fighting. The main characters experience an intense chemistry with the relationship evolving throughout the story-line. Secondary characters are also outstanding, making entertaining contributions to the story framework and prior characters make brief appearances. Although part of a series “Alpha’s Secret” reads as a standalone story.

Grizz and Jordy's story was so good! He rescues her from her vampire Master when he realizes that she is his mate. Being a slave is all Jordy has known so when Grizz gets her out of her cage, she is confused. This was such a well written story and the layers of it were built very well. I loved how the relationship between them was handled. Out of the books in this series, this is my favorite so far.
I love the depth and range of emotions the two main characters are written with. This story touches me in so many ways. It's a mini version of a time in my life. Thank you Renee Rose and Lee Savino for this story.
What a fantastic book! I had to read it twice in a row. I felt the anxiety the letters caused thru out the whole story. The safety felt when surrounded by strong arms is palpable. I loved this story.
Grizz lives for revenge. Not the 'if you hit me, i'll hit you back 10 times harder' or 'an eye for an eye .... ' type of revenge. No. His is deeper, personal, and laser focused.
Working as a bouncer/security for the king of all vampires, moonlighting in a fight club, Grizz is labeled a traitor by the shifter world, betraying them by working with their sworn enemies, but Grizz has his reasons.
When Grizz witnesses a prey female submissive shifter being abused at the vamp club Toxic he works at, he does something he knows he shouldn't but is compelled by his inner bear to do. Steals her away.
Vampires are very territorial but shifters even more so. Grizz & Jordy might have met by chance but quickly come to realize their feelings for each other are worth fighting for to stay together. A fight that might be the spark to an all out vampire/shifter war.
* * *
Newest installment in the " Bad Boy Alpha" series that can be read as a stand alone. It is targeted to fans of contemporary BDSM paranormal erotic romance who appreciate a degree of mystery/suspense in their stories.
This story confused yet entertained me. Not sure if the reasons for my confusion are a consequence of the story being a collaboration effort or something else, but the overall story was disjointed and didn't flow in a cohesive manner. My feelings could also be a result of not having read some of the previous installments, losing out on information that might have been pertinent for this one.
The main characters. Grizz is that alpha apex predator biker character whose sole purpose in live was revenge. Nothing else mattered until a curve ball was thrown at him. Jordy. I did appreciate how these two interacted and moved toward being a couple. The interesting aspect, for me, was that Jordy was an experienced 24/7 submissive slave. Grizz was vanilla, despising the BDSM lifestyle in general. It was interesting to see the evolution of Grizz though I felt the BDSM scenes were little more than sugar kink quality, but we all gotta start somewhere right? 😉
Secondary characters. Three stooges. You'll only understand who these characters were if you read this story but if you do - they were stand out characters though problematic for me. I never really got to the analogy of feeling they deserved the three stooges persona. Yes, there were some parallel characteristics but ...
Frangelico. I see this character being featured in a future installment and like the potential for his story. 😁
Overall, while I appreciated and enjoyed the overall story, pockets of ambiguous scenes and disjointed flow were problematic but in the end a solid 3.5 that I'm rating as a 3 because of one pivotal portion of the story. Click on the following only if you realize it is spoiler pertinent though I kept it as non-specific as I could: .
Such an amazing read. This book is just about an alpha shifter losing himself in the hunt for revenge, well until he finds his woman, on the surface anyway. But, if you look a little deeper, you will see the transformation of this brave fox shifter who learns the true power of her submission and the beauty of making her choice. This story is a wonderful mix of the strength and violence of the shifters and the emotional connection between the characters. I love that we got to see the three stooges again and I especially enjoyed the HEA, although I was hoping for ultimate victory. Maybe we’ll get lucky and the authors will deliver the final blow in an upcoming book. I can hardly wait!
So many mixed feelings about this book. So much to appreciate about Grizz and Jordy and finding a new reason to live. The role of power however is not something I enjoy and it is layered throughout this book. The other struggle is it feels so incomplete, so many loose ends. I appreciate it is part of a series and there are overarching themes but their individual story does not feel complete and I’m suspicious it will not be completed. The first overarching, not sure if correct to call it that when it only arced over the first half of the series, was completed but we were left desperate for Nash’s story so found ourselves back in the Tucson pack, moved into a vampire war and I’m suspicious the ending is going to be a wide open abyss but the just in case we get a resolution will drive me to the end ETA: one thing I’m learning this year is that I really appreciate a book that helps me work out what I don’t like or inversely therefore what o do need in a book. In this book I believe in their HEA and truly understand their need to hide but for me it significantly diminishes the HEA when all they get is each other. I’ve realised I expect some new friends and or family to be gained as part of the HEA
When Grizz was first introduced to this series, I wasn't sure that I liked him. I mean, after all, he had sided with the vampires over the wolves. However, in this book my opinion of Grizz completely changed. When Grizz is around his little fox, he is a total teddy bear! This was a great addition to the series. Plus it had the trademark humor and romance that we've come to expect from the writing team of Renee Rose and Lee Savino.
This the story of Griz the Bear Shifter and Jordy the Fox Shifter and Jordy used to belong to one of the lesser Vampires until Griz came along and took her. I really love this story I was enjoying reading it until the climax, and then the authors really surprised me and I just loved it. This story has a great ending, but I won't tell you about it because you have to read it yourself. Lol
I really enjoyed this book. I was wondering what the authors would do with him after his betrayal in the last book. He has definitely redeemed himself. Grizz is a bear shifter working for the vampires at their BDSM club. He sees a pretty redheaded sub/shifter and he is drawn to her. Jordy is a fox shifter who was sold by her family. Her master is a vampire. Grizz steals her from the vampire when he sees the conditions she's living in. This is my favorite book by these authors. I loved watching Jordy tear down the walls to get to Grizz's heart.

This was a tough one to rate. There was a lot of stuff here that I took issue with, but a lot of stuff that I enjoyed, too. So, I guess I’ll start with what you need to know before you choose to read this one:
1. This is one of those shifter stories where the main character is a bear/biker/MMA fighter. That kind of thing usually annoys me. I mean, aren’t there any shifters with normal jobs? Do shifter plumbers and marketing managers not exist? But I let it slide because, hey, if I’m already suspending my disbelief to accept the fact that he’s a guy who shifts into a giant grizzly bear. Why can’t I accept that he’s also a biker/MMA fighter?
2. It’s a BDSM story in which the heroine is a 24/7 submissive. She likes to be “owned” and cared for. She’s FAR from what you’d call a strong heroine. Normally that’s a DNF for me. But with this heroine, Jordy, it almost works because she’s a fox shifter (a prey animal) who was raised believing she needed to be cared for. And, hey, if she likes a little pain with her pleasure, who am I to condemn her for it? (I will say that the BDSM elements here are pretty vanilla, so if you’re not a big reader of the BDSM erotica category, there’s nothing here that’ll traumatize you.)
3. The hero is an alpha male, but he’s not a dom, which I kind of liked. He struggled to understand why Jordy would want the things she wanted, but he did his best to give them to her.
4. This book is part of a series but reads just fine as a standalone.
5. Some of Grizz’s inner thoughts are cringe-inducing. Like when he mentions how “perfectly trained” Jordy is, and how it’d be nice to come home to a perfect little Stepford wife who greets him with a smile and blow job every day. But if you can tell your inner feminist to take a vacation, you can overlook it because even though he’s gruff and grumpy and blunt, he’s basically a good guy who wants to take care of Jordy.
6. There are some editing errors. Nothing so egregious that I was annoyed... but I noticed. Grammar Nazis might struggle with this one a bit.
So, even though I’m not a fan of BDSM story elements, weak heroines and alphahole heroes, I still found myself happily invested in Jordy and Grizz’s story. It was kind of weird that I read the whole thing and enjoyed it, frankly. I can only credit the great storytelling, I suppose. (And really, it WAS great storytelling and world-building.)
I will admit, though, that the ending is horrible. It’s not at all what I wanted and it was a super-weak cop-out, in my opinion. I won’t give anything away, but if you read this one, prepare to be annoyed by that ending. That dropped the book a whole star rating for me.
Long-story-short: if you’re a reader who can send your inner feminist on vacation and enjoy reading a little light BDSM action here and there, you could do worse than Alpha’s Secret.

Grizz, a bear and Jody a fox. Grizz is after the one eyed vampire who killed his mother. He's been hunting for 15 years. Jody was sold by her family and was an submissive to the vampire who was experimenting to create a shifter vampires and eventually overthrowing the vampire king. Grizz was disliked by the Tuson wolf pack when they found out that he was working with the vampire king. Grizz had a deal with the vampire king and was receiving the drink that would make shifters super strong and heal quickly.

Even though I like this book and I think that is a great addition to the Alphas series, I was a little disappointed with the loose ends and the abrupt ending; and how come Foxfire didn’t appear in the books? Jordy is her aunt! We (at least I) end book 4 wondering what happened to her. Hopefully, I will have some closure in future books.

Bad Boy Alphas, Book 10. Apex predators come in all shapes and sizes. Will this one prevail?
REVIEWER’S NOTE: While all the books in this series are standalones, it may be helpful to read book 9 (Alpha’s Bane) prior to reading this one. Book 9 is NOT a cliffhanger. And it’s not absolutely necessary to read it first. But I feel it provides backstory and context for one of this book’s main characters.
One, and only one, thing drives me! I am Grizz, a bear shifter, an apex predator. Who can stand against me? So why has my carefully plotted plan gone nowhere? Is there anyone, anything that can stop me? I’m starting to wonder. Then there SHE is. Can she really be bound to such evil? Why do I even care? Can this all be some sham to distract me? The last thing I need is distractions. But…but…I have to do something! Then—what? There’s more? My attention is splintered in so many directions. I can’t do this! Is this an unsolvable puzzle? One thing is very clear. I know what I want. The question is…can I have it and my ultimate goal too?
We finally get Grizz’s story, learn who he is, why he does what he does, learn his history. None of it’s pretty. Honestly? I was totally shocked when I learned the who, what, and why of Grizz’s life and actions. I’d never have guessed any of it. He’s a grumpy, grouchy bear shifter who can also be loving and charming, if he wants to be. But if you’re on his enemy list? Run for the hills! Jordy’s a whole other story. Timid, shy, even cowed at first, she can be a scamp and imp who gives Grizz a run for his money despite the dangers facing both. When she wants to, she can be a ray of sunshine. At times, these two are like oil and water. I don’t want to give away anything about this story so I’m not going to say anything about the supporting characters other than some appear in previous books, are old friends, and play very minor roles. Others are brand new and off the charts suave, charismatic, and terrifying. As with all Ms. Rose and Ms. Savino’s books, all the characters, both main and supporting, are well-developed. I really liked this book. But there was one thing that bothered me. That was the ending. I felt it was incomplete, rushed. It’s not a cliffhanger by any means. But, unlike the previous books in this series, the main characters don’t get clear resolution. I felt lost at the end. I still think it’s a good book. It’s just not the best in this series.
A final note. This is an ADULT book. It contains explicit language and sexual scenes. If you don't enjoy this genre, this may not be the book for you. Check the book blurbs and reviews available on Goodreads, BookBub, and Amazon. Please use them before buying this book. I did enjoy this book and would recommend it. I think you’ll like it too.
It took me a little bit of time to get into this, not because it wasn’t good, but because it was hard to read about Grizz and Jordy when I got two completely different perspectives of them in previous books. While I enjoyed understanding Grizz, and why he was so secretive (pun intended) as well as what his purpose is throughout this book, I had a hard time trusting him. I wanted him to find love, but at the same time I was worried he would toss Jordy aside and focus on his own gains and need for revenge. Also, I’m very protective of Garrett’s pack and I hated how the last book ended with their trust in Grizz. His betrayal was hard to forget about and it was always in the back of my mind because I thought he might do the same thing to Jordy. Plus, it was hard deciphering what side he was on. He seemed to have an alliance with the vampires, but didn’t even entertain the idea of getting back in the good graces of Garrett’s pack. At the same time, he seemed to have this hatred for the vampires too. I just couldn’t figure him out, even after he explained his reasoning. There was a lot of layers to Grizz and while normally I welcome this, for some reason I couldn’t get past my distrust of him. Then, when I think about Jordy, I wonder what happened to her from when we first meet her with Tank and Foxfire’s story. She was so different then, meek still, but was willing to break rules and state her opinion. You would have never guessed the situation that brings her back to the series and how Grizz finds her. When he decides he wants to keep her, she’s submissive, unsure of herself and talked as well as acted like she hasn’t been a part of society this whole time. To her credit, maybe she hasn’t been, but it was just a different side of her. I loved how emotional she was and the way she really felt and thought with her heart in this one. There wasn’t a ton of sexual action in this book, but it was just because Grizz was more worried about protecting her, rather than pleasuring her, but eventually he gets there, they always do. Lastly, the book just ended abruptly. One minute, he’s out for revenge and so close to getting it, only to stop himself from further seeking it once he sees the state of Jordy, which is romantic. However, it just felt like the authors wanted to end the story with no closure, and now the vampires are still out there and nobody is trying to stop them. It felt anticlimactic. Then, Jordy and Grizz go on the run, with not even a happy reunion with Foxfire. Overall, I liked this book but would have preferred more added to it so I could feel the closure. I guess that’s what Frangelico’s story will do two books from now.
Grizz, working with Frangelico…. Jordy had been submissive to Augustine who had not only used her for his own requirement whether sexual or as a “Sweetblood” feeding on her blood where the submission of her fox one of the lower shifters, those that are easy prey. Grizz. had not been able to leave her behind, locked in a cage for god knows how long until he decides to take her, his bear is so happy about this and both he and his bear go out of their way to keep her happy and safe whilst her continues his enquiries. Jordy has never known a real home or anyone that has wanted to care for her every need like Grizz, her fox like being around him as he makes her feel safe and cared for, as she explains more of her life as a slave to Augustine she begins to realise how poorly he treated her, made her and her fox weak by under feeding her and them feeding on her Sweetblood, but it soon becomes apparent so much more on actually going on. Frangelico has been using Grizz to discover what his sires are up to, what is the alternate club and auction actually trying to attain, a vampire child is a rare thing and to discover any betrayal is beyond his acceptance, he will discover the truth and then he will deal with the perpetrators, he will garner the truth from them even if he has to break every bone in their body. Just as Grizz thinks he has it all he receives that call!!! She’s been taken, she gave her safe up to safe his “Three Stooges” Parker, Declan and Laurie they had been so kind to her and she refused to let anyone else suffer for her. Grizz realises that he has been played and like a “Bear Out Of Hell” he races to get to his girl, his “Kit” his beautiful woman and desirable fox. This was a wonderful read the characters were absolutely riveting, the love and devotion and bravery of these two characters each with such terrible demons are able to fine love, security and happiness in each other’s arms….. There was also a clever twist in the Vampires and what they’ve been up to, Frangelico was wise to be wary about his children, his sires all corrupted, cruel and greedy the future retribution he will bring down on the organisers as though he was the devil himself…….. I voluntarily received and reviewed an Advanced Reader Copy I thoroughly enjoyed the book and look forward to reading any future publications; keep up all the great writing.
THANK GOD! This was much better than last one, pheeew… I was really worried there for a second.
I continue to absolutely hate the vampires in this series. Everything about them grosses me out. But it was a bit more tolerable in this book because the main character Grizz is in total agreement with me. From the first scene, looking around the vampire club in disgust, I was relieved. I still just wish the vampires could make their way out of the series already. They were a big part of the plot for 2 books in a row and I’m not liking it at all.
The couple was very sweet and well matched. Jordi needed someone to take care of her. It was sweet how gentle Grizz was with her. There were a few frustrating moments in the story. I hate when characters have development, then back slide. Grizz had a big moment of recognizing he loves Jordi and needs her… only to claim her then change his mind, tossing her away. One step forward, 2 steps back… He came to his senses eventually, but these kinds of moments are annoying because they seem to invalidate what we read before that.
I wasn’t a huge fan of Grizz being addicted to vampire blood. Though in the end, the blood was used as a plot device and his over reliance on it was dismissed and never talked about again. It was built up as a problematic addiction. I could understand that he needed it to fight the stronger, faster vampires. But he would swig it at every occasion that didn’t strictly require it, and even for his fights at the fight club which is tantamount to doping and I thought was really disappointing.
It was also a bummer that Foxfire and Tank NEVER appeared in the story despite their connection with Jordi and all the interactions they had with the Pack. I kept waiting for them to come up. The entire wolf pack didn’t shine at its best during this book. They were petty, antagonistic, and came across as thugs and bullies to our main characters.
Parker, Declan and Laurie continue to be loveable idiots and brought much needed levity to the story.
All in all, not my favourite of the series but a solid read that makes me hopeful for the rest of the series! I look forward to Shifter Ops because I’m pretty sure it has no vampires 🙂
I hate to only give three stars to a book I enjoyed and read largely in one sitting, but there were too many great plot point that got swept to the side at the end of the book.
I'll start by saying I liked Jordy even though she was naive about how poorly her master treated her, but I wanted to see her shift into her fox form. I don't really know what the point is of a shifter book if the shifter doesn't shift at least once, preferably more. Furthermore, while towards the beginning and middle of the book she talked about her fox's feelings and doings, that soon dropped to no mention of her fox at all. Meanwhile, Grizz only shifted once and for a short amount of time. Again, if I'm going to read a shifter book I want to see some shifts!!
Despite Jordy and Grizz growing closer and Grizz realizing he doesn't want to lose Jordy, he never tells her his real name. Even at the end there is no mention of him revealing his name to her, which would make sense if they are going to be together forever now.
The plot points that got thrown away in favor of RUNNING away were Grizz's three shifter friends, his deal with Frangelico, and the revenge he spent his adult years chasing after. It was sweet (and right) that he chose Jordy, but what about the fact that said revenge would keep Jordy safer?? I wanted him to go after his enemies because then he and Jordy wouldn't have to hide anymore. Instead they ran away to hide, and the world spinning on without them doesn't mean those enemies go away, so I'm disappointed Grizz didn't take the time to take care of them. And what happened to bringing down the shifter slaver ring? I guess he doesn't care about that anymore, either.
Lastly, you come to expect a certain amount of steamy scenes from Renee Rose, and none of those even happened until the second half of the book. I can appreciate a slow-burn, but if you're reading Renee Rose you're probably not looking for or expecting a slow-burn.

This is the 10th book in this sexy shifter romance series by two of my favorite authors, Renee Rose and Lee Savino, and I still can't get enough of these wonderful characters and action-packed story line. This story focuses on Grizz and Kit, but there are cameos of characters from the previous books and it really should be read in series order.
Grizz is just what he sounds like, a Bear-shifter, and Kit is the timid shy Fox. She is not a strong, fierce female in the traditional sense, but she is strong in her submission and understands her Fox's need to hide and be protected. I usually find myself more drawn to the stronger, take-no-crap females, but there was something in Kit's need to be protected and desire to please that made me fall in love with her. She is generous to a fault and not afraid to admit that she wants to be taken care of. Her ability to admit that so openly gave her a quiet strength that I really enjoyed. Grizz, on the other hand, isn't one who wants to take care of anyone. He is independent, growley, abrupt, secretive, and an outsider. His "Papa-bear" personality comes out when he sees Kit, and he can't help his need to keep her safe. Having the desire doesn't always make things possible, though, and there are a lot of things that could tear these two apart.
The pace of this one is perfect. The romance is both passionate and heartbreaking, and I felt like I was on an emotional roller-coaster from beginning to end. The danger that these two people are in the middle of kept me on the edge of my seat and my heart racing. My only complaint is that I wasn't ready for the story to end, but that's on me and not on the authors. I could have gotten lost in Grizz and Kit forever. I highly recommend this one to all readers who love steamy shifter romances. It will not disappoint!
