He also founded Big Biting Pig Productions, a movie production company known for unpredictable storytelling and for producing multiple award-winning, feature-length horror films with virtually no budget.
The Horror Quickies box set conveniently bundles all five volumes of Horror Quickies and features five times as many cryptids, ghosts, aliens, haunted houses, cursed objects, bloodthirsty killers, zombies, vampires, cults as a single volume (it's math!).
The stories are generally written as first-person accounts of scary encounters, which gives them a sort of campfire quality - it's the kind of story that allegedly happened to that cousin of a friend's sister-in-law's grandfather, or that is posted anonymously on the Internet. There is enough description to allow you to immerse yourself in the story and follow along with the narrator's reactions to their creepy adventures.
With the way the stories are crafted, they fall into several different types: many of them narrate a single event from multiple perspectives, and it's that other person's point of view that puts a twist on the tale. Quite a number of them have a touch of humor, which may either offer a respite from the chills, or intensify them. Sometimes the story focuses on a single place or object and several people's experiences centered around it, that then escalate from casual chills to a larger mystery.
There's quite a bit of creativity and variety, and a new spin on familiar tales and tropes that will appeal to horror fans.
If you want a quick read this series is for you. Kinda made me feel like the Twilight zone with horror in it. The stories a quick and if you have a busy life and love to read but don't have the time this is for you. No spoilers from me. 5 anthologies out of 5
Horror aficionados will enjoy reading the variety of stories in this box set. Each story is skillfully crafted. Here you will find otherworldly and human predators, creepy places and nightmare encounters which are gut wrenching and terrifying in the extreme. I enjoyed reading this box set immensely.
