Chaos threatens the world as the Breachers gain ascendancy. Extermination of the Servators is well under way and the remnant gathers at their final refuge, prepared to make a last stand.
A small hope remains as Leviticus searches the journals of the Levigators. If he can reclaim the knowledge of his predecessors he might prevent disaster — his power means nothing if he can't find the answers he seeks.
A storm is brewing and Leviticus must decide if he should take a desperate gamble.
Kallen Samuels lives in the Rocky Mountains of Canada with his wife of over 30 years. It’s the perfect place for contemplative and creative thought. Kallen is one of those people who has dialogue running through his head all day long. Apparently that’s not the case for everyone (there have been studies), who knew? Well, those internal conversations come in handy when writing a novel. Eventually, some of those thoughts found their way to the page, and here we are, three novels in and more on the way.
When he’s not reading or writing, Kallen is baking sourdough bread or tending his latest batch of wine. Now if only he could perfect the art of cheese making — he’d have all the staples of life close at hand.
(this is for the whole trilogy, not just this installment)
The overall story isn't a bad one, but the execution doesn't quite do it justice. Most main characters don't feel fully fleshed out. A different editor might have helped to produce a more compelling work. Not a terrible read overall, but could be much more than it is.
A common layout issue between all three: there are multiple spots in the text with unnecessary and illogical line breaks. A couple look like the intention was to avoid a widow or orphan at the end of a paragraph, but the vast majority clearly fail that metric. Doesn't bode well that for all the eyes on a text between author and printer that they weren't caught and corrected at any point.
This is the third and final book in a series. The first two books were excellent, and this one was as well. In my opinion, it came to a satisfying conclusion. Read for yourself!
