Angry nature spirits. Stubborn elite soldiers. A homeless girl is all that stands between them, but which side will she take?
Rika can talk to spirits. For her, it has always been natural, but most people can't see the many nature spirits inhabiting Europe's wild places. They're the ones behind wild weathers and natural disasters. To Rika, they're her friends.
Eight years ago, the police took her Mum and sent Rika to a youth home. Two months later, Rika escaped. She's been living on the streets of Berlin ever since, finding shelter from friendly bush dryads and warmth during long winter nights from fiery salamanders. But when she crosses the Erlking, a powerful storm sprite, Rika's only chance are the Spirit Seekers, elite soldiers in the war against nature. And her spirit friends' bitter enemies. To face the storm, Rika must pick a side and relinquish all hopes for peace.
If you like fast-paced adventure, action-packed urban fantasy with unique creatures, and secret societies, you'll love the Spirit Seekers. This series will take you on a supernatural sight-seeing tour around Europe. In this collection, you will find the complete series plus the prequel: Natural Selection.
I enjoyed the series. Lots of action and provocative thoughts. Relationships built and characters grew at a nice pace throughout the series. I really enjoyed some of the spirit characters. Their different personalities added a lot to the stories.
There were also a lot of editing errors. I found them distracting. I'm not sure if some of the pronoun "errors" were intentional or not. I was able to push past them to enjoy the reading, but it was occasionally challenging to do so.
This series is a refreshing take on nature spirits. I've heard of most of them, but there were a couple of new ones. Rika's journey takes us through a few different places & several harrowing mishaps. She gets herself invited to stay with a group of spirit seekers after she helps them during a fight, but she's not what they expect. She has very different ideas about how to deal with spirits, & it doesn't involve bashing them over the head with a stick! Rika works hard to change the mindset of some very obstinate characters, while also finally finding her place in the world. The characters are very well written, & the story is easy to get lost in. I was glad I got the boxed set so I could get straight to the next book. Definitely worth a read.
So on the money with todays concerns about climate change and it’s effects on our environment. With a rather exciting storyline surrounding Rika and her growing circle of friends of all kinds, I was drawn into this series and read it from beginning to end, all five books, hardly stopping between them! So different from the usual urban fantasy of vampires, wolves and other creatures of the night, this one highlights sylphs, nymphs (sp?) dryads and more of natures mythic delights!
Captivating right from the beginning. Brilliant storytelling well written keep me immersed in this series. Wonderfully detailed characters are embroiled in an extraordinary conspiracy who, have leads to incredible adventures. Just like in "real" life there are people and politicians who prefer fame and profits above a sustainable future for all life. This series is for anyone able to read and to think about what you can do personally. It is as much "fantasy" as it,is a wake-up call.
This was a great way to read the Spirit Seekers! 5 books in one, what a great deal! We start with Rika who has seen the nature spirits all her life as a Traveler and helping to save people who were under attack and ending with a found family of people and spirits. Her love/hate relationship with Wulf keeps you wondering how or if they will resolve their issues. All the different spirits were interesting and entertaining and make you think about what humans are doing to our world.
What a wonderful set of stories. All the characters are vivid and gritty. The plot flows smoothly and is fast paced. I am looking forward to seeing more from this writer.
This was a great series. Definitely brings to mind how we as a society have to change the way we live to preserve our planet. I loved how there was a strong correlation between increased spirit activity to global warming. I would love to see more of Rita’s story
I really enjoyed the magic in this series. The fact that it was just the real world, but a few people can see what the rest of us are blind to. I liked the theme that we need to protect nature, and the flawed, but (mostly) good-hearted characters.
I really enjoyed this series. The characters all had growth and the plot kept me guessing. I was drawn in the entire time and always looking forward to reading more. Get series!
I liked the climate and environmental references , but should have called it quits after 1 or 2 books. They became a little too similar and preachy for me. Nice to have European settings.
Wow! This was an exceptional series, well written with interesting and flawed characters, alongside an excitingly thrilling storyline. I loved every minute of it.
I will definitely be looking for further books by this talented author. I highly recommend.
