After another vicious attack against Silver and her people, Silver vows to bring Olympus to its knees.
In order to win the war against her greatest enemy, Silver will need to make alliances with people she doesn’t trust. But without them, she won’t succeed.
Can these new allies be trusted long enough for Olympus to fall? Or are they just as dangerous as the Elites?
Find out in the exciting 5th and final book of The Immortal Ones.

This book took me a little longer to finish than the others. I struggled for some reason to really get into it. Maybe I had Silver burnout :) Perhaps her story could have been told in less books? I don't know. It started to give me the feel of a soap opera and you just scream, can't something just go right for once, or can't they just have a minute to catch their breath.
Anyway, having said that, when I did finally get into the book, at around 40% or so (was it me or the book, I'll never know), I really enjoyed it. I love the character and world development in this book and the scary reality that this could actually happen.
Bittersweet moment, as yes, I will miss Silver and the rest of them, but perhaps it is better that her story has been told?
Thank you, Shade, for an exciting series and for the wonderful characters that you brought to life. To everyone who is still reading this review, if you haven't already, you should read Shade's Dark Sanctuary series.
Shade Owens is definitely a powerhouse fantasy/dystopian author that I will be reading a lot more of as this is the 9th book of hers that I have read and have enjoyed. So up there with my other favourite authors like Sarah Ashwood, Donna Augustine, Douglas Brown, Meg Collett, James Patterson, Alex Kava, Sarah Noffke, Dean Koontz and Stephen King in terms of books read by a single author. Shade, you are in illustrious company on my virtual bookshelf.
Wow! I’m sitting here composing my review and I can only say: Amazing!!! The conclusion to the Immortal Ones series was definitely worth the wait!
This final chapter in the series picks up right where book four left off. The action doesn’t let up until the very end. Silver tries to get the various factions to join forces to fight the Elites. She loses some friends and wants desperately to free everyone from Olympus’ control. Many believe that she is the one who can do it while others just think she’s going to make things worse. The final showdown at Olympus was full of surprises.
Through these five books, I like the growth of Silver’s character. When we first meet her, she is young, naive and unsure of herself. As the story progresses, Silver learns about herself and her world. From her first surprising decision to not take the serum to her final encounter with President Kane, she became a person her Grandma would approve and be proud of.

What a excellent finale to Shade Owens’ “The Immortal Ones” series! I have truly loved the character development and world building in these books.
In Risen, Book 5 of the series, Silver and her combined communities face their biggest challenge yet. The Elites have backed them into a corner and it’s do or die. New Elite secrets are discovered that make Silver realize that the only option left is to infiltrate Olympus, free the people of Lutum, and take the power away from the Elites once and for all.
Despite the overwhelming amount of hardships, lives lost, and overall bad luck Silver and the others in her community continually face, I felt that this book offered a good resolution and ending to the series. I highly recommend that you give this series a read if you are a fan of YA dystopian reads!
I received an advance digital review copy of this eBook for free from the author and BookSirens, and I am leaving this review voluntarily as a courtesy.
This is an absolutely brilliant 5th part to this well written & amazing dystopian, adventure series! This should be up there with the greats of fantasy writing! Superb ideas, so well done! A whirl wind adventure that almost feels sad that it has come to the end! I do strongly recommend this series & all of this writers works! You will not be disappointed!
I don’t typically write reviews, but I’m still mad that I read this whole series only to get to that ending.
That ending was ridiculous, a weird cop-out. It created so many plot holes and just honestly ruined the entire thing.
This series was a great dystopian novel that mixed some Hunger Games and Divergent in with some new themes.
Now will come some spoilers …..

It makes absolutely no sense to have the breeders with these people already had children prior to taking the serum. 50 years. 50 YEARS was all this island existed for these elites?? Her grandmother snuck over after her mother went? How old is her mother, it really makes zero sense. How in 50 years did they decide they needed these slaves when they could live forever and be good to go. Her grandmother knew they came over to the island, why not just sneak her granddaughter back out. She acts like her grandmother was a small child when things “changed” but she was a middle aged woman who knew what was happening. There are so many more holes and I’m still mad I spent so many hours reading this great series only to have it ruined in the last 1/4 of the final book.
I probably won’t ever read another book by this author.
This book landed the series in my favorites pile. Don’t get me wrong it was already slated to end up there or nearby, but the ending was beautiful, and it stuck the landing. I was legitimately gobsmacked by the turn of events and it was exquisite. Though I read these books through kindle unlimited I will be immediately purchasing them and any other completed series written by Shade Owens, I was that impressed.
Our Silver girl is all grown up. Despite the setbacks and lives lost throughout this adventure we’ve shared with her, she has managed to unite several different factions or communities with one goal: bring down Olympus. The ride is action packed and justice is swift.
As an aside I want to note how pleasant it is to see characters grow and apologize, learn to correct their thinking, see things from the others’ perspectives, etc. I have noticed it is becoming a more popular thing with more recent books, and the authors who do this impress me every time. We never got to see Harry Potter and his friends get the therapy they so needed, but Silver and hers will, and I think it’s beautiful.
Risen The Immortal Ones #4 Dystopian Shade Owens ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
This book was a great conclusion to the series, I loved every minute of it.
The pacing was just right, I was kept engaged and the slow reveal of information kept me curious right until the end. I couldn't put it down and I finished reading in about 5 hours.
It was great to see Silver step into a leading role and guide everyone. They finally made it back to Olympus but their fight for justice wasn't smooth sailing or straightforward.
I liked all of the action and the deals that were made along the way with the other tribes and people.
There were twists that I didn't see coming and most of my questions from the previous book were answered but I would still like to know more about the invisible wall, the Sacred Contract and life after the rescue.
Overall, I really enjoyed reading this series and I will definitely be checking out some other books by this author.
This is a great series and I would recommend it to anyone. My only complaint is the amount of inconsistencies in the story.
Like why is Rose suddenly deaf in the last book and needs to read lips? She only couldn’t speak due to her tongue being cut out in the first four books, with zero mention of ever having hearing issues.
Lyson never tried kissing Silver. He only told her she was pretty, but later in the story it’s stated a few times that he tried to kiss her?
And suddenly Lyson’s sister had issues with Silver and acted like she didn’t like her? It was a totally friendly and welcome introduction with the two characters, then out of nowhere “she never did seem to like me”. Like what?
Also why does James’ need for sunglasses go from social anxiety, to light sensitivity, back to social anxiety?
All minor inconsistencies that ultimately don’t matter to the story, so I didn’t let it reflect on my review, but they still annoyed me.

Emotional, heartbreaking, powerful and mesmerizing. I read all 5 books in 5 days be because when I finished 1 I could not wait to get ti the next. Every word, every paragraph moved me. The characters were diverse and interesting. Gives you a lot to think about. Would you want to live forever? Would life become monotonous with you wishing it would end. I believe life is a cycle, you are born then experience different life stages and accomplish goals you set for yourself because you have 70 to 90years to accomplish them, if you’re lucky. It’s exciting because you just don’t know. Hopefully you experience family and the pleasure or pain they bring, you feel life evolve then eventually it comes to and end. This book had many horrors but it also made you feel true joy and love. THIS BOOK IS A MUST READ!
The final book. We are FINALLY headed back to the start of this series. Let's go to WAR!!
This story line DID NOT go the way I thought it would. But how clever! May have read this book at a slower pace than the other four, but not sure if that is due to knowing this was the last book or if it was the plot. The back and forth with the vehicles and people was a bit much.
Not a fan of the quick betrayal at the end between Jared and Finn. I don't think it was needed. But also just goes to show the difference between revenge and want for justice.
Female-female love interest continues but stays tasteful throughout the series IMO for anyone who would like a warning about that. It is YA writing after all.
Overall a great dystopian series. I have recommended this series to others!

Risen is Book 5 in the Immortal Ones Series by Shade Owens. WOW!!This book was fantastic--amazing--fabulous ending to a wonderful series. Risen is everything great that can happen in an ending to a series. The characters that have traveled through all 5 books are back again. I can't say anything about the ending because it would spoil the story, but, oh my goodness, I was blown away! The ending was a complete surprise and Shade Owens has written the best series. I am not sure she can top this series, but I can't wait to read what she writes next.I received an arc for free and am leaving my review voluntarily.
As I got to the end of the series, I thought of all the things I’d like closure on and every one of them were checked off. I couldn’t think of any loose ends at all. It has definitely been an action packed adventure with Silver and I’m sorry to see it end. I feel like there is still potential for another book about returning to Ortus or remaining where they ended up and how things went. I enjoyed the growth of each character, the friendships built and the excellent job of world building. I received a free ARC and leave this review freely.
The story through the books led one to believe the ending would culminate in closure. It did this but left so many loose ends:( Who was new America? What was the contract? How was the serum developed? Why were all the people on the island? Who decided what people would go and what about the other districts…how many, who were those, how’d they get there? What was the invisible dome and how was it placed over the island?
another great entry in the Immortal Ones series, it did what I enjoyed from the previous books and from the author's writing style. The characters does what I was hoping for and I was glad I was able continue this series.

The overall series wrapped up better than I was expecting. The break between the last book and this one coming out (about two months) for me made me lose momentum for the story. It definitely felt like the characters running around trying to wrap up the story. I think if this whole series had been three books instead of five it would have been better.
When I first began this series I didn’t have the highest of hopes. Yet the story and world grew on me. This last book was quite satisfying and put a smile on my face. One thing I can definitely say is that with this author, you never knew where you were going. A lot of good world building and character development.
It's good enough to read the whole series! Despite a few repeat phrases, and the the text sometimes comes across like written for a young child. With all the drama and surprises I did expect a more ending,. It felt kind of silly that everyone suddenly became friends
This series is ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ hands down. Each book leaves you on a cliff hanger wanting to instantly be able to jump into the next book and find out what will happen. The ending was so unexpected, you constantly are kept on your toes and wanting more. I read all 5 books in 3 days because I couldn’t put them down!!
I absolutely hate when authors divide a book up into a whole bunch of little ones. This series should have been one book instead of 5. The series itself was good and worth the read.
I've loved every book of Shade Owens that I've read and this last book of The Immortal One's was absolutely worth the read. I was kept in suspense and on the edge of my seat at all times. Well done at delivering another great book!
An interesting series with lots of twists and turns. I do wish there had been a warning about lgbtq relationships as I don’t generally enjoy reading those. This just had a kiss or 2 so not too bad to stop reading.
Plot through out was enough to keep me reading until the end, but probably won’t read this author’s work again. I realize fictional, but how many homosexuals does one book need.
From start to finish best dystopian series I’ve read!
You’ll lose sleep because once you start reading you will not want to stop. Amazing storyline with great characters..just buy the books you will not regret it.
I absolutely loved this series. The build of worlds and characters was really well done! When I finished one book I HAD to start the next. I'll definitely be checking out other books written by Shade Owens.
I really enjoyed this book, and this series! There were a few things that I didn't feel were fully wrapped up by the end, but overall it was an enjoyable read.
This is a great series to read. Twist and turns all throughout the story will keep you interested. Loved the epilogue. That was the best chapter of all.
