A college summer romance gone awry leaves the full-figured beauty, Katrice Kellom, with a shattered heart. Love is no longer a priority as she takes a deep dive into her career as a news reporter with hopes of moving up the ladder. Unfortunately, despite her success, her looks once again prove to be the reason she feels overlooked.
Six time NBA Finals Champion, Deon “Ace” Farrington, is faced with a challenge in his career after an injury. While his future in basketball seems bleak, an invite to a speaking engagement may prove to be worthwhile for his career and love life, especially one that Katrice is slated to attend.
Emotions are high and all eyes on are the college sweethearts who are at a crossroad in their lives. While under pressure yet again, will Deon fold and deny his love for the only woman to have owned his heart, or will he fight for her love?
I'm always a fan of a second chance trope, but I needed more from this couple. Deon had been in a relationship with Farrah for the past 6 years, but they were not on the same page when it came to their future. Deon wanted a family and Farrah was all about her career. Once he was injured it seemed like he was forced to really take a look at their reality. He loved Farrah, but they lacked passion and honestly she didn't seem to really love him at all. It was more about how his high profile name could help her business. I really didn't understand what he saw in her. Once his eyes were open and Kat, his first love was back on his radar all his effort shifted to her. It didn't really feel that authentic to me, because he really hadn't been thinking about that at all. I digress though. Kat was still heartbroken over the way things ended 14 yrs ago with Deon. They seemed to have been perfect for each other, but he was childish and didn't handle her with care. She had yet to fully move on. She was more than aware of what he was doing, but knowing she might see him soon sparked her curios even more. When they finally reunite its s mess, but as things unfold he professes he never stopped loving her. It's so easy for her to accept his apology. It was like 0 to 60 and to me I felt there needed to be more time spent on them as a couple, renewing their bond, and allowing us to feel the love between them. Unfortunately that wasn't fully realized, but I liked the characters.
Second chance love can take you through it. The history with Kat and Ace is not hard to overcome. I enjoyed reading about their first chance. Kay’s insecurities escalated the situation and she ran before he could correct his error. I don’t understand how they went through school without discussing it. The reunion was cool, I enjoyed Ace’s mission to right his wrong. Good easy read.
Ms. Andrews, it has been a minute since you dropped a masterpiece however you "brought it." Ace and Kat came all the way through. You know you had me at BBW, I am always rooting for them. I am "all things" BBW. The cameos from the "Black Plastics," Deuce, Misty, Prime, Swoon, and Dr. C did not go unnoticed as well.
Deon "Ace" Farrington proved that "the heart wants what the heart needs." His love for Kat ran so deep he couldn't ever properly love Farrah. Farrah was selfish and just about her bag. She did everything in her power to get it. I was glad when she did do Ace wrong because that was his opportunity. He finally had the chance to win back the heart of the woman he loved all those years. And this time around he made sure to care for her holistically. He encased her heart and made sure the world knew they were a couple. I love how he was willing to do anything to make sure Kat was taken care of. Her hospital stay, getting a special boot made for her ankle, and publically putting their relationship on display at the college reunion were how hard he was going for his baby. Ace loved Kat wholeheartedly and it was great to read it. Ms. Andrews feel free to give us the wedding of these two. I get the feeling it would be epic.
This is a fantastic read that makes you fall in love with second chances. Second chance loves happens for a reason. Ms. Andrews I still hoping that Duece and Mallory get to share their story. I would also love to read Antwan and Hunter's as well. To see how Antwan was already humbling Hunter was quite interesting. If you have not had a chance to indulge in a Ms. Andrews masterpiece, here is your opportunity. You will love Ace and Kat. They have a lot to share and teach you that everyone deserves a second chance, especially in love.
This couple seemed forced. Deon was so possessive and I hate that. Deon had no right to pop up on Kat and act like he owned her. No no no this was not it 🤦🏾♀️
Positives: I thought the book was pretty well written and I liked the female main character. I’m a sucker for a thick character who knows she’s fine even if she has some insecurities (which everyone has some so it’s understandable).
I think the book would have benefited from another 50-100 pages. The majority of the book is spent on the two MC’s separately. When they finally reunite it seems to go quickly and lack authenticity. Some of this is because Deon seems to only move back to Kat when Farrah starts moving weird and then he leaves. But honestly their relationship had been stale for a while so he was just going through the motions.
Kat seems broken hearted but she allows Deon back in waaaayyy to quickly considering how hurt she is. It seems like she lets him sweet talk her and get into her pants before they really start hashing it out. He kind of starts moving into her life right away. I think what throws me off the most was how possessive and slightly controlling he was when he just showed back up. Like he barely even apologized yet.

Second chance at love is one of my favorite tropes and I loved Deon and Katrice's story. The backstory of their relationship added a great dimension to their reunion. Katrice was still hurting from what happened between Deon and herself. Deon knew who he wanted once he came to his senses and he didn't let anyone get in his way. Their reunion was very emotional and packed full of love and passion. Great job Ms. Andrews!!!
Good read. I would give it more than a three, but not quite a 4. I really liked Deon and Kat. I even loved the nickname Kit Kat. I thought it was cute. My only thing was that I wish the book were a bit longer. I wanted to see Deon slowly earn her trust and love back and what that would have looked like. I wanted the epilogue to be them further in the future. This was my first book by this author. I will definitely be reading more from her!
I really enjoyed Ace and Kit Kat🥰!! I just hate they wasted so much time on a young dumb stupid mistake😡. When I found out Farrah was not in with Grams I knew she was not the one. I am glad the make up was not tooo long and drawn out. The other characters were also funny and enjoyable to read about as well! Great job 👏🏽 👍🏽⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
Ace wasn't playing any games when it came back to getting Katrice back!! I loved how he didn't try to play both women but ended his relationship or lack of one with his previous girl before going full force on getting his one true love back.
I liked this book, so real being a beautiful thick woman, sometime we are not appreciated because we are not society's definition of beautiful, but you better recognize, we don't have to pay for our beauty or our bodies. Just saying, liked how this was written and ended.
Loved Ace and Katrice love story Their love spanned 14 years even though they were not together Tisha did a great job writing a wonderful story of a second chance at love and with a great supporting cast of characters She made them relatable and a story line that was realistic Great job Tisha Hope to see a story about Antwan and Hunter
I loved how Ace realized loving Kat should not be hidden from the world but celebrated out loud! Stephen was a bit much but I guess it was only a bff type relationship! Hunter was hilarious! Farrah a whole trip! In the end even though it took 14 years they finally got it right! Loved it!
As young adults we make some silly mistakes. I’m so happy the Deon realized his mistake and was ready to do anything to apologize and make things right.
Trice definitely needed to give him a little bit of a hard time so he fully understood that she wasn’t going to stand for it again. But I loved how she forgives him and made room for their new life together.
I really enjoyed this book. Deon was bae for sure, I get why Kat was so mad at him, but if she wouldn’t have disappeared then he would have had a chance to make things right. So much time was wasted but they got it together..
Amazing ❤👏🏾 from beginning to end their love story takes you on a journey how it all started this was so beautiful 😍loved this couple so much well written ❤you can feel the emotions from both of them yessss Tisha Andrews did her thing ❤ simply amazing 👏🏾
Farrah had to go. Ace was not letting the fourteen year separation from Kat change anything he was her MAN regardless right when he seen her … chile at the doctors office he was BOLD you would have never known they haven’t seen each other in a while.
I love love love a good love story. I'm glad Deon and his Kit Kat got back on track. I didn't like Stephen at all, I really believed he wanted Kat. Farrah was on some bull trying to play over Deon's career. I would love to hear more from them
Now I'm wondering if Farrah would of gave Deon a Family and Marriage would he would of still felt the same way for Katrice? You could tell it was genuine Love on Katrice behalf. I just felt like she was Deon second choice!!
I didn't like how quickly she forgave him but that was me looool besides how possessive he was over here which I didn't care for. It was an okay read. I'll try another book from author
Good story. I enjoyed it. I'm glad Deon ended the relationship with the the other woman and got back with his true love. I hope that there will be a part 2 for their story or at least for Kat's best friend.
This was a good read Deon and Kattice were meant for each other but he worried what others thought so he broke her heart but as they say you never miss your water til your well runs dry but he got it right I’m still trying to understand Stephan
This was good. Ace and Kit Kat forever. Farrah was a weirdo- like what was your plan? Have your dude and side dude on the same team? Smashing them both?
I feel kinda bad for Stephen, hope he find a love.
Hunt and Twan- 🍵!!!
