Her conjury was out of reach. But when she’s flooded with strength, can she survive becoming a target?

Tuesday Larson thought she’d settled for normal. A disappointment to her mother for never taking well to magic, she deliberately put distance between her family and any witchery. But the supernatural destroys her barriers when a group of mercenaries tears through her home looking for blood.

Escaping with her cat-sized dragon to find her coven under attack, Tuesday’s stunned when a hunky wolf shifter saves her from an elf abductor. But when she ends up at a quirky hotel that unleashes her abilities, she’s shocked to learn she’s part of a race that’s being hunted to extinction.

Finally graced with formidable powers, will she outlive the shift?

Cursed Witch is the wild fourth book in the Creatures of the Otherworld urban fantasy series. If you like fast-paced action, unlikely romance, and spellbinding surprises, then you’ll love Brogan Thomas’s dimension of the unthinkable.

Brogan lives in Ireland with her husband and their eleven furry children: five furry minions of darkness (aka the cats), four hellhounds (the dogs), and two traditional unicorns (fat, hairy Irish cobs).

In 2019 she embraced her craziness by writing about the imaginary people that live in her head. Her first love is her husband followed by her number-one favourite furry child Bob the cob, then reading. When not reading or writing, she can be found knee-deep in horse poo and fur while blissfully ignoring all adult responsibilities.

2.5 stars. I read this book for the sake of the others in the series that I absolutely loved. However I did not love this book. I didn't even like this book

Correction. I absolutely love the book in the beginning, until 20% in where the heroine becomes all powerful.

I was so excited for the start of this book. We get to finally see Nanny hound and his love interest. I love Owen! I wanted him to have a great love story. But the love story pretty much goes from strangers to "I love you" in two days. The heroine goes from magical dud to all powerful god of her a world in 10 minutes.

This book is really disappointing so much! There was a great set up and the author just poked a balloon and everything.

There is so much drama that gets resolved in a minute. The author pretty much throws out the entire world building in this one. Anything that was interesting as part of the fantasy world doesn't matter because the heroine is God like in her own pocket dimension. It was so boring.

I would highly recommend skipping this book and going straight to "rebel unicorn". I actually I'm glad that I read that first so I knew how much I would like it because this book was so bad I probably would never read anything else by this author again.

Six stars. I couldn't put it down honestly it needs a warning do not start this book before you go to bed. These books just get better and better, who knew a standalone book could pack such a punch and the author keeps doing it!. This story blew me away and I'm so shocked how much I loved it. Which I shouldn't be. All I know is I'm going to be in a book funk for a while because it's going to take a very special book to top this one. This had me laughing, crying. Oh my God the crying! I think I squealed and I fist pumped a few times too. I read a lot, like it's all I do and this book will stay with me for a very long time. I'm so lucky I managed to get arc copy and this review is my honest option blah blah. Anyway this is an epic book.

Cursed Witch is book four in the Creatures of the Otherworld series by Brogan Thomas. It is a stand-alone Urban Fantasy read, so you do not have to read the series in order to read this one.

I had read a fun excerpt for this story which made me look at this book and read the blurb, so I figured I'd give it a go; especially since its in KU. It had potential, but soon became bogged down with issues and repetitiveness.

Our heroine, Tuesday, irritated me quickly. She's a Manager or was of a Retail Store, with lots of people working for her, and she's a problem solver extraordinaire. Dear god none of that came across. She can't manage her life. She lets her mother walk all over her. Verbal and emotional abuse from the mom, so in her personal life she runs and wallows. She acted like a teenager, stumbling and muddling through. She self doubts herself at every turn and when the obvious is in her face, she doesn't ask the questions or solve the problems. And, since this novel is about her discovering her true potential; well she just killed this novel.

I did enjoy her dragonete friend. Very adorable.

Cursed Witch was not the book for me. If the blurb intrigues you, I urge you to give it a shot. Just because it did not work for me does not mean it won’t for you. I'm not sure if I'll try any of the other stories in this series. We will see.

Was expecting something like the Innkeeper by Ilona Andrews, but the only resemblance was the "magic hotel" idea...
The h family was horrible... I don't know who was worse, the mother with all that entitlement or the father being passive seeing her daughter being bullied by her own mother...

The h is also a hole lot of nothing, she was annoying, whinny and a real hot mess stumbling, mumbling...
The relations between the MC goes from hi to I love, in a snap and the idea of mates is trowed around especially after the "final event"...

Didn't click with the writing, so other books by this author are a pass...

My Thoughts:
By book 4, I say that this author has a thing about colored hair. Not that I am complaining. In fact, I like the hair! It is also fast becoming a trademark of this series.

When I was reading about Tuesday's whining about nobody loves her! Woe betides me! I was thinking, Jodie is nice! If Jodie could show that much compassion to Forrest, surely she could to her sister as well?! As Tuesday says herself, she is not all that bad off compared to a lot of people in this world. So she has a lot to be thankful for in her life! But I guess that some people are like that. Only sees the negative side. What I do admire though is Tuesday's capacity for compassion despite her experience of bullying from her own coven and others. That her negative experiences in life did not grow in her a bitter heart, but, a good heart instead. That is the real gem! Because that usually only happens in fiction novels and not in reality.

I actually thought that this book was a novella given how short it felt like. But no, I checked amazon, and the book is 343 pages long in print form. That's not a novella.

Anyway, at the end of it, I very much enjoyed it and would recommend it to any urban fantasy reader. However, I suggest that you start with book 1. This is book 4.

Empirical Evaluation:
Story telling quality = 5
Character development = 4.5
Story itself = 4.5
Writing Style = 5
Ending = 5
World building = 5
Cover art = 4.5
Pace = 5
Plot = 4.5

Good book all around. Although I have seen a few references to the Ilona Andrews Innkeeper series I have to say I don't really see too much comparison and even if there is I'd see it as homage.

I liked the male MC character all the way back in book 1. I thought he was going to end up being the romantic interest then. I'm glad he got his own, and I'm glad the worst this female had to deal with growing up is abusive dysfunctional family dynamics and not outright physical torture and abuse.

I agree that the romance seemed to happen rather suddenly, or at least the bashful interest to "I'm in love with you" happened quickly. Even so, I probably would have whined if there had been more emphasis on angsting about whether or not he likes me drivel.

These are good clean paranormal romances, if you can stomach the level of dark they can get to.

To much to unpack

This book was just too much. Let's see if I can get it straight a dud witch who finds out she is a host to another dimension who turns all powerful but is not, not really hosts are really aliens kind of not really, then turns out the dimension she takes over belong to guy trying to killer her, then we find out he is the one who is killing other host and let not forget he use the dimension to siphon power from others who come to his dimension then throw in an asshole sister boyfriend then throw in a jilted lover poisoned by a shifter bc yeah a shifter bite is bad for female witches and an narcissistic mother.
I'm sure I missing so much more but most of the plot doesn't wrap up till like 89% into the book

Oh and the love interest fell flat for me. No chemistry not really (lol) it felt like it was an after thought just so that the book can claim it as a romance.

What a stunning author to run across! Really enjoyed all 4 books. The type u stay up til 4 in the morning to finish. Great fully fleshed characters with issues who adapt to their situations. Complex plots. Side characters who contribute rather than distract.

Only concern is that that the first 2 books were very original, the 3rd and 4th started to become formulaic. No one is all powerless or all powerful in life. It became a little predictable. So 5 star first two 4 star last two.

Maybe start writing a different series and come back to this one with a fresh outlook.

A wonderful writer with a very bright future.

Tuesday is a failed witch, her magic doesn’t work, her mother has mentally abused her all of her life, she lives as a normal human with an adorable dragonette – Daisy.
Then all hell breaks loose, her apartment is broken into and she flees for her life. When Owen (nanny hound from previous books) is sent to protect her, she rebels and drives herself to a meeting in a safe place with her coven. Due to a car malfunction, she ends up at a dilapidated inn. Surprise, it’s a pocket realm.
Then her life changes, with new powers, friends, enemies, romance – she gets it all. Her sister witches are from previous books – Jodie and Ava – didn’t see that coming.
This was a fun book and a quick read. I’m enjoying the Otherworld books, they are all a bit quirky with snarky, sarcastic heroines and fantastic men. There are times when I laugh out loud, others when I’m groaning.
So far I would recommend this series.

Another awesome story! I loved the pocket realm concept. Such original ideas like the other books in the series which I am loving! I have a lot of unanswered questions about Owen. Can't say much without spoiling but if you read it you woilf know what I mean!

I have loved every second of every book in this series so far! The world is rich and exciting and I love the way each book gets woven into the last just a tiny bit. I expect more great things from this author and I cannot wait.

TL;DR Review: Standalone, but the 4th book in a series. "Magical dud" and insta-love tropes, but the MC basically deus ex machinas her way out of...everything? Writing is good but worldbuilding is minimal to nonexistent, maybe because its the 4th book. Going to read the 1st one and see if things are explained/solidified.

The storyline takes some time to develop, but it's worth it. Tuesday feels alone; she's angry, hurt, and jealous of people who can do magic and now she's in danger and on the run. This is where the story takes an unexpected turn, it picks up speed, action and so much drama it keeps the reader enthralled throughout her journey. This is a voluntary review of an advanced copy.

Sanctuary

I loved Tuesday's story, it has a happy ending. I absolutely loved the idea of a hotel that meets the need for people to use as a refuge. It makes my heart sing. A sanctuary. The next book is a unicorn book? I thought you already wrote that? Well your the author. As I've posted before you are my new favorite author! So keep going. I'm off to read the next book! Be back soon.😉

First off, I'm annoyed with Amazon for screwing up the Goodreads app. It's been very difficult getting anything to save - especially shelves. So I'm typing up my reviews separately and pasting them in, with fingers crossed.

Cursed Witch (Creatures of the Otherworld, #4) Thomas, Brogan
I love this series, but this book was the weakest so far. Tuesday Larson is from a powerful witch family, but she's always been powerless. Her mom is overbearing, and as soon as she's able, she strikes out on her own. She's the manager of a department store, and she has a mini dragon for a pet. Then out of the blue, some wack job elf tries to kidnap her. She gets away, and nanny wolf from a previous book is guarding her/hunting the elf, who has been a bad guy in some of the previous books. She's on her way to a safehouse when her car breaks down in bad weather and she takes refuge in a nearby inn. Only it's not an inn. It's a pocket realm. And it turns out she's not so powerless after all.
