This volume brings together selections of enduring intellectual value--classic articles, book excerpts, and research studies--that have shaped the study of human sexuality and our contemporary understanding of it. The selections are organized topically around major areas of study within human conceptualizing human sexuality and sexual behavior; probing the nuances of gender; sexual orientation and its origins; relationships and sexual pleasure; and sexuality, culture, and social policy.
Gary F. Kelly has been a sexuality educator and counselor for 40 years, publishing several popular books in the field. After a 35-year career as Counselor, Dean, and Vice President for Student Affairs at Clarkson University and as Headmaster of The ClarksonSchool, he retired from administrative work to devote more time to writing, teaching, and counseling. He continues to teach courses in human sexuality, psychoactive substances, and counseling psychology in the Psychology Department at Clarkson, where the Student Association honored him with its Outstanding Teaching Award in 2008 (see photo below). He also teaches courses on ethics and social problems in the Honors Program. He is licensed as a Mental Health Counselor in New York State.
