THE DEVIL INSIDE

There’s bodies raining from the sky and the city is tearing itself in two...

A decade after the events on Gruinard Island, Lachlan Maclean thought he’d succeeded in making a better life for himself and his young family. But he was mistaken.

First, it was the desperate homeless and pitiful junkies, who had seemingly jumped from drab Glasgow sky-scrapers. Callous indifference was the reaction from a city struggling to make sense of the global pandemic.

When an asylum-seeker was next, followed by a promising young para-athlete, it became obvious they’d been thrown to their deaths. There was only mild interest from the media.

Glasgow had more important things to think about, it was the start of the football season.

But when fans of bitter rivals, Celtic and Rangers, suffer a similarly gruesome fate, the city finally wakes up to the fact there is a maniac on the loose.

Now the city is in an uproar. Violent crime and mass disorder events spiral into anarchy, the papers start screaming for answers, yet the police have no leads.

It’s time for an unholy alliance to return to the blood-splattered streets of Glasgow.

A millionaire albino killer, an ice-blonde assassin, an ex-gang boss, and a retired police inspector are forced to work together to battle a foe who will stop at nothing to satisfy a thirst for revenge.

WHAT OTHERS HAVE SAID ABOUT ALEX

The Devil You Know
A flawed and cynical character, Lachie is not your typical hero, but Alex Breck is going for something deeper than a crime novel - a statement about society - that had me hooked until the end.’

I would definitely recommend this book if you’re looking for something a little bit different.’

Alex Breck

Alex Breck was born in Scotland in 1962. He studied at Aberdeen University. The many paths he has trodden since then include driving an ice-cream truck in Kansas, banking in San Francisco and teaching English (badly) in Madrid.
He's been a director of both a health club and a meat factory but would stress there was no obvious connection between the two.
He lives quietly on the beautiful West Coast of Scotland where he likes to ride his bike up and down hills much to the consternation of his family. The name Alex Breck is a pen name using an old family name and that of a historical ruffian who might be found in the fine novel Kidnapped.

It's a thriller with a twist of Scottish humor, even in the midst of danger!

The Devil Inside by Alex Breck is a dark intense crime thriller that keeps you on the edge of your seat.

Set in Scotland during the pandemic, it features a millionaire albino killer, an ice-blonde assassin, an ex-gang boss, and a retired police inspector who must work together against a relentless enemy.

The story is full of sharp twists and witty dialogue, capturing the essence of Scottish humor even in the midst of danger.

Breck's narrative is gripping, offering an adventurous ride through unexpected turns and strong character dynamics.

However, readers should be prepared for moments of violence and bad language, making it a thrilling yet gritty read for those who enjoy modern mysteries.

This book has it all! 👏🏻

Crime, drugs, police, murder, even car chases and RPGs! But wait, what?—no pictures? lol, bad joke. But seriously I wish I’d read “The Devil You Know” first so I had some background on the main characters. Honestly you don’t need it. And that’s what separates good writers from great… this book launches you directly into a story without apology or chapters upon chapters of character development.

If you want action-packed, suspense-filled excitement, I hate using cliches but “The Devil Inside” has you on the edge of your seat not wanting to put the book down until you finish. Alex Breck is so good at writing in this genre. I’m going back to get the first in this series NOW!
