I still work for a psycho vamp but now a pencil pusher at the Council thinks he can use me as his spy. The problem is, he might be right.
After taking out the jinn and tracking a mad scientist, I was ready for a simple job. An easy track and remove or a courier job. Instead, I’ve got Agent Cartwright telling me I need to find out if my vampire boss is behind the city’s newest blood farm.
Meanwhile, my vampire boss wants me to track her missing sister who, incidentally, is even more unstable and dangerous than my boss.
I knew I should have said no. No to my boss. No to Cartwright. Not to all of it.
I didn’t find the blood farm or the sister. They found me.
Oh my goodness, put on your crash helmet & throw yourself into this book! This third book in the Roxie Andrews Series is non-stop! I have loved all of these books, but this one is a whole next level! I profoundly detest spoilers, so there is much I am dying to say, but won't. The already fascinating characters experience such growth and the plot is well-layered and absorbing. I could not stop reading!! And Ghost the dog is every bit as wonderful a character as any of the humans or myths that thrillingly populate these books! Highly recommend!
I gobbled this series up back to back in a day and I am so freaking sad the next one isn't here. It is 1:22am and I couldn't stop until I finished. It's like I lost a damn friend and it's been a while since that has happened. Ughhhh
Honestly i didn't even have time for a review for the other books because i just hoped on to the next. This series has parts of a storyline you've read before. Siblings hiding from a past and lying to those they are getting close to as that past gets closer to them buttttt it is so much more than that. Even with those similarities it pulls you in.
Great thing is that each book in the next series picks up immediately where the last left off. Roxie is a heroine you can get behind. One that gets knocked down but gets up and always fights and cares for those who need it. She loves her brother but still allows him to grow with his new family, while trying to start fresh and prepare for what's coming next.
In this book, Roxie gets engaged in someone else's mess and it brings her closer to a danger in the most unexpected of ways. This book was a set up. There are a lot of loose ends and so much information coming at you. It feels like there might be a book ot two more before the end but we shall see.
My one grievance w this book is that if this thing between Adak and Roxie doesn't finally go somewhere I may be pissed enough to stop reading. I get a slow build up but enough already. 3 books in and not even one kiss, come on!
There is so much in this world to love, so many endearing characters. When the side characters are just as important as the main ones you know you've got something. There are minor things I could nitpick at but overall this is up there with K.N. Banet's series with me. I am salivating for the next book and can't wait to see what's next and how the authors round things out. I hope it continues on a high and highly recommend this series.
Roxie finds more trouble in this book. A little more than she can handle and is carted off. We do find out more about Ghost, he's a gargoyle who bonded to Roxie, the last of them finally caught up to the pair. Apparently Ghost had been wandering off from the other gargoyles to be with Roxie leading up to him bonding with her. They're connected now though with Roxie attached to the gargoyle just as much. Coraline rips Ghost's head off but thankfully as a gargoyle, if you gather all of his stones, it's possible to revive him which the pixies did, and as recent acquaintances no less. This book also lets fly a few things that I understood in the prior ones. We learn that Roxie's mom isn't dead but is instead in a coma in a city where Roxie left her. We also get the Adeline Coraline mix up that I've been anticipating since the last book. I'm not sure how we get to the fact that Adeline has a twin without there being some measure put into place to definitively distinguish the two of them by Adeline since it's her territory, but that's what happens which is mond boggling, and especially for a vampire who is all about control. In the end, Adeline is unseated, her fury of vampires is in shambles, and the dagger organization she put together left scrambling for new leadership since she's on the run from her sister's plotting. A power vaccum is left in Austin, not to mention the Illieri and Isle seem to have perhaps caught up to Roxie. I didn't like how Roxie is bending to Cartwright just because he may have found her mother. From their upbringing and the previous two books, the only thing I'd ever thought to see that would make her bend was a threat to her brother Dash so I was a little disappointed.
I loved where this book went and could appreciate the new threats and am intrigued by the male vampire who isn't a zombie. That Roxie is collecting people and allies by the boatload, it makes me wonder what the male vampire's role will be. If Adak has anything to say about it, he won't be competing with the vampire because he stakes a definite claim on Roxie and lets her know that she's his, verbally and straightforward. There are typos, grammatical errors, and some issues with consistency as well as more scene jumping in this one that distract from the book but still very good. More details and substance could make this even better I thought.
I'm very much enjoying this series but desperately pining for the next in the series.
again with the kitchen sink! Still a fun read for sure. And as a fiercely independent woman myself I can definitely relate and appreciate that side of her. I just wish she'd spent half as much time telling us how skilled, trained, powerful, etc she is and a lot more time showing us or you know simply getting on with it rather than just holding endless monologues about it. Apart from that and a few editing issues the biggest problem was with consistency (in the characters, lore, etc), timekeeping, continuity and the likes... e.g. starting a chapter with a line like "2 days later" and then a few sentences in refer to whatever happened in the last chapter aka 2 days ago as having happened a month ago or when switching POVs the timelines often times didn't sync up very irritating and distracting from the actual story/ plot oh yeah, and at the end when asking for reviews they refer to this as the 2nd Roxie Andrews book even though it's the 3rd already.
The series is so good that I couldn't even stop huffing these books down to post a review, til now.
You know that feeling when someone snags the very last piece of your last meal dessert, or end of world magical slice of pizza 😉? That bereft and wanting feeling?
THAT'S WHAT I AM EXPERIENCING RIGHT NOW!
Please get me more Roxie and company in my brain belly STAT. Okay, I know weird, but if you know, you know.
For those of you just joining our program, it's so amazingly good. Go on take a bite, you'll I've it.
From the misanthropic badass heroine to the crew she doesn't want barreling towards her, no one is left out.
I enjoyed book 3 more than 2. This felt more complete and engaging. Roxie being squeezed and working the cases was interesting. Some romantic progress but still big truth bombs to be launched before a HEA. The villains got away again but it didn’t feel like a cliffhangers. Lots of threads to unpack next book. I hope Collier has a clear plan to make some significant progress next book. I loved the Kate Daniels reference.
This was a good second in the series. Often authors drop a bit on th second but Ms. Collier stayed good. Her characters continued to grow and evolve and her world held up in this sequel. Resistance to romance and desperate need to stand alone is irritatingly common in the genre but she handles it well enough. I enjoyed the fact the story kept moving forward. Looking forward to the third and I definitely recommend a read
I'm disappointed. This book was published September 2022. It is not the final book, however it appears there may not be a final book. So nothing is wrapped up.
As far as this book goes, it was fine. Adak is missing through most of the book. There is about 1% forward movement in their relationship. Roxie continues to push him away, which is not a trope I enjoy.
fascinating and exciting story with a feel good vibe
I’ve really enjoyed the first three books in this series and can’t wait for more. The heroine is very likable and we see strong ethics in a challenging and corrupt social setting. The cast of characters is interesting and fun. While exciting and full of action this is also a heartwarming story.
Love the way the characters are written And the diversity that is on display. You guys make a great team, please continue writing you make the story fun and thrilling, plus you feature a bad ass hero who can and does hold her own. I can't wait for what comes next! Please write well, write fast.
I couldn't stop reading book after book as it's fast moving, adventurous, and creative. Roxie is an interesting character who is driven, sarcastic and devoted to her family. Can't wait for the next book
I love Roxie so much. I would love to see some more development of her and the Alpha. Just a short review because I figure everyone wants the next book by now...so please soon
What a great series of books. Main characters are rosie and Adaks great. Ghost us my favorite. The books are very well written and fast paced. You are constantly looking for what will happen next. I can't wait for the next one to get here.
Actioned packed. I am hooked and can’t wait for the next book. I would like to see Roxie use more magic. It feels like she is capable of of doing a lot more than just fighting. The slow burn romance is heating up. Lol….
What a wild ride! This was more action packed than the 2nd book, and the reveals and twists kept me hooked! The ending has me wondering if there will be another book because I'm not sure how long this series is.
Really enjoyed this third book. The book picks up where book 2 leaves off. Plenty of action , lies, and mystery as well as a simmering slow tension between Roxie and the Alpha.
I have been really enjoying this series, but the only thing I don’t like is the books end in cliffhangers . Since I’ve just finished book 3, I’m really hoping the rest of the series has finished. I guess I need to learn to check for that first.
