Someone killed the son of one of the myth world’s most powerful figures. The vampire control freak in charge of my paychecks wants me to find out who.
What she doesn’t understand is, I’m more of a point and stab kind of woman. Point me at an out-of-control myth and I’ll slay it. Tell me to protect a relic and I’ll cripple anyone who tries to snatch it. But I’m not an investigator.
When my brother’s friends go missing and the bodies start piling up, it’s clear there’s a lot more going on than someone targeting the family of a politician.
I once thought my only job in the world was protecting my brother, but it turns out I can’t turn my back on other kids, either. I’m in this all the way and I won’t stop chasing this killer until one of us is dead.
Hello friends! Just Lori coming on to say that book two in the Roxie Andrews Series is live! Grab it and start reading today:) This one has some fantastic new characters I think you'll love. Plus, it gets you one step closer to book three, which is my absolute favorite so far. So go get your butts caught up.
I received a copy of this book for review consideration.
The second book in this series was great! A strong story/conflict, with a nice continuation of character development for Roxie. It was great to see lots of moments of weakness and relying on other people, which I felt was missing a bit from the first book. By letting other people into her circle, I, as a reader, also felt closer to her.
Ghost is easily my favourite character in the series. Love him and super excited to learn more about him.
I hope the next book allows for more honesty/opening up on Roxie's part, along with some advancement on the overarching plot, as it seemed to be a bit neglected here except for a few mentions. But as that is my greatest issue with the book, I'm eager to see what happens!
Good continuation of the story. Roxie taking on another assignment as a dagger that has greater implications than it would've seemed at outset. I liked the weaving of the different things going on as well as the bit of misdirection which turned out to not be who they thought the culprit was behind Ben's introduction to the scientist. This one was a mystery where kids were being experimented on to ramp up or tone down their Myth gene with some not so great consequences. Lead by Gransen the other dragon pack leader and Coraline, the vampire Adeline's twin sister, with the scientist Ellis along for the ride, we get more revelations and fighting. By the end of the book, Roxie has realized that she needs to come clean to Adak about Isle and the Illieri coming for Dash but also that they have intermediate battles that'll come along before then. We'll see what Roxie decides to do. Ghost, Roxie's dog that is growing super fast and unsure of its origins will be revealed hopefully soon at some point. I'm interested to know just what he is, what his powers are in addition to being able to turn invisible, and also who applied the glamor to the dog in the first place. I have a feeling Roxie's mom will make a reappearance but I could be just projecting.
This one is told from more than just Roxie's perspective, we get Dash, Adak, one of the other daggers Roxie works with, and someone else I can't remember. While the perspectives were short and didn't involve much, and the fire detract from Roxie's storyline, I also wasn't sure why they were even needed. We'll see if that happens more in future books but I'm definitely enjoying the series. Roxie and Adak go nowhere further with whatever they're developing in terms of a relationship and she still refuses to join his pack. There are some typos, grammatical, and punctuation errors throughout so could be cleaned up a bit.
Overall, I still like Roxie. The vulnerability she shows when it comes to the kids is admirable but also a weaknesses if looking at her from the perspective any enemy would take.
Book 2 flows right from Book 1 and keeps all the stakes high!
Her little brother is now safe but...she will never stop being a big sister and doing what she can to keep his world stable.
Roxi and a certain Alpha are getting closer and she is getting wrapped even deeper in the dramas of Austin. But she really cannot help herself. She is built to do all she can to keep the vulnerable safe. It is just who she is and I love it! We also get to know a new character even better than before, Ghost. And he is a delight!
Overall this series is just growing from book to book. There are hints of more secrets to unfold, and more world building that explains the danger Roxi is anticipating. But most of all, these relationships are growing as we read. Which all makes me never want to stop reading about Roxi and her new people in Austin.
Again, I highly recommend this quite enjoyable book.
The second book in this engaging Urban Fantasy series is every bit as compelling as the first. If you like werewolves, dragon shifters, vampires, zombies, and witches who are also complex people (mostly, some of the werewolves are just not so bright), you will enjoy these characters and be caught up in the engrossing plot. I truly could not put this down! Also, I really wish I could jump into the story and cuddle with the dog, Ghost. He is marvelous. I really like the way the author ties up the story at the end, but leaves just enough unresolved situations to leave you eager for the next intallment. As with the first, I will toss out a rough language warning, although it is perfectly in keeping with the speakers and their situations in the story. If you can make your peace with the language, you really should, as this is well worth the read!
Entertaining read, although I gotta say there were a few times where I caught myself thinking that someone really threw the kitchen sink at this one... Also, her narrating her own fights like some hyped up fight/sports commentator was a bit bizarre, especially when she goes on and on about all the brutal fight training she's had from her hard-ass mother and how she seems think she's basically unbeatable only to be practically cowering in the next scene "oh no the odds were more overwhelming then I thought" whoopsie... and ends up having to be rescued like freaking damsel... so not just bizarre but inconsistent to boot
Life doesn’t get any easier for Roxie. I had thought when she got Dash (her brother) into his pack that things would be easier for her for a little while at least.
How wrong could I be?
Very it seems.
The description of the way that the myth characters shift or do their magic is easily imagined, as are the settings that the action takes place in.
The fight scenes are (to the uninitiated) well described too.
The first book in this series was good but this second book is even better. Bring on book 3, I can’t wait.
This series surprised me a lot. I took a risk and it paid off in spades. The female main character is intriguing and her story and origin interesting. I find the Male main character could be fleshed out a bit more since I still can't visualise what he looks like. The one thing that frustrates me the most is the slippery nature of the bad guys I like my stories wrapped up at the end of each book. Sadly, this series does not do that, hence 4 stars and not five
Another great read in theRoxie Anderson series. Ms. Collier has continued the saga as Roxie continues to pave her way in the Austin city “myth” culture. Ms. Collier crafts an intricate woven story that keeps us enthralled waiting to read “ just another page, another scene, another chapter and just another book. So please hurry and write the next book. I loved the story. A must read. Lori Collier is a rising star in the urban fantasy genera.
I just read both of these books back to back that’s how good they are ! Action packed ! A kick ass female heroine with a possible romance somewhere down the line with the alpha dragon , I would say if your looking for romance this book isn’t that one not yet anyway but if you love badass women who can take charge kick ass and defend themselves but knows when to ask for help ( which is a big deal imo) then Roxie Andrew’s is the perfect read for you
I love this series it’s action packed and wonderful! Character developments and background stories blend really well and you’re not confused during the story. I felt so sad for Cass Gentey that your girl was tearing up. I don’t want to give anything away so don’t wait and just check it out. I wasn’t disappointed and I don’t think will be either.
Loving the twists and turns in this series. Great storyline and fun characters to get lost in. Started good and keeps getting better. Looking forward to the next book and seeing what happens.
4.5 stars This is an excellent series. There is an overriding story while having more short term conflicts. Roxie is an enjoyable strong FMC. There is a slow moving love interest. Side characters add to the story. I highly recommend this series. (Reminds me of Kate Daniels series)
Wow! I stumbled upon this series and they are off the chain. Actioned packed. I love it. Strong leads and secondary characters. Excellent world building and great storylines. Paranormal at its finest!
This sequel starts right where the first left off, even giving a "previously on" summary. It still had a lot of action, and Roxie is growing as a character, but it was also politically heavy.
Lots of action and no nonsense hard nose bare knuckle fights. This story kept my interest from beginning to end. Highly recommend this series. Looking forward to book 3.
