Qué he hecho.
Nicole Fox writes smart, sexy mafia romance novels. She is a crazy cat lady in her late 30s with a coffee addiction, an overactive imagination, and a husband who somehow puts up with her impulsive need to keep buying new plants for their house.
2 stars for Dima and the story , but the stupidity of Arya is beyond belief. Ruined the entire story . Absolutely written like an imbecile . It pissed me off how that idiot is so stupid, everything she does backfired. Everywhere she goes, she gets captured, beaten, deceived . She loses her own baby to her BFF and the entire time she’s asking “ why?”, “ what’s going on?” Even when she wakes up in the cell, idiot asks the same question . She has no fight , no brain cells to even think of fighting . The entire book was listening to her dumbness . Dima gets shot and he’s bleeding, the idiot asks what happened to you ? He said he got shot and what dumbo asks “ what do you mean?” Wtf do you think ,you dimwit ? I don’t understand how her character was written to be so immature, childish , like an underdeveloped teen . She was absolutely mortifying to read.
What also frustrated me was how little she tried to find her child after she escapes . That would be my first priority , but not for Arya. It pissed me off how long it took her to try and all her lies. She was just the worst character.
I won’t be bothering with the rest of the series . I am not rooting for Arya to have a happy anything .

Basically, while there had been a certain plotline that was highly unexpected that sort of grabbed my attention, it was (sadly) probably the only interesting thing about this book. The funny part is that even said plotline was wildly unrealistic.
Another stunning series from this author, I’ve read a few now and still not found a bad one. This is a Don with a sore spot for his lady and her child. He’s still tough and moody when it matters but it’s a little more realistic and entertaining rather than on the Darkside.
Do u ever happen to come across books where everything is really good BUT the heroine!!! This book was one of those for me, I mean , Jesus, I really hated this bitch, she just ruined the entire fucking story for me.
Arya’s recovery symptoms and required supplies were most definitely lacking. It was attempted to be accurate but wasn’t entirely.
There was absolutely no build up for the love story. It was completely forced. I’m sorry, who recognizes someone based off of their voice alone after a year of never speaking to them after an hour interaction where you barely spoke or even saw the person’s face…. Then instantly fall in love with them after a couple days on the run with them?? 🤦🏼♀️
Another language was slipped into the book continuously without any translation, annoying.
Personal pet peeve of mine is unnecessary formatting breaks. A 200 page book turned into 400 because each paragraph is broken apart by an extra line and numerous one line paragraphs… Almost like the author gets paid per page? 🤷🏼♀️ I am not sure if that lands on the author or publisher but it’s rather unnecessary. Makes me feel like I’m reading a child’s first chapter book.
Needless to say, this book was lacking. Not for me.
This book was wild! Was it trope filled? Yes, absolutely it was. Does that bother me? No, not at all. To be fair does that bother a lot of people though, yes. So beware of that before you go in, this can feel very trophy, and it can feel a little formulaic. That’s not something that bothers me though so it didn’t detract anything from my reading experience.
I will say that the blurb did not prepare me. I went in knowing that we were gonna get the mafia, Russians at that, and a secret baby. And then shit got wild! I was in no way prepared for how this book took the twist snd turns that it did. But was i mad at it? Absofuckinglutely not. I was engaged and the second that I had the time to really sit down and read I finished it in one setting. I did have to pick over the first couple of chapters because it was simply finding time to read. But the second that I had complete uninterrupted time I inhaled it. Is it an absolutely amazing work of literature? Nope, but is it a great fucking read though? Hell yes!
Wow! What an intense ride - especially at the end! I actually struggled a little bit in the middle and almost gave up. I'm so glad I didn't! Can't wait to see how this all plays out.
This book really drags on. The main character Arya is very annoying she constantly needs saving and she seems to forget a lot that she has a child she should be worrying about. She prioritizes other people’s needs more than finding her missing new born and she went from not knowing who her baby daddy is to loving him within a few days. Dima is the worst don ever and very weak no alpha whatsoever.
I have been zooming through all of Nicole Fox’s books lately, but this has been the best one so far. It was SO good.
A bratva don barges into an animal hospital, where he meets the veterinarian who was working late. Basically they have this hot one night stand, and think they are never seeing each other again. 9 friggin months later, they reunite and lots of action (sex & guns & killing) happens.
It was so so hilarious how they came about running into each other 9 months later!! I loved that part so much lol. I also just loved how easily Dima took to caring for Arya and Lukas. He truly has a good heart. Arya is the only heroine that I’ve liked by NF so far. She is strong, and goes through so freaking much man. That cliffhanger had me breathing so fast. I’m off to read book 2!
I am beginning to see a pattern by the author; some nonsensical plots: completely out of this world scenarios. I mean, I get that this was a fictional book but the heroine initiating sex after mere seconds of being held hostage at gun point?!!! By the exact same guy who held the gun?!!! Come on!!! No matter how hot and heavy the situation made you. No matter how big and tall the man looked. Surely you would have some dignity. (On "Gilded Cage" Book, the author also made similar type of nonsensical scene). Anywho ... I let that one slide.
The story picked up from there. I actually liked it. However, again - the author's books seem to be on the extremely long and never ending end. I couldn't see past what the remaining 300 more pages could bring about, let alone the second installment. After all the Hero saved the heroine from being raped by Takas. When the heroine was mindlessly having an innocent conversation with a lovely old lady - telling her her daughter was killed ... then barged in the daughter's addict boyfriend - and somehow everything was tied to the heroine ... Too much coincidence, I tell you. Sorry I'm rambling on and on without telling the story properly but my mind was just too all over the place to think coherently. This book did not do. Too many bogus plots, too many weird coincidences, too long. So this was an unfinished read.
I have read a lot of mob boss books and they are a quilts pleasure of mine. But this book was awful! First the male main character does NOT have the characteristics of being the head of anything! He’s not smart, not calculating, not prepared for anything, he is irrational, and acts like a dealer on the run. He relied on his best friend to get information and make plans while he ran. He did nothing but grate on my nerves. Unfortunately, the female main character wasn’t any better. For someone who “came from” the lifestyle, she was an idiot. The author wanted to portray her as strong brave woman but in the end she came off as dumb and reckless. There were so many holes in the whole book i wanted to stop reading more than once. I will not be reading the second book because I just don’t feel invested enough to care what happens to either character.
What I liked: -mafia -surprise baby; -the writing style
What I didn’t like -how weak the H/Don was. If you’re this big bad Bratva Don, how the hell was it so easy to overtake 1/2 your bratva? Seriously if it was that easy you’re not very good at what you do. -the hookup. It’s really hard for me to grasp h deciding to hookup with someone minutes after they break into the vet clinic, point a gun at her, make her bandage up his gunshot wound then have sex. -there is just so much going on. I feel like they’re on this never ending scavenger hunt from hell to do all these things.

This book was one hell of a wild ride, if you are into tropes this book has all of them rolled into one, almost too many one might say. The suspense and the plot twists really kept me going and on the edge of my seat. I had no clue what would happen next, every next chapter was a surprise. Did not enjoy the FMC forgetting she had a baby to save, and ending on the cliffhanger it did just made the book a bit more frustrating. Overall though I really enjoyed the suspenseful story which made it a fun read!!
The story starts with all kinds of drama and intensity. The Russians, Albanians, and others are all in a tussle over control. It touches on some topics that are relevant today. Human trafficking and new drugs are what makes money for some of the mobs You will not be able to put the book down for one minute. It moves quickly with mob violence and trying to find answers. Nicole Fox never disappoints with a mafia romance story.
Great book but I do wish the plot could move forward without the heroine (again for these books) failing to be honest and causing more drama. I mean, fine if the hero is secretive but here he isn’t. It’s maddening.
Like Mafia, surprise pregnancy, angst, smut like no other and an actual good twisty plot? Then this duet is for you!! Can't wait to dive in to the next book.
FYI: This book will likely trigger you if you have any sort of baby loss trauma or sensitivity to the topic. Steer clear.
If you want the details-see below. But find a better mob/secret baby book to read bc this isn’t for you. ♥️
This started off good and then hit the rails. 🚀
I never knew I had any triggers until this book. Stealing a newborn baby amd then extending it out for weeks and weeks? 👼🏻
Yeah. That was upsetting af. 😭
I had NO idea there was baby stealing in this book and man, it hit me hard. I didn’t like it at all. 😤
And it is a good portion of this book. 📚
Having kids, well, if you have any sort of preg/miscarriage/adoption/lost kids triggers-⬇️⬇️⬇️⬇️
STAY FAR AWAY FROM THIS MESS OF A BOOK. 🛑 ⬆️⬆️⬆️⬆️⬆️
Not that all of that happens, but what this book does, is trigger a baby loss reaction in a woman. 🥺
Or can.
So if you have had any of those happen-again-steer clear. Even after my second baby was born, hearing about missing kids would tear me up. So, this book just hit me so hard, I was shocked tbh. Bc my kids are preteens and teens now. And I wasn’t even expecting to have a huge portion of this book be about sex trafficking and stealing newborns. 😢
THIS AUTHOR SHOULD HAVE A WARNING on this book. Period.
So for me, this was where the author totally lost me. All of a sudden we went from a “who’s the daddy” mob dad secret baby book into a sex trafficking-baby stealing-she has a huge secret book.🙄
It gave me effn whiplash. Too much going on. 😵💫😵💫
And her huge secret is so stupid too. Omg. She is living under a different name bc she somehow pissed off an Albanian mob dude, messed w his drugs he had yet to sell and her mom was their drug supplier. 🙄uh. Ok then. Whatever. 🤷🏻♀️
At that point, I honestly didn’t give a crap about her “big secret” and sort of wished the MC would take his son and kick her dumb ass to the curb.
And. Another sticking point for me. 😤
Never in a million year would she have trusted this Bridget woman either. 🤡🤡Why? Bc if she was so strong to rebuild her life away from this albanian mob, she wouldn’t have a fecking bestie who steamrolls over her and tracks her location via her phone.
Like. Big red flag. The author chose to make the fmc stupid when it suited her story needs. And trust me, after having a baby, she might be weak and in pain, but your intuition is still intact. Your BRAINS are still intact. 🤓
And for the life of me, I can’t see how this fmc just sexes it up with the mc after he found her at her sex traffickers home. 😖
Like. Her newborn baby is taken from her, she is sold for sex, and now rescued, but yeah, let’s totally get it on sexy man. Totally. It felt forced. 🤔 Where is their search for their baby?? It’s like she just forgets. 😩
Again, after having babies myself, I can tell y’all for a fact, if a mom’s newborn was missing? She wouldn’t be all turned on and ready to play for some basically complete stranger. 😶 Esp after being sold like she was. 😑
It was insensitive. And while some will argue she wanted to forget for bit and lose herself in the hot MC, again, no. A mom who has just given birth, had her baby stolen from her, is going to be a hot mess. ☹️
And the only thing she will want is to search for her baby and heal from her trauma. I swear, again, this author just ignores the baby for a good portion of the book after the rescue. 🤡🤡🤡
It is literally my nightmare. To have my child stolen from me. And this author just up and made a book about it. But with zero sensitivity toward the actual subject. 🤬🤬🤬
And let me be clear. I can read a lot of crap. I always said I have zero triggers. Nothing bothers me. But this? And the way it was handled by the author and the way the story rolled out? Geesus. It was horrible. This book is a giant trigger factory for my ass. 😡
I hope this reviews helps those who love a good mob book from avoiding what I did. Expecting to read one thing, and then finding it is an entirely different story.

Was this the best book I’ve ever read? Definitely not.
Was I THOROUGHLY entertained? Absolutely.
I honestly could not tell what was going to happen next in this book in the best way. From one twist to another I was fully engaged. I devoured this in a sitting
The book was bad, like really bad. Before I start going into detail I will give a one liner which should be enough to back off, this book is not worth it. DIMA IS NOTHING LIKE A BRATVA DON, HE IS NO ALPHA. And I mean it,like really. There is not even a single seen in book where you will feel like he has things in control. I don't understand how he handles a bratva. He is fucking clueless, people are doing things right under his nose and he never seems to catch the wind of it. My problems from the book are :- One biggest problem I have from the book is that they are on run in whole book, and when I say it I don't mean it figuratively, it's literally. They are in cars for half of the book and the so called bratva don doesn't have any connections, any loyal lieutenants to do anything for him. Second thing is no matter how hard you try you don't feel anything for the characters, like nothing. There are plots that will reveal, close one who will betray them and I didn't felt a thing. Next thing is Dima doesn't know what he wants, he just can't decide. I do agree that it makes a good read when characters are confused about how they feel. But this is next level. He left her for good and then comes back guns blazing to rescue her. It's a mess if you ask me
This book never really got started for me. Whenever you think of strong, alfa, mafia men, especially a Don of NY, Dima is not it. What mafia Don has just about no resources, running like a small-time criminal, jacking second hand cars? Tsk tsk. What a mess. If he was already reduced to that, he doesn't have rats amongst his men, he's in a rats nest and has already lost his Bratva command. Now here's another spoiler alert: why is Arya trying to fool around with everyone else's drama but her own. And what happened to Taras men? No one came running when shots were fired and a "viking funeral" was taking place. What? And a guy that's never met Arya who just got out of prison doing hard time just happens to recognize her as a wanted woman right off the bat. What? This book couldn't hold my attention. I found myself leaping through pages not reading some of the story. Weak. Weak. Weak. Sorry. I could say a lot more but I'll leave it at that.
I enjoyed this book. The spice was there and intense and I loved it. Dimo was possessive and alpha and sexy AF. Arya was strong and I loved her character.
These things being said the storyline was good until the end. I'm confused on why Dimo is so upset like we get it she lied to you but it's not as bad as you're making it. She legit said this could all be my fault she told you what she did, she simply left out that the guy she spoke of being involved with was her fiance and not just some dude she knew. Bro you banged her on a one-night stand knocked her up and you're mad she's Albanian??? You're a mess. Idk if ill read book 2 simply because I'm mad at Dimo lol.
Wish I could get back this time. I thought the initial meeting was so cold and impersonal, very perfunctory. It was indicative of other moments that were later on in the book - deaths and incidents that were glossed over lacking true emotion and others that were overplayed. The urgency to get back the baby was missing almost entirely at times when other less important issues took precedence which was mind boggling and illogical. And totally missed that this is part of a series, ends on a cliffhanger with no book 2 available yet. Frustrated is an understatement.
NO! Immediately no, when I read the blurb of this book I was so excited because it reminded of good old harlequin secret baby romance and with mafia and guns and delicious angst thrown in I was salivating to start but unfortunately this book was beyond disappointing. My first issue was the MCs having unprotected sex and it did not even register at all then the whole going on the run thing immediately after she gave birth with ZERO supplies. Then the dumbass mob boss with zero ideas of what he was doing and absolutely no plans. I honestly gave up at the diner scene like wtf?

I didn’t finish this . It was funny and it wasn’t supposed to be . It was like reading a three stooges episode . I didn’t like the heroine at all . She was dumb as a box of frogs . The hero wasn’t leadership material and was really dense as well . No chemistry between the couple at all . Just not something for me .
