Clark Thomas has a lot on his plate. A new book. A beautiful woman far from home. A missing fiancé. And a mysterious dead body plunges him headfirst into his latest real-world Myrtle Beach investigation.
As he unravels the case involving renowned food bloggers, restaurant reviews, and The Grand Strand, Clark learns that there is more to the story than meets the eye–and more to his wife’s death.
And the one dead body may not be the last.
With his world turned upside down after uncovering new information about Autumn’s death, Clark must get to the bottom of this mystery while he still can... before it's all too late.
Death on the Causeway is the must-read fourth entry into the Myrtle Beach Mystery Series.
Caleb is a member of the International Thriller Writers and Southeastern Writers Association, the author of five novels, social media marketer, woodworker, occasional golfer, reacher of things on tall shelves, beach walker, shark tooth finder, and munchkin wrangler.
His two Lucas Caine Adventure novels, Blackbeard's Lost Treasure and The Search for the Fountain of Youth, were both Semi-Finalists for the Clive Cussler Adventure Awards Competition.
He is currently at work on the next book in the Myrtle Beach Mystery Series.
He lives in Myrtle Beach with his wife and son (the munchkin).
Another great adventure for our beloved local bookseller Clark! It's been so fun watching our protaganist blossom and come out of his shell with each new book. This series is such a gift to all those who live in or just love the Grand Strand with plenty of name drops to jog your memories and grab your attention!
This is a light and fluffy Myrtle Beach mystery with a lot of twist and turns peppered with nostalgia of Myrtle Beach and the lifestyles of the locals. A novel with a lot of heart as well of betrayal. Enjoyed thoroughly 😍🤩
Love this Myrtle Beach mystery series that ties in mysteries with lots of name dropping of familiar Myrtle Beach restaurants, neighborhoods, roads and attractions. Best to read them in order though as there are repeat characters and events mentioned. Can’t wait to see what mystery next finds bookshop owner Clark Thomas. Enjoyed this one that focused on a mystery surrounding a pair of food bloggers, though I will admit it all made me a bit hungry as I read.
This page turner has me now looking for the first three books in this series. Clark Thomas is a likeable character that drew me in, and I found the story kept me so interested I read it in one go without putting it down.
I always love a long term mystery added in, where we get to know the main character better, like with the death of Clark’s wife.
With food bloggers at the center of this case, those who love a modern mystery this book is for you.
Thank you to the author, Caleb Wygal for the opportunity to read this ARC, I look forward to seeing what happens next!
It was a great read, hard to put down. This installment takes a different way of storytelling from the previous books in the series. Not only do we hear about more places that are real in the Grand Strand and a few that are made up. We have visits with recurring characters and we get introduced to a couple of new people that a cliffhanger ending says we will see more of them in future books. Caleb totally knocked it out of the park with this one.
I will hate when this series ever ends. I love, however, the protagonist Clark and how this supposedly unassuming bookstore owner stumbles into these mysterious murders and figures out the puzzle. As a long-time visitor to the area, the connection draws me closer, especially when the locations of each of these books name drops. If you want a fast read with a few twists and turns, these are the books for you.
This is the fourth entry in this fun and light mystery series that has plenty of heart as well. Myrtle Beach bookseller/ mystery writer Clark Thomas had more information about his late wife's murder and also ends up involved in another case. It was very touching and heartbreaking how the story turned out. But the most it was a good mystery but plenty of twists and turns.
Clark Thomas is stuck in Memorial Day weekend traffic when he sees a woman obviously upset on the side of the road. When he goes to help her, he finds her fiancé abandoned her a few hours earlier. As the two set out to find him, will they figure out why he took off? And how does the dead body they find along the way complicate things?
While the premise intrigued me, I found the pacing way off. Early on it was repetitive. And I figured out what was going on early. Still, I do like Clark and the rest of the gang, although I wasn’t happy with how his love life developed here. The setting makes me want to go visit in real life. And we get a new clue on the death of Clark’s wife. Those looking for a light read will enjoy this series, but don’t start here.
This was another Myrtle Beach Mysteries tale that I had received from the author in return for an honest review.
This was a tale which made a more than a few references to the previous cases that our protagonist has had a hand in solving.
This tale involves a case of jilted lovers (?), a pair of food bloggers from Louisiana - one them heir to the family business, the protagonist continuing his search for the truth in the sudden death of his wife a few years previous, and also his attempts to get back into a relationship.
The tale was interesting in a "Cabot Cove" kind of fashion. This story is definitely a good read and a good continuation by the author. I would rate this story a solid four stars out of five.
As with all my literary ramblings, this is just my five cents worth.
I read this only because of the last line in the first book of the series. The main character is nice and he does grow in this book. There is still lots of references to places in Myrtle Beach but less a feeling of marketing to it than in the first 3 books of the series. He still dangles the mystery that ended the first book without really going into it. Great strateby because I have to read on
3.8 I had not read this author or this series before. What an enjoyable little mystery…little mystery within a bigger mystery that is yet to be solved. I will definitely read the next books in this series. The setting is in and around Myrtle Beach and Clark Thomas always finds things to investigate while running his coffee shop and book store. Big mystery is who killed his wife 3 years ago…seems to be the consistency from book to book…so I will keep reading. Easy to read short book.
I love this one too book number four of the Myrtle Beach mystery series. I enjoy riding along with Clark and all his mystery adventures. Also, with being a local to this area, I like all the uses of all the local names, restaurants, and road names used in this series. It makes me feel like I'm riding in the Jeep with Clark. Keep these coming Caleb Wagal!!
Once again Clark has found himself in a very particular situation. From trying to just be a good guy, he always seems to get himself in a pickle. I do find myself really rooting for Clark and Gina!! I also need to know what happed to Clark’s late wife, I have my suspicions! Can’t wait to read the next one!
How does Clark get himself into these situations???? This time he almost gets killed. Who leaves their fiancée stranded thousands of miles from home? Thank goodness Clark is there to save the day….. or is this a good thing? And, does he get any closer to finding out what really happened to his wife? I really do like this series
Loved "Death on the Causeway." I'm not a big mystery reader, but Caleb keeps drawing me to Clark's story. It's a nice light easy beach read. Love the Myrtle Beach references. I have a few new restaurants to check out now, and I recognized several I've been to.
Interesting book and story! Loved the characters and how all these books in this series intertwine. I like this author’s style of writing. Very good storytelling!!
I really enjoyed this installment of the Myrtle Beach Mystery series. The action came faster, and the characters seemed more well developed. I didn't feel like the book lagged in the center.
This book was not as good as the first 3 in this series, but it was ok. I like his writing style and particularly like reading about familiar places. Starting book #5 in this series now.
Kept me interested , some really good twists and turns. Love these Myrtle Beach mysteries, since local places and restaurants are mentioned!! Need to try them.
