After Priscilla’s father passed away, her brother decided to arrange her marriage for her. He informs her of the upcoming wedding. Priscilla is not happy with her brother’s choice of husband. She tries to go through with the wedding. She makes it down the aisle but the next thing she knows is that she is running. Why did she run? Will Curtis let her go? Where will she go? How will she live? Will Curtis follow her and try to get her back? Will she find happiness or despair?
The series is really cute, but sadly, this book falls very short. The first few pages alone were the worst grammar and editing I've ever seen! Literally. Character's names changed in places. The tenses kept changing from one sentence to the next. Also, words were completely missing in multiple places so there were many sentences that made zero sense at all. Many of these mistakes would have been caught by the author simply proof-reading her own work. Was no editor involved? Editing aside, I still wouldn't have enjoyed this book. The book opens with a long drawn-out play by play of the Heroine packing, in extreme detail. Sentences are repetitive and my interest was lost. Later in the story, the conversation felt so stilted and factual. I felt no emotion and no pull towards either character. It read more like a book report. Sorry, I can't recommend this book at all.
This is a sweet mail order bride tale. Priscilla has lost her father and mother due to illness recently and now her brother has arranged a husband for her. The man, Curtis is not a man of her liking and she overhears him telling another woman he loves her. Priscilla runs from the chapel and take refuge in he home of a matchmaker. The matchmaker send her to a man in Wyoming wanting a bride. When she arrives her new husband, Augustus marries her immediately. Curtis follows her and shoots Augustus. You will enjoy discovering how they find their happily ever after.
Priscilla has lost her father and finds her brother in charge of everything, including her future. When he tells her she will be marrying local man Curtis she isn't thrilled but wants to do right by her family. On the day of the wedding she tries to marry Curtis but finds herself running out of the church and away from him. Priscilla must take matters into her hands and become a mail order bride to Wyoming to get away from Curtis and have any chance of finding the future she deserves. In Wyoming Augustus runs a good sized ranch, is raising his nephews and needs help from a nanny. I found this to be an incredibly sweet, clean read with characters you can't help to feel close to.
I really enjoyed earlier books in this series but was disappointed with this one. I found it very difficult to read as sentences had mixed tenses in them, characters constantly swapped between first and third person and spellings changed throughout. So Priscilla changes to Pricilla, then Pericilla before going back to Priscilla, then Pricilla again...so confusing and frustrating. The plot was ok and the characters are relatable but this needs a lot of proofing and editing to be enjoyable. I read this on Kindle Unlimited.
I had a very hard time rating this. I absolutely loved that the author used so many Bible verses and truths. The story of Prissy and her escape and love found was good. But oh, my word…the numerous misspelled words was so very distracting! Even Priscilla’s name was misspelled! And there were so many paragraphs with the same thing said several times. Very repetitive. I actually skipped over some sections. I’m guessing there was no editor?
This was a new to me author, but I’m not sure I will be reading another of her books. 😢
Priscilla: Runaway Brides of The West was a delight. Poor Priscilla, first she loses her Dad, now her brother wants her to marry Curtis. She doesn’t trust him. On the day of the wedding, she runs away to save herself. She doesn’t know what she will do, but it’s definitely not marrying Curtis. Mrs. Williams befriends her and next to traveling to become a mail order bride, to Augustus. Trouble is not to far behind her, but with Augustus protection, she will be safe. Wonderful characters and story.
The story was fine, but the grammatical errors were too distracting to enjoy the story. At least it was short! The tense changed often, even in the same sentence. Ideas and thoughts were often presented twice. I don't see how it made it without someone catching the hundreds of errors. I have no interest in reading other books in the series, simply because it was painful to read so many elementary grammar mistakes.
Sweet and clean mail-order bride Western about a young woman who is being forced into a marriage, but manages to escape and go the mail-order bride route instead. Problem is her cheating ex-fiance is in pursuit of her. A short and interesting bedtime read that probably could use one more final edit going forth.
First, if you use Bible quotes in a story set in the Old West you have to use the King James Bible. Other translations didn't happen until the 1950s. Also, in several places the person changed. From third person to first person. This should have been caught by a better editor. Good story, though
There is a runaway bride, someone in pursuit of said bride, and said bride becoming a mail order bride instead. Overall an interesting set up to the story that moved along at a good pace and nice inspirational moments. This reads ad a stand alone in this series.
Wonderful story of mystery, suspense, adventure, and romance. Priscilla and Augustus’ story is one of their faith in God. Great characters with enduring friendship and family.
I enjoyed the book! The story was interesting and had enough drama that made it exciting. The book is a clean wholesome Christian story, I highly recommend reading this book!
