Win a bet by fake dating the hottest quarterback at South Point Prep, who would say no?
The task should be easy. Win a bet, get the money, and annoy my idiot of an ex-boyfriend. Sounds simple, right? Wrong. What Zach Evans didn't prepare me for when he suggested we fake date was how real my feelings for him would become after just one fake kiss. Anxious flutterings and steamy daydreams were only the start of the inappropriate thoughts I had for my fake boyfriend. One kiss turned into two lies and another public nightmare that I couldn't get away from.
What will Honey do when she finds out Zach's biggest secret?
'The Quarterback Sneak' is a 100k standalone New Adult Contemporary Romance. It is intended for mature readers.
Zach and Honey's story is literally the cutest thing ever! I am obsessed with Zach—he's just everything! Seriously, he's such a sweetheart, always putting everyone else first and sacrificing so much just to make sure everyone around him is happy. He was the perfect golden retriever mmc— loyal, kind, and always eager to please. You can't help but fall in love with him.
And Honey, she had such major character development throughout the book. So many moments had me cheering her on. She really found herself and went after what she wanted, no matter what stood in her way. It was so inspiring to see her growth and determination.
And don't even get me started on the fake dating trope—I'm living for it! Zach's ability to understand Honey without her even saying a word had me swooning so hard. He’s so perceptive and caring, always knowing just what she needs. Plus, the nicknames he tried out while finding the perfect one for her were just too adorable. His efforts to make her feel special were heart-melting. I'm in love! 💖✨
3.5 very predictable in my opinion. don’t like jamie one bit and don’t want to see him end up with a happy ending, i am however happy with this ending in this book!

The quarterback sneak de Ana Shay
Argumento:
More than a general baby trope, I dislike a fake baby trope that coincides with a miscommunication trope. Several things overall led to this rating. I think with some editing, the writing can be stronger, but more than that, I think there needs to be a developmental overhaul.
The premise is fine and standard for the genre, but this timeline had me all sorts of confused. In the beginning, the bet is pushed to prom in “April,” but in November/December? I couldn’t tell you, they’re saying “one month until prom. And then in the next paragraph we’re discussing January and the new year? The timeline is a mess and it seems unplanned and squished together rather than laid out.
If you dislike pop culture, don’t pick it up. There’s some kind of pop culture reference in every chapter, and I know there are some mutuals who don’t like that.
My personal icks are the excessive, and I mean excessive, uses of nonsensical nicknames as he finds “the one” for her. I mean, it was cute at first because it added to their banter and was a point of aggravation that furthered them. However, after 60% of a book with just… I don’t even know, it got very old. Personally, I would’ve dumped that after months on end. I almost DNF’d over it (and the fake baby ironically lol), but I had to stick it out for this fake baby situation to see if I was right.
I mean, wasn’t bad wasn’t the best. Overall, I would’ve liked a warning page of sorts, because I mean I can relate to that kind of life and had I known that was a trope in this, I wouldn’t have picked it up. I searched all the reviews I could find and kept double-checking the blurb, but no one mentioned a single thing about it, so hopefully this helps someone who likes to avoid the same things.
I had an absolute blast reading this. Zach and Honey were so cute together, even if his nicknames for her were atrocious 😂. At the beginning this was a solid 4.5 star. Unfortunately there were some quirks that bumped it down to a 4. I wasn’t a big fan of the whole making it believe he has a baby. Since the beginning when it was mentioned he would just barely skate around that whole situation without saying it was his, however they made it into such a big deal to make us believe that he actually was. I didn’t believe him but after he kept hiding it from Honey and making those small comments about it that I couldn’t stand him for a bit. Second thing that took a while to get my head around was the timing of the plot. In the very beginning the FMC would say something about them being together for a certain amount of time, and in the next chapter the MMC would say a different time and it confused me just a bit. And lastly what bummed it down a bit was towards the ending when Zach would stop talking with Honey for a long period of time and when he saw her he’d go right back acting like before. I understand that they were faking it but surely they knew how each other felt about the situation and their real feeling. The whole him asking her to wait for him and then he goes and takes weeks to get back to her and acts like nothing happens. They irritated me when they both kept saying they had to talk with each other and they never did, they thought about needing to do it but they couldn’t have simply picked up the phone and shoot them a text or a call. Otherwise besides that I really enjoyed it.
Oh I absolutely love Ana Shay and I adored this book. This is my favourite one of hers I've read so far.
The Quarterback Sneak focuses on Honey and Zack. Honey is left humiliated when her boyfriend is caught cheating on her and the video goes viral around the school. Left devastated and heartbroken she feels utterly alone. She's the richest girl at the school But it doesn't matter when everyone's talking about her. When Zack approaches her and tells her of the bet her ex has set up they form a deal to start dating in order for Zack to get the money he so desperately needs. But what is it that he is hiding?
Isn't it special when a book comes along and you just connect with a character? I loved Honey so much. I connected with her on so many levels and I could feel her insecurities through the pages. They were written so well and I could feel her pain, humiliation and what it's like to be in the middle of bullies.
And then there is Zach. Zach is so swoon worthy and I absolutely loved him. I liked the way he had all these different pet names for her until he found the right one that fitted his Honey. His dialogue was amazing at times and he has some great comebacks.
It is a little upsetting that one of the villains in this book is called Jamie as he really did give Jamie's a bad name. Haha! But that's only because it's my name. But boy did the angst add to this story.
I loved everything about this book and I can't wait to read more from Ana.
4.5 ⭐️ this book was amazing! The characters were wonderful, I loved the bet trope and the slight twist to it. Everything was amazing.
Zach is such a good guy. He’s always wanting the best for the people around him and sacrifices so much so he can make sure that happens. I wish he’d communicated more, but I also totally understand his reservations about and the implications communicating and what he needed to say getting out to more people. Zach has made it to my 2023 book boyfriends list ❤️
Honey, this girl had some major growth throughout the book and I was so proud of her! So many times I was like yes! Look at you! She really came into her own and found what she wanted and she went for it no matter what.
I loved how both of these characters realized there’s so much more about a person beyond the surface. And that’s such an important life lesson. They both learned about fighting for what they want and that sometimes it’s okay to put what you want above something else, in the end it will all work out.
I’d love to see a sequel maybe junior or senior year with major life choices having to be made and see where they are and how their lives are going. Check in with the other characters as well.
Ana Shay wrote a beautiful story and I can’t wait to check out more!!
Absolutely Loved.. Absolutely Adored.. Absolutely Devoured.. what can I say except another five ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️read from the Queen of giving me the perfect Happily Ever Afters AnaShay!!
When Fake Dating turns into Real Feelings Zack and Honey have it all.. This is their story. The. Quarterback from the wrong side of the silver spoon sets out to win a bet and earn some hard earned money for his family. The "Queen Bee" who needs a little revenge on the ex..What neither of them accounts for is when lines blur and walking away isn't so easy.. Zach is Everything you want a Fake Boyfriend.. funny, caring, charming in the mouth on him let's just say.. " Yes Please! Honey is so much more than the privilege she was born into and wants out of her parents controlling ways to be who she wants to be . When you team these two up together, you get a whole Lot of bantery fun, sass, spice and all the swoon but you also get friendship, loyalty, and that there's more than meets the eye.. Not to mention the emotional twist and turns and a-ha moments.. This has everything you could want and didn't know you needed.. Falling in love with these two was easy. Zack and Honey HEA Vault secured!!
Why do I keep doing this to myself? I go on TikTok and stumble upon some book recommendations, and they sound like 5-star reads in these couple sentences. And then I read them.
Noup. Just no. The clock app lied to me. Again. If this is dark romance, then I'm a fary. When I put aside the fact that I went into this book expecting something else, it was still not as good as it could have been. But the writing I liked, the cute little plot twists, and the male main character.
The female main character was a disappointment to me. I like characters with stronger personalities, but her character development was on point. Her parents, on the other hand, are not for country clubs but for mental hospital.
Considering that this is a fake dating romance, I'm annoyed at myself for not reading it sooner.
It's been a while since I've read a Prep School romance with the rich girl x poor boy trope but, man oh man, did I really enjoy this one.
Ana is really good at creating characters I hate and WOW did I hate Jamie. Like he is the scum of the earth and every time he appeared on page, I wanted to punch him.
As for Zach and Honey, I absolutely adored these two. Honey deserved the whole world after everything that happened to her and Zach was the only one who really saw through her facade. Although there was a moment there where I wanted to shake Zach for being an idiot, he was the perfect match for Honey.
🌶️🌶️.5
-prep school -fake dating -rich girl x poor boy -overprotective MMC
Nothing is better than fake dating, oh wait, maybe throwing it back in your ex’s face who cheated on you then bet his football team he could get you back, all the while still cheating on you. So what does the Quarterback of the team do, he tells you and you both plot against the horribleness!
This concept is sooooo good. Zach is everything! He will have you swooning and wishing he wasn’t trapped in this book!
Ana has easily become one of my favorite authors. Her writing is fantastic, entertaining and soooo spicy! You absolutely must read all her books!!!
umm idk i jus…idk I love Zach with all my heart I don’t like what he did that one part when he was trying to you know call her something that she was not when I knew for a fact that she was actually very genuine when she actually did try and talk to him before the whole school found out but anyway we’ll talk about it . There could’ve been a better representation of her, but the book was still good that’s all that matters.
oh, and her mom can get it. I’m so ready to just run up on a lady that part.
Okay really thought Ana was going to make me suffer through having “boo” as a nickname for a hot minute there 😅😅
Zach was so sweet & self-sacrificing; he was trying to juggle it all for his family & that is so admirable 🥹 but for me, the real star here was Honey. I loved seeing that girl grow & fight for herself!!! Despite having everything controlled for her, she had a mind of her own and I think Zach’s unconditional love gave her the confidence to break free
Now Ana, how the heck am I supposed to read a book about JAMIE next?! 🙃
It's a light and easy read. Honey and Zach begin a fake romance due to wanting to get revenge on an ex and to gain money from the rich society.
It's got hilarious moments, infuriating moments and really sweet moments. I enjoyed the story and the relationship between the characters, however I did really enjoy getting an additional extract to see how Honey and Zach are doing now
Started off good but immediately went downhill after. Holy crap, he just couldn't stop talking about the girl (not honey, Tiffany), her teen pregnancy, the baby, and being poor. Every.Single.Chapter. Honey was.... something? I tried my best to understand her actions and her low-key bipolar self, but I just couldn't. I read half of the book and then placed it in my DNF (Did not finish/Do not f*** with) list.
Polar opposites decide to help one another by fake dating after her ex-boyfriend Jamie publicly humiliates her with another girl.
He then announces a locker room wager, which Zach finds out about, and tells Honey, leading to a fake dating arrangement, as he needs the money for his personal commitments.
I loved tue concept just not the execution the bet was to dragged out and who the heck is tiff was running through my mind the whole time I didn’t like that the reader wasn’t aware of who she was because I was left wondering who she was and if she was really his baby momma!! Still loved this read just would change a few things.

This was such a good book. It is not your normal fake dating and honestly it was a breath of fresh air. Having them be on the same side of a bet and helping each other even when they might not have understood why. It was amazing to watch them fall for each other and change the script as they did.
This book unfortunately bored me out of my mind. I don’t mind the premise but I hate the fake they’re in high school. I got to 48% before I DNF’d I was trying extreme and I don’t really care about the story or the characters. There’s no reason both the main character can’t tell each other they like each other. I get the bet and the uncertainty come on….
I was a bit disappointed. There was too much unnecessary drama that I couldn’t enjoy the story. The mmc is lying and secretive for no reason. Jamie is a snake for no reason. The revelation of the whole lie the book was centered around was underwhelming. 95% of the book they aren’t even together.
I'm going to dnf at 55%. Overall I like the premise. I like the characters too. However I wish Honey learned to stand up for herself by watching Zach. I want there to be a better catalyst for her to change than being cheated on. Perhaps it will be more obvious if I kept reading but I'm just not understanding Honey's personality. I'm dissatisfied.
Author was inconsistent with the timeline. I didn't like how heroine would go with everything what her parents said and at the end she suddenly made 180 and they couldn't do anything. It didn't made sense since they controlled everything she did throughout the book.
Yeah I loved this book so much!! The main characters were so fun and had such amazing backstories that really told the story well. The smut was fan-fucking-tastic!!! 🥵😍🌶️🌶️🌶️🌶️ this made me a football smut romance enjoy-er lol
I hate how little info we get about tiff because of how much it's important to zack. I get it's probably to help set up the next book but i also just strongly dislike jamie so i dont really care for a hea for him
I cannot begin to state how well this book captured my interest. I love the plot. 9/10 for me, it’s a sweet book with minimal spice. Just enough though!
Quarterback from we'll say the wrong side of town fake dates the rich girl starts as revenge and a bet... and let's just say the nicknames he tries to come up with and use for her swoon...and also had me laughing
When I first started reading this book, I was thinking surely Zach wasn’t doing what I thought he was. The further I got into the book I figured there had to be more to the story. I enjoyed watching Zach and Honey coming together and did not expect the outcome with Jamie.
I really enjoyed this book. I however felt the last few chapters lagged & how long it took Honey & Zach to have that talk, as too long. Also, Zach choices of who mattered most, kinda pissed me off. Still this is really a 4.5 book, and I really enjoyed it.
