About the author

As a child, Pamela was lucky enough to grow up in a house full of pets and go to a primary school where lots of spooky and weird things happened (well, in her imagination at least). As a student, Pamela’s student jobs included: fishwife, teaching basketball in America, phlebotomist and Artist Liaison for a (really bad) Abba tribute band. Now, when she’s not writing or going out and about meeting readers, Pamela teaches philosophy to teenagers.

Her top selling stories include The Spy Who Loved School Dinners which won the Blue Peter Best Story Award and My Head Teacher is a Vampire Rat which won The Children’s Book Award. Two of her books, Petunia Peri and There’s a Werewolf in My Tent, were shortlisted for the Lollies – the Laugh Out Loud Awards.

Pamela lives in Dundee with her baby boy and their two awesome cats, Bear & Carlos. If she wasn’t working as a writer and a teacher she’d like to open a luxury hotel for stray cats.

Kartu su Pranu (7m) perskaitėme dar vieną puikią mokyklos detektyvų istoriją. Nieko negirdėjote apie mokyklos detektyvus? Tai puiki Pamelos Butchart knygų serija, skirta 7-10 metų vaikams apie linksmus, išradingus, šmaikščius ketvirtokus: Izą, Zaką, Džudę bei Meisę. Jie nuolat įsivelia į netikėtas, paslaptingas istorijas. Ir tikrai nesumeluosiu sakydama, kad kas kartą aš ir Pranas su nekantrumu laukiame jų naujų nuotykių.

Šį kartą, Iza ir jos draugai sunerimsta, nes jų mokyklą pradeda lankyti aibė naujų mokinių. Ir ne bet kokių, o didžiausių priešų - Baltazariečių. Nuo senų laikų šios dvi mokyklos konkuruoja ir nesutaria, o čia ima ir įvyksta jų susijungimas. Aišku, tai ne paprastas susijungimas, mokykla užgrobta! Atėjūnai jaučiasi ne kaip naujokai, o kaip mokyklos šeimininkai. Jie net ima kalbėti slapta kalba. Iza ir jos šutvė turi viską išsiaiškinti ir išgelbėti mokyklą nuo ateivių.

Man labai patinka, kaip šioje knygų serijoje pateikiama mokykla. Ji ne tik nykus, nuobodus pastatas, su savo taisyklėmis ir pamokomis, bet ir be galo paslaptinga vieta. Čia gali įvykti bet kas: gali vaidentis, užsiveisti žiurkių - vampyrių, mokyklą gali užgrobti atėjūnai ar virėjos demonės. Be to, šioje knygų serijoje svarbiausia yra vaikų draugystė, pasitikėjimas vienas kitu ir šiltas bei gražus santykis tarp mokytojų ir mokinių. Tai puiki vieta augti, vystytis it tobulėti.

Tik priminsiu, kad šios knygos leidžiamos dideliu šriftu, serijos dalis galima skaityti ne iš eilės.

Another one of my brothers children books. I read this book just because I needed something light and easy. And it did what it had to do. I'm really happy that I chose to read a light book after "The Ballad Of Never After'.

I would really recommend this for younger people, I feel like it would be really fun and enjoyable for them.

It is SO funny! My favourite part is when Izzy and her friends find people who look JUST like them! You will love this book.

Another brilliantly funny school based story by Pamela Butchart. My 9 and 10 year old daughters absolutely love this series for the laugh out loud moments and the fantastic illustrations throughout. The pages have well spaced and generous font sizes. This story was loved even more by my eldest as the protagonist Izzy shares her name. The crazy adventure begins when Izzy and her friends learn that their school is to be merged with another: St Bartholomew's. Their initial concerns are whether they will outdressed or out-sang, but it soon becomes clear that their greatest rivals have other plans.

This was another enjoyable instalment of the Baby Aliens series. My eight year old is loving reading them with me.
This one could have done with a bit more explanation of the plot, but it was still a fun read.
My daughter has picked up some impressive vocabulary from reading this series, and done it while really enjoying the stories and characters. I can't think of too much more that you could ask from a children's book.

Pamela Butchart books are always brilliantly zany with lots of laughter. This one appeals to children aged 7 and up who have started chapter books and love a funny story. Izzy and her friends have to find a way to get on when their school is merged with another and find out what is going on with the other children who are just too loud and shiny!
