Cody Banks destroyed his life before enlisting in the Marines. But tough decisions in America drained the military’s resources, leaving the nation vulnerable to attack. When Cody’s detachment returns to a powerless country, he finds himself steeped in the blood of a brand new war. His enemies are swift, brutal, and at times, scattered; to get back home to Burning Hollow, he'll have to cut a path straight through them, and the middle of Hell itself.

With casualties mounting and parts of the holler in ruin, the tides of power shift again, ushering in an unexpected enemies posing as saviors. The National Guard has shown up in the holler; are they friend or foe? While Rowdy and Taylor fight to safeguard their homes and community, the cartel descends upon them with violence and a terrifying agenda. But vengeance is a cruel mistress that cuts both ways, and not everyone will survive Pablo Santiago’s wrath.

If the Banks family is to survive a vindictive brother, a bloodthirsty cartel, a skilled vigilante, and an encroaching army, they must form a stronghold able to withstand asymmetric warfare and sabotage. But is this a case of too little too late? Or do they have a fighting chance? Will there even be an America left standing at the end of this war?

I am on book three and overall I'd give the series 3.5 - 4 stars. I am invested in the characters and their survival in an apocalyptic world. You guys know how much I love a good apocalyptic world and this author paints quite the picture of America after an EMP. Love the fact that the town Burning Hallow is almost the main plot of the story, but there's also a world war happening and a global superpower is under attack. Overall this is some great Men's Adventure Fiction and I'll definitely read more from this author.

Hold on! The battle has just begun!

A town torn apart by two rival families. A feud that’s been generations in the making. Brothers torn apart by one woman. An EMP strike that destroys any hope of mending shattered lives. Can two brothers pick up the pieces of the love they shared and become stronger together? They must stand strong to fight against an enemy that has never been seen on US soil as well as a drug cartel trying to take control during societies melt down.
Cody and Rowdy must stand side by side to protect their family, their future, and Burning Hollow.
This book is a must read for anyone looking for a post-apocalyptic series. Ryan has once again grabbed the reader by the throat and tossed them into a story that can’t be put down until the battles are over.
BRAVO! Highly recommended!

The tempo and attitude doesn't let up from the first book. I very much appreciate that the characters aren't a bunch of helpless victims. Rowdy's brother Cody makes his enterance into the series and you do truly feel as though the two are brothers with the forementioned history. I am more and more a big fan of Ryan Schow's work. The angle with the invading army disguising themselves as US troops as they move across the land makes for extra layer of complexity to an already intense story.

Rowdy and Cody Banks!

I understand the the first book is to set up all the prep and back stories, damn they’re good! This second book in the series is obviously better than the first because we’re getting into the meat. This series is going to get real good!
Thank you Ryan, anticipation is bitter sweet.

Cody and Rowdy ride again.

Fast paced with plenty of action! Cody and Rowdy take it to the foreign invaders. Making an alliance with a neighboring area is a big help. The eccentric man with his cat, add a definite new storyline that will have you laughing and scratching your head. Looking forward to book 3.

Disturbing

A look into the desperate brutality of war, and the raw emotions of people in the thick of it all. The horrific treatment that must be endured; horrific acts a person will commit to protect their loved ones, their homes, for survival.

A disturbing view of war brought to your front door!

Catrick Swayze rocks

This is turning out to be a fun but violent series and Catrick Swayze brings some levity to the story. A little Rambo and Death Wish in the story with Rowdy and Cody Bank and the mysterious Bartholomew Norwood. Many twist and turns in the series to keep you wanting more to read.

Again Ryan Schow does not disappoint. Another great series to read. You get so lost in the story and the character's seem so real that it is hard to put the book down. Can't wait for next book!

Chaos

Trying to stay alive and figure out the real from the impostors. What would you do if we were invaded. Its more real today than any other time in our history. That's why can't wait for next book to come out.

Book Review:
“The Ashes of the Unknown: Sunset on America Book Two” by Ryan Schow
In this second of a five-novel series, Ryan Schow’s characters experience a truism of life, viz, that there are both roses and thorns.
Great novel! I shall begin Book Three today.

oh the characters!

Love all the characters but I think my favorite is Catrick Swayze and Bartholomew. But the core of this story is so frightening to think this is where we’re headed as a country. But not so scary for me to stop reading this series, love it!

The ashes of the unknown

If the idea for this tale was to gross the reader out, it succeeded. This was the most confusing thing I've seen in the last three years of Kindle reading. I kept slogging my way through, thinking it had to get better,, but it didn't.

Easier to read as it’s well written

Pretty much what may happen because of our open borders and the political climate behind this. I am impressed by the writing in that the book is grammatically correct and that’s a pleasant surprise in this genre!

Sunset on America

I like the book so far. It has some compelling ideas. I think this series is going to be pretty good. Hopefully the main characters don't lose their lives in the series until maybe the end? I guess I'll have to keep reading to find out the outcome.

Well, it did keep me reading..

Pretty good, however these are supposed to be tough as nails hillbilly killing machines, would they say words like 'poop', and 'backside'?? Seems out of character.

If you abhor graphic violence, this book and series is not for you. However, I thoroughly enjoyed this book and can see how easily things similar to it could happen in real life. This is proving to be a very good series!

The Ashes of the Unknowns

So many rivalries: drug runner muscles, the feuding families, a man with many identities and the foreign invaders masquerading as Americans. Will the Banks survive this bedlam?

Catrick Swayze!

What a book! I laughed, I cried! Never have I read anything that takes you from one extreme to the other so fast. With a character such as Catrick I can't wait to move on to book 3 to see where all of this goes.

Excellent thriller not for the faint of heart

As a fan of Post-Apocalyptic sagas, this one has stated well. A pair of brothers separated for years find themselves with unwanted challenge for their family and town.

Enjoying the read

I like this genre, so thought I would get this book to read myself to sleep. Instead I find I am reading into the wee hours. Plot is fast moving with some surprising twists. Characters are interesting even if not deep. Ready to start next in series.

Realistic storyline

Storyline is realistic and keeps reader wanting to know how the story will end, the writing style however is sophomoric which questions whether I will continue the series or not
