Ms Hawley explains the basics of color theory using the color wheel. She has lessons in achromatic, monochromatic, complementary, triadic and analogous color families. She discusses the need to develop a creative folder for all of your ideas and lessons. The more I learn about the color wheel the less I like it. I disagree with some of the theory and find the colors that are suppose to work together are actually clashing and worked against each other. ( Orange and blue do not work; regardless of what color theory says.)
I do not feel that Ms Hawley explained the color theory or the design principals very well. She listed design principals but did not give any explanation of what they were and how they worked. Frankly I was unimpressed by the book. Her quilt projects were uninspiring. She seems to forget about using value most of her fabric selections were MEDIUM and had a flatten look to them. I was not inspired.
