Rate this book
Crushed is the bizarre and true story of Alene’s tragic accident that caused her to lose all her hair within twenty-one days. Once a brave go-getter, feeling like she was “going somewhere”, she suddenly felt weak and unseen. Alene found herself fearful, angry, and doubting the only One she knew she could trust.
Sometimes, life crushes you unexpectedly. And Alene learned this in a real way. Unforeseen circumstances like an illness, the death of a loved one, infertility, divorce, or the loss of a job you treasured can leave you wondering who you are and why God allowed such a tragedy. And this was where Alene found herself.
After realizing she could not control her life, Alene embraced a journey that would lead her to strength. Crushed is a call to realize where your true value and identity come from. And it also challenges you to trust God, no matter what, with your fragile life.
Learning to slow down and savor each moment as if it could be your last, Alene soon discovered that in the very place she felt like a nobody, she was now God’s somebody.
In this real and gripping story, Alene shares her emotional journey of how she learned to face the crushing and embrace the love God still had for her.

"It's just hair," is something most women wouldn't want to have to repeat. Our hair whether short or long, brown, blonde or grey is part of our identity and something we enjoy and may even take for granted. However, Alene's heart-wrenching yet encourage memoir allows us to delve into the world of "What if I crush you?" and we learn that God indeed has a double blessing of joy, peace, wisdom and relationship on the other side of hardships.
