In this groundbreaking collection Cecilia Tan blurs the very definition of sexuality and redefines the future of erotic fiction. She delves deep into the world of dark fantasy in a powerful collection of stories that interweave the supernatural and science fiction with the fantasy of daydream; she brilliantly combines noir erotica at its most potent with startling sensuality to shatter the physical and emotional boundaries of sex. These stories, some never before published, range in style and texture from the warmth of magical realism to disturbing modern gothic -- showcasing a rich and varied exploration of sex in worlds that might be earthtly -- to tales of the human fantasies and magical dreams to which we all succumb. From the critically acclaimed, otherwordly "Pearl Driver" to "The Game," all of Tan's stories celebrate the body and sex, revealing the positive emotions behind even the darkest desires.

This is an early classic collection of short stories that will arouse the reader, still ten years after I read them originally. It's a collectable worth reading over and over.

Wow!.... I must admit that this book had, crazy, kinky & wild erotic tales for all I mean heterosexual, bi-sexual, gays & lesbians. Especially for those who are into group sex, BDSM, or bondage, other surreal stuff, etc. Still in state of shock that my friend's late Mother had this book in shelf. I swear this lady was pretty conservative when she was alive and I hardly ever heard her say anything naughty or anything regarding sex. Well, to make a long story short in how I got her book was that my friend & his siblings was emptying their Mother's house, and most of her stuff that they decided not to keep and had sent to good will. Since my boyfriend offered to help him, we pitched in to take some boxes to the thrift shop and one of her books fell out of it box and I found it in his hood. So I picked up the book that got left behind. Which was Black Feathers by Cecilia Tan. It seemed like a small dark looking book, but when I read the synopsis of Black Feather, it totally sparked my interest.

This is the first book of Cecilia Tan that I've read and I must say that she was a great writer with a unique imagination of creating these hot & steamy tales. These stories are sexy form of a wild ride of magical realism. All well written indeed and since these tales are short the book is a quick read. Now my boyfriend is reading it. In case you're wondering, we haven't asked our friends if their Mother was really into reading erotic genres? We just left that alone.

I rate this book with 4 stars & two thumbs up. I would recommend to book to anyone to read. Especially if you enjoy steamy reads. I wouldn't mind reading other works from this author.
