Angela Knight - Wake Me When Chloe Hart receives a sexy painting of a sleeping knight, she plunges into an erotic version of Sleeping Beauty. Radolf of Varik has been trapped in the painting since being cursed by a witch centuries ago. His only hope is to visit the dreams of women and make one of them fall in love with him so she can free him with a kiss. But love isn’t that easy – and the witch has no intention of letting him go...
Jess Michaels - Ancient Pleasures Isabella Winslow is obsessed with finding out what caused her late husband’s death. But when she finds herself trapped in the tomb of an Egyptian concubine with a sexy American raider, succumbing to the mummy’s sensual curse takes over. But is their love an erotic trick of the tomb, or could it last for all time?
Kimberly Dean - Manhunt Framed for murder. With the law hot on his trail, "bad cop" Michael Tucker takes hostage the one woman who can clear his name. Evidence has turned Taryn Swanson against him, but the attraction between them is still strong. Soon, Tucker resorts to unconventional, yet effective methods of persuasion to change the sexy ADA's mind.
Jennifer Probost - Masquerade A masquerade ball in a luxurious Italian villa sets the stage for this hot romance with a masked stranger and a woman who has spent years hiding her sexuality. Hailey Ashton makes a bargain with the eccentric Ciro Demitris, determined to free herself from her sexual restrictions. Four nights of erotic pleasures without revealing her identity. A chance to explore her secret desires without the fear of unmasking. Until love changes all the stakes...
Masquerade by Jennifer Probst: I was a little disappointed by this one. Seriously? She had no clue that it was her best friend behind the mask? How did he know it was her then, initially? I just found it not believable.
Ancient Pleasures by Jess Michaels: I don't think the Egyptian tomb spoke to me. Interesting idea though. Steamy.
Manhunt by Kimberly Dean: Ugh I struggled with the sex in this one, it was too close to rape for me. I get that she was attracted to him but that doesn't make it not rape. And just because she said no and he didn't have sex with her that night doesn't change it for me. That said this story was better than the first 2 stories for me. For some reason this one was more believable. There were a lot of gaps in the story though that did get filled later, mostly, but would have been nice to get info sooner.
Wake Me by Angela Knight: This one seemed pure fantasy to me so even when the sex was questionably consensual, it was a dream so it was less creepy. I enjoyed it.
'Wake Me' by Angela Knight - Knight Radolf of Varik & Chloe Hart (a witch cursed him into a painting & he can't get out until a female falls in love w/him)
'Ancient Pleasure' by Jess Michaels - Isabella Winslow & Jake Turner (1897 Egypt; she's a widow who goes to Egypt to try to find & claim a tomb that her former husband found; he is already there & lays claim to it
'Manhunt' by Kimberly Dean - cop Michael Tucker & ADA Taryn Swanson (he's framed for murder & he takes Taryn hostage in order to try to clear his name)
'Masquerade' by Jennifer Probst - Hailey Ashton & Ciro Demitris (she makes a bargain w/him at a masquerade ball - she gets four nights of erotic pleasures without revealing her identity)
I love the Secrets books, my favourite short stories. I've read all these up till till 14 (that reminds me I must go get the rest!) and this is one of my favourites, number 11.
I love Angela Knight's short stories, wowser, she's a shocker and a happy guilty secret (I devour all her short stories and I love rereading them!) and I also love Jess Michaels, one of the first erotic authors I ever read, and she's still my fave right up there with Angela Knight.
So, this volume has two of my favourite authors in it. So I was bound to love this one.
I didn't like the Masquerade story so much, but the other three were very good.
Get all the Secrets books, they're really fabulous and you might discover some new authors along the way.
I'm not going to rate this since I only read the first (Masquerade by Jennifer Probst) and last (Wake Me by Angela Knight) stories in this book. I've been wanting to try Angela Knight for awhile now and I have to say that I really like her writing style. I look forward to reading more of her. I was not a fan at all of Jennifer Probst. I love books/stories about Masquerade Balls but I think she did a terrible job. Maybe because it was a short story so she couldn't add all the yummy details of the place, characters and gowns? I don't know, to me I didn't think the characters were very believable. No depth to them at all
This was a sweet anthology I scarfed up. I bought it only so I could read WAKE ME by Angela Knight. I'm a fan of Ms. Knight and this was up to her usual standard. This was a good anthology to try out a few other authors I've never tried before.
