Owen Sanger ~
Becoming an Army Ranger was all I ever wanted. After years of devoting my life to the Army, I’ve found a great job where my skills are put to good use. Life was good, but seeing Lori, my longtime friend again, changed everything.
She was my best friend, my confidant, my neighbor, and one day on a boat, my lover. I went away after that, and we lost touch. Now, here she is with her daughter, and suddenly, everything I ever wanted seems trivial. She was the one I let get away, and I’ll never forgive myself for that.
Lori Matthews ~
Nothing in my life has been more rewarding than being a parent. It’s the gift I didn’t know I wanted at the time but wouldn’t change for the world. It’s just been she and I against the world, and thankfully, that’s worked out nicely. But now I'm sick and i had to come home. But running into Owen takes me right back to the moment I realized he would never call, and I’d spend a lifetime wondering what could’ve been.
He was the guy I secretly loved, the reason I smiled, and the guy who broke my heart and left me when I needed him most. Now he’s here, handsome as ever, and so difficult to resist. But can I trust him or will revealing my secret send him running again?

This compelling story draws you into a web of action, mystery, and danger, revealing increasingly complex situations as tension builds and the stakes grow higher.

He has always loved her, but he left her behind. Now she is sick, and he finds out she has been keeping a secret. When she is in danger closer than anyone thought, he will do everything to save her.

The characters are alpha males with a heart of gold who risk their lives rescuing others and hunting down the bad guys. Men who fall in love quickly and will do anything to protect what is his and his brothers in arms. They are family.

A love that was meant to be.

He was six and she was four. Owen and Lori became inseparable from the first time they saw each other. Life would come between them until he moved back home in time to realize she had kept important information from him. Also she was dying.

good book

Owen and Lori grew up together. Both thinking they would be together for life, but life as it always does gets in the way, the rest of the book finds them finding their way back to each other. Good easy read.

This was an excellent and well written story. I like that Owen and Lori have known each other since they were young kids. But after he went into the army rangers he couldn't keep in touch while he was training, and his father had him leave his phone at home. So when Lori tried to get a hold of him and couldn't, she of course jumped to the wrong conclusion. She should have had more faith in him. There's a lot going on in this book, between his missions, injuries and what's happening with Lori. HEA.
