In "Thrifty Traveler's Guide to New Zealand," author Amelia McKenzie takes her readers on a lovely tour exploring the home of the Kiwis. A peaceful environment paired with a happier community makes exploration worth it.
Unfortunately, when the British reneged on their portion of the treaty, New Zealand felt it best to be independent, and no one could blame that decision. Independence allows the country to represent and have its politics separate from if there was a single ruler involved. The best part is the mutual understanding the Kiwis have with Australia, which allows traveling between the two countries to work harmoniously without additional paperwork or going through red tape.
I enjoyed learning about New Zealand culture and the history of the wars and treaty agreements between the British and Māori people. It demonstrates that nearly all countries had their bouts in wars and negotiations that didn't withstand the test of time as intended. Overall, New Zealand sounds like a great place to visit and I would be adding the country to my list of travel locations because there some interesting things I'd like to explore there.
