Saving Sophie is the fifth free ebook I read from Ravenous Romance and it's the first one I can genuinely say that I liked.
The story revolves around small-town girl, Sophie, and her long-time crush Jake. After a male auction that Sophie asked Jake to participate in, and during which she manages to "buy" him, the two share a night of passion and then go their separate ways. A few months later, when Sophie offers him a job at her foundation, Jake comes back home. Despite their night together, the two manage to work together and remain friends. They become closer than they ever were before when Jake trusts Sophie with his deepest, darkest secret. Then, faced with his "failure," Jake inadverdently sleeps with Sophie again before quitting, and simultaneously leaving her after her declaration of love and his fears coming to a head. Sophie's brother, Brett, talks some sense into his best friend Jake, and a few days later, after realizing his love for Sophie, Jake proposes. They get married in the end and live happily ever after.
I really enjoyed this story; I thought it was a really cute romance and the characters were enjoyable, too. The relationship between Sophie and her friends was touching and at times envious in their closeness. However, the most intriguing relationships were the one between Jake and Sophie and the one between Sophie and Brett.
It was nice to see the developing relationship of Jake and Sophie over a period of time, and that he had realistic fears he wanted to save Sophie from. However, the most touching part of their relationship was when Sophie sat Jake down and explained her love for him, explained how, no matter what, she would always stand by him and take care of him. No matter what.
Plus, who couldn't love a story that opens with this line: “Think she’ll expect sex?”

I really enjoyed this and had a damn hard time putting it down. This was a beautiful, quick read. Two of my favorite romance themes, brother's best friend and friends to lovers.
Really liked the characters, great story but I felt the resolution at the end just was a little too quick and easy. The characters and plot in the beginning were more complicated and deserved a more thorough ending.
Okay, so I think it's sort of a given at this point that contemporary romance without some sort of paranormal/urban fantasy twist isn't really my cup of tea. True story. Yet, I still download and read the free ones as some part of a futile quest to find satisfaction in this genre. You'd think I'd learn. But I don't. Part of it is the lure of those free books. Free.Books. I can't pass the darn things up. Part of it is simply the joy of finding new authors, new writing styles, hopefully meeting a character or two that make my brain fire with pleasure.
Now I'm not saying this is a bad book. Really, it isn't. It's just ... so ordinary. If I'm trying to lose myself in a book I want to read about shapeshifting men and demons and fallen angels. Reading about the fairly normal couple down the street who have had the hots for one another for a dozen years doesn't light my fire. I want epic battles and blood and maybe a few guts.
So, on the good side: The book is well written. There was one not-so-little formatting snafu (the epilogue popped up after chapter 15 or so without any warning, so I knew how it all ended. Yes, it went Chapter 15, epilogue, Chapter 16. I had confusion.) which was really jarring, but the writing itself was good.
If contemporary romance without any supernatural twist is your thing, give it a try. It wasn't bad.
I happen to come across this book and it seems interesting. Now even though I gave this book 4 stars it's really 3.85 but deceided to go ahead with the 4 stars. The way the book starts draws you in immediately as you get to know the characters. Sophie was a good character she is that typical girl who grew up with the braces, pony tales and the little sister with the crush. Jake is your typical male character and he was likable. This is a little cute story and ok for the price of $0.99. The more I read the book it reminds me of the show friends but with some sex, saying it like that not sure if that's a good or bad thing. One of the things that annoys me was how the author uses the OCD in the story it wasn't bad but found my self rolling my eyes a bit when even I could figure out what was going on with him, when you read it you will know what I'm talking about as I don't want to give away much.
So as I said cute story it's a quick read to past time or to relax to.
They were friends since childhood, and she had a crush on him since forever. He left home, went to college, and is now one of a number of young successful Broadway producers. Sophie is now director of her parents' charitable, artistic foundation, and she invites Jake to be one of the "prizes" at their celebrity auction. She wins him and they meet as adults. But Jake is determined that no matter how enticing Sophie may be, no matter that she is wooing him away from his "lone wolf" stance, he had the best reasons in the world to remain alone. A very emotional story and well-written. Enjoyable and entertaining. I found it quite compelling--didn't put it down once.
Jake Muscat is a renowned Broadway Actor, Sophie Huntsman is a poor little rich girl running the local theater company that her family started. Jake is Sophie's brother's best friend.
As it always seems to go, Sophie has had a lifelong, unrequited crush on Jake. Jake comes back for a bachelor auction, sees Sophie and they connect on a nuclear level.
I'm still not sure I truly liked this book, it was kinda meh for me. Plot was a bit jumpy, conflict was not all that conflicting and the characters weren't all that to me.
This novel was surprisingly good. Yes, it was raunchy and I think that the author probably used the word "boobs" a million times but the story itself can get you past all of that.
Sophie has been in love with Jake since she was 12. All through their teen years, she hid her crush for him. 12 years later, Sophie and Jake have kept in touch through phone calls and emails. When they meet up again at a bachelor auction sparks fly.
If you enjoy romance novels of the erotic variety, check it out. It's pretty hot. :)
[This actually isn't a spoiler but some might see it that way so I'm just warning you now.]
I read this story before, not the book just the story; it's always the same just different names: guy afraid of commitment, enter "hot" girl that's different from all his other girlfriends, they decide that what they have isn't serious, they go on with their lives. But hey they can't stop thinking about each other, guy thinks he's protecting girl from whatever is stopping him from a normal relationship, but then he realizes that she can make him commit.
This was a good book. It wasn't bad, but it was rather short and lacked a good, strong plot. It was almost as if the author had so many ideas that she was trying to cram into one book, and it created a really messy story line. It also lacked a good climax. As soon as the "climax" had been revealed, it was solved nearly immediately. Overall, it was a good, cute read, but I had expected more from it.
Two of my favorite romance themes, brother's best friend and friends to lovers. Enjoyed this a lot, had a hard time stopping to go to bed. Solid storyline, great chemistry and nice characters. Good stuff.
Really liked the characters, great story but I felt the resolution at the end just was a little too quick and easy. The characters and plot in the beginning were more complicated and deserved a more thorough ending.
This was a nice story... nothing incredible about it but nice. I suspect the author was setting it up to be able to write a series to explore the others in their group of friends. Sweet read with a bit of humor.
Lovely enjoyable quick read. Love the charachters, love the flow of the conversations and funny quips, and last but not least, really love the plot. Childhood big crush becoming lover... my favourite plot! Too easy ending didn't stop me enjoying this story till the last page. (^^)d
I enjoyed this book a lot. It was well written, told from both of the main characters' points of view. The story flowed and I felt like I was getting to know Sophie and Jake. Would like to read the love stories of the other friends as well!
Free eBook. Sophie's been in love with Jake since she was 12, has only emailed with him she was 18 and then she wins him in a bachelor auction. Hijinx ensue. I liked the characters a lot, they had a good relationship and then romance and the writing was fun.
Loved this little one, only takes around 3 to 4 hours to read. Characters are all really likeable and it was a really good story line. Another Jake hotty!! Looking forward to reading more of Elle Amerys work although there appears to be none in Kindle format at the moment.
this was longer that the usual 30 pages or so that most short stories have. i'm calling it a novella. anyway. this story acutally remindme of my own relationship with my partner
I found this to be an enjoyable story. I was surprised that I liked the characters as much as I did. I am looking forward to reading the rest of the series.
