Tristan Townsend has come home to London to assume his duties as the Marquis of Lockwood after all the men in his family have died. Desperate to rid himself of the "Lockwood curse" and restore his family's honor, marriage is the furthest thing from Tristan's mind…until he lays eyes on an enchanting stranger and vows to make her his… Lady Simone Turnbridge--beautiful, bold, and with a scandalous past--is not eager to be some wealthy man's bride. Some men want her hand in marriage; others merely want her in their beds. She mocks them all with a twinkle in her eye, knowing not one of them can tame her…

But it's too late to walk away now--when the promise of passion is so wanton, wicked, and thoroughly wonderful….
Hi everyone! Here are a few facts about me: I am a multi-published author in mass market historical fiction, or in other words, I write historical romances. I have a background in education, specifically social studies, but I've also dabbled in directing a public television station and serving as a police liaison officer.
I've been married to my wonderful husband, David, for twenty years and I have a teenage son who has yet to encounter a sport he doesn't love. Basically, when I'm not frantically writing and eyeing deadlines, I'm running a taxi service to various sports venues around town. Heck, around the entire state of Kansas.
Speaking of which, I live in a small town on the prairie where everyone gathers at the football field for Fourth of July fireworks and the Lions Club serves free ice cream and watermelon. Where going to the ball diamonds, the grocery store, and the truck stop for dinner is always a social occasion. Where the police department is all of three guys and the Chief drives a PT Cruiser.
My life is full of love and adventure, which always carry into the historical romances I pen.
When Tristan Townsend learns of the mysterious deaths of his father and two older brothers, he must return to London to take the title of Marquis of Lockwood. While escorting his stepsister to a ball, Tristan meets Lady Simone Turnbridge and is infatuated by her. When a fire breaks out at the ball, Simone leads a group to safety. She is unlike any woman he has ever met with her take-charge attitude. Simone likes Tristan and wouldn't mind getting to know him better. When he makes it clear that he would like to meet her for a rendezvous, she is more than willing. She is used to being the scandalous Turnbridge sister so she might as well live up to her reputation.
As Tristan and Simone get to know each other, he confides in her that his father and brothers were murdered and his stepmother profited from each death. He knows that his stepmother will eventually make a move on him and he has plans to catch her in the act. But Tristan is afraid that if he gets involved with Simone, it will put a target on her back. Growing up in a brothel and living on the streets, Simone has seen a lot in her short life. She can take care of herself and isn't about to back down in the face of a little danger. My rating: 4 Stars.
This story comes in different waves. I was hooked in the fist twenty pages, then disappointed. And that’s how it went. It didn’t help that I didn’t find the character of Tristan very likeable. In fact both characters left something to be desired I found them selfish and in Tristans case self absorbed. Simone rang rings around him.
I think this book was the best out of the trilogy. I've enjoyed Simone a lot in Her scandalous Marriage because of her attitude; very frank and bold. She hasn't changed much since the previous book... the only thing that bothered me was it seemed to me she wasn't comfortable in her family. She has things to hide and I found it unfortunate, especially given the past of the three sisters. Tristan was a typical historical romance hero and unfortunately, didn't stand out that much. I enjoyed the book, but I personally didn't understand why nobody was really in favor for Simone and Tristan's union. Tristan wasn't really a rake or if he was, he couldn't have built a reputation yet in London and then, he was only 10 years older than Simone... which is a normal age gap... So why? Also, I thought Tristan discovered his stepmother's involvement in the deaths a little too easily and worst, he still fell for it.

OK, this one was pretty good. for once, the heroine was no pasty faced, simpering miss. she smoked, she was honest, bold, and she had no qualms about sleeping with the hero. Of course, the other story about his stepmother murdering his family for the insurance money---that was pretty good. there was a nice twist at the end. this was my first book by this author.
