I don’t exactly know how to rate this. At the start, I was fully invested and interested in the story. As it went on, I felt more and more “over it” and by the last section all about her “beloved angel twin flame Todd,” I was needing it to be over. She’s had so many amazing experiences, but it’s just her way of communicating that doesn’t vibe with me. It’s like that energy of an older mom-type on Facebook who overshares and puts herself and her experiences on a pedestal. And my god, she comes off so… pardon me for saying… childish? With how she speaks of love and romance. And I am not one to diminish love and romance!!! But she has such a fairy tale way of seeing and speaking about romance (even calling Todd her Prince Charming) and that’s just not me. The sort of Disney fairy tale romance never interested me. There is the weird assumption in society that all little girls dream of finding their “Prince Charming” and getting married which was not my experience. But she seems to embody that 100%. She even talks about how she knows she’ll marry Todd in heaven. I personally feel like I will be onto other things once I get to the other side. I guess my personal outlook is just too different. (She speaks of how “twin flames,” which is how she identifies, are the most highly evolved and advanced souls, yet I would argue that the most advanced souls probably aren’t so interested in the idea of marriage when you know that true soul connections are eternal and you’ll be with your people forever?) She reminds me of the early Pamela Des Barres journal entries from when she was a teenager - which are super fun and cute and humorous when it’s a teenager, but she kept that same energy into her 50s? Again, I have nothing against love and romance, it’s just a different vibe. It’s a “you do you” situation. (And the way she kept saying how the sole reason she was brought back after her near death experience is for Todd - how must her daughter feel reading that? It’s all about her romantic partner and not about her daughter?)

I also felt slightly weird about how her experiences and views sounded so Christiany? And this is a woman who was technically Jewish but I guess wasn’t raised so much with that culture? It just felt a bit off, rubbed me the wrong way, that she presents her experiences as being *the way they definitively are* where I feel like everyone’s experiences are going to be tailored to them, and even having a near death experience, if you were to see God, maybe he’d present himself differently depending on who you are and what would suit you? It makes me think of something I told my mom when I was little, about what if we all picture God as this older man but then we see him and he’s just a baby. And he’s like (imagine a child doing an exaggerated New York style accent), “what are you talkin’ about ‘baby,’ I’m God.” So I don’t know. As much as her experiences have showed her all sorts of possible miracles, I feel like they’ve also narrowed the scope for her, making her see her views as the absolute truth with no wiggle room or variety. It was just a lot of the language and vibes that came off wrong for me.

Thank you to John Hunt Publishing and NetGalley for an e-ARC of this title in exchange for my honest review. All opinions are my own. I have read many books of this genre. I liked this one, and I know it's the author's story, but it had a rambling quality at times that was difficult for me. I liked the book, but I didn't love it.

“Hope from Heaven: A True Story of Devine Intervention and the Girl Who Came Back as God’s Messenger,” is a book based on a Near Death Experience and the author’s life thereafter. I’ve read a significant number of books on NDE’s, After-Life Communications, and Mediumship from researchers and experts on these topics and was always able to fully take them to heart. However, “Hope from Heaven” varies greatly from these books. I found it challenging to continue reading as it bounced around making it difficult to follow, appeared self-aggrandizing with considerable name-dropping, and the way she talked of mature love in her 50’s took on a quality of a high-school romance.

I wanted to like this book, but it just didn’t resonant with me.

I am grateful to Author Elissa Hope, John-Hunt Publishing, and NetGalley for allowing me the opportunity to review this Advanced Reader’s Copy. This is a voluntary review, and all comments and opinions are entirely my own.

A wonderful book full of divine intervention, hope, praise, and faith in our Lord.
I literally couldn't wait to pick up this book because I truly believe in life after death as well as coming back from near death experiences as a messenger to share in God's word.
For many who can't relate it might seem far fetched but as a cat with nine lives I can assure you that God is glorious, loving, and full of blessings beyond our wildest dreams.
To be an empath after living in a state of fight or flight means you must be conditioned to know who you are and know your worth as many will try to destroy both aspects of one's physical, emotional, psychological, and social make-up.
Upon reading this book we are taken upon this journey with the author who passed during a routine procedure only to learn she was given a gift to be able to return and share with those who hold hope for a brighter future.
Hope From Heaven was written well and provided the message that we are all God's children and that we are here to fulfill a legacy that is one of hope, healing, prayer, and divine faith.
Thank you to Elissa Hope, the publisher, NetGalley, and Amazon Kindle for this ARC in exchange for this honest review.

I found Hope from Heaven to be a fascinating, funny and inspirational book. I read it at a challenging time in my life and was so comforted and inspired by Elissa’s journey. Imagine trying to discover your purpose as God’s Messenger on Earth. I loved how, through her experiences, insight, and wonderful storytelling, she offered advice about how to be a better person, how to use the magic of kindness in day-to-day situations, and how to ease some of the pain from our personal tragedies with the Hope from Heaven of something more.
The story was so comforting, powerful and visual, I would love to see it as a movie.

Great book very inspiring and heartfelt. I’ll be more aware of being put under with gas because I read this book. Anything can happen as it did here.
