Minx owns the oldest standing pub in King’s Fall that has recently grown thanks to its rising popularity. This means a few things: renovation time, time to update the drinks and menu, and time to hire some more staff. Starting with one waitress shouldn’t be hard? Right? Eloise Raven is a 25-year-old divination wizard who hasn’t had luck finding jobs in her field now that she’s graduated from university. It’s hard for a human to keep up with more powerful Oracles when your visions are less impressive but more in-depth. Her cousin, Frank the bartender at Minx’s pub, gets her the job. The problem is, in a moment to prove her prowess as a divination wizard, she sees her own future with her new boss… in the walk-in cooler… and she’s calling him Daddy. But Minx is a grumpy, older Katto (Cat Folk) who can’t possibly be interested in the worst wizard in town, can he?
Eloise comes to learn that there’s more to Minx than battle scars, his rough but fluffy exterior, and his commanding presence. Minx comes to learn a new side of him when it comes to his good girl, and he’s willing to give her the world… something he’s never known he was capable of until she whimpered his name. Holy Hell this book checked all my boxes! Daddy k!nk! Monster Cat Man! Feisty Pink Haired Wizard!
Absolutely loved this book, quick read with tons of spice! I love the boss/employee trope and this one did not disappoint. Markings and delicious sexy time! Highly recommend if you are a monster lover!
This was a fun and mostly cozy grumpy x sunshine romance. Eloise was a people pleaser who was the first to crack Minx’s grumpy shell. Their workplace relationship quickly turned spicy, with the hiccups you’d expect from any grumpy sunshine dynamic. Both of them gained more self confidence throughout the book and got unconditional love in the end.
Spice: 5/5
Triggers: stabbing, emesis, fainting, fire (in vision), employer and employee relationship, (power differential), family planning discussions, discussion of attempted murder (vague), mentions of violent past
I don't think I've ever loved a setting like I love King's Fall. As a D&D nerd, it just hits all the right notes, magical, cosy and the diversity in characters is just so fun! The Kattos Waitress is the fantasy food service/hospitality story I didn't realise I was missing. The relationship and banter between Minx and Eloise is so sweet and playful, I just couldn't help but become immediately invested in them and their happiness. I cannot wait to see what awaits them next, and secretly hoping for Mr Jones to be torn a new one by Cat Daddy. With a great balance between sweet and spicy, I would highly recommend to anyone who had a crush on their boss or was curious about what it would have been like to sleep with that cute Tabaxi the DM mentioned last session.
The description of the magic had me imagining cotton candy and I love it. Eloise is relatable and Minx is... woo boy Minx may look like a cat, but he's a fox. The library alone had me swooning. Can't wait to dive in for more!
I laughed OUT LOUD, I’m not usually into the daddy dom vibe but The Katto Waitress really made it impossible not to adore Minx and Eloise. 😍 The playful banter, the real conversations, I recommend this short story to anyone feeling lack luster. This novella will make you all better.
I read this book right after the holidays and it's taken me a BIT to get to this review. It's so sweet. I love the fantasy elements made everyday. The romance was so sweet and touching. Twas the balm my soul needed after the damage done from the holiday craze. There was so much I loved about this book and I'm not a big smut reader.
First off, if you’ve never read anything from Author Lizzie Strong, she is for the girls, the gays, and the tabletop rpgers. I am a huge Dungeon & Dragons nerd and Lizzie plays with that world in a modern setting with very familiar themes. It was like coming to a familiar space and it made this book super cozy for me. And it’s got spice, too.
As a former kitchen witch, baker bonbon employee—I have never felt so SEEN. I have a huge weakness for books that take place in bakeries, cafes, or restaurants and this gave me so much life. From how to pour drinks to the ice scoop! Ah, I know this is a very idiosyncratic thing to get hung up on, but it meant so much to see this in a book and I hadn’t realized I had been depraved of this niche setting until I read Lizzie’s book.
Final thoughts: This book is for our food service besties who ever had a crush on their boss and wanted to fool around in the walk-in cooler.
Final, final thoughts: HR is a thing, proceed with caution.
I’ll detail more later. But this Novella was CUUUUTE.
I love fluffy cute monster romances with GOOD spice. And this one delivers.
I am also a SUCKER for DD/GG dynamics and like. Helloo Daddy Minx. He’s great. And a definite Grump but also like. So sweet? Ugh I loved him
Eloise was an adorable character who is also smart and just such a joy to read about. And as an academic struggling to get a job in my field, I totally relate to a lot of her plights 😅
Check CW/TW as always. Lizzie here has a WONDERFUL list made so thank you Lizzieeee
I really love Lizzie’s writing style. It has so much personality, it is fun, funny, refreshing, and deliciously sexy. I love the monsters, the magic, the world building. So many things about it I love. Buuuut I loved the Dragos Assistant more than this read. It felt a smush rushed to me? Like it could’ve been longer, elaborated on certain things more. It just slightly felt like something was missing. But it was delicious and sexy and fun and I’m excited for the Kattos Wife. Lizzie’s books remind me (if I ever fall into a slump) that THIS is why I love reading so much.
I was blessed to have received a copy in exchange for my honest review.
This wasn’t my favorite. BUT did I adore it anyway? Yes. Did the book and characters make me swoon and have cheese coming out my nose with how cheesy and wholesome this was? Yes.
I did feel like that there could be more filler on the relationship building and the plot with the Lawyer to be more..resolved.
Holy cat paws! This book made me laugh so much. The fact that Eloise was relatable made the entire book that much better, the playful banter, the spice and the markings was just the whipped cream on top of the cake. 😜
Super fun, super cute quick read. Minx, the Katto, is charmingly grumpy and I love a grump with a sensitive side. Eloise is relatable as a FMC and their relationship is sweet and spicy. My only complaint is that I wish it was longer!
When Minx, the owner of a pub, is looking for a new waitress he doesn't expect to have a beautiful woman become the perfect fit. Not only for the pub, but also for himself.
This is a sweet and spicy romance with a fun twist. I highly recommend all Lizzie's books
I was given this book as an arc and HOLY SPICE!!!! Catdaddy meow!!! This book was fantastic!!!! Very well written, easy to fall in love with the characters and root for them!! Another very well written book from Lizzie! I can. It wait to follow this story along!!! Great job again Lizzie!!!

I loved this book so much, dear reader. I related to Eloise as squishy person with a bit of difficulty wrapping my mind around my value in a relationship outside of being helpful. In the course of the story I had something click in my head that... well I'm not sure that issue is *fixed*, but certainly it's much better. I strongly suggest that if paranormal urban romantic fantasy is your jam like it is mine, you click right through to discover the quirky brilliance of Lizzies writing for yourself.
Minx & Eloise are the cutest dang couple I've ever had the pleasure of reading about. I'm not sure I can pick my favorite thing about this book...Eloise finding her place and her new family made my heart so happy for her & I loved Minx learning he's not destined to be a lonely grouchy old man but a happily mated grouchy old man haha while this is already a good sized book I found myself disappointed it had to end! Here's to hoping I get to see these characters again in the following King's Fall books!
DNF at 50 %. Cute and steamy. I liked the two main characters together but it was just really repetitive. The book also felt way too long. They get together really fast and the tension just went away. About halfway through I was struggling a lot keeping myself motivated to keep reading. I noticed I started to skip stuff so I decided to stop it.
As employer/employee tropes go, this one's not bad at all.
For an MF pairing, it's actually a decent read! I usually stick to sapphic titles but have been trying to broaden my horizons a bit and this one was definitely one to kick that off with.
If you've got a d!ddy k!nk... this one's for you. 😉
I find Lizzie Strong books compelling. They are always chock full of spelling, grammatical, and syntax errors (this one actually had the fewest amount I've come across) BUT I like the stories that they tell. Their FMCs are feisty and hold their own, their MCs are sweet, compassionate, and loving despite their grumpy and "monstrous" exteriors.
how can i describe a lizzie strong book? well thats simple. chaos, fluffy, and just amazing. of course when i got the ARC for the kattos wife, i HAD to read the first one. it had been on my TBR for a minute but im so glad i didnt hold off any longer and read it.
The setting was excellent and the romance between the two was very sweet. The scenes were hot and had nothing particularly shocking. The only thing I found jarring was the speed at which the 2 main characters got together. I've maybe been reading too much slow burn romance. Overall would highly recommend.
The cutest and sweetest "Oops it was always meant to be" romance.
He owns a pub, She needs a job as a waitress and divination spices everything up in a hilarious way. I loved the world building, I loved the characters and I loved their love!
Look, this might just be my favorite Lizzie book ever 👀 Please read if you want: ✨️ Daddy kink ✨️ Age gap ✨️ Pleasure Dom ✨️ Daddy's Cream ✨️ Live trunk chickens laying eggs ...and so much more lol
This is a sweet but very steamy read. This was my first monster romance, and I loved it. Minx and Eloise are fun characters and brought the heat. I want to visit King's Fall and hang out at the pub with all the great characters. I hope we hear some more tales of the Mumford Brothers.
Wow. This is the perfect monster romance with a library that would make any bookworm happy. This grumpy sunshine book is an amazing monster romance that I would highly recommend.
