Fashion, spectacular sightseeing in Italy, marvelous food, chilled Prosecco, explosive chemistry between characters - such a powerful romance blended with enemies-to-lovers and forced proximity, sunshine-meets-grump tropes, reminding us of the Italian version of "Emily in Paris" as "Violet in Rome": this is the recipe for the best romcom!
Another standing ovation is coming from me! This book made me giddy, carefree, and highly entertained! The fiery attraction between the sunshiny, optimistic, caring, artsy, creative, and quirky Violetta and the grouchy, surly, charismatic, and playful Matt absolutely excited me!
I loved Violet from the beginning. She's brave enough to pursue her dreams and finish design school, becoming a finalist in a fashion competition that rewards a job at a New York label, even though she's 29. She still misses her ex-boyfriend, the same man she changed cities for, but she's concentrating on her A-game to create killing designs to find her dream job in the fashion industry.
Unfortunately, on her first day, her coffee run turns into a disastrous meeting with a cute guy - she ends up destroying a brooding stranger's laptop. Her Americano treat and several apologies don't solve the matter. Then she realizes this man is not a stranger - he's the sulking son of a professor and he lives a few feet away from her in the same apartment.
Violet does everything she can to avoid crossing paths with him, but eventually, they bump into each other. More sexy, witty banters, dinner, and event gatherings later, they slowly bury the hatchet. They even realize they enjoy each other's company - actually, they enjoy it more than they expected!
I love being a witness not only to Violet's love story but also her journey to find out what she truly wants to do in her life!
Overall, I cannot resist the charm of one of the most spectacular cities in the world. This extremely swoon-worthy, engaging, inspirational romcom is absolutely one of my favorite works by Kate Bromley!

Pour yourself a glass of Prosecco, and enjoy being transported to the stunning streets of Rome.

This was EVERYTHING I could’ve hoped for in a romantic comedy! Flirty banter, cheeky humor, endearing & charming characters, great plot, Italian fashion, enemies to lovers vibes, and a beautiful setting. What more can a girl ask for? I was hoping this might be a cute, quick read. But I was pleasantly surprised, when this had so much more depth than that! I really loved the importance and development of mental health, internal thoughts, self criticism, and the emotional intelligence, that these characters showed. I don’t know what addictive element, Kate Bromley infused into her writing… but I couldn’t put this down!
“There’s beauty in every inch of a woman. In art, in fashion, in life, there will always be people who want to mold our bodies into ways that will suit them, but this can never be. There is nothing more beautiful and deserving of respect than the shape of a woman.”
Since I didn’t want this to end… I would HIGHLY recommend this fantastic book, if you’re looking for a new, fun, modern, romcom, or like me you’re in a constant state of wanderlust. I’d suggest throwing on your favorite Italian music, and pouring yourself a glass of Prosecco, maybe a delicious charcuterie board, because you deserve it. 😉 It almost felt like I was enjoying the hot, sunny streets, of Rome, while reading this.
“I’ve never experienced this level of natural beauty and I doubt I ever will again. I don’t know how to process. I could laugh, I might cry and both options would be appropriate.”
Also, can I start a petition for this to become a full length film?!? Because I’m dying to see these scenes play out in real life!

До того ж тут така романтична парочка ворогів, яка змушувала часом сміятися просто вголос.
І на закінчення усього цього приємно огортає загальна ідея книжки про важливість обирати перш за все себе попри все і за будь-яких обставин.
А улюбленою цитатою книги стала:
"Кохання - це твій подарунок собі. Ти його створюєш. Ти вирішуєш, кого кохати й кому надавати привілей кохати тебе у відповідь. Щойно я це зрозуміла, зустріла людину, яка надихала мене на найкраще. I so wanted to love this one. The plot is reminiscent of a R.S. Grey novel (whom I love), so it could have been the perfect escape after a hard week. However, Violet’s personality bothered me and she sometimes seemed immature and definitely younger than 29.
This being a romance, the story relies heavily on the connection and chemistry of the two characters. I didn’t feel Violet and Matt had either. We were told there was tension from their first meeting (the oft used girl clumsily smashes into boy meet cute), but I never got that. I did like the friendship between Violet and Marco, and others she met along the way.
I received an advanced copy through Netgalley in return for an honest review.

Колись Віолетта відмовилася від своїх цілей і повністю присвятила себе коханню. У свої 29 вона вирішує взяти життя в свої руки, і здійснити свою давню мрію стати дизайнером. Вона вступає до університету, а згодом вирушає стажером у Італію, де разом з іншими студентами боротиметься за омріяну посаду. В перший же день свого перебування в країні Віолетта знайомиться з Меттом і це не найприємніше знайомство...
Метт - буркотливий син професорки, а ще відомий сценарист. Інтроверт, який не любить людей, і надає перевагу власній компанії:
"Мені зазвичай не подобаються люди, але з тобою так не працює. І якщо думаєш, що я стану першим, хто покладе цьому край, то мушу тебе розчаровати"
Він намагається не заводити ніяких близьких стосунків, і вважає, що як тільки люди побачать його справжнє обличчя то відмовляться від нього. Тому краще не підпускати нікого близько до себе. Але за цим всім криється сумна історія.
Віолетта - жінка, яка не побоялася взяти життя в свої руки і піти за своїми бажаннями. Протягом книги ти спостерігаєш за її зростанням, як особистості, за тим, як вона оговтується від попередніх стосунків і відпускає минуле. Як боїться знову натрапити та ті ж самі граблі і втратити себе в коханні. Як зневірюється і розпадається на шматки, але знаходить в собі сили продовжувати і йти до мети. Я плакала, коли вона вирішила здатися, а діалог з сестрою мене добив. Це було дуже зворушливо. Всім потрібні такі люди в їхньому житті.
Було дуже цікаво спостерігати за стосунками головних героїв. Ворожнеча, постійні підколювання один одного, намагання знайти спільну мову, дружба, флірт і закоханість. Кожна їхня взаємодія наповнена шаленою хімією. Вони багато розмовляють і дізнаються один одного, проводять час разом і починають чудово розуміти один одного.
Все було прекрасно, окрім закінчення. Мені не сподобалася драма і поведінка головної героїні. Тобто я розуміла, чого так сталося і що до цього призвело. Але я очікувала, що вони спокійно сядуть і поговорять, як це було протягом книги. А не те що зробила авторка, я мало не заплакала від розчарування. А епілог... Ну хіба ж це епілог, мені потрібно ще. Я хочу знати, що було далі, як вони вирішили їхню ситуацію. А то наче й хепіенд але негативний осадочок лишився.

Ciao for Now is the perfect romcom for those looking for a book set abroad and in the world of fashion design! I devoured this in one sitting! It has some of my favorite tropes: enemies, forced proximity, and grumpy sunshine. There’s amazing banter, friendships that will remind you of your own, and a setting that will make you want to pack your bags and jet set! I adored this quick and easy read and am looking forward to reading more from Kate Bromley’s backlist!

I have read all three of Kate’s books. She always delivers an adorable rom com that I can’t put down. Italy 🇮🇹 anyone?? 😍
I just love snarky flirty banter… grumpy/sunshine and especially… enemies to lovers!! This is ALL of that!!😍😍
Violet is getting a chance to make her dreams come true. 🥰Landing an internship in Rome at a design school in Rome..what more could she ask for??? What could go wrong??? 🙄
Meet Matt… he is what could go wrong.😂 When Violet dumps coffee ☕️ all over him and his laptop 💻… well she learned just how grumpy 😠 and snarky Matt could be. Granted… she wrecked it… 😬…also they don’t know each other… 🤷♀️… thank goodness she will NEVER have to see him again… BUT wait… she does… 😂… then things get … interesting 😉
I adore a good rom com that brings more com than rom!! A fun banter… low steam.. a great storyline..this had it all!! ❤️ Pub date was June 6th!! I can’t wait to read whatever @katebromleywrites comes out with next!!

несподівано сподобалося. з рейтингу та анотації не була впевнена, що це що��ь варте, алееее.. я помилялася.
історія Віолетти, яка так прагне втілити свою мрію у 29 років. так би мовити дати другий шанс омріяній справі, після того, як у юному віці це покинула (ех, ця самопожертва для кохання). вона зустрічає сина своєї викладачки (Маттео) і все закручується.
Італія. я повністю занурилася в цю атмосферу. з перших сторінок мені дуже сподобалося. початок затягує. зустріч з Меттом була незручною та напруженою, але водночас як ковток свіжого повітря. вони спочатку постійно перекидалися злісними словечками, але й самі не помітили, коли час, проведений разом, став для них легким і чистим задоволенням. а їхні діалоги в момент «ненависті» смішні до сліз (окреме дякую за гарний настрій), а все інше – викликало посмішку. тому я впевнено можу сказати, що вони два комфортні котики (Метт трохи невдоволений котик, але все ж).
якщо повертатися до моментів, які не сподобалися, то це кінцівка. не люблю цих розривів на роки. але в цілому задоволена прочитаним і рекомендую.

Romance in Rome??? A broody hero??? A meet-cute gone wrong??? This book was such a sweet romance, and the banter between the leads was A++.

I highly recommend picking this book up if you are looking for a fun beach read. There is a third-act breakup that dragged on for a while (hence the 3-star rating), but overall I enjoyed this one.

Galvojau bus cukruotas cukrus, bet buvo šmaikštu, juokinga, vietomis ir prunkščiau, o geriausia - veikėjai žmogiški, tikri, su savo klaidom, baimėm ir dalykais. Be jokių herojų ir gražuolių apsiaustų: paprasti žmonės, įsimylėję, pametę galvas ir gal ne visai drįstantys tai tiesiai šviesiai pripažint.
Nuostabu, kad knygos veiksmas vyko Italijoj ir lietė svarbiausias šalies detales: madą ir maistą. Mada, grojo primu smuiku: buvo smagu įsivaizduoti jaunų mados studentų komandiruotę Europoje ragaujant, kuriant, mokantis, o kartu bandant patirti ir šalies kultūros stebuklus. Maisto aprašymai irgi seilę varvino. Bet rampų šviesoje čia pagrindinių veikėjų meilės istorija. Gan stereotipiškai prasidėjusi nuo nelaimės, šiek tiek pykčio vienas kitam, o vėliau sprogusi su didžiausia aistra. Ir joo, visi numanom, kad tokios knygos gerai baigiasi, bet ne visi autoriai žino, kad nebūtinai ta pabaiga turi būti žiedlapiais užbarstyta, vienaragiais papuošta ir Hallmark stiliaus. Labai smagu, kad net ne meilė seilė čia esmė buvo, o tokie dalykai kaip draugystė, gyvenimo siekiai, disciplina ir drąsa būti savimi. Kadangi tai buvo iškelta aukščiau romantikos, romanas gavosi gyvas, tikras, žmogiškas ir nepriminė pasakos. Labiau - dviejų brandžių žmonių norą sukurti tvarų santyki, pirmiausia pasirūpinant vidine, asmenine gerove. Va. Tikrai fainas romanas.
Nuostabu, kad knygos veiksmas vyko Italijoj ir lietė svarbiausias šalies detales: madą ir maistą. Mada, grojo primu smuiku: buvo smagu įsivaizduoti jaunų mados studentų komandiruotę Europoje ragaujant, kuriant, mokantis, o kartu bandant patirti ir šalies kultūros stebuklus. Maisto aprašymai irgi seilę varvino. Bet rampų šviesoje čia pagrindinių veikėjų meilės istorija. Gan stereotipiškai prasidėjusi nuo nelaimės, šiek tiek pykčio vienas kitam, o vėliau sprogusi su didžiausia aistra. Ir joo, visi numanom, kad tokios knygos gerai baigiasi, bet ne visi autoriai žino, kad nebūtinai ta pabaiga turi būti žiedlapiais užbarstyta, vienaragiais papuošta ir Hallmark stiliaus. Labai smagu, kad net ne meilė seilė čia esmė buvo, o tokie dalykai kaip draugystė, gyvenimo siekiai, disciplina ir drąsa būti savimi. Kadangi tai buvo iškelta aukščiau romantikos, romanas gavosi gyvas, tikras, žmogiškas ir nepriminė pasakos. Labiau - dviejų brandžių žmonių norą sukurti tvarų santyki, pirmiausia pasirūpinant vidine, asmenine gerove. Va. Tikrai fainas romanas.

Kokia faina, lengva, bet nedurna knyga! Ypatingai dėl dialogų – tie pagrindinių veikėjų pasišpilkavimai, nors ir aišku, kur veda, visgi ne kartą mane ir prajuokino, ir šypseną išspaudė, ir šiaip privertė pagalvoti, kad autorės humoro jausmas man labai prie širdies. Nemažai sarkazmo, pasikandžiojimų, nu bet visiem gi aišku, kur tai veda. O kas smagiausia, kad autorė apskritai labai logiškai ir normaliai pasižiūrėjo į gyvenimiškas situacijas, nepadarydama veikėjų nei per nuostabių, nei per talentingų, nei per sėkmingų. Jei jie tingi ir nepadirba pakankamai – geriau pasirodo tie, kurie netingėjo ir dirbo daug ir sunkiai. Jei kažkas nesiseka – nepradeda magiškai sektis vien todėl, kad aplink sukiojasi žavus vyriškis. Jei yra psichologiniai sunkumai (čia jie tikrai labai nežymūs, labai švelnūs, bet vis tiek smagu, kad žmogiški, suprantami, kad apskritai prisideda prie to veikėjų netobulumo), tai jie nedingsta vos tik saulė pašviečia ryškiau ir tas žavusis vyras pabučiuoja.
Smagu ir tai, kad nemažas akcentas autorės uždėtas ant draugystės, ant jos išlaikymo ir tikrai didelio palaikymo tarp vienas kitą platoniškai mylinčių žmonių. Be to, nemažai mados pasaulio ir dizaino, siuvimo užkulisių, o kur dar žavioji Italija (Roma ir Kapris), kur taip ir vaikštai kartu su veikėjais tomis nuostabiomis gatvėmis, valgai makaronus, gelato ar geri proseką. Todėl labai faina vasariška pramoga ir rekomenduoju – praėjo net mano, didžiosios cinikės ir meilės romanų vengiančios patikrą. O manau tiems, kurie meilės romanus ir taip labai mėgsta ir skaito – taip pat patiks. Tik šitas ne pats saldžiausias saldainis assorti dėžutėje. Man – pats tas.

I’ll start by admitting that I binged this book within 24 hours, and I would do it again in a heartbeat. This might be Kate’s best book yet. It was fun, witty, captivating and lovable. It’s the perfect amount of grumpy-sunshine, enemies to lovers. And hear me out: it’s Emily in Paris meets When in Rome (yes the Mary Kate and Ashley one) with a hint of Lizzie McGuire, and The Devil Wears Prada.
This book was overall a feel good read—a book that left you feeling happy and at home. It’s a book I would feel comfortable recommending to anyone; a book I would buy a physical copy of to have on my shelf and share with people; and a book I would read again.

I have been meaning to read a novel by Kate Bromley for a while now, and I'm thrilled I started with Ciao For Now. There are quite a few different tropes woven into it, such as forced proximity and enemies to lovers, and it was a wonderful romcom that I would definitely watch if it were made into a movie. Much of the book is set in Rome which I loved, but I also really enjoyed that it ended in New York with Violet realizing precisely what she needs to do. The book is told entirely from her perspective, which I thought worked quite well for the storyline, and she grows quite a bit by the novel's end. I also loved the focus on fashion and despite this being a romance, it is also about Violet's journey and how she pursues her passion for design.
If you enjoy audiobooks, I would highly recommend listening to Ciao For Now, and I loved the narrator, Natalie Naudus. She made my listening experience incredibly enjoyable, and I thought she got the flow spot on. I was swept away into the story even more so thanks to Naudus, and she made me like it more than if I had simply been reading it. There is lots of witty banter and laugh-out-loud moments, and it doesn’t hurt that Matteo was quite 🔥. There is a little bit of spice in the story but nothing too crazy, and the chemistry between the characters is off the chart. I was also a huge fan of Violet’s friend Marco and the two provided some wonderful comic relief. This is a mostly lighthearted story but there is still plenty of depth as well and I thought the combo was perfect. Ciao For Now is for you if you enjoy the enemies to lovers trope and watching a character grow from a little immature to finding her place.

Отже, чудова книга, яка підіймає настрій. І 5 ставлю не тільки за це, а і за фразу, яка мене вразила:
«кохання — це не щось, що ти знаходиш, і не щось, що знаходить тебе. Кохання — це твій подарунок собі. Ти його створюєш. Ти вирішуєш, кого кохати й кому надавати привілей кохати тебе у відповідь»

I found myself rooting for Violet throughout the entire book! I felt such a strong connection to her and I absolutely loved her character. Bromley did such a great job painting such a vivid picture of Violet and her life in Rome and beyond.
I cannot recommend Ciao for Now enough, especially if you love a great enemies to lovers romance!

Дуже легка, мила та кумедна історія.
Ви не отримаєте дуже захопливого сюжету, але точно відпочинете з цією історію чік літ.
Так, іноді герої поводилися як діти, а не дорослі персонажі, але я так хіхікала від цих моментів, тому для мене це не великий мінус.
Чудова літня атмосфера, Рим, мода та чоловік-письменник - це все що потрібно для легкого читання спекотного вечора.

I loved the banter, the humor, and the slow-burn push and pull of Violet and Matt's romance. Despite the slow-burn in the love department, this was NOT a slow read. It is well-paced and the perfect length. Additionally, Bromley really transports the reader to Rome with vivid descriptions of food, fashion, culture and scenery. I listened to this one on audio via @scribd, and one of my faves, @natalienaudus, delivers a wonderful performance of this diverse cast of characters (so many different voices and accents 👏🏻).

дуже cheesy, але дуже милий, смішний та атмосферний чик літ. ну чесно, була купа моментів, коли я просто вголос хіхікала, тому що жарти між головними героями просто в сердечко. загалом, чудова літня історія, але драма в кінці якась занадто нереалістична була.
а ще не сподобався переклад (точніше, редактура?). занадто багато повторів одних і тих самих слів (наприклад, був абзац з трьох речень, і в кожному було використано одне і те ж слово, ну камон, і ні, це не такий спеціальний прийом). та і взагалі текст написано якось занадто просто, але тут вже невпевнена, як в оригіналі було, бо це поки моє перше знайомство з авторкою, яке я обов'язково продовжу!

Wow what a funny, charming enemies to lovers book! This book gave me major Lizzie McGuire movie vibes and was just such a joy. I thought Violet and Matt’s story was so easy and enjoyable to read, but I think what set this book apart for me was Violets journey of self discovery. Her struggles with self doubt, feeling inadequate with her work, and feeling too old to pursue her dreams is definitely something I could relate to and I loved that it was a featured element in her story. This book just gave me a warm, fuzzy feeling that I love!

That was really fun amd exactly what I needed, I just got back from Rome and miss it already and I wanted to get back there even if through page
The story is about Violette, she is a student in a fashion designer major and she is so good that she gets a scolarship to participate in a designing competition where the winner will get a very brighy future in Rome, the city of fashion, so on her first day in Rome she meets Matt, and it was hate at first sight, but little did they know they will be stuck together since Matt is the son of the designer who is judging the competition, and sparks will fly between them in Rome
the book was fun to read and it had a cutr story, there some over the top scenes which made me laugh out loud ( Violette prank was hilarious) but there were scenes I felt unnecessary drama .. it was a nice book overall

This was a decent enemies to lovers, grumpy/sunshine, slow-burn romance set in Rome that sees an aspiring fashion designer falling for the mysterious son of her teacher. I enjoyed this one but didn't love it as much as the author's previous books. Good on audio narrated by one of my absolute favs, Natalie Naudus. Many thanks to NetGalley and the publisher for an early digital copy in exchange for my honest review!

Kokia artima man buvo ši knyga ne dėl pačios istorijos, o dėl veikėjos, kuri siekė tapti rūbų dizainere. Man tai taip artima ir kokių gražių minčių apie siuvimą, apie kūrybą, apie tai, kaip svarbu gyvenime nepamesti savęs dėl kitų. Turbūt dėl lengvo įsijautimo į pagrindinės veikėjos vaidmenį ši knyga labai labai patiko ir lengvai skaitėsi, atrodė, kad dalyvauju kartu šioje gražioje romantiškoje istorijoje.
